[Q] At&t Back Housing - HTC One X+

Hi all.I have the at&t htc one x + and the back camera lens gets scratched very easily. i bought the oem casing on Etradesupply costed me around $25. Again i can see some scratches. I the question is can i put on the international ONE X + housing since its camera lens covers can be changed , unlike the at&t versions. I know at&t is Lte and might have some issues, but would someone care to explain if its possible?
Thank you.

T-mobile Touch Pro 2 - HTC Conversion

You knew it was coming. I'm looking to buy a Touch Pro 2 on T-mobile usa contract. However, I'm not a huge fan of what T-mobile has done to the phone. Can anyone here confirm whether the housing differences are cosmetic or not?
I'm fairly certain that the innards are the same across the board, but the T-mobile version doesn't have the same rounded edges that the htc version does. The corners are more pronounced for t-mobile. I'd hate to spend 50-80 bucks on a housing and have it not fit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a T-mobile G1 now, and I'm looking to get back to WM. Android just isn't as 'open source' as I had originally imagined.
I think it's possible. All the buttons are in the right place and it seems silly to change the innards of the phone.
The only problem is that with the HTC version, you'll have an empty hole for the forward facing camera.
I'm not sure if the glass cover is the same size, it appears bigger on the TMO version than the HTC version, just my opinion.
I like my Tmo TP2, but I wish it wasn't brown. It's actually a pretty attractive package, I thought brown would be super fuglie, but I would much rather have the stock HTC black and silver... or something else, all black perhaps.
Now that I took a closer look at the original HTC version, it's come to my attention that there isn't a soft reset button on the side of the phone. Only the hole for the secondary microphone used for the speaker phone.
It could be hidden under the battery case because the HTC battery case covers the sides of the phone whereas the T-Mobile verson only covers the back. It sort of makes sense because the T-Mobile version gives easy access to the SD slot so I don't see why they wouldn't do the same for a soft reset button.
This is all merely speculation. If somebody could confirm that there IS a soft reset button on the HTC version hidden beneath the battery cover, I'd consider taking the hit and buying a replacement HTC case for a swap.
Hi, just to confirm there is a soft reset button hidden under the battery cover (unbranded HTC). It's about 1cm below the mic hole and slightly to the left if that helps.

It helps greatly. This goes to show that the internals on the T-Mobile version are exactly the same as the unbranded HTC version. Doing a case swap should, theoretically, fit just fine.
Now to find a sub $50 replacement case lol.
nevermind. didn't read right
Sdcard slot is on the side for T-Mo, I read that Unlocked or OEM TP2 have it behind the battery.
SD card slot on OEM TP2 is behind the battery cover but it appears to be in the same spot as the TMO version. The chassis of the OEM vs TMO version looks slightly different, hopefully not too different.
At any rate, you would have to buy the full housing for the OEM AND the digitizer screen to convert a TMO TP2, in my opinion because the two screens are different sizes.
Anyone tried this yet
I'm wondering the same thing too, I have found many housing, even the original silver one but it seems like it needs a new screen (since the HTC one has a bigger screen plate than the Tmobile it appears)
+ the back where the speaker is for the tmobile is part of the inner phone built, which might interfere with the full silver plating of the HTC original. So from pure speculation of the build, I believe it will not work...
But I have msged several members on this issue and awaiting their reply to see if they have tried it and succeeded

No they're not. Both phones have 3.7" screens. The only difference is the housing and the keyboard. The TMOUS version has the ALT key first, then the CTRL key whereas the unbranded HTC version has the CTRL key first, then the ALT key.
All the other buttons are in the exact same position. Like I said before, I'd love to be the guinea pig, but not for $80.
The T-Mobile version has tapered edges ( corners ) compared to the OEM version. Not sure if this would pose a problem or not. Might just be cosmetic.

It is not the same
Htc can call it the Rhodium or whatever, When the maual was leaked codename TUNGSTEN.
There are not the same, you can not change it to look like the other Touch Pro 2.
This device will be outdated in less than 6 months.
Devices getting ready for Winows 7.
Not that serious.
might be outdated in six months, but I doubt there will be a 2100/1700 device available with Windows 7 anytime soon.
Also, the manual might be codenamed TUNGSTEN, but when I had put it in bootloader before loading HSPL, it said "RHOD210" in bootloader with no reference to TUNGSTEN.
I just might try this. I know a guy who is pretty good with phone mods, but I will have to replace the faceplate as well. As in kable's link showing the generic TP2 and T-mobile version side-by-side the faceplates are different sizes. So it's going to be about a $120 mod plus labor.
G1 now getting WM update check it out
I see this thread is a bit dated, but has anyone actaully attempted this conversion yet? I see the housings for sale on CNN.cn and ebay, but doesn't look like it would be an exact fit with the T-mobile version considering the more rounded edges on the front rim of HTC housings.
Just wondering if anyone has actually gone through with it, and could fill me in on all that is necessary.

if you ever change yours out, i would definately, jump on your old case. i love the bronze colour. im not digging the AT&T scheme. if you swap out the keyboard hit me up, that's what i really am wanting.
I want to switch it myself.I do not like how it looks and also ProClip does not have a car mount holder for the T-mob TP2.
The only reason I got it is the 3g.
Did somebody succeed in replacing the covers?

HTC casing

Hi ppl,
I've got a question about htc TP2 casing.
I had a "little" car accident during which my htc had not much luck.
It got some scratches on the back and on the front casing, what's more there are some scratches on the screen which is neither estethic nor comfortable for working with touchsceen.
Do you know maybe is it possible to change the whole casing? If yes, do you know maybe where can I buy those in Europe or ship it from any other place? What are the more or less costs of such casing?
best wishesh,

At&T Tilt2 housing

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what type of housing must I purchased to change completely my tilt2's housing? There are couple of housing types on ebay and I'm really lost in all these. Anyone has experience changing a Tilt2 housing to a Tilt2/Sprint/Tmob/Verizon/European Touch pro2 - please give some advice?
Thank you very much.
bump
would like to know as well have t-mobile version and would like to change the housing to maybe a sprint or generic htc.
Not sure what you mean by housing. All I can find on eBay is cases and plastic covers. These are designed to go over the phone, not replace anything. As far as these go, the Tilt 2 has a button the TP2 does not have, so you would need one that is specific to a Tilt 2. FYI, I bought one of the clear covers and they are junk. Not only do they make the phone much bigger (too big to fit in my leather case), but they make the phone much more combersome to operate. The top half is flimsy and gets in the way of accessing any screen elements near the edge like scroll bars and the TM button.
Try here http://cnn.cn/shop/touch-pro2-rhodium-c-277_881.html
the sprint/verizon housing won't fit on the gsm variants (at&t, tmobile, etc) because they are different.
dont know about interchangeability between the gsm variants other than if you put a european front housing on a US one, you'll have a whole where the front facing camera goes.
Has anyone actually replaced their housing with one of these?
I've been looking at one of these <link was supposed to go in here but for some reason it's not letting me> but not sure how hard it'll be to pull the TP2 apart...
It's at eoem.cc under the TP2 (Black & Red Housing Set)
Has anyone actually replaced their housing with one of these or the previously mentioned one?
Any ideas?
Cheers
Troy
check out this thread. in short no it will not work without a donor phone.

HTC has offered at least three versions for worldwide market.
One as GSM vesion - you have checked one min-USB on mobile bottom
One as T-mobile version - you have found overall outlook difference from Sprint, AT&T and Verizon. Don't think T-Mobile housing applying into Sprint, At&T and Verizon.
One as CDMA version - for Sprint difference from GSM, you can find USB section to be difference.
In sum, all of housing are clearly defined service providers. However, somer parts between AT&T Sprint and Verizon can apply for each others, except T-Mobile.
A Verizon case fits the Tilt 2 with exception of PTT button cutout missing. Going with thin hard plastic rubberized coated case ($5 eBay from ittrimming's Verizon case) and cutting slot for button easy task.

Help!

I got the TP2 T-Mobile version.
Let's just say that I love that phone and until windows 8 won't come out i won't ever replace it for nothing !!!
I need to change my Top frame with the digitizer and LCD screen.
My phone looks like that (for who forgot how it looks): http://www.letstalk.com/img/prod/cell-phones/t-mobile/htc/htc-touch-pro-2-tmobile_xl_5.gif
The same shape, the same color (the old good horse).
I can't Find anyware a digitizer made of GLASS + none top frame for that kind of phone.
Can i take a glass digitizer + frame + lcd screen of tilt or sprint and to fix it in ?
will it fit by the size ???
P.S
i took before a test with flex cable of sprint (with the front cam) and put it in and it's working just needed to make a room a bit (mooding style =] ).
Please mates, help me...I don't want to use the iPhones people gave me :'(

No, both of those say they are made for the T-Mobile version. They are the LCD and Digitizer(touchscreen) combo. Sounds like you want or need a new housing too?
This page has all three available:
http://www.repairsuniverse.com/htc-touch-pro2-screens-repair-parts.html
If you use google you can probably find several more.
You are never going to find a glass digitizer(touchscreen) for this device because the rest of the hardware is only compatible with a resistive touchscreen digitizer that is flexible(plastic.) Glass digitizers(touchscreens) like the one on the HD2 are capacitive. Different technology.

Hmm...second gen??
If you are talking about the HTC 7 Pro/Arrive which is basically the same form factor as the TP2 but runs Windows Phone 7 then that is a completely different device. Sorry dude, I seriously doubt that's gonna work.
Here's a link to a top housing:

no mate, not HTC 7PRO.
the HTC TP2 is one of the phones that got too much versions.
If it's sprint / At&t / Verizon etc...
and it T-Mobile (for example) it got 2 versions - The one before the 3GS (plastic digitizer - Gen one), and the one that after the 3GS came out (Glass Digitizer - Gen 2).
Don't you fix phones to know that ? :S
Seems easier to completely replace with a used phone rather than try to repair. I just bought a used TP2 for my wife (same as mine) for $60 on ebay.

I love to repair stuff.
and that's need to be only 25-30 dollars to fix it instead of buying used one.

Well "mate", no I don't fix a lot of phones other than my own but I do know quite a bit about these devices. Sorry, but the Touch Pro 2 was never sold or distributed with a glass digitizer so you won't find a replacement digitizer made out of glass to install. Even if you did find one to fit the rest of the hardware would not support it or function properly and maybe the device wouldn't work at all. The LCD, however, IS made out of glass. The LCD/Digitizer assembly consists of a glass LCD screen with a flexible plastic Digitizer glued to the LCD panel with an adhesive. That's what you'll find to repair what you have and that's what I tried to help you find with the links I gave you. I wish now I had never tried to help you because you seem to be quite a smarta$$ and aparently you already know everything and you just want to argue so I'm done trying to help you.
By the way, what is this 3GS stuff you are talking about? If you are referring to the iPhone then it has nothing to do with this device. You must be really confused or you're just ignorant.
What a waste of time this was.
look on the original question please.
i am looking to fit a htc tp2 like the orginal (no t-mobile one) to the t-mobile version.
the question was if it will fit by the size ? - if i will replace the frame, screen and digitizer.
that's what i don't know, if it will sit properly on the case.
all the other stuff on the device i know. and i have lots of devices but that one i LOVE !!!
Only the t-mobile digitizer fits on the t-mobile version of the phone (if you don't replace bezel and frame. It is different from all the other variants of the Tp2, but they all use the same screen.. It's still a resistive glass digitizer in all the versions despite their form differences. There is no capacitive (if that's what you mean by "glass") version of the phone.
If you wanted to replace the entire top sliding/tilting part of the tp2, it would probably work, but the placement of the flex cables and motherboard may be different. If you look on the HTC website for the t-mobile tp2 and all the other tp2's, the dimensions are identical in all versions. There is no guarantee that they will fit, but you can tell us if it fits or not

[Q] Replacing digitizer with US variant

I plan on buying a new digitizer to replace the one on my phone since I manged to scratch it just before my screen protector arrived (there was a backlog of undelivered parcels at my post office, my screen protector should have been there BEFORE my phone -.-)
I'm pretty comfortable with the process of replacing the digitizer, but I've got a quick question (maybe not so quick to be honest.)
We should have all seen (and most likely drooled over) the new colours being released, I was wondering if a digitizer from the US Sprint or Verizon variants of the s3 would fit my uk/international s3? I'd love to get my hands on the silver digitizer and back plate, but I don't want to fork out £200 to find out it doesn't fit!
Is there anyone who could shed some light on this? would carrier specific radios be located on the back of the digitizer or something?
Cheers!
If you buy a new digitiser ..... Don't throw the old one ...I will buy it from you..
