Testers needed

Hi guys. We all saw that racht tried to port HTC 2.1 and 2.2 ROMs for our X8s. Unfortunately a lot of things don't work, so now I'm tryin to set properly working X8 2.1 drivers to that 2.1 HTC rom (or maybe 2.2).
Next I will make files that you could restore through xRecovery, so i need testers for that.
I'll help than I can=)
I can test it out for bugs too
You can count on me too
Sent from my X8 with bootloader removed
count me in
I can test , my x8 is not my main phone so I can cope if it goes wrong.
Ok guys, thanks for answers but now I'm tryin to start phone with modifiyed drivers. 'Clean' system works good, but if i change anything, or try to paste any library from original X8 rom i can't boot it again.
So i'm still working on it. xRecovery helps me a lot
i did next............copy all apk files and libraries from original SE firmware, to the HTC 2.2 firmware. but after phone starts, and trying to unlock it, it show a critical error in android.phone and rebooting. may be it help you. i don't have much time for experiments, but i've got a tester. so may be enjoy our works here? post what you paste in you version, and i can post here what i am insert.

Thanx a lot, that you are tryin' to do something. Waiting for the release too.
I'm looking forward too, to get a fully working ROM.
i have a little suggestion
why dont we donate to cyangenmod team to creat a combartable with x8 room
sorry ,, v.bad english

Good to see a development team for this, I am interesting in testing

For guys who want to unpack and repack system files I'll post tutorial tommorow. Maybe sb will have lucky day.
It was hard to find way to extract system.img (linux file system) on Windows, but i found it with X10's dev help and a lot of googling(i was 100% noob, now maybe 98% xD). Same with repack it again.
And i'm not a dev, just noob who don't want to wait for others, and try to make sth.
And what more - htc widgets aren't working in X8 orig ROM - i tried it so stop asking.

Help for Newbies, All questions & Answers for X10.

Request senior members to help
Hi Guy's,
A similar thread was opened by a forum moderator in another forum so i have contacted Pilot and going to give it a try.
The aim is to help newbies/beginners/anybody by answering any questions/issues they have in this thread, they can ask what ever they want no matter what rom/kernel or anything else they are having difficulty with, a place where they feel no threat for asking such questions.
The thread is to be run by not me but all senior members who are willing to help, the aim is to clear the Dev threads of all the unnecessary questions that are becoming more frequent and making it harder and harder to follow rom development.
For those seeking help, always try and help yourself first, most things can be found here..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=678513
If you feel you still need help then fire away, hopefully somebody will have answers for you, please keep questions related to roms in develpopment not stock roms but will cover everything from adb to wlod's.
Please, if you have been helped in anyway by members do not forget to leave thanks.
As usual any new question threads started and not aimed here will be removed by the moderators so please lets keep our development forum clean.
Can i just add that a lot of questions are being asked that can be found in the sticky's, please read those first as most things are covered there.
Thanks guy's for you help.
good idea!
well lets start a little something off then..
1) is there a way to implement voltage control on startup without the need of an app? if so, how?
2) i cant seem to change boot animation. tried changing bootanimation in the normal system/media folder & data/local folder via xrecovery install custom zip file.. any ideas?
thank you!
Awesome idea mate!!
Now anyone can ask questions without creating a new thread or getting burnt!!
@topic: dunno why but my CPU spy seems not to be working, fc'ing all the time even after rebooted. I am on DooM's 3b kernel using J's ROM.
Thank you!!

GOOD IDEA!
Very good idea, I also think this should be sticky.
But:
It should have a better thread name like:
Questions regarding roms FCs/Errors/Reboots/WLODs go HERE!
Or something that could let extremely clear that if they want to ask something that are not directly a development(but regarding it) should go in here.
Another but, rsrsrs:
The thread should remain only about roms that are developed in here, anything regarding original SE rom, unless tweaked and posted in this area should go to Q&A.
You deserve a thanks!

Thanks for the support buddy and the thanks.
I did wonder about the name, maybe something clearer is needed, will see how it goes but thanks for the advice.
Your other point is valid but it would be better if we do not put restrictions on what can be asked in the op as it defeats the whole idea of the thread.
I think that you should also have a set layout for each problem that way it's easier for people to understand what's going on and it's also easier for other people with the same problem to search
Just a thought

No, I mean, no restrictions at all should be done when they question, it should be more like advises, something like:
inside the thread > First post:
You can ask/question anything in here but keep in mind this is guided for ROM developed in xda not for stock roms.
Questions regarding stock rom may be question on Q&A if not already answer that, if you have doubts regarding the best place you can try here no problems with that.
The only request for the thread should be that the questions must be related some how to errors/failures/wlods after using some apps or tweak, requests, doubts regarding new stuff.
As stock doubt like:
Does x10 flash led works good? should i buy a x10? rsrsrsrs
With time a FAQ can be added to the first post to keep the thread clean and be even more helpful to newbies.

If you made your own Bootanim make sure the zip is uncompressed (ie the files were added with "store" as the compresion other wise it will no worky
then just like @acerulz said adb push or copy it over the excisting one @ system/media/
Pvy.

Hi Buddy,
As your issues you are saying with the games are to do with stock then i do not think anybody here can help you, ask in the Q&A forum see if anybody is having the same problem.
With the wifi, all the roms i know of are fully working, read through some threads and see which rom you would like, it is your personal choice but which ever one you choose there will always be updates to iron out any problems if there are any.
Mac address change
I have a question/request:
How do we change Mac address?
That it is possible I'm sure it is, the problem is that the maximum I could do was to change it for some time(until the adapter was turned off and on again.
I need this to be able to use it on my job as I have only the right to have one mac address.
Being able to use communicator at the office would be very nice, as for now i have to carry the laptop around.
Sometime ago I've tried to question this in Q&A but got no good answer/no help
[Q] X10 Mac Address Change/Spoof How to?
In there I was guided to check this:
Changing(spoofing) MAC address
If someone could help me on this?
In my opinion this would be something that could even become a new option in all roms if the Devs that have knowledge to make it happen like it.
Thanks in advance!

upgradation is definitely awaited and appreciated..
thanks in advance..
Hi guys,
I'm new to modifying Android's roms and here is my problem.. I bought a used SE x10 which has 2.1 firmware.. I heard about 2.3.3 official SE update and went to there website, backed up my data, opened my PC companion to update but it surprised me to keep telling me that my phone is "already up to date"!!
I asked about that and someone told me if the guy who used the phone before me did install a custom rom to my phone before, official ways to update my phone wont work..
so please help and advise me.. either by giving me a solution to that, or to give me a link where i can find answers for my questions..
thank you in advance for your support..
my device info found at "about phone":
Model number: X10a
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Baseband ver.: 2.1.54
Kernel ver.: 2.6.29
Build number: 2.1.A.0.435

ok so i tried to install apj file. i didnt expect it to work that way, i thing that might require some unix permission settings and manual replacing, so the install failed, and this playing with permissions I left for later and went on with the other CWM zip file. This is working like a charm really, it is rich stock keyboard that can provide this "dialer" layout in cyanogenmod. thank you both and the zip is really worth!

[Video Guide] Xperia U --- How to unlock and Root

I had hidden it inside another thread, but figured it should be mentioned in the Q&A for all those that could use it.
For ICS (android 4.0+)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
For GB (android 2.3.7)
It will guide you step by step through the unlocking process and rooting the Xperia U
(same principles apply for P & S but no examples/kernels provided)
Credits (links)
Guide based on the information provided by DoomLord
The 1.564 kernel is made by DoomLord
The 3.184 kernel is made by KeiranFTW
More information about warranty: visit Sony Forum
For the noobs:
Root / Rooting = to lift the default protection of the Android OS and gives you access to all system files that are normally hidden from you
This enables extra functionality but also requires knowledge about the android system to know what is safe to do and what not.
- Simple root use: changing theme elements / new battery icons / individually controlling the LEDs
- Advanced root use: overclocking your CPU / adjusting the OS / making a custom ROM
Nice!!
Is Their Any Solution To Root Without Unlocking Bootloader . I Know Their is One in XPERIA U Development Thread but Its Links Are Not Valid ..and moreover its for Xperia U .564 firmware but I Want it For The .184 ?...
That one was fake.. Might be possible when ICS comes.. But am not sure
Sent from my ST25i
Thanks! It actually helped me root my XPERIA U!
Followed the guide, my U lost the ability to change colors when viewing the themes (cosmic flow) although when viewing images it still works fine. Also started getting some lag. Any way to somehow fix these?

This is a known bug on the Xperia U. However to fix it, all you have to do is install the Light1.1.apk from the following thread (Credits to straciam).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823418
PS: I have not tested this app but I speculate that this will be the solution based on the comments in that thread. I would recommend you to read the thread first. If this helped, do thank me and the developer of the app
@nixx-X1: I would like to request you to incorporate a re-locking guide for Xperia U. I would've done it myself but seems like your video tutorial actually makes things simpler.

Will try to do that when I get home next week thanks. I now have a new issue lol. Recently tried out supercharged kernel by vito, prob is that when I press the power button the screen somewhat flickers before fading to black. It goes fuzzy like in a tv but only quickly. Tried turning off and on my phone but its still there. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

To Un-root, all you need to do is Flash the stock ROM FTF. There are 2 threads in the Xperia U Development thread that has all the information of Download links to the FTF's ICS and GB. Just have a look. Just a quick guided video would be helpful.
---------- Post added at 04:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:11 PM ----------
I am using the Supercharged Kernel too and I do not exactly know if it is a problem coz I believe it is the fade out effect. I never experienced any flicker of any sort. Could you please tell me what precisely is happening? BTW, what ROM are u using?
Thank's!

hi, first of all: you have to root your xperia and install the recovery software! (search root xperia thread in the forum)
after that: you have to put that zip files (from the thread you linked above) in your phone internal memory, and flash with the recovery software!
ps: read again those comments, there are some tricks you can use id something gone wrong!
