Hey all,
Recently, in the last 2 weeks, I've been having an odd data problem on my nexus 5 (4.4.2)
Where my data icon is orange, instead of white, yet I have full working internet access.
However, things like WhatsApp, Facebook messenger, won't sync until I get WiFi, but yet, I can send and receive messages?
I've tried rebooting, the airplane mode trick, full factory reset, and new APN settings.
I'm on T-Mobile/EE UK. PAYG. Been with them a week-ish.
I was on orange/ee before, and that stopped working entirely, but that was orange, not my phone, cos apparently my number didn't exist. Lol
I deleted all my apns and put them all back again, which fixed it for about 5 seconds, now its back orange again!
WiFi works perfectly.
I get an error when trying to sync Google sound search. But everything else works fine.
Any idea what it could be?
APNs? Phone, or network?

Hi all,
Looking for a bit of help/advice.
On occasions, probably between 1-3 times a day, when I try to make a call on the Hero, the call appears to look like it is dialing out but it just sits there saying 'dialing' but never connects to the destination which can be any UK number / Orange 150 etc. Either rebooting the phone or leaving it for 10 mins or so fixes the problem, but it does become annoying!
At the same time as this happening, when I try to send an SMS, I get the error 'SMS not able to send' in the notification bar. Again, I have to keep trying and it sorts itself out.
A final problem and I am not sure if it is related or not is I have had numerous people try calling me at various times, my phone doesn't ring or display a missed call, nor do I get a missed call SMS but the person who tried calling me said the line was actually ringing first and then went through to voicemail. I have witnessed this myself by calling my phone, getting a ringing line but the phone doesn't respond?
Any ideas of help would be appreciated. This problem has existed on Modaco Roms 2.2, 2.8 and 3.0 - I'm on Orange UK.
Thanks,
Nick
I have the same problem with the Orange Poland. When I logged on to the 3G sometimes you can not call or send SMS. When I switch to the 2G network problem disappears.
Yeah, it is strange, I have done that too, turn off the 3G to 2G and back to 3G which sometimes cures it, but not all the time.
I've tried various things, made sure the apps aren't closed with Taskkiller or anything like that. There is no specific time or occasion it happens, it just does now and again.
Well I have tried everything. I recieved all the settings from my operator , changed over 10 ROMs and gone back to the original too, i tried what you said to turn 3G off , i reset to factory , i unrooted.....Nothing works for me. I just get "Unable to send". I also tried 4 SIMs from different operators !!!
Help, my data was working fine on my galaxy i9100 with att's dumbphone data plan until 30 minutes ago. It was working fine then stopped out of nowhere. I can send texts and calls but can't send mms or browse on the internet. The bars stay greyed out too on top. I've flashed different roms and formatted my phone but still does not work.
Did you check your APN settings to make sure they are correct?
The apn setting should be correct. I've been using it fine for weeks. I was literally streaming a video and took a break to cook and came back and data stopped working.
Nevermind the problem fixed itself as magically as it came. Sigh. Wasted an hour or my life and formatted my rom for nothing. Really weird that data went away for 1-2 hours for no reason. Thanks for your help anyways.
I have this problem with my Samsung S3 i9300, running on it's stock ROM, the phone functionality is fine. (not using on data network or wifi)
Means phone calls are able to be made and received without any problems.
SMS can be sent and received as well, but sometimes, messages are not received!
I've switched the SIM to another phone, and then all the messages are coming in...
I've changed the SIM to a new one but still the problem remains.
Later on, I've flashed the phone to another ROM (S4 Revolution). It was working for awhile then it's happening again.
Now, running on CyanogenMod 10.1.3, it's been fine for awhile until yesterday, with over 5.3k of SMS, certain messages aren't coming in again.
Have any one of you had this issue before? I mean SMS is like the most basic function in a phone and it's not perfect on my S3!
For the record, the application there aren't any application installed prior to that problem, and there are more than 1gb of memory available.
I guess formatting the phone or resetting it would help, or clearing all of the SMS, but would I need to do it everytime? hmmm...

I'm using a ZTE ZMAX Pro on MetroPCS, and on top of other issues, the wifi calling is being a pain. The phone shows that it's enabled just fine, but when I try to send a text, it immediately tells me it failed. Calls don't even go through. I've tried several reboots, and obviously nothing came of it. I'm just stunned that there's no error messages, no "unable to connect," just the icon in the notification bar that says it's working. Any ideas are appreciated.
Have you registered with the e911 service?
In my experience, I turn off my data coz I am odd like that and that's when I found out I need my data on to receive text. I can send text with data off though. And actually my wifi calling on my phone REALLY works. Unlike on my samsung on5 it always have error messages so I just turn it off.
IF your phone is brand new when you bought it and did not mess with it. Although as far as I have searched there is no root on this phone yet. Then just factory reset. I factory reset mine no problem. Just remember to remove ANY account (especially google) first, before you reset to be VERY safe.
Hello everyone. I'm new here and someone recommended I join this forum. Having major issues with the phone. So here's the story.
Bought a brand new Pixel 6 from TMobile on Nov 8 2021. When initially setup, I backed up data from a Samsung S9 plus via my Google account. Took over 24 hours for all apps and contacts to transfer. Thought that was odd. For the first week I didn't know anything was wrong. Then people told me they send me texts and I realized I wasn't getting them. I tried texting numbers in order to myself and some where missing. Live in NYC area and 5g is very good in my area. Spent about 3 hours on phone with TMobile. They had me toggle off 5g and use LTE. Didn't fix the issue. Texts were delayed or missing. Only way to get them was airplane mode or restart the phone. Reset message cache and network settings refresh/reset. After about of week playing games with TMobile, they recommended swapping out the SIM card for a new one at the store. So I did that and texts were flying in. Phone was actually nice for a few days but then a new issue popped up. Incoming calls would ring but I had no way to answer. Screen was blank with no notifications other than the ringer. I could open the phone and it would go to the home screen but still no way to answer. Never got a missed call notification and the call log was frozen/blank. If I restarted the phone or waited a few minutes the call would sometimes show in the call log. Called TMobile. Tried resetting cache on stock call app, tried network settings reset but neither helped. They then recommended a full data reset and not to back up from my Google account from the S9 phone. Did a reset and started fresh. Problem still persisted. Called TMobile they only wanted to give a refurbished phone because I had it more than 20 days. That pissed me off and I battled their supervisors on the phone for probably 10 hours last weekend. Called Google and explained all of the above. They sent me a new phone. I set it up from scratch and got the same problems! Now I want to blame T-Mobiles network. Called them they said my line is clear of issues and blamed android 12. They told me Google has to update my phone and it could take 2 months! Got another new 5g SIM card and have the same issues. Finally today I called Google again and explained all the above. I'm told an update will be coming out tomorrow that may fix the issue. What gives? Can anyone verify any of this?
Sounds like you did all the right things. Maybe try disabling 5G for now if possible, see if this helps.
Does it happen in safe mode? Rule out 3rd party apps especially carrier. Try a network reset and have Tmobile reset it on their end.
Android 11 and 12 are a mess. Google bit off more Apple than they or the developers could chew
I'm still running Android 9 and 10 on my Samsung devices, neither will ever be upgraded past 10... lockdown.
Thanks for your reply. Disabling 5g didn't help. Tried it for a few days. Safe mode didn't help either. Network reset and TMobile reset didn't help. I did turn off adaptive connectivity per a 9 to 5 article. May have helped the text issue. Let you know tomorrow.
You're welcome.
Try disabling all power/data management.
Start digging through the default settings for everything. It's fun to do and you learn more about the device... you may even find a fix.
Yea, I tried messing around with everything. I even put a LTE SIM card in that I have and it seemed to work a little better. Tmobile, Google, and now I cant figure it out. Hoping tomorrow's update from Google fixes everything.
