Weird.
I have a Nexus 5, HTC One and Note 3.
I have no signal issues with my Nexus 5 and the audio is comparable with the note 3.
Im spoiled by the front facing speakers of the HTC One.
Im getting my One tomorrow (according to ups)... im excited. I have not had an HTC since my HTC One S from two years ago, loved the phone but haven't had a chance to buy the One yet (til now).... The one thing i disliked about the OneS process was having to flash the kernel through adb becuase of s-on. I think the one is similar...
Hey I'm new here too , I've noticed that there is not much Rom development for this phone, and I heard rooting breaks camera and beats audio?

Check out the international forum (htc one forum) there is far more activity there. And I don't recall rooting breaking the camera or beats but it certainly doesn't break them now.

I have grandfathered jump and I still haven't jumped, the only thing the HTC M7 is missing is the Moto X's always listening (you could with gel launcher but since your hardware doesn't have a low power core, there goes your battery life) and the tap to wake of the LG G2 and G3. You can also install a kernel or the knockr app but they both drain battery as it wasn't built into the hardware. The M9 would be great if it was in the format of the M7 but with a real wrap around screen so there are no side bezels seen from the front. Lastly, OIS camera of at least 12mp and good for night shooting,

I have a 2-3 week wait for the nexus 4 i ordered yesterday. Im not so sure its worth the wait. Sure the htc one x+ isnt perfect and has some issues but I'm hearing/reading that the nexus 4 is far from perfect as well. I already know about the htc one x+ wifi/bluetooth issues, even the banding on the screen for those that have noticed this as well. I guess my last question is would a rom like cm10 build remedy those issues somewhat? I'm trying to see if I should hold on to my htc one x+.

That decision is ultimately one you'll need to make but for me its nexus all the way. I am in the 1-2 week category on my nexus 4 order though. I thought I would try a non-nexus device and I will not be keeping this HOX+.

Oh ok, similar situation then. What is your reason/reasons for not wanting to keep your htc one x+? Do you really think the nexus 4 will top it in all areas? I'm not sure the nexus 4 will have this good of a battery life, comparing it to the at&t htc one x+ which so far isnt bad at all.

To answer your question about specs, I personally don't think it matters. Here's why.
I had an SII for a while before purchasing a gnex. IIRC, they were similar in specs (like the hox+ and n4). The camera was a bit worse on the gnex (5mp vs 8mp) but the experience for me was so much better on the gnex. ATT (or someone) decided to disable NFC on the SII and that was eventually fixed but I dislike the idea of features being disabled for petty reasons.
Also, you don't have to worry about carrier bloat or ATT disallowing some app because it will compete with theirs (wallet vs ISIS). Even WiFi hotspots just work on the gnex. The nexus experience is about being free to do whatever you want on your phone. Even if that means you do nothing at all.
So the fact that the specs are similar is just coincidence. My HOX+ was really just intended to be a stopgap until N4s came back in stock.
Sorry for the novel. LOL.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Honestly, the Nexus 4 is further from perfect than HOX+. I was a huge nexus fan in general, but after getting the feedback from N4 users, and playing with it a little, I was more than convinced that the HOX+ was the right choice. I received mine a couple of days ago, and it's great. BTW, I don't seem to have the Wifi issues reported by others, maybe I got lucky,,
Aside from performance, the HOX+ feels much much better in your hand, and is much slimmer, so conveniently fits in your pocket. N4 is a bit bulky, and there are at least a couple of people over on the N4 forum that reported the glass shattering on the back, while the phone was in their pocket.
Such a hard choice. I still don't know what I'm gonna do but for now 1. I don't have the money to buy either device yet and 2. The nexus 4 isn't going to be in stock for the uk until next year. I don't know if I can wait either! If they fix the screen sensitivity issue in a software update then I'll probably jump on the n4 but if it's the hardware then it's a no go. Let me know what you decide to do.
That sucks about the N4 availability in the UK. I was lucky enough to order a Nexus 4 on the 27th and I just got a shipping confirmation. I'll be putting the hox+ on eBay.

AT&T is sending me a brand new LG Optimus G to resolve a customer service issue I experienced with them while trying to troubleshoot an issue, actually a few issues I was having with the phone. So, I have 14 days after it gets here to decide on if I want it or the manager handling my claim said I can contact him and he'll send me the One X+ or the Note 2 instead. Amazing service, especially since I am not being forced to re-new my contract or return my One X that I currently have. What is your opinion?
How big are you?
If you are a largish person with big hands, I'd say go for the Note 2.
I had my heart set on the Note 2 when I went to upgrade my phone. My heart sank when I held it in my hand. It was way too big for me.
So I came home with my LG OG. Can't be happier.

I was really close to buying the Note 2 but after playing with the LGOG...I was sold.
After playing with the LGOG I knew I made the right choice personally.
The stock software isn't given nearly enough credit anywhere on the internet.
To pretend that touchwiz, sense, or any other flavor comes close to the amount of customization this phone has on stock is well.. sad.

This is same dilemma I am in. I have 11 days left to decide but I have an unlocked international One X that has the variant 3 Tegra in it (all 4 cores can run 1.6) and I got the JB update. Each day I like this phone more and more. A few reasons...idle battery drain is amazing, speed and screen are incredible and I saw in store the 16 gig SD was able to be increased to 80 total internal and SD so I figured I would try. I do have one more line to get though...

Is there s off for One X+? I know they way they are updating the OneX to Jelly Bean is a long process with all of the different international cids. There is zero lag on my One X running JB and I am sure X+ is the same but actually I used one in an AT&T store and it was same speeds as my variant 3 One X. Then I tried it again at another store and it was much faster. There's no Sense lag on JB. I am probably going to add a 2nd line and change to family share and split between both phones

That's what I said HTC is not real unlock bootloader, you still have to flash fastboot cmd. There is real unlock bootloader for X+ but need extra hardware and gold card cost extra money , currently only few knows how to do it. Not software not software hack like LGOG.

Hrmm,
I honestly would go with the Optimus G.
Optimus G Pros Vs Htc one X+
-snapdragon s4 pro versus tegra 3 ( s4 pro is 24nm as opposed to tegra 3 40nm) smaller which equals more efficient(also newer)
- light skinned UI vs htc sense
- in terms of aesthetics I think optimus g is better overall. extremely sleek!
-newer better battery I think its lithium ion polymer vs lithium ion
I'm getting my first smartphone via the FedEx man in two days and it's an HTC One X+.
I was seriously considering the LG OG, but, I've not yet had a chance to play with either phone. I ordered mine via walmart wireless, because I was able to get the One x+ for $150 with a $100 wal-mart gift card.
Reading this stuff though, I think I owe it to myself to head over to the AT&T store and check out the LG OG. I can always return the X+ and go the LG OG route. My only concern about the LG OG is that I play a lot of games on my phone and the lack of 'Tegra Zone' games is a bit of an issue. Although, I'm not sure I can name 1 Tegra title that I just HAVE to have.
I briefly owned a Nexus 7 but had to return it due to a hardware fault. If only I could look unto the future with a crystal ball and see what kinds of games are going to be coming out in 6 months, lol. That is what I really need to know!
Anyways, sorry to be so long winded, it's my first post so I can't help it. Only 9 more to go until I make an a$$ of myself in development chat! Yay!
Well... as the title says, I just got my HTC One today! I love this phone so much...

I also just found out yesterday about HTC killing off the One S. Didn't know about that when I sold mine, but now I don't regret it one bit! The commercials were totally right, this phone is everything my phone wasn't. I LOVED my One S, but the ONE is absolutely incredible.
Htc updated the international model to 4.2.2 but knowing HTC it wont be long this phone will quit having updates from htc and if it does it will be year later. I used like HTC when I had the Sensation but after owning the Amaze I became very disappointed with them. Lack of support and dev support were just or worst than LG. But I did played with the One and the S4 side by side and like both. Like there are stuff I like about the one just are there stuff I like about the s4. But I know that Samsung has become very loyal with updates and support. Although back when I had the sensation I hated samsung because of the way they treated vibrant owners

Honestly I am not too worried about getting timely updates. I like the phone the way it is. If I wanted to make sure I got updates quickly, I would have stuck with my Nexus 4 which is an inferior phone to the One.
Its not just about updates!!!!!! Its about proper drivers to new sense and android to make new roms!!! Otherwise CM roms will always be buggy.

By better he means 13MP than 4MP with a bigger block for more light. I played with both phones today and the s4 beats it one on day light where you will be using the camera 90% at time. Also S4 low light feature is not bad.. But when HTC comes out with a new Sense version is sad but they will not put it on the one. just like they did with the rest of their devices.. The only reason I would get the one if for something different. I've been jumping back and forward with samsung and htc.. Now LG is another story, I wont be spending my money with them because they dont have good support.

Overall, the camera is better in the s4 than the One. I've played with two sets of demos of each phone and tested the cameras side byside inside the tmobile stores. My findings were, the One had problems focusing on targets that the s4 didn't, also the the One pictures are not as clear and detailed as the s4 in both distant and macro shots. The one most definitely has a slight advantage over the s4 regarding low light shooting, but when it comes to the average user everyday use, you'll be shooting in good to decent lighting and you'll want good sharp detailed photos from them!
I'm just sayin

Having always had Samsung phones and loving them till s3 with all of the bloat, I was really thrown off by touchwiz. It is too bulky and feels laggy, not to mention it makes interface plain ugly. To me, every app on htc one makes android more appealing, while s4 does opposite. I ended up rooting and putting 4.2.2 on my HTC one with elemental x kernel and ordroid Rom... My god... This thing flies, and battery easily outperforms any device I've seen.

I've been slowly making the switch from my Verizon Note 2 to the HTC One on T-Mobile and I've quickly learned a few things.
1. That initial realization that the Note just can't be compared to any other standard sizes phone. There is no way I could say either the One or the Note is better just because they were designed for two completely different ways of use. But the only thing I'm going to miss from Samsung is the multi-window feature. I'll live without the pen.
2. Removable storage. there was something really convenient about being able to swap SD cards depending on my day. I have a music card and a video card that I would switch out if I was going to work or just vegging on the couch while beaming videos to the tv.
I've seen many times people talking about switching phones and almost immediately coming back to the Note, but there's a more specific switch I had to make in my daily routine to make me not want to come running back. I mean, the One is in no way a small phone, but when set next to the Note, it looks like a 4.3 inch phone. That's where I'm having to make the switch. The fact the my phone needs to be a phone is where the One becomes a better fit for me.
TLDR Peace yall. I'm moving to the HTC One.

I just couldn't live with spotty coverage and no signal at my office. I came back to Verizon this month and have the note 2. Everyone tells me that I sound so much clearer and louder than how I sounded on the HTC one. Plus my husband HATED when I was on blue tooth with the HTC one, he said it sounded like I was talking behind a grinder or a blender with rocks in it. Not the case with the note2, very clear. Plus the final straw was not receiving text messages and missing dozens of calls even with a signal. You will be back to Verizon, trust me it's worth every penny!

Two things, both personal opinions:
1. HTC sucks
2. Tmob sucks more than HTC.
The HTC one actually performs very well, just not sure if every HTC one is plagued with poor sound quality with calls. Since I got the note 2 I can't see how I survived with anything smaller. Great screen, love the multi-task feature and the s pen. And yes, t-mobile does suck.

Just came from the Nexus 5 (and I loved it too... just have wanted something that felt solid, for years).
I love this phone... have had it for ~3 hours.
Good day

Says the guy using a Note 3! Ha!
I agree. I'm very impressed with this phone overall. Even the photo quality is much better than I expected and is seriously being downplayed in all the reviews. I wish we had r/w access to the file system, but I can accomplish most of what I need to with an unlocked bootloader and root, so I'm content.
Yeah its a kickass phone. Much more premium than my n5. Also much better designed than the s5 or note 3.
Agreed. I'm very happy with it.

Agreed. Coming from the m7 I knew what I was getting into. They improved on the great device from last year.

Just spent my first full day with the device and I am blown away. The hardware is excellent. Feels great in my hand without a case (case coming soon though lol) battery life is excellent. At 4% battery right now writing this post and I've had 3 hrs 20 minutes of screen time in addition to using play music for 1 hour at the gym, YouTube videos, Web browsing, texting and the works and the battery is clutch. Screen is miles better than the AMOLED on the s4 I just switched from. Shame on me for switching away from HTC for my last phone. Very pleased.
Oh and Sense 6 has made huge leaps from sense 4 the last time I owned HTC. Software is well done, buttery smooth, and has great features that I have always wanted added to sense.

M8
I ordered mine yesterday AT&T is telling me that I should be getting it on the 3rd. I am also coming from Nexus 5. I have had a lot of HTC phones like the Aria, Inspire, the Vivid, and the ONE X. I left Vivid and went to the S2 skyrocket cause there was something about the Vivid that I cant remember that I didn't like, then when the One X came out I had it for a little bit and I didn't like the direction they were going so I went to the S3. I have had a lot of phones in the last 5 years so I hope HTC don't let me down with this ONE. I'm gonna keep ahold of my Nexus 5 tho..
I just got mine a few hours ago and love it so far!
To root, I just need to flash twrp then flash superuser right?

JUst got the M8. COming from the S4 and then the note 3. Loving everything about this phone. Might be the first phone I do not put AOSP in. HTC Sense is very minimal, and the tweaks they have made I find to be very helpful. I am loving the HTC camera as well as the knock features.
I left my beloved 5s for the M8 and couldnt be happier! The larger screen is the way to go
I've had Samsung for the past 3 phones. Love them but now want something new to play with. Seeing how much people love the m8 I'm going to go back to HTC. It looks really awesome. Just hope they have it in Stock at the stores.

My favorite feature is the ease of adding a SD card up to (and including) 128 gigs.
