You need a computer initially. Use a friend's or family members.

Unroot fassy

Is there a way to un root my phone other then by flashing backward in ODIN and then waiting through the OTA. I am on EDO4 stock kernel rooted. I just want to unroot. (Please dont ask why I would do that)

You can use adb.

I was about to ask the same question. What has to be done in adb to unroot? I'm taking mine and the wife's phones in to complain about the call and signal issues, and just wanted to be safe.

You will have to mount rfs and rm busybox and su apk......etc. ill be at the house in a about an hour. I can send a link. But just search xda or Google I know its out there.

Can that be done in the stock recovery, or will I have to flash cwm to run adb?

Was able to unroot with Z4 root. But could not go back to root with that app. Had to flash su..... zip package in cwm recovery as usual to get root back. At least I have reliable and quick unroot. You may have trouble finding Z4 root as it is not on the market any longer. I had a backup copy. Am sure it can be found somewhere.

Kernel and Roms questio

I want to know if I can flash a kernel but stay stock no custom ROMS? and when I flash a kernel or a Rom (when I decide to try Roms) will that lose all my info again like when I unlocked DNA? thinking about using flash image gui thanks in advance

Yes, you can flash a kernel but stay stock.
And when you change roms, yes, you will have to wipe data, but you can use an app like titanium backup to backup and restore your apps. And your personal files, like pictures, music, downloads, etc, won't be affected by the wipe.

Cool thanks and I can flash roms with flash image gui??

Which kernel has rooting properties? I have tried to find one but am having no luck? Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the rooting process is held within the ROM installation for our phone, unlike other phones that have su binaries and busybox in the kernel
Titanium will only work if you're rooted.
There are some other backup apps including this one that will backup apps without root but unless your device is rooted you won't be able to save game data or app data

Once you install a kernel you can just download superuser and busybox from the market.
Even if you don't flash a kernel you can still flash superuser and busybox in recovery.

Xpposed installer

My friend is in Me7 and is rooted with no recovery. Can he use xpposed? Has anyone tried it? And is it risky with no backup?

I use it on ME7 rooted. Just in case always good to backup with Titanium Backup or some such.

CWM Image
Hey if you have a Custom recovery installed (like CWM or TWRP), you can get an image of the whole device (including the ROM, data, boot, etc.)
Press Volume Up + Home + Power button while off to enter recovery.
I recommend PhilZ touch recovery.
(You probably didn't need the /system and some partitions, but it isn't bad to know.)

Well,in your internal storage is a folder called TitaniumBackup, copy that folder to s5 intranl memory, install Titanium Backup on s5 and just restore the app+data(it saves the entire app+data),but you have to have the s5 rooted
If I do a nandroid back with android SDK and then restore it on a s5 would that work because if I root my s5 and reinstall viber with data I won't be able to install the updates for the phone

Nandroid includes the system. Restoring a s3 system in a s5 is a bad idea.
Its all good I found a app called helium can backup and restore apps without root thanks for all your suggestions tho
