[Q] Maemo; can i put this os in my sk17i?

Noob looking for guidance/answers

A bit about me:
Hey guys, I have a huge interest in hardware and software. I know about hardware and how it works at an intermediate level, but my software understanding is very basic. I'm going to teach myself how to develop apps on Android, and other OS's once I actually know what I'm doing. (Nexus 5, and Oneplus One owner)
Actual question:
I'm assuming that a Linux based operating system is the best way to go about doing this, correct me if I'm wrong. I currently run Windows 8.1, what Linux based OS do you guys think I should dual boot alongside it? Does it matter? A lot of people recommend Debian, but from what I read, Google actually does their 4.4 KitKat development on Ubuntu LTS 10, I believe.
Thanks.

[Q] Linux running on onda v989 with framebuffer or native help

Hello!!
I have an onda tablet v989...hardware wise is a really powerfull machine. So what i wat to do is :
Install linux preferably Debian, but any distro is ok.
Native would be the best option so it can acces and use all the hardware.
Or via Linux deply using frambuffer.
I have installed debia in my oneplus one smartphone with linux deploy. And with vnc is rather slugish. Via XServer SDL it runs more smooth. But i have read that framebuffer is the fastest way in terms of performance. i have even read that framebuffer will get 3d acceleration and stuff. but i could be wrong.
Because i want to use this tablet as my working unit. But i need to have a working linx distro that runs well enough to do all my daily work on it.
I have spend 3 weeks to try to get it to work. and read a lot and so on on my own, but now i need help.
Has anyone sucessfully run linux in an onda tablet?
Any help about how to acomplish this will be really appreciatet.
I thinks this will help a lot of people that want to have a tablet and be able to tun linux and do their everyday work on it.
specially if you travel a lot.
thanks everyone in advance.
Hey,
I'm very interested about your project, did you progress ?
bump! any luck with this project? I am looking at doing the same also.
Hi Guys, has anyone succeed to install linux on it ? my Onda V989 has good hardware but its almost not usable due to 4.4 Android.

[Q] Linux Mint possibility

I see that Ubuntu is being developed and ported to the nexus 9 and I was wondering if any device could start work with Linux Mint 17 or 17.1 not earlier versions... instead as it is a much better os than Ubuntu. It would be amazing if it was to happen... Since after all nvidia has made the tegra drivers more open now.

as Both the Operating Systems Sources are Available
I Myself might have done it But I'm Out of FUP ;_;

Ubuntu touch its an good idea
This is a great idea and I'd love to see Ubuntu touch and get my hands on it
I tried sailfish os to port but it fails because the cm12.1 sorce code is not fully available and this makes it difficult for ubuntu you need cm10 or 11 resources , therefore it is almost impossible
but not perhaps maybe even
Maybe it east for me too much paperwork
Actually, Ubuntu touch is great idea though. But it's complex cuz it's need older android source code like jelly bean and kitkat source. Which mean it's impossible I think (my friend said that)
PS: Firefox OS has been dead last year.
View attachment 3872464 View attachment 3872465I again sat down at my Sailfish os port and have fixed some errors and comical he it at build without breaking what was always my problem one can hope maybe it will work
