Hello.
I've had twrp 2.6.3 with cm 10.2.1 stable, and today morning my device asked me for an update to cm11. After the update my device didn't boot, so i started to do research, i found out that i need cwm to get cm11 working, thats why im now on this site.
First i did a backup of all important files/data and then formate the SD Card
so i downloadet cm11 / cwm 6.0.4.6 and the gapps from this site.
installet it in this order:
Fastboot USB
fasboot devices
fastboot flash boot boot.img (from the cm11)
fastboot erase cache
Recovery
install zip from sideload.
adb devices
adb sideload cm11.zip
adb sideload gapps
after this steps i did reboot system.
And i stuck in bootloop right now.
what am I doing wrong?
I have a HOX + International

So did you installed CWR recovery ? if not you need to do that first . Since you say your backups are from TWRP , you better use Philz CWM which has a backup compatibility, else your TWRP backups will not work on CMW ..

Maybe sideloading gapps is the problem? just try sideloading cm11, you can flash gapps later after first boot. Also no need to format complete /data partition (including /media) when you already had Android 4.2 or later installed.

I use a usb OTG in TWRP almost everyday
and if sideload is failing it's likely because you don't have the drivers installed properly
and so you know the unlock is what wiped the phone not TWRP (unless you choose advanced and selected to wipe the sdcard which no one does)
get you drivers working
to test from recovery on the phone and command on the PC do adb devices and make sure you device is listed.
then in twrp you choose advanced/adb sideload
Connect phone to PC
Open command line where you have the file of ROM assuming you have ADB in Path of system, if you have not just copy the ROM to same place you have ADB files.
Type:
adb devices
(verify you phone are detect)
adb sideload name_of_the_rom_file.zip
(Wait the file is transfered to phone and recovery flash)

Yes i have.
Now trying to install ARHD again but nothing happends.
Flashed the boot.img and recovery.img (twrp 2.6.3.x?)
Dit a fastboot erase cache.
adb sideload rom.zip, installer is starting. Checked all the options i want to change. Installer has no progress.
Very very strange, never had this before.
Hi all. Before i start i want to say, i read a lot of threaths and comments before i started to booting recovery and i followed Tutorial that you can find somewhere here on XDA for MotoE.
I unlocked Bootloader correctly and everything was right. Then i downloaded latest version of TWRP and CWM if something will be wrong.
So i booted into bootloader, connected to PC (windows 8.1) and using adb i installed TWRP (by command window). After instalation was complete, i used comand: "fastboot reboot" to get my mobile start normally. Everything worked fine so i started last step. Turned off mobile, booted into bootloader(or maybe fastboot? idk...) and by volumebuttons i choosed "Recovery" . Then a black screen for a minute. After that mobile stuck on screen that i attached down below. So i tried this but with CWM (same process way). But nothing new... Someone said me i had to try "Minimal ADB and Fastboot" but again, nothing happend.
Can you help me guys?
The recovery isn't installed! Reinstall the recovery and follow correct steps!
I tried it one more time. I´m attaching image that is from command window showing that .img was booted ... Strange is, immediately after booting was completed, mobile restarted... and after i turned off mobile again, still i can´t reach recovery. Isn´t that problem in .img file? maybe it´s broken, isn´t it?
Tried once again
Ok last try didnt worked. So i complettly followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e/general/guide-one-moto-e-beginners-guide-t2807891 STEP-BY STEP!
Command window screen attached, Fastboot screen attached.
After reboot, turn off i tried to open recovery and again that image that i posted in first coment. (android figure with words: no command)
By that guide i downloaded recovery from here: https://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/condor/
and i downloaded just "openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-condor.img" as i have to do it (written in guide)
Well, your recovery is flashing fine from cmd but its not detected by your phone.
Try re-downloading the recovery and check md5 before flashing.
I'll look into it and see if the issue can be pinpointed.
Btw, you might need the flash the stock ROM back if nothing works.

Okay try this.
Flash CWM
If flashing fails or you get any error, then try booting into recovery.
Code:
fastboot boot recovery.img
If you boot into recovery, flash the SuperSU package.
Reboot and then flash the recovery.
See if it works.

Do not flash CWM, just boot into it by the command I posted above.
Then try and flash SuperSU, (if you get a root prompt from CWM, select NO.)
Reboot device.
Then again boot into fastboot and now flash recovery (twrp).

I said if flash is not successful, then boot into it. So you can't boot into recovery either.
Here's last resort, extract the stock recovery from stock ROM and flash it. Then we'll try flashing TWRP again.
If you don't have stock ROM, download it. as you might need it to recover.

What did i do?
As you said, i reinstalled all drivers...
then i downloaded same TWRP again (but with mirror source)
I downloaded attached md5 file ( still dont know what should i do with it )
moved recovery and .md5 files into minimal adb and fastboot (both files i renamed to "recovery")
turned off devices
started fastboot
connected to PC
started command window and entered command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
then i didnt wrote sommand "fastboot reboot" as i done before
i just unpluged usb and navigate to recovery button and launched it
and VUALA im in recovery
hurraaa
just installed superSU and then rebooted.
everything works (superSU too)
i have one more question...
i downloaded twrp manager from google play
first start: asked for root permission a allowed it
then message appeard:
"The only compatible version of busybox we support is Stericson. All other cause havoc on all operations in this app. Please click yes to install Stericson busybox"
what the heck is busybox?
+Should i download it or not?
Do not use TWRP Manager, ROM Manager, CWM Manager or any other of these Tools. They often do not really work good together with "exotic" fones. Why the heck do you need TWRP manager? You have TWRP installed
Anyway - Busybox you also can download and install from Playstore. Busybox is a collection of executable terminal commands helpful for any kind of script. There are a couple of rooted apps who will ask for busybox support - so don't hesitate to install busybox - but do it directly with busybox app from playstore.
After you have installed the binaries you can de-install the busybox-app. Because all necessary binaries then are copied into /system/bin/ folder and the app itself only will become active once a new version would be available (but this is not the case very often).
ok then

Hi,
So i tried to root my Honor 5x via this method: youtube/watch?v=Y-2SWbInT6U
But i forgot the step where he puts the SuperSU.zip on the phone and then uses TWRP to flash it.
So I tried manually importing the SuperSU via "Adb sideload" since the MTP doesn't seem to be working.
I also tried downloading the RECOVERY.img and put it on the phone via "adb sideload" but it just says "cannot read file", (also tried custom ROM, same error)
Im beginning to think that i have the wrong TWRP since i cant see my SDcard or wipe the internal drive.
I even tried putting the phone in fastboot mode to install another TWRP version, but the computer does not recognize my phone.
What do i do?
Boot to bootloader and "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" where twrp.img is your twrp image. Then "fastboot reboot recovery" You might want to make sure you've downloaded the latest and correct TWRP. If MTP still doesn't work in TWRP, then go back to bootloader again and "adb push "rom.zip" "sdcard/rom.zip" where rom.zip is the rom you want to flash. That should copy the zip to the root of your internal storage, and then you can flash it in TWRP. Make sure you wipe dalvik, cache, data and system before flashing any new ROM. Once you can boot into a ROM then you can download Supersu and Gapps with the stock browser, or copy them over from a PC, reboot into TWRP, and flash them, then wipe dalvik, cache and data and reboot. Or you can push gapps and supersu the same way using the command line "adb push."
Edit: I just read, too late, the part about the computer not recognizing your phone. I have had this problem before, too, and it is maddening. Check your driver in device manager (install the drivers for the Hisuite software), and also make sure you are using the original white USB cable that came with the phone. I have not been able to do any adb/fastboot using any other cable.

That's great to hear, enjoy :victory:
Hello, I'm kind of new at this (this is my first post) so be gentle
So, the last few days I've been trying to install a new rom on my phone (Redmi Note 4X) and the problems started with the model. I only seem to find Redmi Note 4 roms, and as I've come to find, mine is supposed to be the mido one (correct me if I'm wrong though). I have unlocked the bootloader, I have installed and enabled the fastboot on my phone, so the next step was to install the latest TWRP.
There came more problems; I tried doing this through the app and it just wouln't flash it. So I found a guide on how to root my phone and install a new recovery through adb and I followed it. It didn't work. I couldn't find the right twrp version for my phone. When I finally did realise my phone needed mido, I found the latest from the TWRP website. It wouldn't load through adb again. I found a thread about a fixed mido version, which finally worked for me. But my brother who was helping me, and isn't as much of a noob as I am (he has flashed rom and recoveries many times on his Nexus 5X), decided that I necessarily need the latest twrp if I'm going to flash a new rom, so he flashed the new twrp through the old one, and soft bricked my phone (I think). So I'm searching for a guide to unbrick it. (Which I can't seem to find to work at least).
To conclude;
I have unlocked my bootloader
I have access to the fastboot
I tried to flash a recovery
I failed many times, but I managed it
I flashed the latest twrp and bricked my phone
I don't have access to the recovery
My phone is still on a bootloop
I am not sure about which phone model I have
Help!
Thanks in advance.
1. Just check your phone model on its box. If its Snapdragon version (Mido), then just install it via fastboot. (code: fastboot flash recovery twrp-midoxx.img). If you are success, then try to reboot to recovery (fastboot boot twrpmido-xx.img). After booted, then you just manage to rom.zip you want to install. If you don't have it, then download it before from your PC and push it to your phone. Or just enable Mtp checklis from TWRP n copy that file to your internal phone/sdcard. Wipe all/factory reset except internal storage. Then you dan install rom.zip normally. N reboot. (Note: if you are on MIUI and wanted to always stay on it, just flash the file called lazyflasher.zip. n' wipe cache n art cache only then reboot). Flashing custom recovery on stock MIUI Will manage the device Going to bootloop)
2. If you have mediatek version (nikel), searching the fastboot Rom from miui website and flash it normally via fastboot. (SP Flash tool)
Warning: flash the wrong rom file into wrong phone Will make your device brick. So becarefull n knowing what model/code name you have.

Firstly, enter fastboot mode on your device. Connecting to pc and flashing the twrp for mido. "fastboot flash recovery twrp-mido.img". Then boot to it using " fastboot boot twrp-mido.img". Then you will enter the recovery (twrp) in a second. Copy the lazyflasher into your phone (enable mtp first in Mount option in twrp) that you downloaded from pc. Just flash the lazyflasher.zip and reboot.
And why you don't want to flash lazyflasher when it very easy to flash it using recovery twrp? adb? You mean android debugging? Actually, you cant flash a .zip file into your system partition except through fastboot mode. However, fastboot mode (in cmd) only recognize a .img file. I just try to tell you the easier method to make your device boot up.
