Has anyone got zipthemer to work? I'm using Mahdi ROM and trying to theme halo but it says systemui.apk is missing. I have it working on my nexus 4 just can't figure out what's wrong. Other then systemui.apk not being in the directory its looking for. Can't copy and paste to the directory it gives me a fail error. Should I just download the apk from somewhere and drop it into the directory? Or....? Thanks for reading.

Yup I use zip themer just fine. I have softkeyz for cm11, mahdi and infecteds backed up to use with which ever rom I fancy. Are you using the kitkat edify zip?

Hey mate.
I'll upload an image to support my horrid explanation:
Find you mahdi rom zip you flashed.
Then go to ZipThemer and from the drop down choose "Update Edify", then choose the rom and click "Config"
Now, ZipThemer is made for all roms with root. Meaning the paths of the files can be different. For my rom, when I need to locate systemUi, it's in "priv-app" and not "app", so basically inside the ZipThemer file, before I cook it, I need to change the path to the one in my rom image. This is what I put in the image. To the right is the cm rom and to the left is the zip i want to cook up. So looking at the path in the xml on the right, I changed to path from app to priv-app in order for ZipThemer to find my systemUI.apk. All you need to do is locate the systemUI inside of your rom and them open up the ZipThemer.zip and change that xml as I did. Of course to the right folder. Transfer the file back to your phone and rebuild it.
Good luck.

Wow that sounds long winded.
Every time I use a new rom I create a new set of soft keys.
I store the original download on my external sd card. I also store my created softkeyz(the name of the soft keys I use) update zip and undo zip on the external sd card in a separate folder for each rom.
I have three roms on the go at present and two are nightlys.
Now when I create my softkeys. I update my edify using kitkat edify zip. I use zip themer to navigate to my folder on my external sd card.
Once I get the success notification, I build my theme. I hit theme + button and once again use zip themer to navigate to my softkeyz zip.
Once it's located I hit build it.
Once built I have 2 folders (update and undo folders) which are located on my internal sd. I move them to my external sd card and then boot into recovery. Once there I flash them. (I store and flash every thing from external memory)
I've not had any issues using this method other than the odd bootloop which tells me it's time to recreate my zip theme because something has been changed in the latest rom.
Hopefully you can follow what I'm saying.

It's a fairly quick thing to do. He only has to do this prior to what you're doing. If he got a hold of a different ZipThemer.zip, he'll have to redirect the zipfile xml to build to the right folder. - Once he's done this once, the file won't change again next time. So he's fine. I didn't know about the KitKat edify. I just edify from the rom I just installed to make sure everything is up to date for my specific rom. And since I have the rom on the device from just flashing, it rly isn't an issue. All I meant by this, is that even if you have the right edify, if the zipthemer file isn't meta'd right, it wont work.
Thanks guys for all your help just changed the path in the XML file

Nice theme. Sent some donation love your way
i've been waiting for this! before i complain, i'd like to thank you, i'm such a huge fan of the stock android interface, the new blur stuff was making my eyes bleed..
is there any way i can exclude this from installing the droid 1 sms/mms app[mms.apk]? i'm using the modified sms app that comes with the epic rom and installing this theme messes seems to break it.
something to note- i used 7zip to browse through the theme zip and noticed a conversations.apk.
the interesting thing is that before installing your theme, the 'text messaging' app[conversations.apk] works.
after installing, i notice that there is an mms.apk. i used root explorer to rename it to .bak and the 'messaging' app that appeared after installing your theme disappeared.
but whenever i open 'text messaging' it just closes. no FC no error, it just closes.
Try reinstalling the conversations to apk by clicking it in root explorer. I got my terminal emulator to work when it was doing the same thing by doing that

Sure, just open the zip file and navigate to /system/app. In there you will want to delete conversations.apk
I actually didn't even notice it was different. I will add the stock conversation.apk later. Thanks for the info

Where did you see mms.apk? If you go to /system/app inside the zip file, there is no mms.apk... It must've came from whatever ROM you're using.

yea i think i may be mixed up. i have to do some testing, i'll report back.
i also noticed that putting this theme on top of the epic rom makes doubles of a couple apps.
for example, now there are two music players. when you try to open either, it asks what you'd like to complete the actoin with, 'com.android.music' or 'com.google.android.music'
i'll compile whatever errors i can find for you and report back

These themes are built for stock droid 2 after rooted and deodexed... I don't make them specific for any ROM's. If you're installing over a ROM, you're bound to run into problems.

with some slight modifications i got it working flawlessly. i ended up using the theme porter to modify the sms app included in epic's rom to be themed to the stock conversation app included in you rom.
if anyone is interested i'll post it.
I'm assuming this has the Stock D1 icons (the ones in stock android 2.0-2.2)?
Is there any way I can extract those icons and put them in another theme?
you could locate the png, extract it, replace it in the new theme.
Updated to 2.45. Also added the d1 lockscreen. Creds go to ghostlypickel for the pngs.

1. Download the apk.
2. Make a copy of the file and rename it to a "zip" extension instead of "apk". You have to be able to allow windows to change the extentions. Folder/options/ etc..
3. Using your preferred zip/archive method, open the zip file, open the "lib" folder, and open the "armeabi-v7a" folder, and extract "libjumper.so".
4. Use adb, root explorer, or your preferred method of modifying the /system contents on your device, and place a copy of "libjumper.so" in /system/lib.
5. [I'd suggest backing up Music.apk by adb pull or renaming to Music.bak.] Use adb, root explorer, or whatever to place a copy of the downloaded apk file in /system/app, renamed as "Music.apk".
7. reboot
Works fine on void Echo
Does it look good even if it's for tablets instead of phones?
Does it have any widgets?
Can you post screenshots or photos of it running in your phone?
Did you notice some bugs/crashes?
Thanks!

It's just a theme maker. You can change the statusbar color and design (Sense-looking, Cyanogen, etc.), the volume bars and notifications menu. It's just a quicker way of customizing your phone, without having to modify the framework and everything individually. It's safer and less advanced, but of course, it has its limitations since it cannot theme everything you could by decompiling, and such and such.
Looks like this:

I can't get it to work I get a (Status 0) error. The workaround they suggest is:
1. Unzip your ROM and find
META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary file
2. Put this file in the UOT zip (overriding UOT's file)
but, I there isn't a update-binary file in the ROM! I go into META-INF/com/google/android and the only file is /update-script. Help me!

Ya i just pulled the two file right out of my phone with file explorer the system-ui.apk and system-framework or whatever it is and followed the directions with amend scripting and it worked great.
^Yeah, I just forgot to switch to amend scripting.
i tried to use it but only got as far as making a settings.uot
anyone that know what they are doing willing to make this a theme for a stock rom?
just remove the txt extension on the end and upload to the UOT Kitchen?
You have to upload your framework-res.apk and systemui.apk then go to summary and click pickup...then it goes to the pickup page and it takes 15-30min for your theme to be made, use that settings file go back go straight to summary tab upload all needed files and cook it then just sit on the pickup page it will auto reload until your theme pops up then download and apply...do you know where to get the apk files you need, i pulled mine straight off my phone with es file explorer. Let me know if you have trouble
Is your phone rooted? what version OS are you running?

Its not located on the internal or external storage. It's on the phone itself which you can't see from the PC without using adb. You need to use a root file explorer on your phone itself. ES File Explorer is free and can be granted root access. Then you'll see your system folder.

I searched for Vigor_VZW_bootanimation.zip and even just bootanimation.zip and still came up with nothing. I must be doing something wrong here.
Thanks for the help
EDIT: so i found a VZW_qhd_bootanimation.zip
This must be it!

Every single file I have on mediafire is doing that. I have no idea what's going. I have submitted a support ticket so hopefully I hear something back soon.
All my files should be working again.
With my previous HTC Inspire, certain items (like and were auto updated to neato little green Android guy emoji's).
Looks like stock we have rather large emojis similar to the smilies shown here on xda (from a pc web browser).
Anyway we could get a swap for a cool pack of emoji's (preferable the Android guy)?
FWIW, I found a link online with some supposedly stock JB emoji's which I guess HTC isn't using:

If it helps the devs, I was told that these are stored here:
framework-res.apk (I can't confirm or deny if this is true though)
They are in the framework. You can swap them yourself, just use 7zip to open the .apk. dont extract it. Make sure the smilies are named the same as the HTC ones. And just drag and drop them. You should find them in the drawable HDPI folder.

Sorry for sounding base, where can I find the 'drawable HDPI folder'? I have ES file explorer on my phone (figure I'll use this to find the file and transfer it to my pc to make the swap).
**Nevermind, found it in /system/framework/framework-rs.apk
No, you have to copy the framework-res.apk to your computer and use 7zip. Just right click on the .apk and choose open with 7zip, you can then edit images in the framework but not .xml files as that would require decompiling.

Thanks, I just need to find the actual image files I want to swap it with. I gave my old HTC to my brother in law or I'd pull em from there.
**Think I found em here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332916 (the first zip file)
Sheesh, got myself into quite the pickle there. I used 7zip, swapped out just the emoji icons (think there were 17 of them). I then used 7zip to 'create archive' and called it framework-res.apk (as opposed to the .zip it tried to give). I then copied this file to a folder on my sdcard, and transferred it to the device.
I went back into es file explorer, went into system, and renamed framework-res.apk to framework-res_old.apk and then the **** hit the fan. All my apps started closing on me.
I booted into recovery (TWRP) went into advanced, and used file renamer. I moved my modified framework-res.apk file to the system/framework directory, but after a reboot, it just got stuck at the htc one boot screen (never loaded).
I went back into recovery, and gave up. I just renamed framework-res_old.apk back to framework-res.apk and rebooted to system. Now its back to how it was.
I figure there must be a smarter way to swap the file out.
If you open with 7zip, you'll see the files here:
path_here..\framework-res.apk\framework-res\res\drawable-hdpi\emo_ (everything with emo_ was swapped and not renamed)
Well, I swapped out the files in:
res\drawable-hdpi\
and
res\drawable-xhdpi\
The updated file here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24838537/framework-res.apk
I booted into recovery (TWRP), mounted system, and then copy and pasted the updated framework-res.apk file. Then I rebooted to system.
For whatever reason, if I go into messages and put in say or (and send) it still comes up with the old emoji's.
Not sure if the info is cached somewhere. I'm so close!!!
Any place I could be missing? The icons show up in the preview (like where it list your contacts and show like the first line or so). Just not within the message.
Quick update, I've noticed that also within google talk, the icons I replaced are showing. Just not from within the stock/oem messaging app (nor att messages which I think has its own completely different icons/emoji's)
