So I have the vDM client error. I have tried flashing the stock RUU but nothing seems to help. When I boot the phone the error message says "unfortunately vDM client has stopped unexpectedly" it pops up once then goes away without me touching anything. I have tried updating my PRL and Profile still to no avail. My 4G, Wifi and 3G all still work but the signal is sloppy most of the time now. I can still make calls and receive texts. I have also contacted Sprint and they gave me some bs about the cell tower being messed up in my area. It has been 6 weeks and it is still not better. I don't know what to do anymore there is very little info on this problem at all and why it happens. Please help me if you can. I am pretty tech savvy but this is one thing that has got me puzzled.
Were you able to find a fix ?
I have a Sprint m8 and its doing exactly the same,
Sprint gave me the same story about towers being down but my wife and kids phones are fine.
I ran a full RUU that did absolutely nothing.
TIA

Is it just me or is anyone else unable to roam on verizon towers after the new rom/radio upgrade (3.16/3.27)? I get a recording while roaming "Welcome to Verizon Wireless, We're sorry, we're currently unable to authenticate your phone, Please try your call again. If you continue to experience problems please hang up and dial #8899 from your wireless phone"
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
What PRL do you have?
I never tried making calls but I don't roam on their towers anymore when it comes to data. I just get the triangle and 1x and no web browsers will let me connect to any sites. I kinda just gave up on it since I only needed it in the DC Metro.
I can roam with the new rom. im using prl 60610 and data roaming works as well.
kind of ironic because it didn't work before for me
1X roaming works on Alltel and VZW with 60610 and 3.x ROM here, but EvDO roaming is a no go on Alltel, even though it works fine with 60610 and 2.x ROM.
I guess you are not the only one having the problem. it's a no for me for both prl 60610/60611.
However I am only having the problme at home. I can roam onto vzw at different locations (voice and 1x data) $%^%^&#!$#@!$
People say it may have something to do w/ a-key which is blank on my phone ...

Using PRL 60610. I downgraded my phone back to radio 1.40 and it worked fine but it will not work with the new one. I guess roaming had to be given up for GPS.
Problem Solved. Seems like Sprint's System wanted to do the PRL update themselves for record purposes because after I got the rep to shoot a new prl (60611) roaming worked. I then downgraded to 60610 (best one for me) and viola it stuck. everything is working now.

Ok, so how did you fix this again? Can you give me the current setup of your phone or the steps you took to get to where you are?
Here is what I have done so far:
- Flashed from 2.17/1.47.1 to 3.16/3.27 and got the no Verizon roaming issue you described.
- Figured it was an issue with the new ROM, so I then downgraded back to the stock 2.17/1.47.1 ROM from the HTCAmerica website. (The downgrade wiped all my settings for MDN and MSID) However, the issue persisted.
- I updated the PRL to 60611. Still no luck.
- Called Sprint, who initiated an over the air PRL update of their own to 60611. Still no Verizon roaming. Sprint says they are "investigating" and will get back to me, whatever that means...
The only other thing I can think to do is to downgrade again back to 2.09/1.40.
Also another question, when you view ##778#, does your phone show anything on the "A-Key" page under the "Authentication Key" setting now that you have roaming working? Mine is currently blank, and I have read a couple threads talking about needing to figure it out, but those users all seemed to be Verizon customers. I would be interested to find out if Sprint customers have that setting or not.
This issue is driving me nuts, and any help is greatly appreciated.
Call sprint technical support and tell them you need an "HLR Reload". If they don't know what this is, ask to speak to someone who does.

Wow. Genius! Got Sprint technical support on the phone and asked for the "HLR Reload." The guy knew exactly what I was talking about and was able to do it right away. I am now able make calls and get data while roaming (currently using 2.17/1.47.1).
Thanks again!
glad to know it worked

wow, now i know what i need to do w/ my 3.16 rom
edit: got a call from spint. the tech guy said that he found an authentication failure on my account and reset it. will test the roaming again when i get home. he also had no clew what the "HLR reload" is...
edit2: whatever reset sprint did at their end seems to work. voice/1x roaming is working now, still no evdo though.
Still wont work for me *sigh*

I called and had them do this, but i had no luck. Still no EVDO roaming in places where there should be. I can make and recieve roaming call and data roam in 1X but evdo is gone. This is on both the 60610 and 60611 PRL. EVDO roaming worked on both PRL's with the 1.47 radio and 2.17 rom.
Any more ideas?
well I thought I didn't have these problems, but now I'm not certain. I don't think I've ever been able to EVDO roam on verizon, at least not sice I started paying attention which was already after moving to a 2.17 with 1.40 radio and orginal PRL. I know verzion has evdo in this area, but sprint doesn't. Maybe there is no agreement here for evdo becuase of that? I guess it couldn't hurt to try this trick and see if I get it.
I found more problems using 3.16. I did encounter the roaming authentication error. So I called, got the HLR reload. That made things MUCH worse. Now nothing works. My MSID and whatnot are all correct and I see signals, but can't make calls or data connections. Sprint tried some things but nothing worked. I'm going to do a hard reset and see what happens.
Sprint was surpisingly willing to work with me knowing that I am using the test rom though... but in the end still suggested I revert to an official rom when nothing worked out.
Anyway, not sure I'd reccomend the HLR reload on the 3.16... try at your own risk.
holy crap
sorry to hear that
if you get it figured out, lemme know what fixed it.
I suspect sprint just hit the wrong button. I hard rest... still no dice, but I noticed that dialing *2 does work.. normal numbers and network don't. Seems like an authentication issue. I doubt seriously it has anything to do with the rom, but I just flash 2.17, casue otherwise I don't hink I'll get far with sprint.
Now when I try to make it call it tells me the phone has not been activated. (with 3.16 I just got the call end dings imeediately)
SO when I fix this and flash back to 3.16, will I dare to try this again after roaming gets broken again?... tough call.
Edit... still need to fix MDN and MSID in the 2.17 .. more soon.
Edit: fixed MDN and MSID in 2.17... now having the same problem as in 3.16... ding ding ding... no call. Looks like I have to call sprint again.
ON the phone with sprint now. Have rebooted for them a couple of times. This guy is still stumped and he doesn't seem generically ignorant.
I started a new thread for my issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1881522#post1881522
You might want to read it before doing any HLR updates in 3.16 though. I'm on my third rom today and a few hours with sprint tech and I still can't make calls.
(EDIT
SOLVED... see above thread. It seems they messed me up badly when they did the HRL reload... however.. it doesn't have to be done badly... at least now we know the fix if it happens to someone else.. so don't let my experience stress you too much. Now to upgrade roms again.
and voice roaming works now..
Roaming not working
ahhh!!! after the upgrade, i cannot roam on vzw...
Called and spoke to several reps... no one knows what HLR Reload is... according to them turning the phone off and taking out the battery for a few minutes will force the HLR reload....
I don't know what to do.... These reps are impossible to deal with.. Anyone have any suggestions?

THIS WAS THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM.. below is the update
I just flashed to No2chems newest rom 5048 (i think)
looks good. when i soft reset the phone immediately goes into a digital roam and only allows my calls to go to BLUE WIRELESS and their default message.. then about 2 minutes later my phone works just fine.. does anybody have any clue why this is happening?
I called sprint to verify the numbers and she told me all my numbers were correct
should my msid and mdn match though? what gives.... im getting frustrated
I tried to go to DCD's 2.1 rom, and im getting the same errors...
why does the phone not allow the calls to go through.. before i roommate had the same issues before.. his MSID/MSL/ESN were all incorrect...

UPDATED
BRAND NEW PHONE>> tried it again..... results were the same..... STRAIGHT TO DIGITAL ROAM ON STARTUP for about 2-5 minutes where i cant make or recieve calls or texts...
this time no need to run the relocker as its a new phone.. so i flashed the unofficial sprint rom, then i ran the unlocker.... then i ran the DCD rom... this is exactly how i did my room mates phone 3 weeks ago.. his never had an issue...
My phone reboots and immediately goes to digital roam and puts me on blue wireless
His phone did the same thing atfirst then went he got the msid put back in and his worked flawlessly... my msid and all those numbers are 100% correct...
Please help me.. after about 3 minutes it goes off and the phone works fine.. the lag is super annoying since i soft reset everyday pretty much... PLEASE HELP ME
same thing happened to me. You need to reset your A-Key. Contact your service provider and get that 26 dig number from them and input it.
Fixed mine
where does it go? lol.. ill call and ask thanks..
im on sprint
MY msid and mdn are my phone number
my unlock code and msl are the same number
and my esn's are the same as they were prior to the rom
what else could it be.. from what I understand sprint leaves the akey blank... so now what do I do?
Im not to sure how sprint works but for verizon they have over the air programing does sprint
what would that mean?

Im trying to reflash from the get go once again... do i need to go back beyond my 2.4 olipro step? or should i be good from there?
NO dice... im still stuck when the phone resets (soft) i cant make or recieve calls for about 4-5 minutes.. then it seems to work just fine.
Im trying the DCD rom again from the begining.. thats what i did with the room mates and his worked eventually... as for mine
so far, im just getting a "D and a triangle" in the top right corner for about 3-5 minutes before my phone was working.... (and it does this EVERY TIME i soft reset)... any ideas? im soo close to just wanting to throw this phone
UPDATE WITH NEW PHONE AT TOP OF POST
Im stumped .. PLEASE HELP ME... sprint just gave me a new phone.. and im having the same outcome
Went back to 1.4 radio and custels 1.1 and its working good...
no gps for me...
i have found with sprint that when i reflash my phone even though the mdn and msid were correct. i wouldnt be able to receive any incoming calls or txt. so ive been going in and changing them to a different number then going back in and changing them back to my phone number. I normally have to wait a little bit for it to go from digital roaming back to the sprint network but it still seems to fix it.
yea.. same here.. it takes like 3 minutes no joke... my roomates phone did the same thing and now it works fine.. oh well
NOW MY INTERNET AND WEATHER *homeplugin* isnt connecting wtf.. seriously lol
any ideas for why the webs not working?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=370626
same problem.. no resolution yet.... what gives
when u booted up did u go to roaming right awaY?
Yes... immediately.. and when it roamed.. all calls went straight to "blue wireless recordings" (im on sprint) 5 minutes later... everything was working right again though
Mine does this too after flashing to DCD 2.3.1
its not the dcd rom, my phone did the same thing on the stock unofficial 3.27 rom... STRAIGHT to digital roam for about 5 minutes...

Do you have the right PRl ok this might fix it
But get your MSID and MDN from your phone And backup all your data you want
##786# and do a reset
So I installed CM7 following the wiki on there site, using Revolutionary.io Everything worked fine, got s-off, installed the CWM recovery and then installed CM7. Well when I boot to CM7 the phone is telling me that it is no longer activated. It worked perfectly before. Ive rooted several EVOs on Sprint in the past and have no issues, didnt know if anyone had has some similar problems before and what they did to fix it.
This is a common Revolutionary bug.
You can try to take the battery out for a full minute and then go to settings, update, update profile. Then update the PRL. This did not work for me.
If that fails you need to try to send text messages and record the error codes when they fail. Call sprint from a different phone and give them those codes (dont tell them you rooted or s-off'ed) Hopefully you get someone with half a brain and they ask you for the IMEL code (behind the battery) and reset your phone. It took me 3 calls (and resets) to Sprint over a week but finally it stuck. On a friends phone it only took 1 reset by Sprint to get it to work. If you have any call or text failures after Sprint resets it you need to call them again.
I personally believe this is caused by a failure in the hands-free activation mechanism preformed after running Revolutionary.
Is it possible that you flashed a GSM rom aka the wrong radios? I'm assuming you mean it has no network connections by "not activated", some more detail might help you get a solution quicker.
Good luck!
Well after some reading, people were saying that I should go back to stock and then reactivate. So I did that and when back to CM7 and and nothing. Others were saying to play with the MSL buy dialing ##3282 or 228 but I didn't have the code for it so I just went back to CM7 and it turns out it works now. Not sure why but who the hell cares. Sucks that Revolutionary has those issues. Its worked great for me so far.
I had this happen too right after I rooted a week ago using Revolutionary.
It's no big deal and you don't need to waste your time switching roms or jumping through hoops just call Sprint and tell the your phone just stopped receiving calls.
In my case my 3g data worked but not texts or calls. I called Sprint and just said my phone wasn't making or receiving texts or calls and I wasn't sure why.
They just reset something on their end or whatever they do and I was good to go. No need to do anything else.

Hello all,
First post on XDA; I've been searching for this issue for the past 4 hours, and found very little. I hope I haven't missed anything.
Long Story
Had a rooted phone, tried to flash JellyBAM; worked, except that kernel got messed up (touchscreen didn't work). Problem remained even after restoring HTC Sense. I assumed it was b/c my phone still had S-ON.
After successfully running DirtyRacun on my Evo 4g LTE, I flashed JellyBAM 7.6.2 (using TWRP 2.4.4.0, wiped Dalvik, Cache, Factory Reset & System first). Everything worked fine, except that there is no mobile network whatsoever. When booting JellyBAM, it prompts me to activate my phone:
"A special call needs to be made to activate your phone service. After pressing 'Activate', listen to the instructions provided to activate your phone."
I do this, but the problem is that I get an automated message: "Your account is not authorized to make calls to this phone number. If you would like to have additional capabilities added to your account, please call Customer Service."
This is the same message I get trying to make any phone call. Nothing (data, calls, etc) works on the mobile network now. I called Sprint to see if they could simply de-active then reactive my phone, but it appears to them as already activated. The tech I spoke w/ thinks I may have deleted the Sprint programming.
This sounds plausible, but what's REALLY WEIRD is that *2 still dials Sprint perfectly, and holding 1 still tries to check voicemail. So clearly some aspects of it connect with Sprint still. I have no idea what's messed up, unfortunately.
I don't believe JellyBAM is the culprit here, b/c after DirtyRacun but before flashing JellyBAM, I still had this problem.
Helpful Info
Android Version: 4.2.2
Radio Version: 1.12.11.1119
Kernel version: 3.0.73-g5d13a2c
JellyBAM 7.6.2
Question
Is there anything I can do to fix this so that my phone can reconnect with and use Sprint's mobile network? I'd really like to preserve JellyBAM, S-Off, and Root, given the amount of time and effort it took to get those working. Thank you so much, any help would be greatly appreciated.
First, try updating your radio.
I'd say to RUU back to stock and see if the problem persists. If it does then take it to Sprint and they should give you a replacement if you have the YEP. I had a similar but not so screwey situation, a few actually, like yours and when I lost all network Sprint replaced my phone. I've always had success dialing my voicemail after attempted activations and then my phone would kick back in within about 15 minutes while keep texting and calling my home phone.

Thank you for your response, I really appreciate the help.
I updated my radio, which went smoothly, but unfortunately it didn't work. What's frustrating is that I don't even know what the problem is. I know it isn't the ROM I flashed (since it had the same problem on HTC Sense before I flashed JellyBAM). It seems to have started after DirtyRacun S-Off process.
I'm still pretty noob so I don't know what else besides radio it could be. I'm really reluctant to try and restore my phone to stock due to the amount of time I spent learning to root and S-Off it. Wouldn't want that to be in vain, though I might not have a choice at this point.
Is there something I should try next?

Before calling sprint, Google the 4g lte dialer codes, I'm sure there is one that activates the wireless reactivation process (that was the case with my old gs3)

I know after achieving S-off, I had to call Sprint due to a security issue. I couldn't make calls or anything.
It was painless and took all of 5 minutes.

Within the last week, I downloaded and installed the latest update for the Sprint S9+ (ARG7). Before getting the update, Calling Plus was working fine. The transition from wifi to data during a call worked great. After taking the update, CP is hit and miss. Sometimes it's enabled, sometimes it isn't. It usually only enables itself while on wifi. When on a call and leaving wifi, CP completely drops and the call drops. Is anyone else having this issue? If so, how did you fix it? I'm really hoping I won't have to reset my phone.
It all makes sense now.... I've been on the phone with Sprint and Samsung the least few days and nobody can figure out why. They wiped and reinstalled everything... Still nothing... Went today to Sprint and they gave me another sim card.... Still don't work.... So I just looked up online and see that Sprint is doing away with calling plus and finally getting voilp..... And the technician said that Sprint was discontinuing calling plus

I ended up resetting my phone and it fixed it at that time. I still randomly have Calling Plus crap out. No idea why it's happening still. Sprint is indeed doing away with Calling Plus in favor of VoLTE. People have been saying don't take the update for your phone for VoLTE of you're not in a soft launch market.
