First I want to apologise for my bad english. Now, the problem is that the LED indicator on my galaxy is always ON. There is a dim red constant light. The phone isn't charging or having low battery. Even when the phone is switched off the light is still there. It shuts down only when the battery is unplugged. All other notification lights are working well even when plugged in charging the red light is brighter. I'm using Stock 4.3 Jelly Bean and I'll attach a picture if you didn't understand what I was explaining. Thanks !
That's the proximity sensor not LED... It must be in active mode constantly due to some app you have installed.. So just look fit any app that might have permissions for your sensor....

No it's not the proximity sensor. I made the picture with a mirror because I didn't have another phone or a camera in hand. The problem is with the led light which is on the left side of the earpiece.

Hello,
If I look in the sensors section of "Android System Info", it doesn't list a light sensor (I believe that the light sensor is used to dim the screen when it's dark). The thing is, I've seen the screen dim by itself before. If I put my hand on top of the phone (where the proximity sensor is located... I think...), the screen dims. If I remove my hand, the screen gets brighter.
Does the X10 have a light sensor or not? Is it possible that the light sensor is "hardwired" to the screen without "passing" through the OS to dim the screen?
The light sensor on my X10 is to the left of the earpiece. To the right are the proximity sensor and further right is the notification led.

Since you can disable it in the settings, i don't think it's hardwired.

Good point, I don't understand why android system info cannot see it though. Same goes for the service menu, it seems it's the only sensor in there that cannot be tested.

+1 .........................
Hi,
So i see this light in front , of the phone , on the top in this video at 5.09 min
http://youtu.be/_1gfr8vu4PM?t=5m
and think i seen this in a video on Pocketnow for a short time too ?
So i know there is no Notification Light normally in the front , but
what´s we seen here ?
It's the proximity-sensor. It emits infra-red light that reflects from your cheek when having it up against your ear. This turns off the screen.
The SGS2 has no notification light. Only camera's can pick up the infra-red light, that's what you saw. In some occasions I have seen it with my bare eyes. Very weird though.
Edit: I remember when I saw it. There is a lockscreen app that allows you to unlock the phone using 'The Force'. When you turn on the screen, the proximity sensor lights up at full-power, making you able to see it I guess. Then when moving your hand over your phone in Jedi fashion, it unlocks the screen.
Ok Thanks for your answer

I use this on my DNA to fix the proximity sensor. After you open it, move both sliders to 100, then check the 'set on boot' box. Works great!

Hello,
Has anyone noticed a promixity (maybe ambient light) sensor issue? Often (more in the dark) I can see a weak red light blinking right where there is the proximity sensor(it stays there if automatic brightness is on). I tried disabling and closing one app per time but it seems more like a software bug...
Anyone else?
Sony Xperia X F5121
Hello ! Yes! (sorry for my language I'm French).
Tonight, after charging my phone at 100%, I have seen a red little light in the '' capter '' a the right (for automatic luminosity I think). It was a big bug who during ~ 30 minutes. And I have lost 20% of battery, I think, cause to this bug.. Do you already have the bug today?

@Mr High Tech @kistigun @kalel29
Are you kidding me guys?:laugh:
It's not a red light.... It's barely visible because it's an Infrared Sensor Infrared light is usually visible only in very dark conditions.
Hint that will make your day - when it's dark and you barely see it, try pointing a camera at it! It flashes white now, doesn't it.

more than wanting to know what it is, i think they want to understand why; why does the proximity sensor stay on?
i had this question too, before updating to the latest firmware (.292). after that, it seems the "problem" doesn't occur anymore, but i'm not that sure. i'll have to double check.
however, do some of you use "Smart backlight control" feature?

Smart backlight control makes use of the accelerometer of the phone. Keeps the screen on by detecting movement. Neat feature.
Smart call handling on the other hand uses the proximity sensor. Also the style cover preinstalled software. And of course Call handling uses the proximity sensor.
I'm using a modified version of Gravity Screen for pocket mode. Proximity sensor flashes all the time in order to turn the screen on and off when it's in or out of the pocket. Also I use the proximity sensor so that the screen won't turn on when it's in the pocket - like when a call comes in and I don't want to accidentally answer.
One thing you should know about the proximity sensor is that it uses a crazy low amount of power (0.18mA). Now the software that uses the sensor might have many wakelocks but we also need features so it's a small price to pay haha. Also if you're planing on using gravity screen (which is a cool app), you can always add a on/off widget.
There's really nothing to worry about - none of those features/apps I mentioned register on power consumption.
Hello from Indonesia. I'm user of Xperia X single SIM which use the newest version of Poison ROM based Nougat 7.1.1. I have a little problem like this thread https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xper...sor-when-3g-4g-data-transmission/td-p/1146470 but the difference is the red light in my phone always ON both when data transmission/WiFI ON and OFF. The red light OFF when I locked this phone, and when I unlock this phone using fingerprint or press power button, suddenly the red light ON. I have the adaptive brightness screen turned off before. Anyone can fix this problem? Thank you so much for your help. Sorry for my bad English.
Turn off the auto brightness option
Turning off adaptive brightness is not working and it looks more like a feature than bug. (Proximity sensor gets active on lock screen or after data/wifi use to detect if flip cover is covering the screen or not?)
