I am a quite late to reply here. Below are the steps to install emojes on your Galaxy Duos:
First, go to the source link and download the two files there.
Download ES File Explorer from the Google Play Store
Open ES, navigate to the settings and enable root explorer.
If you have not done so, put the files, named “DroidSansFallback.ttf” and “fallback_fonts.xml” on to your SD card.
Using ES, navigate to the files. Long press the DroidSansFallback.ttf and choose “move to”.
Navigate to /system/fonts and drop the file in there. Confirm that you want to.
Using the same process, move fallback_fonts.xml to /system/etc and confirm.
Reboot the phone.

If you mean .gpk, NO
If you want to install .apk then YES.
How?
1. Copy the apk files you want to install to your phone
2. On your phone, Goto Settings - Security - Enable unknown sources (under Device Administration)
3. open "My files" or any other file explorer you have previously installed. My files is pre-installed on your phone.
- browse to the folder where you copied those apk files to (in step 1.)
- open each apk file, one after the other to install.
Done
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
Gpk files is something concered with audio files or something and has nothing to do with android http://www.fileinfo.com/extension/gpk
To install apk files u should check unkown sources in settings >> security ( ICS )
Or settings >> location and Security (GB)
actually there is some games that is formated to gpk the only diffrence is it has an installer that automatically put all the file in its destination like the sd files or data. thou you can you winzip or rar to extract it if you dont want to use the installer called 'thumb play installer'
another method - http://www.muzhiwan.com/
install the top right apk

Default font folder and Wallpaper folder

Help please. I've been searching for days for the default font folder of the Galaxy S III at the internal sd card. Unfortunately I can't seem to find it. Is it really hidden by any chance? Same with the default folder for the S III Wallpapers ?
My phone is not rooted, everything is stock. I've heard of font changer but it requires root. Searching for a nonroot solution if it is possible.
Thank you for your patience and tolerance.
Fonts are in /system/fonts but you will not be able to acces to this folder without root
For wallpaper, there is no folder: there are in one of the apk from samsung which should be in /system/app but no access to this folder without root

download it from here and install
and check settings > display > font style

Or you can use ES Explorer w/ root access, then go to /system/app/. Select 'secwallpaperchooser.apk' and extract all the files wherever you like using ESExplorer menu on the right (let's say SD card). You will find all the .jpg in Storage/ExtSdCard/res/drawable-xddpi folder.
Hope it'll help

General Queries

Hello Friends, I have a basic general query.
Can .apk files saved on a computer be installed without the absolute necessity of a file management app/file manager?
I ask this because a friend of mine, believe it or not, has no form of internet access! She has Temple Run on her computer which she intends on installing on her Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830.
I suggested her to get ES File Explorer and that is when she informed me, she has no internet access. Yesterday, on 13 July 2012, she informed me that she has the .apk file of ES File Explorer as well but she has no clue how to install it on her device.
She has enabled Unknown sources to allow installation of non-Market applications.
Is there a way she can atleast install ES File Explorer, which will take care of her follow-up app installations? Will Samsung Kies to the job?
Thanking you all in advance and anticipating your responses.
She just needs to move the .apk from her computer (assuming she has one?) to the root of her sdcard. Then install like any other .apk file through file manager. Simple!

Thank you Apex_Strider.
But does she need to have a file management app (such as ES File Explorer or ASTRO File Manager) installed on her device?

No, just simply plug in the phone and select "USB Mass Storage" option, locate the .apk file on the computer, copy to root of sdcard, eject the phone or select "Charge Only" and then use the built-in file manager to locate and install the .apk (or any .apk file for that matter) and install... easy as pie!

Apex_Strider, you mean /sdcard, right? The .apk file must not be placed in a folder.
Thank you for being patient with my naive behaviour.

You are correct, sir. Don't place in any of the folders within the sd card, but at the root of the /sdcard and you're all set!
Hello Friends, I am back with another general query.
How can I download a .apk file from the Google Play Store and save it on my computer? There are situations when I have no internet access and thus I intend on keeping basic apps such as HC-kTool, Temple Run, ES File Explorer, etc., ready at hand if and when I require them.
:silly:
Thanking you in advance and awaiting your replies.

You will need to install them to your device from the market, and then either use another app to backup the apk files to your sdcard, or if your rooted you can simply navigate to the /system/app folder and copy the apk files to the sdcard yourself

Thank you zacthespack, I was unaware Android apps could be "re-used" if needed, after installation. All this while I was under the self-created foolish presumption that an "installed" application cannot be copied and saved.
Thank you once again for educating me. I love this community.

Your welcome, yes the apps are stored in there apk form and just run (much like a java program is compiled to a .jar and run)
A humble enquiry directed at the Superiors of the community. Can a forum for the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus GT-S7500 be considered?
:fingers-crossed:
Thank you.

Hello Friends, I have another query.
Am I correct to presume the user installed apps are stored under /data/app? If so, using Root Explorer I can copy the apps and save them wherever I desire, right?
Also, can I rename these apps after I copy and save them to another location? For example, the HC-kTool app I downloaded from the Google Play Store, is stored as net.hellcat.droiddev.ktool-1.apk under /data/app. Can I rename it to whatever I desire, as long as it ends as .apk, after I save it to a different location?
:silly:
Thank you for bearing my stupidity. I look forward to your replies.

Cannot locate an app
Hello Friends, I downloaded the npower app, https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDMsImNvbXBzb2Z0LmFuZHJvaWQubnBvd2VyIl0. from the Google Play Store, but it is not visible under /data/app.
Is there another location where apps get stored after installation?

Hello all, I have another general query.
Is there a repository/database of stock firmwares for Sony mobile devices similar to Sam Mobile?
I will soon have a plethora of Sony mobile phones to fiddle around with!

First of all, to put it in /system/app, you're going to need to be rooted.
I use ES File Explorer, but you can use whatever you want. In any case, I'll write instructions for ES.
1. Go to ES's settings and then root settings and check "root explorer", "up to root", and "mount file system".
2. Navigate to your app wherever you saved it and long click > copy.
3. Navigate to /system/app and paste
4. Long click on the app you just pasted and go to properties
5. Click on the "change" button next to permissions
6. Set User: Read Write, Group: Read, Other: Read
7. Reboot your phone and hope for the best!
Note: The app still might not work as a system app.

I also has this problem. Some application won't work propertly. I was looking for a solution and found the reason - wrong permissions on files and folders in Android\data\com.XXXX. Changing permission on the parent folder gave me a topic message. After i found a solution that work for me:
- stop your app
- move your app to the extSdCard.
Take it!
