I am running the latest stock build and my phone will randomly reboot itself.
The bottom buttons flash as if I'm holding down on the power button.
I am unsure if this correlates with my sim card errors either, but tis quite annoying.
I tried to press home button last time this happened, and got a screenshot reading:
"TO RESTART YOUR PHONE, CONTINUE TO PRESS AND HOLD THE POWER BUTTON FOR 2 SECONDS"
So I'm wondering if anyone with a otterbox case is experiencing this too.
I even went as far as to take the top of the case off, and the countdown timer paused at 1 for a few seconds and proceeded to restart anyway

Saw this a couple times. In both cases it turned out to be a hardware problem, bad power switch.
That's what it sound like to me too.

I fell asleep next to my phone one night and when i woke up and tried to wake up my phone the volume menu opened up and acted like if i was pressing the volume bar repeatedly. I turned it off and on again and once it boots into Windows the same thing, if i try to press volume down it will and it will go right back up again. The Volume rocker button is fine and not stuck. I found out though if i hold up and down before windows mobile boots up it will allow me to operate as normal but once i let go It goes back to the volume going all the way up. I have flashed different roms to no avail.
Does anyone have any ideas to what could be causing this?
I just started having the same problem with a Samsung Omnia 7. It fell into some water, let's say it was a bucket, i pulled it apart and thoroughly dried it. Seemed to work perfectly for a few hours, now the volume thing.
Our HD2's hard buttons are not invincible and I learned that the hard way. After lots of use on my phone the send, home, end, and volume down buttons stopped working. I also believe my end button is stuck on because it always boots up on its own, meaning I can't shut it down and leave it off. I have to take the battery out of it.
My advice is if you can find a way to use "soft" buttons to navigate your phone do it and save yourself the hassle of breaking the hard ones for when you need them. Good luck!

I had a few drips of water it my hd2 and a couple days later, I rebooted and after it rebooted, the volume is stuck on UP. I took it apart. I has nothing to do with the button itself as I removed the button and it's still stuck. Still no solution yet.
Hi,
Did anyone find a solution for this? I had to hard reset my HD2 couple of days ago. After the reset, I installed all the apps, one after another. The phone worked fine for a day, until this afternoon when it started acting crazy. First symptom was that when you type some numbers of the "Phone" screen to look up a contact, I was not able to delete the using the back button. Other keys like up, down, left, right too didn't work in the SMS compose screen. I restarted the phone thinking that it would resolve the issue, but worse. The volume control showed up just after the boot and the "volume up" tone was constantly going off as though I was pressing the volume-up button constantly. I tried rebooting and remove the battery, SD etc, uninstalled few programs, but to no avail.

For some reason I can't shut my touchpad down. If I hold the power button down, not much happens until I release the button. Then the screen turns off. Tap it again and it's back.
Any ideas?
thats strange try a hard reset, hold the power button and the home button down for literally a minute or so or until it resets. it will reboot into moboot hopefully. you might have to do that and go back into webos to completely shut down. good luck
Thanks for the reply, I was just trying it when the battery ran out!
But I'll give it a go if the problem returns, thanks.
Ran into the same problem today. The power menu, along with various power/reboot widgets wouldn't work, but after about 20 seconds of holding home+power it worked and booted to moboot.
I had this happen to a coworker, after I had recently upgraded her to alpha3. I tried everything to repair it before deciding to start from scratch. The best thing to do is restart using the power and home buttons (hold them until reboot).
Then think about reinstalling.
Good luck!

I had this same issue today. I downloaded Quick Boot from the app store and it allowed me to restart. Worked great
just happened me too, it MAY have something to do with low battery, i noticed someone above had the problem with low battery. mine happens to be low too
also, i turned off lockscreen earlier, maybe that was related.
I appeared to have hung my device out to dry a few times now. In the 'old' days pulling the battery and then replacing it would be the fix to be able to restart into recovery or fastboot etc etc. On the DNA holding down the power key until the 3 lower navigation keys blink has worked a few times although I am never quite sure if it's going to work (or exactly what I did). Most recently my phone was frozen in one of those "android has stopped working" messages and I could do nothing, I did the holding down power bit and got a message similar to: "continue to hold down power key to reboot phone for x seconds" x being 1 or 2 seconds on my device. It did not work (and was held for way longer than the 1 second)...after several trys it did manage to get it to work restarted and I was able to get into recovery and all was good. My question- is there a foolproof way to turn off the device or a proper method for doing so? That is when the phone is frozen or when the 'usual' methods fail?
You need to hold down the power button for between 10-15 seconds for a successful reboot.
Sometimes it needs to be plug into the charger or USB in order to reboot. So you plug it in then hold down the power button until the lights flash and it reboots.

Hey guys wondering if anyone experienced the phone being basically bricked without actually unlocking, rooting or anything.
It has happened before one, just laying on the table and the phone turning off but it came back on after a while.
Today it occurred again but has not turned back on for two days. When charging the only light is the LED flashing constantly every second. If I hold the power button and volume up then the flashing of the LED changes pace to One long flash (1 sec) to two quicker flashing ones (.5 seconds). If I unplug it and plug the phone back, The LED flashing is back to the original constant pace.
When unplugged sometimes holding the power and volume up button initiates the LG logo and then turns off and then shows the logo once more and then turns off for good.
If I plug this into the computer, its like someone ejecting a usb and plugging it in like a maniac. I heard the connecting and disconnecting sounds from windows nonstop like as if its about to blow up.
I've tried holding the power button for a minute the same goes with different combinations with the volume buttons.
The only thing I haven't tried is opening the phone, kind of afraid I will mess it up. Any solutions?

Never heard of this but I can throw a few suggestions out. Try unplugging, then holding both Volume buttons and the power button (All three) for about 10 seconds. Try different USB ports.
Try this if all else fails: Source: http://cellphoneforums.net/lg/t348484-perform-master-hard-reset-lg-optimus-g.html#axzz2YPtvkfDk
To Perform a Master Reset via Hardware
1. Turn off your device.
2. With the device turned off, press and hold the Volume Down key as well as the Home key at the same time.
3. While both the Volume Down key and the Home key are held down, press the Power button.
4. When the LG logo appears, release all the keys.
5. Scroll to and highlight wipe data/factory reset by pressing the Volume Down key. Then press the Power button.
6. Scroll to and highlight Yes – delete all user data by pressing the Volume Down key. Then press the Power button.
7. As soon as the wipe has been completed, press the Volume Down key to scroll to and select wipe cache partition. Press the Power button when ready.
8. As soon as the wipe has been completed, press the Power button to select reboot system now.
9. The master reset should now be successfully completed and your LG Optimus G should restart.

Anyways, doesnt matter guys thanks for trying, decided to just go in att and buy a samsung s4
Stock
It stays on a black screen unless i plug the charger in. I can then operate it for a while. But then all the sudden a message permanently stays on the screen saying "to restart your phone, press and hold the power button and volume up button for 10 seconds". also after this message appears the home button reacts by taking a screen shot (weird).
I have tried rebooting it and updating PRL check for software updates. Don't know what i should do.
I can't even boot into stock recovery because it won't power down it will just reboot. So i can't turn the phone completely off.
Anything i can try?
Try pushing your power button rapidly many times. It is probably stuck you may feel it... This has happened to me a couple of times. Maybe try some compressed air around it.
Ahhhh... Max Venom injection! Much better now...
