[Q] New SIM forces to clear data - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Motorola XT626 (IronRock) its a dual sim (Iden/gsm-3g) with android 2.3.6
At first time, both SIMs, nextel and the other carrier, if putted from the beginning there is no problem. But when trying to change the SIM, to use an other phone number or upgrading the SIM model.
It forces to erase private data.
Message says: "A new SIM card is being used. All private data must be cleared before you can continue"
If no option its selected it erases it, hate to do a backup to just change the SIM or imposible to change the SIM on the fly.
Its Rooted, so looking forward to edit any file and line in the db files to fix this problem.

[Q] i747m unregistered sim and not registered on network

I have flashed the Fido stock rom and got rooted and recovery. And then the phone gets signal and wifi, but shows unregistered sim and not registered on network. I've tred to flash the modem in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898 , still doesn't work. What's the problem? I really can't figure out.

check if ur imei no is still der...it should be 15digits and shouldnt be 0000 or blank... that maybe causing the problem

imei is still there which are 15 digits and sn is also still there
I have the same problem, everything works except I cannot call and get "not registered on the network", anybody can help? Thanks!

Anyone get LTE working AT&T/tmobile

Just got my Tmobile variant unlocked and using on AT&T. Only getting 4G. I've seen users having the same issue. Has anyone got LTE working? I've tried numerous APN's from AT&T as well as other suggestions and still nothing. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have a T-Mobile phone as well, and I had a more complicated problem getting mine to work. First thing's first - make sure you have your phone properly activated at an AT&T retail store, which is to say you can't have hotswapped the SIM; it needs to be tied to your IMEI. If it still doesn't work, make sure you're using the nxtgenphone APN. If you still have no luck, maybe you have the same problem as me. On AT&T's end, for some bizarre reason, my IMEI got registered as one that could not support LTE, so my line didn't get provisioned for it. I kept calling back, but no one could figure out how to change my provisioning. Finally I got a rep who tried something out of the box. He generated a "dummy" IMEI number for me, one that would be seen on the system as one that supports LTE, and registered that to my line. Lo and behold, that did the trick. I called Technical Support for this (you can ask to be transfered to that department if you call AT&T), so you might have to go through that - the good news is, it was rather quick, and I didn't have to get a new SIM card for it.

[HELP] "Phone ICCID Compare with SIN ICCID: ERROR"

I'm facing a very disturbing issue with my Moto Z that is only a week old. When I got it, I've never seen a 4G icon on the status bar. That didn't annoy me. But yesterday I updated my Moto Z to Nougat 7.1. and since this, I don't have any data or GSM connection, at least on the SIM 1 slot. The second SIM slot works from time to time in a normal way I think.
I already changed my SIM card, and it work fine on an other device.
I tried to change some settings in the *#*#4636#*#* menu and nothing happened.
When I go into the factory mode, it says: "Phone ICCID Compare with SIN ICCID: ERROR"
I saw other Motorola devices have this issue but I didn't see any solution.
Do you know what I should do?

Problem solved. It was something about my carrier itself. I tried a SIM card from another carrier and I didn't get any trouble. And at the moment it works fine. I was planning on changing my carrier and I think it will be earlier than I though.
activate bp tools on recovery, and turn on (until you turn off again, it works)
If different sim slot behavior is different, it could be a hardware problem, try cleaning the SIM itself or seek replacement SIM. Also if you played with the *#*#4636#*#* baseband settings, you will need to reflash the full firmware to return it to stock(I'm not 100% sure about the Moto z but many other android phones have this irreversible settings on baseband, if you don't want to flash firmware you will have to use QPST to change baseband manually)

Hello everyone, For a long time I was just reading topics here but now it's time to start asking.
First of all, Sorry for my terrible english. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.
On the Ebay auction, I bought Motorola Moto E 2nd Gen to use in Europe on GSM Careers.
suddenly it turned out that it's Branded by textnow and it requires activation(seller lied on the item details). Somehow My GSM SIM is working but textnow is blocking everything and if I disable it then android system isn't working.
Is there any way to get rid of textnow ? root or something like that ?
any help will be much appreciated.
USC carrier activation can be bypassed by simply removing the SIM card during initial setup.
after initial setup is done the next step is to unlock and this guide will help you with it

I don't know why but after several restarts, I just disabled textnow app again and now everything works without problems but I think it's temporary so if problem occurs again I will try your fix. Thank you for your response.

I need help with activating greatcall jetterbug smart

Hi
I bought this phone used for my toddler to play with it was activated and working just fine. My fault I reset it to the factory settings and now it won’t activate again!
I got to this screen without sim card but when I called the customer service they wanted to charge me for activation! I can’t afford it because I only want it for my kids to play with.
