[Q] Samsung Galaxy S4 Verizon custom rom installation help - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hello,
I have the SCH-i545 and I would like to root and install cyanogenmod. But I have the Verizon update to 4.3 which locked the bootloader. How would I install cyanogenmod on my Galaxy S4? I love my S4 and plan on getting the Note 4 when it comes out because it will be awesome but I really don't like touchwiz. *Any help is appreciated. *Thanks

Not possible to install Cyanogenmod on your build. You really should read this before you do anything to your phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2606501

somehow new owners of S4 are not too well versed with what is possible and what is not for their S4...looks like you are a lucky one to ask first before bricking your phone.
Take a few days to review the thread and those links that riker posted and take a look at as many youtube videos as possible that cover rooting, odin, recovery, safestrap and the like. Not to see if you jump right into it you will have issues but why would you want to make more work for yourself?

[Q] ME7 & Safestrap noob

Hi everyone,
Just recently made the switch from an iPhone to a Galaxy S4, and happy to be here. I have my S4 on Verizon and unfortunately when I bought it it was already updated to ME7. I rooted it yesterday and, being a noob to Android, tried installing TWRP and CWM on it (obviously failed both times.) I have been reading a little on Safestrap and am sort of confused...
Is Safestrap a recovery for people like myself that have ME7 VZW S4's that want to install custom ROMs, or is it still in testing stages...?
Again, I am new to this whole thing. Any help will be appreciated! Also, let me know what I CAN do in the meantime with my now rooted S4!

It hijacks the boot process and loads a specialized version of twrp. It is for people on me7 that would like custom roms. I dont believe its got the stable tag on it but you are able to flash and run custom roms.
Hit thanks if I helped you out. Doing a little bit of reading goes a long way. Sent via tapatalk.
Welcome to the forums! I also just switched from iPhone to android. Safari is basically TWRP except it's specialized for me7 devices. You can install roms using that once you root.

Note 3 MI9 (AT&T) Safestrap / Darthstalker
Hello everyone,
Recently I bailed from the iPhone revolution for a Note 3 - Absolutely love it!
Anyway with that said, could someone point me in the right direction and help me find some answers to my noob questions? I did a fair amount of reading on this before deciding to post. I have a lot to learn, I want to install the Darthstalker ROM on my Note 3 with firmware MI9 (AT&T) using Safestrap 3.71.
My phone is already rooted and has Safestap installed with BusyBox.
From everything I have read, Darthstalker is only compatible with MI7 on the Note 3. I have backed up the stock ROM and verified that it boots and works properly.
My first question is, is there a risk of bricking or destroying my phone if I use the Darkstalker ROM on one of Safestrap slots?
And second question, couldn't I just boot into recovery and delete it if there was an issue?
Thanks for reading my post everyone.

You have a Note 3 - reading here, the forum for the Verizon Galaxy S4, may mislead you.
I suggest you read the Note 3 forums and ask your questions there.

[Q] I would like to i545 MK2 and use CM11 4.4

Hello,
this is my first post, so go easy on me...LOL.
I am trying to root my VZW i545 that has VRUEMK2 4.3 on it now. I have rooted with mj7tool but then can't put a custom recovery on it. I have read on here that that is not possible right now until Hashcode does something with SS? My goal is to be able to run CM11 Kitkat 4.4 or the like on my phone. I am completely new to rooting and such, but managed to get my wifes i605 rooted and flashed within 30mins. So, if anyone/everyone can point me in the right direction, that would be greatly apreciated. Again, I am running VRUEMK2 4.3 on SCH-i545 and want to root/recovery/flash/use kitkat 4.4 from CM11 or Gummy or whoever. Any and all advice/links/programs would be awesome. Thank you.
Caleb
Not possible as of yet because the bootloader is locked so there is no way to get passed that plus safe strap which is the only known work around only works for 4.2 roms and lower. Sorry brother this is the plight of s4 owners.

hmmm....may have to take this out for target practice and go back to the note 2! That thing was super easy to crack.

Are there any links/threads that may point me in the right direction? I can fly planes, forecast tornadoes (wx-pilot.com), and build websites, so it shouldn't be to hard to figure out, and who knows....maybe I can contribute something?
MJ7 to MK2

Is it possible to go from a rooted 4.3 MJ7 i545 to a rooted i545 with 4.4 and MK2? This will be the most likely configuration when something finally comes out that will give us S4 i545 users the best chance of getting kit kat?

Forums are filled with threads discussing bootloader lockdown....Samsung has locked it down pretty tight since mdk firmware and many devs have been looking at what can be done with no luck so far.
Safestrap as given us an opening to a degree. Take some time and do some reading and research..
safestrap enabled, Hyperdrive driven

[Q] CM12 on the GS4?

Will the process link below work on a rooted/safestraped VZW Galaxy S4 (currently running Hyperdrive)? It describes putting CM12 (Lollipop) on the GS4. I'm thinking not but want to check with the wise people on the forum.

Until we get Kexec to run on the GS4, you will not be able to. Unless you have an unlocked bootloader and/or haven't upgraded to 4.2+ yet then you can do it right now.

Is the Samsung Galaxy S4 getting Marshmallow (Android 6.0)?

So does anyone know if the Samsung Galaxy S4 is getting Android 6.0, or am I going to have to root it and flash cyanogenmod 13?
Doubt it.

You can not flash Cyanogenmod unless you have a Loki'd bootloader.

I am not asking how. I am asking if I have to. Because I really don't want to root it considering my past experiences with rooting
Verizon (and Samsung, too) would prefer that you help boost their profits by purchasing a new phone.
The S4 would probably run Marshmallow perfectly fine...if Big V put its mind to it. However, by the time they pumped-in all their bloatware and crapware onto the phone, it would run so poorly that you would throw your hands up in exasperation and run out and buy a new phone!

The s4 will not be getting 6.0
Will anyone make a rom that's flashable for people who don't have mdk? Because looking at some of the screenshots it looks aesthetically way better than lollipop.
Unfortunately you're stuck on lollipop. Even if someone was to try to port a MM TW rom over to the s4 without the firmware or modules to support it it would be pointless.
