Unfortunately, Mifare support on Android phones seems to becoming more and more rare, as recent phones are equipped with a Broadcom NFC chip-set. I wonder which recent enthusiast phones are available in 2014 with an NXP chip? It seems that neither Nexus 5, Samsung Galaxy S4, LG G2, Samsung Note 3 or similar have Mifare support so that leaves only the HTC One I guess. What about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC's "All new one"?

I for one think that this phone is the best of all the dual-core bunch and it has native support for NFC. I know that NFC can be added to any phone later like it was done to the original Galaxy S, but I think Google should definitely team up with Samsung again for this one. The only problem I see is that there is no real 4G, and Google seems to think Sprint is a better partner than the GSM based T-Mobile and other GSM based European carriers as well. I know a new Nexus Phone is imminent, and I remember a statement from Google that the Nexus phones would not be yearly based, rather they would be released with every new major OS release. With dual core phones out, Gingerbread needs to be replaced with Ice Cream Sandwich to fully support dual core. I know some believe the next Nexus is LG and nVidia, but I think the Exynos SOC totally blows away the current Tegra 2 chip, and even if the second gen Tegra 3 chip comes out, Samsung will probably beat it as they have already pledged 2GHz phones for 2012. Here's to hoping Google releases the next Nexus phone soon, I have 529 dollars waiting
Anyone know the spec for the AU galaxy s II?
E.g. exynos? or tegra? Nfc or no nfc?
Current ones are Optus branded apparently. Exynos with no NFC.
The current ones are the same as the European version, meaning they have the very same features as the UK version (Super Amoled Plus, Exynos, no NFC).
Apart from the Korean version no other regional version supports NFC right now (with the only exception being the Indian version which is due for release tomorrow).
If I was in Australia I'd probably go for the Indian version as it has the same specs as the European version (Super Amoled plus, Exynos) plus an NFC chip integrated.
Even if you don't need NFC at all, having NFC on board will certainly increase your resale value which is quite useful when you'll sell it on ebay in a couple of months because of the Galaxy S III's upcoming release
Anyone have info on the upcoming one by vodafone au?
I actually like to have nfc as well...
Hi everyone, I have a question I can't seem to find an answer to.
I have a Galaxy S6 Edge (SM-G925I), and one of the main reasons I bought it is because of the incoming release of Samsung Pay in Brazil, my country. But, our local Samsung branch claims the S6 and S6 Edge variants sold here lack support for MST, and consequently, Samsung Pay.
Compatibility
The Samsung Pay only works on some of Samsung's high-end smartphones, in addition to one or other intermediary. MST we have the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge + and intermediate Galaxy A, in addition to the new S7 and S7 Edge. (Interestingly, the service was announced by the Galaxy S6, but Samsung says that the Brazilian version has no MST, only NFC.)

The S6 Edge+ (SM-G928G), Note 5 (SM-N920G) and A7 2016 (SM-A710M) supposedly support the feature fine.
My question is: is it true? Does the G920I and G925I really lack this functionality? Or is it some corporate BS to push their newest devices?
Is there any way I can tell if my phone supports MST?
Bump
I guess no one knows, due to the lack of answers?
Hi guys,
I'm thinking about getting a monthly plan from a local carrier. The plan offers your choice of a bunch of different phones. The phone I choose will be replacing my Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016 edition).
I will mostly use the phone for texting and Spotify, but I need the phone I choose to be as dev-friendly as possible. This means no locked (or very easily unlocked) bootloader, painless to install recovery like TWRP + root. Because after I root, of course I will be installing apps like Titanium Backup, Viper4Android, etc.
Here are the devices I can choose from the plan:
Sony Xperia XA Ultra
Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
Samsung Galaxy A7 2017
Moto G3 Turbo
Moto Z LTE
Moto Z Play
LG Stylus 2
Huawei P9
Huawei Mate 8
Huaweii Y6 II LTE
Lenovo Phab 2
Now of course I can search and search the XDA forums to see how much support each model has, but I am hoping anyone who reads this thread 1: Owns one or more of the devices I listed, and 2: Has experience in rooting / modding them.
Thanks! <3
Edit: I realize that the carrier may or may not pre-lock the phones, but ignoring this, assuming I wanted to buy one of the above devices with cash and not on a carrier plan, which should I go for as far as dev-friendliness?
Is it like on Samsung phones or is it RGB...
