I have been on several KitKat ROMs and have the same problems with all of them. I am not able to connect to any WiFi network. I can see them but when try to connect it just goes to saved ...or out of range. Also I have to constantly turn airplane mode on and off because I lose data. I have signal but can't connect. I did see this mentioned somewhere but can't remember where. I have started from scratch and it does seem to affect only KitKat ROMs. Does anyone else have a this problem. Currently on paranoid but I was on beanstalk before.

You tried CM11?
No...but aren't the others based on CM? I know someone said KitKat doesn't play nice with some routers. But shouldn't it connect to something? I can't think of the Evo 4g LTE ROM thread where the op mentioned toggling airplane mode. But I think something about the RIL was mentioned.

All except Omni. But sometimes the CM ROMs posted on the forum have some fixes that might not have made it to the other builds.
I assume you're on the new partition layout?
Yes I am. I will try to install cm or omni. I know these problems were mentioned by other users here with no clear answer. Last post on the carbon thread the user asked if the update fixed the data issues. I might have to go back to sense. When I get data back, my pebble blows up to catch all the missed notifications.

The RIL problem was mentioned in the Omni ROM thread, in the op.

CM recently merged Qualcomm RIL which might address some of the data issues. Thus my suggestion to try CM .
Thanks I will..

FWIW the only KitKat Rom that gave me reliable data was the latest Dirty Unicorn release. I started having some issues with random freezes/reboots so I switched to the Capt's newest 4.3 update, but DU was the only 4.4 Rom that worked for me data-wise. Don't know if you tried it already or not, but wanted to mention it just in case.
It seems omni works great data wise. But no KK ROM has reliable WiFi for me. Thanks for the reply. I may try dirty unicorn.

Did you try CM?
(specifically the latest one on the new layout, as there were updates to the WiFi code)
P.S. That's why I suggested it in the first place.

I used to have the WiFi connection problems too, earlier on in KitKat development. Since updating to the new partition, I have not encountered it on any ROMs I've flashed.

No I haven't tried cm yet. I will soon. I am out of town and having to download ROMs over 3G. I installed the roms that actually finished downloading. I will try CM tonight when I get home.

My girl's phone is doing the same " not in range" thing to. She's stock rooted 4.3. But it's been happening since 4.1. We thought the update would fix it, but nope. So that makes me wonder if it's some kind hardware malfunction.

Very well could be a hardware issue, especially since the problem has persisted throughout the latest update.

The part I really don't understand is, if it's a problem with her WiFi antenna...why are surrounding networks showing up when she turns her WiFi on? They show up and when she connects, they come up as "not in range". I actually think this same problem is affecting her ability to tether.

LTE Connectivity?
Has anyone been able to have LTE connectivity with a kitkat rom? If yes, which one? I've tried DU 4.4, the screen it showed "LTE", but there was no connectivity with the data.
Has anyone determined where the APNS file is located on the stock sense ROM? One idea suggested is to try to copy the stock APNS file, and copy to the KitKat rom, I've tried to use some APN backup programs, but they do not seem to function properly in the Sense environment.

I've been running the latest PAC Rom builds (old partitions still, haven't taken the time to update to the new) for about a week or so and haven't had any LTE issues. It still has the roaming bug (says roaming but it's not), but connecting to LTE and pulling down 15+ Mbps here in Chicagoland.
Not all of the nightlies would boot for me, but I've had success with the 3/5 and the 3/10. Worth checking out, not too different than DU when you download the Google Now Launcher, just missing Halo.
just wanted to say, I've been running a CM11 nightly for about a month now [2/11/14 I believe], and I've had wifi issues, probably about 3 times. The issue was it wouldn't connect to wifi at all, it would either show no networks in range or not connect when I tell it to.
A simple reboot fixed the issue for me though, that's why I haven't bothered to update my ROM yet [I will, if there is a milestone or stable release, otherwise I might stick with this nightly for some months--just because I hate to restore all my apps and settings, quite bothersome and I don't have the time anymore to mess with that kind of stuff as I used to]. edit: wait I ust remembered that someone told me you can dirty flash nightlies. can anybody tell me if dirty flashing a recent nightly over a month+ old rom is alright? or will it cause issues? from what I remember, if the build number is the same [e.x. 4.4.2] then it will probably be fine [unless stated you cannot dirty flash in the changelog, but I don't have time to read all 30+ changelogs]
gl trying to figure the issue out though!

I believe it is a mod done in the SystemUI.apk. Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208898
Edit** Maybe a kernel issue? I remember having the same issue on my EVO 4G with downloading roms and/or radios. What radio are you using?

Just the stock one I assume, unless the rom flashed something different. I'll have to flash another rom to see if it fixes it. I have seen the systemui edits that have borked 3g but I've ruled that out in my case.

The latest CDMA radio is 0.97.10.0530. Look in Baseband version is Settings and see what you have. If you have the older one, you can find the latest here:

I haven't seen any roms that include the radio. You usually have to manually update that yourself...

A few roms I've tried have this problem. I'm wondering if some HTC apk that spies on you was removed and broke it.

So I checked on my Dad's unrooted, stock, upgraded via ota ICS Sprint Evo3d phone and his data usage was being monitored in settings. So, something is being or was changed on the initial rooted roms that all the other roms are based on.
hey buddy, i had a similar issue after flashing to ICS from GB. i read a ton and found that i needed to go into settings/mobile network/access point names and set up my access points. i am on GSM and found it in one of the threads under the general section or maybe you can look at your dad's and see what the access points are.
hope this works
good luck

Curious as to what you're looking for specifically. I really wanted to stick with CM10 but I've found the following issues which have me looking elsewhere:
- Doesn't properly connect / Switch Wireless Access Points with the same SSID (doesn't seem to know to grab the one with the best signal strength like other ROMS do)
- Doesn't work with LTE for me, in fact if I don't disable LTE networking it will try to connect to LTE but never connect and leave data disabled instead of falling back to 3g
- Google Wallet doesn't work (I know this is Google's doing).
- Camera doesn't seem to focus properly or work as well as with stock or FreshROM. Even when i touch focus it won't focus properly all the time.
- No panoramic mode for cam but you can do burst
I LOVE the performance and feel of the ROM but I need my data access to work properly.... I also love the updates and staying on top of them.
Anyone know of the best alternative to CM 10 that's JB, good on updates and works properly?
Have you tried the newest cm10? I'm using it at a place right now where I Dont usually get connection. Seems to work great for me... even better than sense... even with lte.

So I managed to fix the LTE issue by reflashing and NOT choosing the option from Titanium backup to restore my old Android ID - for whatever reasons this breaks LTE for me and probably anyone else.
Is there a way to compile your Titanium Backup into a flashable .zip + restore data and launcher data?
Multi BSSID is still a problem for me (moving between APs with the same BSSID).

When I am running CM10 or slimbean I have no issues with data either 4glte or 3g but when I try to install a sense rom it shows I am getting 4g or 3g but I get a bunch of data errors and I can't actually connect to anything. My base band version is 1.12.11.1119 wich I think is the newest but still it doesn't work. I am even thinking about unrooting and going back to stock. The problem with the aokp builds is nobody can understand me when I call them. If anybody has any suggestions for the data issue or the problem with people not being able to hear me on aokp builds please let me know. I am getting very frustrated.
If you don't want to use the newest cm10 or 10.1 then search in the jellybam thread for a Mic fix.
It's in the last couple of pages.
For the data issue not sure. When on a sense rom you tried a prl and profile update?

Very first post so please let me know if I should ask this in a different way. I'm not new to flashing roms this has just been the first time I've been stuck without and understanding to a clear answer. Have flashed several versions of KK and all of them as of late for our device "EVO LTE" do not seem to have internal data working. This was a problem in CM10.2 and was fixed early in the nightlies with an APN and GPS fix. Was just wondering if there might be something I can do to get my data to work without having to rely on WiFi as I love to use my navigation or maps or google now, etc. while driving around town. Thanks in advance as I look forward to being a helpful participant to this forum for our device.:good:

Toggle airplane mode on and off, then data on and off. Do this a few times. If still no data, then I'm not sure what's happening. 4.4 has data issues overall across the board.

The fixes for 4.3 would be the APN and GPS fix. Roaming bug won't be fixed until it's fixed in cm and a new build of Beanstalk is compiled. You'll have to wait.
