Hey everyone..
Last night I got into some trouble while I was restoring a backup from internal SD card... but it says no files found...
Using philz touch recovery 6.00.8 and tried with 6.15.9 also.. I can see that backup in my file explorer.. but not in recovery.. I mean in the backup and restore option...

Have you tried copying it to external sd card and restore from there...Also I would not recommend keeping backups on internal sd card in-case anything goes wrong and it gets wiped.
Yes I had one other backup in ext SD card so I got away with it...
But the issue is recovery is not detecting it while it is present in my internal SD card..
Can someone shed some light on this???

You should have said that in your first post try posting in PhilZ thread you may get a answer from the man himself
Edit: Just thought I so a post somewhere about PhilZ not detecting cwm backups in internal sd card if it was not in a particular folder because of the 0 folder issue not 100% sure on this but it may help
I noticed 1 more thing
The ownership in both the cases is different... the one with neat rom is from ext SD card
And the other one from inter sd card

I notice your path for internal is emulated my cwm is in sdcard0 for internal try moving it to there.
Edit solved it... I changed the path from data/media/0 to data/media
And then mount data...
Previously data was not mounted that's why recovery was not detecting the backed up file...
PLZ close the thread...

Hello guys, i've a quick question about the external sdcard path, it used to be sdcard/external_sd in i9100 but now it has been changed to mnt/extSdCard due to which CWM somehow did a backup in the external sdcard successfully, but now when i try to restore from external sd card it gives an error and doesnt go through. any ideas? Is this going to be a problem of any kind at any point?
Strange. I have my nandroid backup on external sd and works flawlessly when I restore.

try updating the cf root to latest version
Both the internal memory and external are now named SD cards.
The path of the internal is /mnt/sdcard and the external sd is mnt/extSdCard.
For you to flash something from CWM they need to be stored in the mnt/extSDcard and not the internal one.
When using file expert you can get to mnt/extsdcard by going into internal memory and then mnt and so on which is strange.
Hope it helps.
Sorry wrong post.

thanks i'll try it and let you know
Ok the Cwm problem has been solved as now i can backup and restore from the sd card (Thanks to Bala_gamer) but what about the apps, i cant move them to sd card because of the new path to external sd. apps2sd and gl to sd dont work, so i get to fill up my 16 gigs in 2 days of purchase whereas i have 58 gigs free on my micro sd card.. and this is an issue already being discussed on other forums and threads,, what will be the solution to it anyone?? i also read an article by chainfire that google is blocking the installation of the apps to external sd maybe, so this is worrying me

U mean the internal memory? U won't need to format it m8, just delete what's on it and just flash over whats left.
No need for a format, there probably is a section in there to format it though.

Ok but why in others post the people speak about using terminal emulator or dialer code to format sd card?
Usually with rom i used cwm to format but by sgs3 this is not possible or i wrong
It is very safe and will keep your system clear. I tried. No problem

In some versions of CWM, the internal sdcard and external SD (emmc) are flip-flopped. In order to format the internal SD of my galaxy s2 using CWM, I had to choose the option to format emmc. If I chose sdcard (which should represent internal SD), it would have formatted my external micro USB. If you have an external SD, just remove it before trying this procedure so you don't wipe the wrong thing (I have made that mistake).
Hello Folks!
i just bought a 32gig micro sd card for my S3. inserted it, formated. everything goes well. but now i have problem. is there anyway to change the settings of touchwiz, so it downloads and installs all apps on the external sd ? and how do i change the backup location in titanium backup ? titanium backkups take up quite some space, so it would be great if they can be stored AUTOMATCALLY on the external SD. Btw S3 is rooted.
Thanks Guys
Titanium Backup
Go on menu, then Preferences
Then Backup Settings, Backup folder

For the first problem you have go to the mods section and search for internal sdcard to external sdcard..you will get a zip which will toggle the memories so that your internal memory will be shown as external and vice versa ..all the apps will then be stored on the external sdcard

Hi,
Since I have similar issues and more, I jump in with my own questions...
It seems that my ext sd card is only partially recognized. For instance, Rom Manager does not see it, so when I want to install a zip file from Rom Manager, it will only browse for the zip file within the internal as card. I can however browse through the ext sd card from Recovery.
I can also reach my zip file stored in the ext card with ES file explorer, click on it and open it with Rom Manager to install it straight away...
When I do a nandroid backup, I get a message during the backup process stating something like "no ext card found"
I'm just wondering how the ext sd card can be recognized in any situation? Could this relates to how I formatted it? I did a standard formatting with my Windows 7 PC, so it was fat32 (or fat).

What about TWRP? Try to flash a kernel with TWRP and see if you can mount it there. Just try it

I checked this too. Intal zip>see sd card, sd ext and system folders, go to sd and is only TWRP folder but i don`t have it on sd and nothing more. If i put a rom in this folder don`t see too. I thought my sd was broken but i repaired it by bootice. Before computer cannot format it to any format exfat too. I think something is missing in file system on my card.
I picked up a new 64gb SD card and tried to use TWRP to backup a ROM and no luck trying to backup to the card, can do internal memory no problem.
Anyone think of a reason for this? I can move files to the card via USB and ES Explorer so it isn't a writable problem.
Maybe it needs formatting to the correct form?
I had to do that to my trusty 8gb sd card I've had for years to get it to work.

But how do you explain being able to transfer files to it while in the phone, and also download directly to it?
Are you able to choose the external card from within TWRP for backups or is it not even an option there. It should be there if you touch the bar that says internal.. Sorry not rooted ATM so I can't see exactly what it says.
