I'm looking for a rom that is stock based has good battery life and is fast and stable.
Could anyone suggest me a ROM please? It must be on 4.3 or 4.4
I'm not asking which is the best I'm simply asking for suggestions.
Thank you for taking your time to read this.
I'm also fairly new to the rooting side of android or what ever you want to call it lol.
It is still a kind of asking for a rom thread. U are asking for a rom tat is fast. It is different for all users as the way they customise and wat apps they install on it affects the speed. Pls try them out urself.

Omnirom nightlies seem fairly bugless as do the latest cm 11 nightlies. I would go with omnirom as it has more features and customisations. These are of course 4.4 ROMs as there aren't any Samsung based 4.4 ROMs currently. Looking at sources it seems however that s3 4.4 update looks confirmed for some US regions. For a 4.3 ROM I'd go for the S5 revolution ROM. Seems quick with little bugs, good battery life and a S5 theme. More updates are to come. I wouldn't know much about other ROMs as I don't have the patience to flash many. I'm sure you can find many more ROMs to your liking.

Its really strange that no developer is coming up for this great device. Even galaxy grand have slim bean, resurrection remix and other roms. Why on earth developers are not trying to make some roms for mega?

Imho the simple reason is Samsung have not made available the SOURCE for the firmware of Mega.
We have a few ROMs and couple guys working on CyanogenMod............yeah maybe we don't have slimbean or PAC or aokp or ....well the list can go on but a stable clean CyanogenMod base is probably more important to get right before creating added features to it.

Damn it is that true? I thought that we have the source for the FW.
So thats the reason why we still stay with stock ROMs. Hmm..
I love my Mega but we need some developer attention that would do miracles around here.
It will all come in time

Truely what is it behind any custom rom that stock rom +utilities could offer! Most of the time with good utilities one could have the best rom there is the stock one (less bugs) and good overall performance ..we can always add or eleminate any stock apps...them drivers are the worst nightmare devs facing specially for latest roms ported for a defferent devices.

My previous phone it was Motorola Defy, with locked bootloader, forgotten by it's parent company and not upgraded any more from Froyo stage. THEN it was sensible to seek custom roms to have newer system.
Now I do not need so - my system is mostly up to date and probly will be upgraded (soon) to KitKat. All TW futures suited me well, so what is the reason to flash not fully functional custom ROM? Rooting the phone is another question (in fact - this is NO question )
Hey guys, I'm upgrading to a Nexus 5 and giving the S3 to my mum, I can't leave my phone on AOSP based roms because of the bugs, especially the camera, they'd drive her insane and she isn't that great with technology.
So my question is, what's the most stable stock based rom I can flash? I don't mind some tweaks and a custom kernel etc, I just want something I can flash once and let her enjoy. Any suggestions?
Latest 4.3 BTU, my advice is leave it perfectly stock so it OTA's.
Best rom threads are against the rules, due to the chaos and clutter they cause.

OmegaROM is the most stable Sammy based ROM, Cyanogenmod is the most stable AOSP based ROM.

1: Use triangle away
2: use mega wipe to wipe the phone
3: install a stock rom, 4.1.2 MC3 is the most stable that i know of. And your mom won't care about being on the latest firmware
4: set it up and teach your mom how to use it!
Thanks for the replies guys, my Nexus 5 just landed in my city according to the tracker, better start getting my S3 ready for mum . Cheers all.
Mod Edit
"Best" ROM/kernel threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.

N00b recently obtained a S3, rooted it with Kingo root & need some advice. on how to proceed next...
First of all i would like to point out that i have read several threads here in Q&A and in DEV and i must say the amount of ROMS and possibilities are quite overwhelming. That's why i am posting this Q...
Second: i don't want to switch ROM's all the time, i just want to install one good working, stable & fast ROM without the hassle of adding extra's, removing bloatware, try different kernels/bugfixes etc... It just needs to work.
Also i like to have: a dark layout for the Phone (saves energy and looks much better to me)
As little bloatware as possible , i just want it to be working fast & stable/flawless (i will install the stuff i really need myself via google playstore if possible)
Some Questions
- On my HTC Sensation XE i have 4EXT (with Viper 521 ROM), would this recovery work for the S3 or should i use someting else and why ?
- Which superuser/SU/else should work best with the S3 ?
- Should i use a 5.1.1 or 4.4.4-based ROM ? I have seen various threads and video-comparisons but none of them could convince me (besides the fact that lollipop is too bright & child-looking for my taste)
- Is there a stable & fully operational version of stock Android 4.4.4 or 5.1.1 for the S3 ? And if not which ROM comes closest ?
I would gratfeully receive any advice which ROM i should pick based on your personal experience(s)
Thnx in advance !
Slimkat 4.4.4 is recommended. Light, fast, no bloat and it has the dark mode you are looking for
Lollipop is no good for the s3 but if you are feeling adventourous you can try out either slimLP or dokdo project.
@cokesucker:
thnx for reply, i guess i'm gonna have to try...
Recovery ? Anyone else ? (read TS plz)
I'm currently using carbon rom kk last nightly from 11/2014 and ArchiKernel 2.1 old aosp. This is my daily driver. For recovery us TWRP always

Btw:
Why you think Lollipop is no good for the S3 ?
I was reading & watching (YouTube) some reviews about Archidroid & CM12 & they seem to be quite popular.
Any thoughts ?
Recovery Twrp
5.1.1 Rom ArchiDroid 3.1.4
Kernel Boeffla alpha 17
For a dark theme look at the play store and search for 5.1.1 theme
Hi guys,
It`s been time since I last time flashed a custom rom.
I`m looking for fast, stable, as less buggy as possible 4.4.x android ROM for my I9300. Could you suggest me anything like this? There are a lot of possible options in android development section, but I do not have a time testing them all.
Thanks in advance,
Vilius
Go for Blekota Note 4, if you are willing to sacrifice FM Radio for it.
But if your willing to go up to Lollipop then you may either choose BlissPop or ArchiDroid. Both are quite stable and the only difference is customisability (BlissPop is winner for that).
I will let the other people decide your fate
I think cyanogenmod11 is a good choice

More people prefer AR-HD when it comes to I9300 JB ROMS. But ArchiDroid 2 is KitKat and it is quite fast and stable

hello, i ve been looking for a good rom for this device, but it seems that is not that much supported by rom. I saw Pacman rom but the thread was closed which means not supported anymore. so do you recommend any rom ? because my htc one max became laggy and such or do you suggest any mods to the current stock rom? or any ported rom ?
Thanks
I didn't try every possibility but... I found that the sense 7 5.0.2 rom by yankee worked the best on my Sprint onemax.
I couldn't get most others to work well... Usually data did not work. CM12 or CM13 didn't work for me...

I'm running CM13 (cf. https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Build_for_t6vzw) or, if you don't wish to build it yourself, you can download Flyhalf's excellent ROM here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-max/orig-development/rom-cyanogenmod-13-0-t3260857
Both run just fine on my OneMax.

There doesnt seem to be much support for this device anymore. Ive been following Fly's CM13 build. its really awesome and really stable. Ive tried the Nusense 6 and it was a great rom but i liked the CM 13 better and thats currently my daily driver.
Have a look here.

Thinking of getting a Max.
Probably will just doing a bit of research first.
I guess it missed the Marshmallow update?
