Hello everyone,
Just got my S3 ( i9300 ) and surely enough flashed it to latest cm stable from their website which is 10.2.
Everything works, but I have this strange issue with incoming calls. When i answer the call, I cant hear the other person through the front speaker. I need to enable the back speaker and disable it to get sound on the front one. Sometimes the sound would be distorted. This does not happen on outgoing calls, they work perfectly fine.
I later flashed kitkat nightly and it had the same issue.
Problem goes away if i recover to stock. Unfortunately, i can't stand the damn thing.
Baseband v: I9300XXUGMK6, which is the newest for my region and also seems to be most common.
I tried googling, but couldnt find this specific glitch.
Any suggestions would be appriciated.
Thanks
Same problem, same story

Edit: i've also flashed the new baseband which comes with the rom: I9300XXUGNA8

I had the 2.4.5 installed and had to switch because of the issue, so i switched to archidroid 1.x version and problem was gone, now on archiport(ultimarom beta1) the problem is there again. Thats real sad because the rom is such awesome
So i think sammy had done something in their 4.3 version that fixed that

That's really odd, since I've been using Archi ever since I first flashed it ( at the time I believe it was 2.3.x ), and I'm a happpy user since then.
try dialing outgoing call to whatever number a couple of times and then get some incoming calls?
And yes, Archidroid is awesome, has everything you could possibly want ( the only exception being MHL )

After i had a go with Omni, I can't think of any reason why should I switch back to CM. Arhci mentioned CM's support and developer base as a reason for the switch, will see...
I use my phone at work quite heavily and it's just impossible for me to switch back and forth speakers.
Found something interesting in kryten2k35 thread... Will report

Hey,
the mic on my phone randomly stops working in calls made with the stock cm9 phone app. The other party doesn't hear anything at all, dialing tunes are transmitted, though. The Mic does work in every other app I have tested so far, just not for normal Phonecalls...
I thought it might be because of the modem so I flashed some others which temporily fixed the issue but it always arose again some time later.
I tried clearing cache and deleting the apk's data, no help
(I made sure I didn't mute in call volume, just in case u wonder)
Running cm9 rc2, stock cm9 kernel, modem i9300xxlef
I appreciate any help

I did, the issue was caused by the radio. I flashed the XXUGMK6 radio(I believe from somewhere in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...s3-modem-radio-collection-t1740061)(otherwise try sammobile) and after a few reboots it worked. For some reason it takes more than one reboot for radio changes to take effect. I hope this helps.
thx, but it did not work out for my phone.
I really think, it is a hardware issue.
Hi,
I've been searching for a solution for this problem for several days now, and couldn't find anything useful.
Hopefully you guys can help me.
Here's what happens - Most of the time, I can't hear anything during a call (doesn't matter if it's outgoing/ incoming). Sometimes everything is just fine.
Also, sometimes the network drops in the middle of a call or right after the call ends.
Another thing - if I tap on numbers in the dial pad, the other side of the call hear the sound, but in slight delay and a bit distortion.
On the first couple of days using CM, everything was fine, then then phone couldn't make calls, and couldn't hear incoming calls.
My IMEI and SN are correct.
Some of the background story is missing because my father had the phone with him for a year or so, and the problem might have started after an attempt for OTA update.
I've tried:
1) mute/unmute, turn on speaker, noise reduction, etc...
2) flashing a couple of Samsung-stock ROMs (both 4.1.2), and one older version of CM (9.1, 4.0.4).
It's a I9300, and right now it's running 4.1.2 JZO54K, XXEMG4.

I use voice chat on Skype a lot, but I also love the speed from 4.4.1 + crpalmer's kernel + bionic libs, however, there's one thing that's keeping me away from that speed, and that's voice chatting being broken on 4.4..Does anyone know a fix for this or know what kind of problem it is? Is it a 4.4 ROM problem or a kernel problem? Whether stock kernel or crpalmers, whenever I initiate a Skype call, it literally kills my ears, it makes this extremely loud screeching and static-y noise that never goes away unless I restart my phone...Anyone know what's up with this?
As far as I know, it's a hardware issue, and not a software issue. I was having the same issue with Newt's 4.2.2 GPE ROM. I got tired of the Skype bug and installed the Unofficial CM 11 (Before official was announced), and the issue was still there. I did an RUU to 1.15. Still had the issue. Installed Newt's GPE again, the problem isn't there anymore. So I'm assuming it's a hardware issue. If possible, take a look at the logcat when trying to voice chat on Skype. See if you see any errors regarding the microphone. I think it's just a fluke. Some people have the issue, others don't.
Its a kennel Issue I have the same Prob too

As far as I know, Skype audio has been working right in CM 11 since December 10th. Please tell me that you are running a more recent ROM than that.
For giggles, I just verified that I have no audio problems using the Skype test service either using the phone as a handset or using speaker-phone. I didn't bother trying headset or bluetooth as those were more likely to work in the first place.
If you still think that there is a software problem, please install the latest nightly of CM 11, do not install anything except Skype, do not restore anything, do not change anything (especially ART). Verify a problem using the test service and then provide a logcat in the CM 11 thread. Also, repeat the same steps with a stock ROM and verify that it works there.

Which specific 4.4.2 rom are you using?

I tried this ROM. Its really nice and I want to have it on my device but my problem still remains there. I m only able to use till android 4.1.2 versions. Anything beyond that causes this Bluetooth call waiting issue. I m really missing upgrades . it's strange not to get only call waiting notification over Bluetooth. All the rest of the sounds are OK.

I am having the same problem. Tried many ROMs (Cyanogenmod, Jellybam, Omnirom, Revolt,...) but anything above 4.1.2 leads to this strange issue. At first i thought it was the Bluetooth device thats why I tried several of those as well (Plantronics, LG, Samsung, Bose,...) and its the same every time.
I really can't get behind this and never found anypne with a simillar issue. I have pretty much resigned myself to always having 4.1.2 until i've seen this thread. Now i have hope, please don't crush it.
Is there anybody out there who has any idea how to solve this?
Anything? I hate to be stuck on JB.
My microphone and speaker are completely unresponsive when in a call. The microphone is working on every other app on the phone. I'm not sure how to test the call speaker without being in a call but every single other audio function on the phone appears to be working normally which suggests to me that this is a software issue. However, I recently had the micro USB port replaced so I assumed that it's a possibility that there is a hardware issue, I don't know enough to say one way or the other.
Prior to having my phone repaired I was running CM 13 and everything was fine, I wiped it before it went in for repair with the intention of flashing the latest LOS nightly build on return. After this I discovered the call audio issue. I then tried the previous nightly build, same problem. I then wiped and flashed CM 13 again and the issue persisted. I then left it for a few hours and came back to it and the call audio was working fine again, so I wiped it and flashed the latest LOS nightly build again, and the issue has returned.
I am completely out of ideas on this one, can anyone shed any possible light on this?
Edit: Clarify to add this is the kate model, I'm not sure how many or if there are any variants at all of this phone but mine is the SD650/3GB/32GB model.
You have a radio problem, because of the changes made in Android 6 and 7(please don't "bomb" me if I am wrong). I have the same problem. Does viber, Skype, whatsapp work ok? This was my temporary solution:when i install this rom(probably because of the radio) everything works fine

I just tested a WhatsApp call and have the same issue. Thanks.
I thought something was strange with that after reading about the issue a bit more, so I tried a Skype call, and the audio was working. I'm going to try the ROM you linked.
I can now say that the call audio is working fine with the Nexus Experience ROM, thanks for the help.
Can you (or anyone else for that matter) tell me if I would be able to install the latest LOS nightly along with that radio app provided there and call audio would work, or are they not compatible?
Can you please send me the link of Los you wrote about? I think that it would be OK,I will try
