Don't worry, everything will be fine.
Firstly, flashtool doesn't recognise ftr files, it reads ftf files. So, download ftf file from here:
http://d-h.st/Ug3
then, copy downloaded file to flashtool/firmwares folder.
In flashtool, click lightning icon, select flashmode, select rom, press flash and follow instructions on the screen.
then report here if you've managed to boot device
I hope I helped you
Cheers!

My pleasure. It is probably the faulty boot.img or something like that. Kernel usually gets flashed with ROM, except if developer says you must flash boot.img, the you do it via flashtool via fastboot (but be careful to select .img format from dropdown menu when selecting. If you wan't better battery life and smooth user interface, Gingerbread is the best solution. You're welcome to try my Refreshed Gingerbread if you wish HD gaming is no-no for our Xperia U, no matter what people tell you. But you can play some decent games. If you don't want to use Gingerbread anymore, your best bet would be CM10 limited edition or kontini's stock JB. They're equally good, but I give my vote to CM10LE because of the smoothness. Battery life sucks on any JB rom though Oh, and one more thing, if you decide to use any JB rom, be aware that viber causes call lags.
Cheers
EDIT: did you unlocked your bootloader? IF your bootloader is locked, then you cannot flash custom kernels. Just so you know.

you didn't change the permission or the file is incompatible ..the only way is to roll back on your backup ..or flash a new fw

Did u unlock bootloader? Or still locked?
Flash generic ftf using flashtool or try repair using PCC.
Sent from my WT19i ExMIUI-ed
If you have installed clockworkmod recovery and able to boot into recovery, then try flashing any custom rom(don't forget to wipe cache and data).
OR
Flash a GB or ICS rom (.ftf extension) via flashtool.
you need to download any .ftf firmware for your phone.
then install flashtool.
put your downloaded .ftf files to C/program files/flashtool/firmwares.
turn off your phone, hold down the volume down button, while you do that don't let it go just yet.
open flashtool.
connect your phone to pc using usb cable.
wait until flashtool recognized your device.
then click on the lightning icon and choose flashmode.
then choose the .ftf files that you just downloaded then click on "start" if im not mistaken.
then just sit back and relax and wait till flashing finished.
that's it. your phone will boot normally.
if you dont want your files in phone memory (downloaded games/apps/settings),
unchecked wipe data and cache in flashtool before you flash the .ftf
Flash Using Flashtool
Just flash your phone using flash tool.
1. Download the respective *.ftf file for your phone.
2. And then flash using the flash tool available for xperia.
:good:
if you really want to save your data ..and you already have cmw ..
there is a tricky way ..but not sure if it would work or not
Thank you very much guys. I reflashed my phone. Problem solved, but all my messeages gone, thats the only bad thing, and Market app is still not updates to Google Play, i dont know why
So Laugh at me I've bricked my neo mt15i
So some suggestions on where to look to fix it would be nice, or maybe someone knows how to unbrick it?
I bricked it using some ICS firmware with Clockwork mod,
I booted into clockwork after turning it on, selected install rom, installed the new rom, came up with a interesting install menu with next, select neo or neo v, Of course I selected my mt15i neo option, clicked next. It went through the install said it was finished and rebooted.
Now its stuck when it turns on at Sony Ericsson, and doesn't move from there,
I can turn it on holding the option key to get it to fastboot mode or the back key for a green light which i think is recovery mode.
So i've tried using the sony ericsson recovery software but it was like no bad firmware since I can a custom 2.3 rom, so it was rooted and everything.
So how would I go about fixing it from fastboot or recovery? I'm sure there is a way, but I haven't found any thing yet through my google searches.
Thanks in advance guys
Why are you using ICS rom with GB kernel? flash some custom ICS kernel.
btw: that option key is called menu key
also you didn't say which rom you was trying to use
ahh sorry it was just a random ics rooted rom of the neo,
Its a tweaked one of some sort of version 4, ill need to find it in my download list again since i renamed the file when I put it onto my sd card

it doesn't actually matters, main problem is that you use GB kernel with ICS rom.
What do you mean GB kernel?
Since I unlocked the bootloader when I first put on the original rooted rom, but Im not too sure what else I changed when I first rooted it from the guide.
So could we go some where from here and change the GB kernel? or Have a dug myself in a hole in this case

You were using gingerbread before, right? And then you installed rom from CWM, right?
oh yep sorry always forget these names
yeah i went from GB to ics using clockworks mod 5,
but yeah im slowly understanding what im missing now, so i need a ice cream sandwich kernel to make my rom work,
My phone is now booting into clockworks 4 by itself when I turn it on, So I guess I can do something from here?
I think I managed to get cwm 4 on by flashing it using flashtools, so i think I need to find a kernel which supports my new rom would be my guess, but flashtool doesn't seem to like the kernels i've been finding and the ones that come with the roms i've managed to download the links seem to be all dead so far

Well managed to get it going after about 6 hours of reading different forums today
Thank you for your help guys!
So I worked out I used a tweaked rom link-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720177
But the kernel didn't seem to work for some reason, though maybe I tried it with the wrong rom and thats why it didn't work, all i know is i've got a 2.6 kernel with 4.0.4 ics,
this said this has been quite a good learning experience, even though it was slightly stressful as I tried option after option.
But yea the problem was the kernel from what I could work out, and when I was booting up into clockworkmod 4 that was when I'd flashed the kernnel to it, I could install other roms from there and then re flash the kernel after i'd install the rom.
What I don't understand is why clockworkmod 5 was deleted when i used it to install the rom originally, since it wouldn't work after that (holding down the volume button when turning on)
Though maybe its still there after loading a rom that boots now, haven't checked yet
Neo / v has no recovery partition, which is where cwm usually installs.
So we have 2 options install to /system or /boot when you have locked bootloader you can only install to /system, most rooms format /system at install so unless the rom contains cwm it is lost.
With unlocked bootloader cwm lives in the kernel, as performance is better with custom kernel most rom recommend one, therefore no cwm needed is system.
To clarify cwm for locked Xperia is s compressed archive extracted to and ran from cache partition, so once your in recovery formatting system isn't an issue but it is lost at reboot.

Dude, it`s very easy to unbrick your neo.
You should do step by step:
1.Install latest Flashtool to your PC.
2. Install ADB drivers
3. Download Official Sony Firmware 4.1.B.0.431 Central_Europe and kernel with cwm, i prefer night-elf
4. Power OFF your phone/ Launch Flashtool at PC/
Then press and hold settings button on Neo and connect usb cable.
LED must be green. Then press flash button and choose Fastboot. In next window press 'Selekt kernel to flash' and choose downloaded night-elf kernel.
5. Then disconnect cable. Then press and hold BACK button and connect cable to neo. LED must be blue. Next press flash button and choose Flashmode, select Official FTF you downloaded and press ok.
6. Voialia! 5-6 minutes and your neo is Alive!:fingers-crossed:

Is your Bootloader unlocked? Because if your Bootloader isn't unlocked ( official method by Sony or tespoint method) you can't Flash the custom Kernel and it won't work.
Have you flashed the Kernel or Not?
Sent from my SK17i using xda app-developers app
yes, bootloader is unlocked(Sony method) , and I flashed the kernel(should i post any screen shots? I used fastboot)
Maybe Flash Sony offical Rom again (Flash Sony Kernel and then Sony official gingerbread Rom). Then try it again.
And you are sure you performed all steps of the tutorial? And everything went really fine?

I'm downloading official rom now. will let you know the result.
But remember to download the official kernel from sony, too! And flash the kernel and then flash the ftf file from the rom!
And then reinstall cyanogenmod. But I'm not sure if this helps anything...
Could you post the link from the tutorial?
Did it work?

Could you pls post the tutorial from cm wiki?

Don't update over the air, or your phone will brick!!
Why won't they let you post the link? I don't know if it is against the forum rules, but hmm...
FIRST READ AND THEN CHOOSE IF YOU WANT TO TRY IT ON YOUR OWN RISK!
Do it like in this tutorial. But download the files from here. Then extract it, so you have got 1 packed and one extracted foler.
Then install sony flashtool and go to the flashtool installation folder on your pc and make a new folder "kernels". Then copy from the extracted cm9 folder the boot.img to the kernel folder of flashtool.
The packed package of cm9, you put on your sdcard. Then you open sony flashtool, click on the flash, choose fastboot mode and go to your created kernels folder and choose the boot.img. Make sure it is named boot!
Then connect phone in fastboot mode (volume rockers up and connect usb to pc. It will automaticly flash the kernel you have chosen.
SEE THE LOG BEFORE YOU PLUG OFF THE DEVICE!! If everything in the log is right, you can turn your phone on. When the "Free xperia project" screen comes up, you press volume down again and again, until clockworkmod comes up.
When your are in cwm just do it like in the tutorial. (Wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition)
Then choose "install zip from sd card" and choose zip from cm9. Click yes and it will automaticly flash it. DON'T TURN OFF DEVICE WHILE THE PROCEDURE! Then, when it is ready you can startup your device.
I DONT TAKE ANY RESPOSIBILITY AND I'M NOT SURE IF IT CAN WORK (just installed it like this on my xperia mini pro)
Greets and keep up! In the end you will experience cyanogenmod 9!!

Hi everybody, I've just rooted, installed CWM and flash experience v2.1 and everything worked.
Than I flashed AC!D, wiped, then flashed Cybeshot 4, wiped, then flashed cybershot 5. After that I rebooted and from that moment it is in bootloop. I've already, wiped and reflashed the ROM, but it continues to reboot and a couple of times also the AROMA installer got stuck.
I really need help. What can I do to fix it? I mean, there's no reason why it shouldn't work after the flash, right?

I cannot flash via flashtool because I can only work in CWM and flashtool doesn't recognize the phone in that modality.
You mean to say flashtool doesn't recognise you're mobile?? In that case.. You are missing some flashtool drivers.. You'll find them in /flashtool/drivers/ whichever folder you've installed flashtool in... After this flashtool should recognise you're device... If it doesn't then try flashing any ics kernel through cwm.. You'll find them in dev thread.. N then flash ics Rom

Remember that I can access only the CWM screen, flashtool can recognize the mobile even in CWM mode?
However, I've already tried to flash the kernel via CWM, but it says installation aborted. I've zipped .10 and .54 kernel in two different zip and renamed them kernel.10.zip and kernel.54.zip.
What's wrong?
EDIT: ok, I've been able to use flashtool. I've flashed .10 kernel, then flashed .54 kernel, then reinstalled experience ROM, wiped and restarted. It continuos to bootloop. Now I try to flash a stock ICS ROM.

Ok, now I've wiped and flashed only MT27_6.1.1.B.1.54_KERNEL.ftf file through flashtool. Restarted the phone and it continuos to bootloop. When the phone says preparing internal storage it restart the phone.
sorry for my noobage. Now I've flashed MT27i_6.1.1.B.1.54_Global.ftf (big file) and flashtool had a problem. It says "err severity=major err code="0009"" err dynamic: block verification failed".
Now the phone continuosly shows screen with "sony".
Now what can I do? Can't even enter in CWM mode.
Ok, I've solved the problem. The last firmware I flashed was for unlocked xperia sola, this is why I had problems. Now I've resolved the softbrick thanks to a guide of doctor_droid.
Now I have to reroot and reinstall CWM, right?
Also thanks to you guys for your patience.
Yes... N after you install cwm.. Please make a back up through cwm for god sake!! happy rooting!!
Another question: the first time that the bootloop started was when I flashed cybershot and ac!d without restarting.
Do you think that the bootloop started because I haven't resarted between the two flashes?
Nothing as such.. May be conflicts between cybershot n acid files!! It's better you restart everytime you flash.. N do wipe cache partition n dalvik
Oh gosh, another funny problem. Got a problem with rooting.
I've flashed .10.tft kernel, then run "runme.bat" (from rootwithrestore) and this time says that there's "old adb" or something like that. However, I manage to conclude the process, but when I reboot I've got black screen. After that I've flashed the .54.tft file and the phone works fine, but there's no SuperSU app. So I suppose it's not rooted.
What's wrong with the runme.bat?
Yep not rooted!! Try again!!

Hello!
Remember this: You CAN'T use stock kernel with Cyanogenmod. You need to flash the kernel included inside the zip you downloaded.
And as far as I know, there is no CTC kernel for Xperia Mini or Xperia MDPI.
Since you already said that you unlocked the bootloader of your phone, try reflashing stock ICS firmware of Xperia Mini using Flashtool. Then if you want to install the ICS Cyanogenmod, download the zip file for your phone. After downloading the zip, flash the kernel that can be found inside the zip. That kernel has already a CWM installed so no need to install CWM manually. After flashing the kernel, install now the Cyanogenmod zip.

did u mess up ur phone in previous?!?! it looks like.
1. unlock bootloader is only once. it will STAY unlocked no matter what u do. so dont do it again
2.before installing a custom rom like CM, flashing a stock.ftf is good idea like u do, BUT:
a) make sure its the latest version of flashtool
b) install the drivers in the drivers folder of flashtool.
c) may install android SDK to get the google usb drivers (dont install ALL!!! just leave all like it is & install)
2.1 SO NOW if u flash a stock.ftf fw for YOUR phone, IT WILL BOOT 100%. ELSE:
a) u doing sth wrong (wrong fw etc)
b) ur phone is broken , a stock ics ftf will boot 100%, remember.
after this install cm like u say (kernel flash 1st than rom.--> boot)
