Hello everyone !
i recently root my galaxy s3 - gti9300.
i used cf root (http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...3-07-2012-cf-root-6-4-supersu-cwm5-5-t1695238).
this cf root comes with built in cwm 5.5 recovery, now my question is if i can update it to the latest of cwm, and how ?
(becuase i want to flash to ArchiDroid rom and it said that you need cwm 6 + i think )

Just download the latest CWM version on this forum (not in General but in Original Development). Just put it on your device and flash it using the CWM recovery that's already on your device.

Im kinda new here I have a Galaxy S2 GT-I9100G
Android version 2.3.6
Baseband : I9100GDZKK1
Kernel :2.6.35.7 [email protected] #2
build no :GINGERBREAD.JPKK1
after searching the forums i found two custom ROMS for my phone but both for the kernel DZKJ2 which is also for android 2.3.6.
i have few questions
- what is the best methods for rooting this device and how do i install CWM recovery for the G version ?
- after installing CWM can i install the custom ROM directly or i need to install custom kernel first... and will that custom kernel ruin my phones stock ROM ?

You follow the instruction thats as simple as it is .

Does not make sense you need to read the FAQS and GUIDES
A custom kernel will no longer be a stock kernel .

Thanx jje. but i need to root the device first and install CWM in order to install the ROM.. and i have searched alot there is no method to root tne new DZKK1 kernel for I9100G running 2.3.6 .. i even tried DoOmlord tool for the G version with no use

Thanx.. already tried that, this method wont work for the latest kernel but after reserching it apeares that if i Load the RAM for more that 500 MB it will. so i did that and now im happy ...phone rooted ,CWM installed custom kernel installed, now im looking for a nice custom ROM.

What version of Cwm you use for it?
how do ya install cwm
pardon me mate i too hate the same device and i rooted it using the zurgling method but it only root your phone and do not install cwm can u plz let me know how to install cwm onto my phone.

in order to install CM9 rom u have to first root ur Phone using a CF-root Kernel
since Cm9 cannot be flashed with Stock recovery as it needs Custom recovery
so first root ur phone and then install CM9
My phone is already root. (with any PC )
CWM.zip is a ClockWorkMod in a ZIP to load in memory a CWM-recovery 5.X

CF- chain Fire-Root kernel will root ur phone and install custom recovery on ur Phone
so if ur phone is already rooted then install the CWM.zip file, then reboot into cwm recovery and install the CM9 zip file
before that in cwm recovery make a nandroid bkp of ur exsisting rom first
and also follow the instructions of flashing CM9 rom carefully form there thread OP

i rooted it before the update with "CF-Root-SGS2_BU_VOD_LPC-v5.4-CWM5".
After the update my mobile is unrooted
my i9100 also has the BrickBug Chip issue

You root it using the same method as before, I assume via ODIN, but with an LP7 CF-Root kernel.

Try flashing a PDA which has a CF-root available ( via PC-ODIN).
Then flash the CF root to gain root and CWM.

i just got a Galaxy S 2 from my brother.he gave his since he now has S 3 .....
moving on ...he was using Resurrection Remix v2.6 ROM in it . it was good & i was using it with no problem....but yesterday suddenly the ROM Crashed and now the phone does not boot properly ( it does not get past the bootscreen ) & i can't access my CWM anymore.i think i still have root..
my question is there any CWM to flash in my S2 ..so i can flash another ROM ??
i have been searching for CWM recovery i can't seem to find 1 ....
can any one kindly point me to the direction or thread please...it would be a great help ....

As I can see you have cwm recovery installed.
Here is tutorial how to root, flash recovery.

Before you can install KitKat ROMs you'll need to have cwm recovery v6.0.47 at least. Just flash Gustavo_s kernel or Apollo 7.1 for cm. Then you can flash KitKat from recovery. Don't forget to backup your efs partition.
I prefer flash Philz kernel ( with cwm 6.0.2.8 + root ..) later update my recovery ( i updated at 6.0.5.0 ) later reboot in recovery ( in this step you cant use your device but only the Recovery, dont worry it's normal), full wipe and you can flash the Cm11 and the gapps ... 5 minutes and u'll have a better device ... Oh naturally dont forget a EFS folder backup and a Nandroid backup ( with the philz kernel). You can find all of these things in this forum.

You need to root your phone first with CF Auto Root
After download Rashr from the PS and flash a recovery tha tyou want.
