Steps & How To
Backup any apps, data and also whatever files you have in your internal storage (holiday pictures, wedding video, music, etc.). After this mod you'll need to do factory reset and all will be gone. You can unmount your SD Card if you need to.
1) Extract "tools-for-reparted.zip". You'll find these files below
2) Root your device using Framaroot. Open the app, choose Boromir. If success you'll see a notification asking for reboot. If Framaroot force closes, just re-open and re-do the steps. Don't forget to reboot.
3) Copy recovery_P780_CWM_6.0.1.5.img into the root of your internal storage path.
4) Install Mobileuncle MTK Tools and open it. When asked about Root Access just choose grant
5) Backup your IMEI first :
6) Install CWM Recovery using MobileUncle Tools, then when asked to reboot into recovery just do it.
7) In recovery mode, choose install, find Lenovo-P780-ReParted-0.2.2-ID-EN-Aroma.zip and follow the instruction.

This works on 8GB ? Can we repartition that too ?
Thanks for this.
Will find time to try it.
Can I repartition on custom rom
Firstly, thanks for sharing with us. Do you use this MOD on stock rom or custom rom?
Thanks for the post distan7, only thing to add is that at the end, you must do a factory reset via CWM otherwise the phone goes into a bootloop.
@dentist7 This mod needs CWM/TWRP. It will work for stock ROM and MIUI. Didn't test this using AOSP.
@Dark_Horse
Thanks for your feedback

Update to S123 first and then partition as flashing the new ROM will set the partition back to factory default.
Anyone tested this tools to repartition internal storage in DEV Vibeui or Asiatic Vibe ROMs over 4.4.2?

Those ROM are chinese ROM, and as I recall have different partitions layout.
You can try, the worst thing might happen is a bootloop which can be fixed by reflashing your phone using FlashTool (ROW S123 or Chinese S129/S135).

What rom do you use? You must use Ebr files from Life rom to work properly.

Rom which I have on my p780 is LiFe v.07 with TWRP and I had gravitymod2 on it. I used Aurora ReParted to change the internal memory which changed fine - there was on the end 2GB space for instalation files(avalible 1.86) and no Phone Storage
Right now i can turn on the phone and load the system but it is not working proply. In TWRP when i try to mount usb storage it says that e: cant be mounted becouse is not found.
Log from TWRP:
bo3ek.esy.es/p780/recovery.log
Could you point me what to do with this Ebr files from Life??
I had my mobile just 2 days working after I bought it and i was just going to change it from my old one and partitionin was the last thing to to :/
Big thanks.

Ok. Let's see. Look what you have to do.
1. Do a full backup of your ROM. TWRP. On SD card.
2. Flash again LiFe.
3. Reboot once.
4. Download P780_LiFe_v02_ReParted_Data_aroma. Zip not other file. This is the original file made by Xakep.
5. Reboot to recovery and repart. Be careful because the file is in Russian. Choose the 2 gb file.
6. After reboot, reboot again and flash your backup.
7. Good luck.
8. If something goes wrong tell me.

Thanks for this. I am not worry about data or rom which I have on my device at the moment becouse it is still in beatweene changing the phone so all can be done again.
My only question is - is it safe to do the flash again new rom when there is no phone storage mounted?

I did flashing and all went good. After flashing i have basic LiFe v07 with two partitions on it as it was on the beginning.
I am going to use reparted now but on this pure LiFe 07 witout any gravitymodes on and if this will go fine then I will add Gravitymod.
Will let know how are things very shortly

With installed ADW Launcher EX:
This build is for Viewsonic Viewpad 7. I’ve made this build mainly because I had one big problem with stock one – it was offering little space for my apps. I've used this opportunity to add extra features and remove some annoying ones. Here is the list of changes:
based on latest official stock Viewpad 7 firmware Android 2.2.2
added Darktremor Apps2SD 2.7.5.2 functionality (require that you have extra partition on your SD card for storing your apps; exact procedure to create one is described in installation procedure)
fully deodexed and zipalligned ROM
ROM is rooted (Superuser.apk + su)
installed BusyBox with support for init.d scripts
replaced "Welcome" boot animation with stock android 2.2 animation
installed Gingerbread keyboard
installed Morelocale2 for more languages
modified framework-res.apk and services.jar with Gingerbread look like + % battery
removed Aldiko,RSS, TouchPAL_M20
updated gapps to newest version (Gmail, GoogleQuickSearchBox, Maps, Market, VoiceSearch) & YouTube
modified host file for ad-free
Now you don’t have to worry about decreasing internal storage when you install more application. You don’t also lose access to application when you phone is connected in drive mode to computer, because application data is being hold on ext3 partition on SD card. That partition isn’t mounted when your phone is connected to computer. The things that are redirected to this partition are: /data/app, /data/app-private and /data/dalvik-cache. Firmware should also work with compatible devices such as: Cherry Mobile Superion, Commtiva Linx N700, Olivepad VT-100, Spice MI700, and Camangi FM600 but I don't have these devices, so I cannot verify. As always make a backup before installing any custom firmwares.
Requirements:
installed Clockwork Recovery Partition as described here [TOOL] Viewpad 7 Backup, Root & Recovery
Changelog:
V1.0
initial release
Installation:
Power down your device.
Power on device holding power button and both volume keys simultaneously.
Upon power up you will see the birds logo and 'enter recovery' text in the top left corner of the screen.
Use the volume keys to step through the menu, power to select and back. (there is bug in clockwork when you press volume keys it jumps 2 steps; to jump one step press and hold volume and then press power to select)
Select the "advanced->Partition SD Card" item, next select size for your Apps2SD partition (1024MB recommended), next select 0 as size of swap partition. (Remember that this will delete all data on your SD card, so make backup of SD card if you need !!!)
After the partitioning will be done select the "reboot system now" item.
Using USB cable connection or SD card reader copy CleanViewpad7_signed_v1.0.zip to root folder of SD card.
Power down your device.
Power on device holding power button and both volume keys simultaneously.
Select the "backup and restore->Backup" item to make a backup of the current firmware in case something goes wrong. The backed up ROM should be located in: /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/date&time/
Select the "wipe data/factory reset->Yes – delete all user data” to clear old stuff.
Select the "install zip from sdcard->choose zip from sdcard" item and select CleanViewpad7_signed_v1.0.zip.
After flashing will be done select the "reboot system now" item. First boot may take a few minutes.
Migrate from stock or another build:
Make backup of your phone using Titanium Backup (select all user applications).
Copy all files and folders from SD card to local folder on your computer.
Install Clockwork Recovery Partition, create partition on SD card and install ROM as described in installation guide.
Copy all files and folders from local folder on your computer back to SD card.
Restore applications using Titanium Backup and reboot your phone.

Nice work bro.although it would be better to use the latest a2sd version of darktremor(2.7.5.3)
which supports ext4 partition and data2sd feature.so instead of adding a2sd 2.7.5.2 you can provide a link to the flashable zip of the latest DT-a2sd (http://www.darktremor.info/files/a2sd/dtapps2sd-2.7.5.3-beta04-signed.zip). it works i have tested it.

yes i have it rooted. what i had to do was boot the stock rom boot.img with this rom. working great right now.
I followed the directions in the first post and then downloaded the file from post#2.
Once you have the file from post #2 on your SD card, rename it to update.zip and then boot your device into Clockwork Recovery and select the "update from zip" option. Rebooted and my device now has 167MB of available space on the internal phone storage.
Thanks guys... this is the way the device should have shipped from Viewsonic, and although it aint no Gingerbread, I'm finally happy with my Viewpad after several months if dissapointment.
One thing that I find to be very strange is that it appears that some data is saved somewhere?
Even after I performed the following:
Formatting the SD Card
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Wipe dalvik cache
Load the new ROM
Did not log into any kind of google account and basically skipped all the setup options.
The device still shows all the wireless hotspot data that I logged into before. Why does it have the password for my WiFi router after all those steps were performed.
If I were to sell the device to someone else, is there any way to be sure ALL data has been cleared from the device?
Cheers!
Great work, good to see another ROM for the Viewpad!!!
Will for sure try it...
A few questions:
You are using the a2sd version of darktremor(2.7.5.3), I personally use Link2SD which also moves all data, cache,... to the 2nd partition of the SD card...
It's actively developed and it's free, so check it out...
Is this ROM with the kernel from tj-style? Then we can overclock to 824Mhz and it gives a nice speed boost...
If then you do not want to use it for your ROM, you can set it to the stock speed with SetCPU...
Thanks,
Nick
Since many people are requesting for TJstyle's oc'd kernel.I modified this ROM to add the kernel and some other stuff.
Here is the download link:

That was my intension for this...:victory:
I Hope to make RAZR hacking easier for new people
P.s. I've requested the MODERATORS to make shift this Thread to DEV section or atleast make it a Sticky Post so that people can see
Lets see :fingers-crossed:
Thanks so much
I came from using the HTC Thunderbolt that I had rooted and re-ROMed many times over. I loved not having all the VZW junk apps and a speedier processor than I thought possible. Almost immediately, I realized that I could not use the same programs and processes to make my Maxx mine.
FINALLY, After all the reading i have done over the past week trying to decide whether rooting and flashing my Razr Maxx, your videos made me actually feel comfortable to make the decision and go with BMM. I actually installed it and looked around on it as you were teaching in the video. As I learn more, I'll start trying the ROM you suggested. It's a different concept to me to have the stock system just sitting on my phone while running another ROM completely, but I think I can get used to it :good:
THANK YOU, this thread is very helpful. I agree that it making this thread a sticky for us NewBees, is a great idea!
Thank You

I did a full backup and there was a folder created in ext-sd (clockworkmod). Inside there are 3 folders, backup, blobs, firmware.
I'm ok with backup and firmware (I know what these are).
What about bolbs folder?
It contains a lot of sub-folders, named with numbers.
Thanks in advance.

its backup files...its required by Recovery to take incremental backup!
you can't delete it No, you can't. Or your back-ups will no longer work.
The blobs are most of the back-up. Storing it this way means you can make incremental back-ups rather than all of them being stand-alone. Certain back-ups will share blobs, saving you space.
It's annoying, and it would be great if you could choose the stand-alone method or the blobs-method. But you can't.
hope that helps!

I am using a mt6582m device with kitkat 4.4.2 with supersu.
I can use root to write to system, data and cache using es file explorer, can also read and write to any sd card, but apps like titanium backup, online android backup, ram expander can't read/write to sd card.
Eg.1: ti backup read backups, can do all operation except backup and restore.
I had read a lot, changing backup path didn't helped nor any odex file is there. Using v6.1.5.6.
Eg. 2: ram expander can create swap file on sd but can read it saying 'not found'. Swap can be used with cache partition.
Eg. 3: online nandroid backup says pat not vaild.
I had tried, sd fix app, manually editing platform.xml, xposed module to 'handel external storage', change permissions using es file explorer, editing ramdisk.
There is storage/sdcard0 and 1
Also mnt/sdcard and mnt/sdcard2 (symlinked)
Also mnt/media_rw/sdcard0 and 1 (not readable even in es file explorer)
What should i do to fix this issue? Please help.

If i get you correct you mean to say extract the contents of firmware and then copy them to contents of target_bin_8G.7z archive and use SP flash tools to install it.. RIght ? I did install it using SP flash tools .. How ever i think all it did is simply do a factory reset on my phone as all the preinstalled applications are back
Well okay.. Never mind i got it.. For 8Gb version we need to download https://yadi.sk/d/7Wlud2fbZaYjA
and use SP flash toos version 5 to install from PC.

Is it possible i can restore some parts of my TWRP backup from LiFe backup just needing my apps, I have always multiple backups have been using super backup so still have all my apps, my question is can i restore part of previous backup?? Forgive me have only been into android for under a year and have gone from ICS,JB & now KK but on plus side have never bricked any device but have spent countless hours in boot-loops and this phone is a bit of a ***** to get into recovery(standard recovery)

Hi. One thing i could say for sure: do not restore apps from prev versions of Android. They will install corupted. Better looK in sections of apps on your google account and install from there. Is safe and better. Iff you want to return to LiFe 0.7 you must flash your recovery TWRP 2.6.3.0 because TWRP 2.7.1.1 IS NOT COMPATIBILE. Titanium Backup has problems too. Install the latest version.
Hope this help.

Connectivity lost
I have 8 GB device. I am trying to flash P780_s221_LiFe_XVIBE_v05 using V5 SP Flash tool. I did follow the instruction of copying of files from target_bin-8G and replace the files in target_bin folder before flashing. Flashing and boot is successful. But the result is that the GSM/Data connection is lost. It is recognizing SIM cards as I do not see any error message on that. I see a red cross mark near the Signal Icon. When I tried recoveing IMEI from the backup using MobileUncleTool, one SIM is active and the other is still not. Any clue on what is the mistake? Further TWRP 2.7.1 is not recognizing external SD card and 'Mount SD card' function is not working when connected to Laptop.

Look on my post How about some modems. There are some modems for China and Row phones. Try onli in vibe section. Others will not work
Phone must be rooted and custom recovery must be installed. Do backup first.

Do not use that repartitioner on KK. It will not work and corrupt your partition, internal memory.
Thanks. I didn't know that.
However is there any way for re-partitioning when on KK? It's pretty important for me to increase internal memory. 1GB is not enough...
