[Q] Google Hangouts Mic working? - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Has anyone successfully gotten their kindle fire hdx to work correctly with google hangouts? I can hear others, but the mic doesn't seem to work correctly with it so they can't hear me.
I'm on an Apollo rooted kindle fire HDX 8.9" with gapps.
Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

You must have a different version of google hangouts for android than I do. The default version that comes with the amazon gapps doesn't have this setting. Did you sideload it?

Yes. It would help if you list the settings. For example, in my hangouts app, under settings, I have
- my email addresses
- SMS
- About google hangouts
No hardware/audio settings.
Within each email address, its just notification settings, and nothing about hardware.

HDX 7" with the ThorGapps ROM. I also can transmit no audio on a Hangouts video chat. I think this is, literally, the only thing that's not worked perfectly for me on this rom.

Google Voice Working?

Does anyone have Google Voice working, or should we wait for the 3.1 update?
Thanks!!
Google Voice doesn't work. I even tried a modified apk from the Xoom.
I don't recall where I got it from, but there is a version out there that works pretty well. I'm pretty sure got it from another thread on this forum, so try searching and you should find it. It is kinda dated, it doesn't support the push notifications for text messages (so fastest you'll get texts is every 5 minutes), but it works.

I've had no luck finding this version. Does the Gtab need rooted for it to work?
I think this is the file that I have installed right now: htt p:// db . tt / T3Svb4A (sorry, not enough posts to post the full link, just remove the spaces). Let me know if that one doesn't work and I'll do a direct pull from my device. And no root is needed.

Now, if only we could make google voice calls, this would be awesome. Thanks again.
Groove IP works on gingerbread, can anyone confirm that it works on the tab/honeycomb?
Fyi groove IP allows for voice calls from a tab using your Google voice number.
I copied the Google Voice APK from my Nexus S to my LE Galaxy Tab 10.1, and it installed and ran without any of the configuration file trickery described in other posts. Neither device is rooted.

Are you able to make calls or just text? My texting works fine, but still need GrooveIP to make calls.

That will always be true for any WiFi device. The official Google Voice app is not a SIP client. You need some other SIP client like SipDroid, CSipSimple, SipAgent or GrooveIP.
I got Google Voice working by using Titanium Backup. I used the backup files from my SGS4G. It Took a while for the batch operation to finish but it worked! No calls for the time being though. Texting is great though!
Latest Version
Here's the latest version from my Infuse. Supposed to be easier on your battery.
Also, GrooVe IP is on sale at Amazon. $1.99 vs. the regular $3.99. http://www.amazon.com/snrb-Labs-GrooVe-IP/dp/B004Z1P53W/ref=zg_bs_mobile-apps_1

yes u can make and receive calls. all you need is Groove IP which is a paid app worth all the money. install the app, follow the setup, and start making and receiving phone calls with your google voice number. no root needed!!! yes u need to b on wifi
I noticed if you text on a wifi only device with google voice you dont get the text instantly, you have to wait for google voice app to refresh which its lowest setting is 5 minutes.
Is there anyway to get texting instantly?

Google voice

Is google voice not available on the touchpad? I have the app installed on my nook color but would like it on my touchpad too?
I've used GV to send text on my TP, as far as calling goes, I think GV will connect calls to a phone number that's been previously setup with your account. Have yet to try and ,make calls with GV.

There's an app, available from the market. Widget comes with app.

Ah, no. App is Not available w/WebOS.. sorry..
Well poop. Looks like I am going to have to get around to putting adroid on it. Was going to wait for ics....thanks for the help
I'm using the alpha version of ICS. it's fairly decent with the exception of a few bugs but its my daily driver for my TP given WebOS is greatly limited on good apps.
Its up to you but I recommend giving it a try.

Switching ROMs broke my push notifications

Lately I've been trying many different roms and recently fixed my Facebook notification (via BB simulator method) and Pageonce (by enabling email notifications) but after I flashed a new rom they stopped working. On Google Music I had a message "too many devices enabled" so I checked it out and and my S2 was listed multiple times (for all the roms) as variations of i777 & i9100
Is it possible my notifications aren't working because the apps think they are working on "other devices"

Light up screen when receiving SMS?

I've tried searching everywhere...
Is there a way to turn on the screen for a few seconds after receiving an SMS/MMS, etc.?
You'll have to use a third party app. Try "Glowfly" from the Play Store.

Question Google phone/dialer

Hello friends, I am considering to buy Redmagic 7 and wanted to know if anyone is using Google dialer with it. Last time I checked was for Redmagic 6S and Google phone didn't produce a ring when a call was received. Is it still the same? The reason I am asking is, Google phone is kind of important for me as it has automatic spam blocking and nearby places functions.
Greetings,
I just installed now and tried it out, I called myself and the sound/vibration was working.

huge thanks for trying it out, it was almost the most important downside for me. Did you make the Google Dialer default app, or is it just standard install?
I've got the phone a week ago and have been using nothing but the Google dialer as the default dialer since first boot.

Did you change both the Phone and Call apps to Google Dialer in Default app settings? Do you also use Google Contacts app, does it sync?

Yes, I deleted the stock app just to be sure, and it was working fine (as default, since it was the only app for calls) Tbh I forgot about Contacts app, just installed and... well, what cannot work here XD? But all in all, it's all fine
