Hey guys, i browsed across many forums like XDA, lenovo-forums.ru etc. and I just can't seem to confirm if there is any working customs ROMs for P780 8GB version. Either they don't write it's for 8GB or most of them are for 4GB.
Can any fellow users list the ROMs they have used from Needrom , or Russian forums and if they work on 8 GB version. It would be helpful to other users too.
I wanted to use Life ROM and SLX Rom , as they are light and slx is looking like stock Android AOSP, so i would like to know if SLX works on 8GB, so i can flash.
How's your phone working? How many days since you are using it?
How different components are functioning i.e. WiFi, 3G, GPS etc?

Dude I asked you because you've used this phone and of course they work. I asked how do they work.
I asked you because there are not many people using this phone and certainly not many to be found around on the Internet.
As for the topic, you can check on one of the threads on this forum where a guy down in the thread has mentioned "He checked one ROM on all other versions of the phone and found that to be working". In fact you could have avoided this thread if you had read the comment in that thread or maybe replied there itself

How do managed to put chinese rom S125 from version 4GB to 8GB? By flashing new rom over usb with flashtool or simply by flashing with recovery?
Also, is it possible to use LEWA OS on P780 ROW 8GB? I flashed this by recovery and got bootloop.

im using the russian rom b929.
there are several sites offering different roms both custom and stock, it would really depend on what you are looking for.
some of the custom roms offer faster speeds but a reduced battery life.
doing a websearch will give you plenty of sites which have both stock or custom you should read through them to see what you can do also you can try each different rom and decide that way

There will be no 4.4 official stock for galaxy s3, never, ever.
If you need 4.4.4 like CM go to cyanogenmod site and follow the steps (easy peasy installation).
It's true, that iam a newbie in Android's world.
I own samsung s3 since 2 months & it's my first android experience.
That's why i need a little explanation
why official stock rom for version 4.4.4. isn't available for our phones.
When Win XP has arrived , it was for all PCs, isn't it ?

That is samsungs decision, after some time they stop the development for the phone, and it's been 2 years now with s3, from ics to jelly bean, and the time has come and development is stopped.
But, you have samsung kitkat ports here on xda under android development, but, since they are unofficial there might be some bugs if you don't pair them with a good kernel.
Since you are new, i suggest you to take a break and read, read all the FAQ, read every info, read about EFS backup (very important) and then, when you have all the information you need, go with rom flashing etc.
And listen to me, if you won't read and inform yourself you will mess something up and come back here to ask for help, and first response you will get is read before doing anything.
Happy readin, flashing, cheers
In this case here is my next question
On the horizon appears the next version - Android 5.0
If i understand correctly, that means once again Android x.x will not be made available for our phones and we will need to get again some custom roms, aren't we ?
Is it possible to flash a Lenovo A806 phone with a ROM that's not from Lenovo?
I want to take the stock ROM and replace it with a pure Android 4.4.2 Rom.
Basically, change the OS to pure android and away from Lenovo.
Thanks
Troy
Please, Bump
Okay,
Follow up question.
Can I flash the A806 with a MTK6592 ROM?
Flashing a ROM
So did I put this in the wrong thread?
No body here knows about flashing ROM's?
Where should I ask this question to get an answer?
Thanks
For flashing and rooting search for A806 + root in XDA forums, there is separate thread about rooting where I also posted link to my blog where is English how to root it and flash custom recovery so you can flash any ROM. As for clean Android see below.
there is AOSP Beta 1 (ported VIVO?) Kit Kat ROM available for A806 and A808T in one package released few days ago, more info in this thread:
http://bbs.lenovo.com/a8/t476045/
here is untouched ZIP file with AOSP ROM for A808T and A806 reuploaded by me:
http://www.mirrorupload.net/file/JC2BS6QC/#!Lenovo_A808T_AND_A806_AOSP_BETA1.zip
don't use OTA automatic update after flashing this ROM!
Xposed still should not work, gestures on switched off black screen should not work, except Weather and some Mobile phone assistant (flashing tools?) ROM should be pure Kit Kat without Lenovo stuff since it's ported from VIVO phone (?)
there should be also some issue with notification bar freezing phone when opening Wifi settings, here is patch for it (although I red about different issue about reported wrong storage capacity 8GB instead of 16GB) untouched reuploaded by me
http://www.mirrorupload.net/file/NHQXFMVZ/#!zip
for issue with Wifi disconnecting in Advanced wifi settings you should set ALWAYS connected, no energy saving or anything
I haven't tested this ROM, so use it on your own risk, more info from people who used it are in thread linked in beginning of my post but I tried to summarize all information on first 17 pages of that thread. I am still waiting for someone to test it on A806 and give me feedback, I don't feel that adveturous to reinstall everything.
Thanks,
Could you answer my questions?
Thanks
I also having problem to flash A806. It's from china. Most of the apps using china character.
I manage to flash a ROM suing SP tool and rom from needrom dot com.
Hi all,
I'm one of the people that have the P780 made after 03 2014 by now we know we have to use the special bootloader with the flashtools and all is working fine etc. We can also replace the recovery with a custom one but for me it will not work as it suppose to work. So installing a custom recovery isn't worth it.
But now i'm wondering is there anybody out there that has a working custom recovery on a P780 later then 03 2014 ?
And did anybody repartitioned their phone space on a model later then 03 2014 ? Mine is complaining about space on the phone memory. I already copied almost every app to the memory card. But after the 4.4.2 update the phone memory is 1,02 gb free and it's just sitting there doing nothing
Maybe we could start a thread specially for the 03-2014 >+ models and if we got custom recovery working ? and there is a rom builder with some spare time he/she could make the 03-2014 >+ roms without the need to replace the bootloader.

Hi,
Sorry for my late answer I have a 4GB version. And I know that we can install custom recoveries but they are kind of useless (for me it is) if we cannot flash roms trough them. I saw you are using the vibe2 rom from needrom also. I think it's one of the best roms we can have for this phone but i would like to try others also. Is there a way we could flash roms on the after 032014 phones that are made for custom recovery ? because we need the special preloader for our roms.
I'm not a rom chef at all but if there is an easy way to convert all the roms for phones made after 032014 I would be gladly helping to change them.
BTW stympy you are the Lenovo p780 goeroe ... they should make you the moderator here .. Thank you for all the effort you put in this phones forum

Hi there! Lets understand one thing: there is no problem flashing custom zip roms from custom recovery, even if you have the phone produced after 03.2014. Zip roms are not afecting the preloader, only the ones who must me flashed from PC. Sooo.. in the conclusion you can flash zip files with no wories.
Oh... and one more think: with custom recovery you can backup your full ROM and restore if something goes wrong, flash new apk directly to your system, flash new modem software, root your system and more... In my opinion this is the best think ever if you want to escape the stock rom provided by your phone producer.
Soo good luck on flashing zip files from custom recovery. :good:
Hi,
I am new here and as my first post I cannot post directly in the ROM section. I am after a custom ROM and not the OEM firmware that I have already downloaded from sammobile.com.
I have searched the ROM forum and I have found ROMs for several versions of my phone but not my particular spec: SM-G361F (core prime ve lte) coreprimevelte
Have I missed a compatible ROM in my search or are other ROMs for similar specs e.g. coreprimeve3g compatible or do I have to develop/build my own from source?
Your help is much appreciated.
Regards,
Alex
In the meantime I am in the process of trying to learn and mod the official firmware for this phone using this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/guide-how-to-develop-modify-roms-t3616040
If it is successful I will make available here.
The next step would be to try and port one of the existing custom ROMs but still much to learn.

This is where I previously downloaded the OEM firmware from but I am after an unbloated custom ROM version e.g. slimrom or even Lineage OS.
Like I said in the meantime, I am going to try to create an unbloated version following the guide previously mentioned.
Hi,
did you find custom ROMS finally ?
Hey, im interested in a custom rom for g361f too...have you found or made anything?
nope
Hi,
I'm working on grandprimevelte, as it has the same SoC as this phone coreprimevelte I could try to do some ROM for it.
But I'll need a tester as I don't own this phone.
You can find my work on this topic: https://forum.xda-developers.com/grand-prime/development/lineageos-13-0-grand-prime-velte-t3874411

I can test it for you. I work in a phone store and have acces to multiple g361f phones. So if anyone has anything to test out I can help.
We use the g361f phones as loaners so it would be nice to rune some sort of up to date firmware on it.
count me in
I have this phone and would be happy to test a custom rom
