Hi there,
I bought a "bricked" HTC One (T-Mo) today for cheap. I am trying to revive this thing. I have adb and the SDK installed, the phone shows up in adb devices.
It has Clockwork mod recovery. S-On, unlocked, tampered. Rebooting cold freezes on the HTC logo, but I can get into recovery.
I found the 4.4.2 OTA zip and when I adb sideload the zip and try to install, it says:
"file_getprop: failed to stat "/system/buld.prop" : No such file or directory
E: Error in /tmp/update/zip
What should I do now? I've tried many things, none work.
Thanks.
Flash a RUU ?

Tried that, didn't work. The RUU utility errors out. I never see the progress bar on the black HTC screen and it throws an error with a "recovery" option only.
The guy told me he "didn't realize it was running a custom ROM" when he installed the 4.4.2 OTA. This "broke" the phone he said.
I downloaded United_Advance_v6.1.0.zip ROM and it appears to be doing more, but has been stuck at the "Writing Data & System" step for over 10 minutes. I didn't get the build.prop error, however, but it's just frozen.
I wiped everything, including DALVIK prior to sideloading the ROM.
Is there a 4.4.2 RUU? It's not on HTC's site.
I tried this one, didn't work at all:
RUU_M7_UL_JB43_SENSE50_MR_TMOUS_3.24.531.3_Radio_4A.21.3263.03_10.38m.1157.04_release_336982_signed_2(2)

Nice. If you do, please post or PM me. I'm close to getting this thing working.
BTW, I'm on a Macbook running Windows 8.1 via bootcamp (not virtualized). It works fine for everything...but I got to thinking, would the USB 3.0 ports be causing an error with the RUU update utility? I hope not as I don't have access to a USB 2.0 machine...

Try "fastboot oem lock" run the RUU again.
I would flash the corresponding firmware first then flash the RUU.
Unlock bootloader, install custom recovery + root, s-off and load 1.44 hboot, finally make superCID and flash RUU

How can you s-off Hboot 1.56, I'm running into similar problem. Tried to convert to GPE after T-Mobile OTA KitKat was installed. Now can't go back to stock or s-off. I think that the OTA updated the hboot to 1.56 which is not supported by either rumrunner or Firewater. The only way out for me was installing CM11 with CW Recovery. Thoughts?

Can you give an update as to whether or not you were able to resolve your problem? The reason I ask is because I happened to run into a similar problem when I downgraded from 4.4 to 4.3 on my HTC one.
I can confirm that rumrunner does work on Hboot 1.56 and I actually should have all of the files necessary for you to be able to get your phone back up and running. Feel free to reply or send me a PM anytime and I will gladly help you get your phone running again

I just got a replacement phone from Asurion (Sprint Total Equipment Protection). I am trying to flash a rom (I have tried a few different ones) and in the process of flashing, the phone reboots and gets stuck rebooting.
Does anyone know how to get passed this?
Rom problem
I had a similar problem. I unlocked the bootloader but am still S-On running 1.19. After unlocking, I tried to install MeanBean 2.9 and the phone got stuck for over half an hour trying . I had to Power down. Obviously now it will not reboot. I can get to the bootloader and recovery screens, but cannot push a rom to root drive to flash.
I tried the linux unbricking thread advice, but my phone doesn't seemed to be recognized. Any suggestions on how to resurrect it?

I'm not really sure but seems there is no way unless if it's the original bootloader, plus this update is only for the mic so it won't fix back and home button. For me it's worthless.

Accidently i changed my baseband to the USA one, and now i'm getting no service, i tried to wipe cache and dalvik, a factory reset and nothing.

Hi everyone, I recently (as in last night) rooted and unlocked my htc evo 4g lte when i found out that htc will no longer be updating the device. I decided to take things into my own hands.
First of all, I unlocked via HTC dev and rooted with su 1.55. I also had Twrp 2.6.1 Everything was good up to this point.
I looked around for the best rom that was stable and I choose CM10.1.
I flashed the rom and not the kernel thinking i didnt have to. After the rom booted with the touch screen disabled or not working I quickly used the recovery i had made before doing all of this. After doing this over about 3 times i learned that you had to flash the kernel. I went and found the kernal for the rom and flashed it. I thought it was fine but i was wrong. My recovery doesnt recover anymore, I can get to the boot loader but unfortunately my boot loader is locked again due to the ruu I tried to use after I got a 'little' nervous.
Im basically stuck with a phone that doesn't boot. Id appreciate any and all help.

If you want to go back totally stock you can use the VipeRUU tool. You must be S-off to use it.
I have one more question, can i flash this without a kernel? or do i have to use the gui to flash the kernel first then flash over the rom? or is any of that correct?
Well i cannot link it but its the 4.2.2 cyangenmod

Hey guys I'm new here and need some help with my phone. I bought the EVO 3d from eBay and it was locked and stock..I was excited coming from my HTC inspire. My goal was to get s-off and have full access to my phone. So when I looked up how to s-off I realised that my bootloader wasn't 1.30 or1.40 its 1.58.0000 by trying the revolutionary method and the New way I found that I think works for the 1.58.0000 hboot s off is the Juopunutbear wire trick. My bootloader is unlocked and I'm on a custom Rom but one thing I need to perform the s off using this new method requires a stock firmware..I have tried many ways to get my phone flashed back to stock but nothing works. I have tried using the zip.IMG to sdcard and it will open it then check it and nothing else happens and I make sure i lock my bootloader back using the fastboot OEM lock cmd command before flashing stock firmwares. When I do lock my phone it says security warning under *relocked* and just boots to bootloader until I unlock. I have tried using the ruu.exe on the pc as well but I get a bootloader [140] error. I think the reason the ruu won't work or the zip.IMG is because i updated my phone with the latest 2.95 and I was trying to do the 2.89 which is the ics update I think... Anyway I'm sorry if I've typed a lot but I'm just explaining the problem the best I can. If anyone knows what I can do to s-off hboot 1.58.0000 or return my phone to stock so I can do the wire trick please let me know.
One more thing. To perform the wire trick successfully I read this on one of the steps, Verify - You are on Stock RUU (not FreshROM, Stock Rooted, HarmonyROM - none of these will work!). So I'm not able to install the official ruu but what I did was installed a stock ruu Rom with root, so what if I uninstall the root. Would this be considered the stock ruu? This Rom has not been modified in any other way besides being pre rooted. I also have linux if any one was wondering so I'm able to use any suggestions. Thanks a lot for any help I get and il be super excited if I can get s off. Maybe I can downgrade bootloader but haven't found anything of how to do it from 1.58.0000. THANKS!!
I have done s off on 2 phones while on harmonia. I'm on virgin, but cant imagine it matters. The first phone was hboot 1.57 and the other was 1.58.
I don't think root matters

Thanks for a fast reply. I am using the sprint version of the EVO 3d. not the vm version. Had to remove link from quote cause I don't have 10 posts yet....
All I know is what I did, and I'm on vm and I can't speak for sprint network phones.
However I have flashed several sprint roms and most work.
I would imagine you could use the same s.off process as the vm model.
I'm pretty sure both phones are the same, and use the same hboots
I would think worst case scenario is you would have to run the correct ruu after you get s off, when ruu is run through bootloader you would keep s off. Just my 2 cents

All I know is what I did, and I'm on vm and I can't speak for sprint network phones.
However I have flashed several sprint roms and most work.
I would imagine you could use the same s.off process as the vm model.
I'm pretty sure both phones are the same, and use the same hboots

Well im following the guide now that i am on my pc and so far im attempting to flash the ruu from step one and i got a custom id error. I just made a gold card and im about to run it again. If all this works Il be soo happy.:good:
You cannot run the ruu.
You need to skip that and just flash a stock Rom like harmonia

I cannot find the harmonia rom cause the only site it was uploaded to is goo.im and the file was removed.
But i managed to flash a stock 2.89 ruu to my phone just now and running fine. Will it still work if im on a stock ruu?

I have done s off on 2 phones while on harmonia. I'm on virgin, but cant imagine it matters. The first phone was hboot 1.57 and the other was 1.58.
I don't think root matters
