So, quick backstory. I have two PC's at home. A brand new win 7 64 bit laptop, and an older XP desktop. Neither will recognize my vibrant, and never have. At work, I have a win XP desktop, and I can connect the phone to that and use mass USB storage and move stuff around just fine, so I've gotten by in that regard in these 6 long months.
Then comes this #$%%^$#$ Froyo update. Who thought it would be easy?
I have downloaded kies on each machine. (As well as ODIN, but same issues.....computer/phone wont communicate). I cannot get my two home computers to connect to the phone, no matter what settings. BTW, I have rooted my phone with OCLF and subsequently un-rooted before trying any of the following. I have not flashed or updated the phone otherwise with any other software, other than what apps are available in the market.
I've tried
-USB Debugging on/off
-all 10 USB ports between the three PC's in all configurations
-deleted all USB drivers and restarted on both computers
-installed the appropriate drivers from samsung for each pc
-wasted 7 hours with samsung support troubleshooting to no avail
The USB cable is fine. The most promising progress is on my work PC, where I got Mini Kies going, connected and started the update, it finished decompressing the binary files, but then a USB not recognized warning pop up and kies kicked out the update.
I have installed, reinstalled the drivers for each system several times with samsung support. Nothing is working.
I don't know what else to do. This is the most frustrating experience in my life. Any suggestions or similar experiences that have been remedied?
I was having promblems also but eventually got it to work for me on an xp machine on stock jfd. It updated me to ji6 then I did the ka6 update when it was released. I gave up on my win7 system lol. Is your xp system 32bit or 64?

same here i have a win7 64 bit machine, i can connect to normal kies 1.51. i tried to update, it downloaded the files and just got stuck when it started putting it on the phone (luckily, it did not start the installation so i was okay).
mini kies shows that it recognizes my phone but crashes immediately after that.
i do not think the vibrant is supported by newer versions of kies, like 2.0.
I solved my problem by using my 32bit xp system.
edit: just FYI, i can connect to normal kies 1.51, sync my data and all that stuff. i also updated to ji6 thru normal kies, and I can transfer files and whatnot thru usb. I do not even think i needed to install the drivers manually
I downloaded Mini Kies 2.0 onto my windows 7 64bit machine and installed the Samsung drivers I have everything worked smoothly. I upgraded 3 phones to Froyo with no issues. here are the drivers I have

I did the Same thing it worked for me as well
The only luck I've had is on a winXP 32 bit machine, but then it cuts off the installation when it suddenly says "USB Not Recognized" (despite, um, the fact that it recognized it at the beginning, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to initiate the update!)
I'll give those Win7 64 drivers a try at home, although I'm pretty sure I have downloaded the same ones in my quest for a solution.
Do you suggest plugging in the phone, then installing the drivers, or leaving the phone unconnected and restarting the computer then trying to connect, or ???? The biggest issue on the Win7 machine is the phone not communicating with it AT ALL. Not even showing up in device manager as unknown or anything.

SOLVED
I finally got it to work, after about 15 attempts! (on a win XP machine)
Here's what I did in case it will help someone else:
When I plugged in my phone, I saw two items in the USB list in device manager. One said "Samsung Android USB Composite Device" (internal SD?), and the other said "USB Mass Storage Device" (external SD?). In this configuration, I got kicked out of the install each time after it "decompressed the binary files".
So what I did on a hunch was go to the device manager and "update" the driver for the USB Mass storage device to the "ssadadb2.inf" file included in the Vibrant USB drivers available directly from Samsung's Vibrant page.
Selected "Samsung Kies" on the USB settings on the phone, turned on USB Debugging, opened Kies on the computer, plugged in the phone, and it did it's thing.
Only took 3 days to figure it out!
Yeah its been a hit or miss. I have win7 x64 on two laptops and my desktop. It works in the desktop and only one of the laptop and I installed the same drivers for all 3

W/ WIN 7 64 Bit I upgraded my phone to Froyo.
I'm running win 7 SP1 64 bit.
Samsung told me that Kies mini and the driver is not compatible to 64 bit.
After some research this is what I have done and able to upgrad my phone to Froyo.
1. check the USB debugging.
- Samsung says to uncheck it. but if you do, you probably have MTP USB device error. So make sure your USB debugging is on.
2. After the you connect your phone, Samsung Kies Mini keeps crashing??
-Uninstall IE 9.
Solution is...
*Check the USB Debugging and Uninstall IE 9.
**Make your the battery is fully charged.
Connect phone
Start Kies Mini
I got so sick of Windows I switched to Ubuntu Linux. It's free and just as easy to use as windows. No crashes, no viruses, and it sets up as a dual boot so I can use windows when necessary.
Hello,
When I plug mk888 (android tv box) or Milestone 2 to my computer looking for drivers. Not so alone it is pointing. Installs however, there is code 10 Under windows 8 turned off checking the compatibility of the controller. I still have the same problem. I downloaded the drivers rockusb and the computer does not want to "accept". The same thing I have with drivers for motorola. The strange thing is that on another computer with Windows Vista I have the same problem.
I checked the original cable motorola and samsung.
Connected it without the debug mode (SD mode) and it worked.
But when I turn these modes I can not get it to install the drivers: (
I do not know what's going on.
Milestone has CyanogenMod 9
MK888 is an android 4.2.2
My computer has Windows 8 x64 with all updates
Win 8?

Thank you for the quick reply.
I found a similar movie before. I did it, but Dalen does not work. It shows that supposedly has recorded but did not work, and shows error code 10
The devices manager I have this:
Class for rockusb devices:
Rockusb Devices (with a black exclamation mark).
Similarly for motorola adb.
any news ideas ?

It seems to me that after some research the problem is with your driver the device manager cant start the device im not a genius but you should try to update the driver via google or update your windows if you havent already =D

i have all update
I recently changed my laptop to yoga pro 2
and this computer has windows 8.1 pre-installed.
my verizon s4 was already rooted and I was able to odin using this laptop.
Now, I'm trying to re-root, but saferoot is not responding to my s4.
For the phone, usb debugging is enabled and for the laptop, samsung usb driver is installed through kies.
Is 8.1 not comparable with S4 or am I missing something?

I think all drivers installed automatically for me on 8.1, and adb/odin worked fine.
On 7, my S4 wasn't recognised other than MTP/PTP while on and Samsung drivers did nothing, but this worked perfectly: https://github.com/koush/UniversalAdbDriver
Yeah you should be able to just install the drivers and it will work not sure if the link just posted will work but if not there not hard to find. Just google s4 root and any number of links will have the drivers on hand.
Good morning all,
I am looking for help. I can't connect my phone to my Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop running Windows 8.1. I would like to connect my phone as a USB device to via USB cable to transfer photos, videos and music back and forth. I used to be able to do this, but for some reason it has stopped working. Now when I connect the phone I get the notification "USB Device not recognized". When clicking on the bubble, it expands to "The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it".
The phone connects successfully to a Dell Precision M4700 running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 and a HP Pavilion running Win 7 Home Prem SP1. The USB cable is original. So my guess is that it has something to do with Windows 8.1.
As I mentioned, it worked in the past before on this computer, but now it won't recognize as a USB device. Also, this problem also appears on an old HTC EVO and a Samsung Intercept. They connect to the Win 7 laptops, don't get recognized on the Win 8.1
I have read ideas about deleting USB from Device Manager or updating drivers for Win 7, but nothing specific about Win 8, so I haven't tried anything yet. I did unplug, remove battery from laptop, reboot, removed battery from phone (the old EVO, the new one I can't), etc. Cable and phone work fine on Win 7, not on Win 8.
Any ideas on how to solve this are greatly appreciated.
I believe you'll need the Intel drivers for everything to work properly. Check out this thread for more info.

Thanks for pointing out the thread. I have gone through all of it, but I am not using ADP or Fastboot. I haven't installed any drivers other than HTC Sync (which I uninstalled after they didn't work). Some of the solutions ask to look up the android device on Device Manager to update drivers, but I don't see the device on the list.
Sorry for being such a noob, but I am frustrated I can't connect my phone as a USB drive to transfer photos, etc. Any specific ideas I can try?
Thanks again.
Im haveing teh same probum verry annoying!
Hi, I'm currently having problems unlocking my POCO F1. I've currently attempted on a Windows 10 (Ryzen 1200, 12 GB RAM) and a Windows 7 (Lenovo Thinkpad S1 i5) Laptop.
On the Win 10 PC the phone isn't reconized, I've reinstalled drivers, used ADB drivers then reinstalled Xiaomi drivers.
On the Win 7 Laptop the unlock program gets stuck on the login screen, not displaying it.

I have no love for drivers so just install/update Mi PC SUITE. 9/10 it works for me.
https://www.androidpit.com/forum/780683/how-to-solve-mi-pc-suite-not-detecting-phone
Yeah that seems to not be working. It's not detected and both USB Debugging options are on and OEM Unlocking whilst also trying to use older versions. (And it's not supported according to the site?) Edit: Also sometimes it'll display Press any key to shut down or something on the lines of that when Windows detects it.
Try following the instructions from this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwWGv5DKXFc.
This worked for me.
Uhhh I'm having a problem unlocking the bootloader

AMD Ryzen will not work. Use an Intel Win 10 PC. Try different USB ports and cables.
@aerospaz, one thing to note is that you can't use USB 3 ports. You have to use USB 2. If your Lenovo only has USB 3 ports, get a cheap USB hub and connect through that. It took me over a week of trying before I stumbled on a post that mentioned that. Once I connected through a hub, I was unlocked in the time it took me to read through this thread.
