My experience with SOLA ROMs - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Dear readers and members of XDA-Developers
After installing a new ROM I've decided to post my experience here and hope it will be useful for u.
I've a Sola device with Gingerbread 2.3 preinstalled.... all Stock ROMS (ICS , JB , GB) are piece of *$&%^ ... too laggy and not smooth at all...
I've a Galaxy Tab P1000 too and I was having the feeling that my Tab is 100 times better than my sola....
decided to root my device and installed an experience V2.1 from the XDA-Forum too ... a little bit laggy but still not satisfied, especially that the Graphics were worse than my HTC-Touch HD.... I was not able to play any 3D Mid-Heavy game on my Sola ,,,, Battery was perfect and all connections too... so... for the Experience V2.1 ROM:
Advantages:
1- Battery
2- All functions are working (NFC, BT, ......)
3- nice looked
Disadvantages:
1- sola restarts if it got a call while charging most of the time.
2- Graphics performance is the worst ever.
3- Touching while charging will be completely impossible (crazy) but I think there was a fix for it.
4- not smooth enough and sometimes laggy.
5- boot takes about 3 Minutes.
and now after installing the CM-10:
Advantages:
1- Battery
2- most of the functions are working (Wi-Fi, BT, ......)
3- nice looked
4- very very smooth.
5- Graphics performance is the best.
6- no crashes.
7- boots in 20 seconds or less.
Disadvantages:
1- NFC / Radio FM are not working.
This is the best ROM I've ever used... try it ... u'll like it... :good:

Thansk @Error_Rebel for making this thread. I think it's not bad to have thread like this
I also wanna share my experience with CM10 (by ShoaibAhmed)
Some words:
This ROM is just awesome! I never was such statisfied with a ROM like now. You can just trust on this ROM and everything works as it should (except NFC - which I can't even test/use because my NFC Chip is dead ^^ - and FM Radio).
Advantages:
-Best workflow I ever had
-No Call UI lags
-Great performance (benchmark, heavy games etc)
Disadvantages:
-Not the best battery life in my opinion
-There are no more for me
Recommandations:
-CPU governor: abyssplug
-I/O scheduler: row
-CPU Frequencies: 200MHz - 1000MHz
Last words:
Probably the best ROM I ever used on my sola. I can just recommend this ROM to everyone out there!

Hey guys,
Could you say just a few words about present versions of KitKat based ROMs? I'm looking for fast(*) and stable ROM, which can properly manage RAM on my device. But unfortunately I don't see yet enough polished one for my device. Even if I was trying to use tweaks such as Fly-On Mod it's still not looking too good. And maybe your proposition would suits me, but sincerely I really wanted to stay on KitKat...
Thanks!
(*) I mean faster than stock ICS which is really bad in my opinion.
----
@Error_Rebel - you're writting only about two ROMs, you have installed on your Sola (besides the stock ones). Don't you think it's strange to read that this is "best ROM you've ever used"? It would be better to not read about Experience V2.1, but just about CM10 greatness. Cheers!

After yours recommendation I wanted to test CM10 on my own... Unfortunately it's the first ROM where I have problems with WiFi connection.
OK, no problems anymore - after second installation it works like a charm. Strange, because I did everything the same like first time... I hope I will stay with CM10 a little longer than with KitKat based ones. THX!

@Error_Rebel,
Do you maybe know how to properly install Fly-On Mod on the CM10? I don't really understand the step with patching services.jar (patching wasn't necessary on KitKat based ROMs)...
How should I do this, because i feel like a real moron stucking od this step? Of course if you ever tried that modification.

The best non-CM11 rom I've tried is SlimFXP's CM9. Stable, reliable, everything works (FM excluded as in any CM). Jelly bean roms can only hope to be as good as it is.
On any non-CM11 you need either Greenify or Appquarantine to keep trash apps frozen manually (appquarantine has widgets for easy freze-unfreeze of apps) or it won't deep-sleep properly (like say google services, Facebook, whatever keeps running and can't simply stay dead).
I tried various CM11 from the same dev (all ports, all the same kernel from munjeni I think)
Carbonkk, Hellkat and SlimKat
Carbon is buggy for me (cpu still maxed after a full day of letting it settle... all times I tried reflashing! nopenopenope!)
Hellkat is good but I'm not a fan of its UI and still needs some tweaking to behave.
SlimKat is boss (and also the one with latest update afaik). 800 mhz/200 mhz, Wheatley and Noop. Deep sleeps like a pro. Interface is a bit small but I like it (coming from SlimFXP CM9).
Is a bit slow to start apps after boot (like say Performance Control), but afterwards it's very smooth and responsive whatever I'm doing.
I also REALLY recommend to use Performance Control app to set android minfree task killer properly. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2401988
Even on CM9 android's own minfree task killer standard settings (bundled with kernel) are utter crap and stuff is terminated at random.
On SlimKat CM11 I can leave anything unfrozen and when i press the power button the thing goes to deep sleep within seconds and stays there.
Also android's own task killer is very good in CM11 Slimkat. Google trash is always loaded but always ready to be dumped if my apps need the space. Performance Control app is still needed for its settings and stuff, but Greenify or Appquarantine are no more.

Interesting. Did you tried also the one mentioned before by Rodger Rulez? Now I use eXperience v2 by 6 month, but I want to switch to CM again (I used FXP's CM9 before) and I'd like to see CM11 working on my phone flawlessly. The problem (or the value, depending on pov) is that we've lots of ROMs like Rodjer's, Munjeni's, XperiaMT27'S, ecc. and it's not easy to find the best for me that i'm an abroad student and I've not much time to try as i did before.

My custom rom compiled from the source cyanogenmod 9 ICS 4.0.4 for u8650 GSM
Unofficial CM9 LuckyIcsGsm 4.0.4 ---> google....
OMG!!! Thank you soo much! its amazing!
but I have two problems
1. The call volume is really quiet on the loudest setting, and loudspeaker doesnt work well.
2. Mobile data dosent work, pages just load forever and never actually open.
Other than that, its an amazing rom
Hi
I have posted my custom rom here on xda ----> the link Here
Only hardware bug is Photocamera and Video.....
Beta 5 with bluetooth fixed and other.....
Since i'm new here i can't post on the LuckICSgsm thread, but i'd like to point out these bugs:
1. Can't send SMS to groups
2. Many times incoming calls don't show the caller's name
3. Can't dial frequent numbers (from the frequent numbers tab)
Fix these and the camera and the ROM will be the best out there for this phone, truly outstanding, way better than stock, way faster and stable than any other custom ones out there

[ROM] [PORT] [WIP] Unofficial Streak_CM9

Another ICS rom for us to play around
Base of Kibuuka AOSP ICS 4.0.4_r2.1 and port from 20120511-CM-9.0.0.RC0-supersonic-UNOFFICIAL by jmztaylor.
Thanks to :
CM Team
Kibuuka (without him there is no ICS for ds5)
Jmztaylor (for bring CM9 nightly to Evo4G)
nop (powerfull kernel)
themanii (GAPPS and many things)
hPA
Mazda Team Dirt
Froilson
all forum members for sharing and caring
Not work :
Camera
Data (for some user including me)
Wifi Tethering
Theme manager (working fine on my evo but will cause bootloop on ds5)
All the bugs from the base rom
This rom have ugly gradient colour in background because I use libmedia from the port rom, cannot use from base rom.
I will update this rom when I can (and still trying hard) port a newer version. There are a lot changes in CM9 newer version that make the rom cannot boot on our device.
Flash as usually dan do not forget to nandroid backup first !!!
Gapps can found in TheManii thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1764286
Happy flashing
Update 20120726 : Fix the ugly colour on background and add Samsung Touchwiz Launcher
update to cm9 rc2 see below post / second post
Update cm-9-nightly-20120816_jmz
Beside of some great peoples I have thanked in the 1st page, in this update all credits should go to WhizKins and Rizal Lovins for all their hard work.
Special and big thanks to
-WhizKins ( Dell Venue ICS 4.0.4 CM9 rom)
-Rizal Lovins (Sony Xperia V and Z Walkman features)
I took / modded some libs and apk from WhizKins rom to fixed wifi, bluetooth, theme manager, and data for some users (I hope so).
For data, I only tested with operator in my country (Indosat) and it work. Last time no data on that operator.
I hope data work too for all operators.
*** Changelog ***
-added Sony Xperia Walkman, Clear Audio+, Visualizer
-added Noozxoide EIZO-rewire
-added Noozy
-added CM file manager
-added JB statusbar
-added Google Now (but error in soound/voice search)
-fixed theme manager/theme chooser
-fixed wifi
-fixed bluetooth
-fixed data (at least for me), hope it fixed too for others
-theme can be apply in all dpi (128, 160, 240), but better use system theme when using tablet mode
-phone functions work in all dpi
-remove some apk from original CM9
-some build.prop tweaks
*** Not work ***
-camera
-voice search
-native wifi tether (use barnacle wifi tether)
-native headset (use toggle headset widget)
*** Please read ***
-nandroid back up first, wipe data, cache and dalvik cache, flash the rom as usually
-rom need long time to boot up
-let the rom for a while to settle up, specially when syncing
-go to settings/sound/music effect to choose music effect
- if feel lag, don't use auto sync, I found that the rom lag when gmail syncing.

This version is the easiest to port and compatible with our early kernel. I choose a rom to port base of the same cpu and proc. with ds5, but most cm9 rom for those device not mention any version and no nightly builds (maybe that need a lot work to do because unofficial), so I choose this nightly builds by jmztaylor for supersonic which closely to cm9 official build. The bad news is I still facing problem with newer version, the room can boot but no respons on touch screen (I think we need a patch in our kernel as cm team make changes in their kernel and its impact to media libs, video libs, audio libs, surfaceflinger for better responsive and etc). Pls any advice to solve this problem.
Btw, I hv succeed ported latest and final build evervolv ICS rom for nexus one. I think this latest build closely to cm9 RC2 as all evervolv ICS rom build from CM source. But for us it looks like minor changes cause the big improvement is finally native camcorder can record and play.
Sometimes I think better if we can build from the source but at this moment only kibuuka can do that.
I wish he can get ds5 replacement soon and the development can continue.

oh COME ON there's NO magic at all in building cm9 from source. set your build environment (this guide is quite straight-forward) and tell me when you need to know "what do i do next". Do initial build, test it, get bug list and we'll start to figure solutions for it.
Lemme explain my POV bit more: binary patches are only good when you got no access to source (and even if you don't - there's ALWAYS more than one way to deal with a problem - hunderteins' ussd patch was a magic at the moment - but there was an option noone thought about/tried to - using rild-related stuff from froyo (it works (as it's pretty much framework-independent), yet it's free of ussd bug)).
When source's available - it's ALWAYS a good thing - you control a way it built, you're free to patch it at will adding features/resolving issues/whatever you can imagine to do - instead of desperately seeking for a blob that manages not to fc on your device. One more thing to mention - when you manage to fix thing instead of replacing it - you create/produce, instead of consume/waste

First - what's most powerful pc you have access to? Plenty of RAM and cpu cores gives you a chance to see finished build within universe's lifetime Kiddin, mostly. My build station specs are: [email protected]/8Gb/2x1TB. On this specs sucessfull build done with -j4 takes ~2h15m to complete (integrated build - kernel+system). Netbook (Atom cpu?) with 1Gb seem to be inappropriate device to compile ics on.
Second - you don't have to decompile/recompile separate apks and/or jars. You're downloading source, compiling it and getting ROM as a result.

If I hv to replace this old one and get the new powerfull device that will need a lot of money....not worth it as I'm not intend to be a great dev, I better buy HTC One X or SGS3 and leave all this ICS headache.......

I don't know if it's just me, but this seems a little less laggy than the other ICS ROMs out there. If it wasn't for the non-working data, I'd probably use this even though the battery life hasn't improved.
I seem to have problems with Bluetooth, Wifi, and (critically) booting @160dpi.
Absolutely love the rest though
keep up the good work!

I Just want to ask what scripts & tweaks i should use because games are a bit laggy . :crying:
U still planning on using those rom so how come u already knew games lag on them?
If you want no lags at all, stay with stock rom gingerbread 2.3.4
If you want to use a later version of android just try it and you'll see it's nearly stable with just a few lags/bugs. And I think you should first try the rom before saying it lags

Both LXP 4.2.2 or 4.3 are good for performance. If you really want lagless gaming try to run minimum background apps. Because many background apps eat a lot of ram.
Legacy Xperia wifi
Might be thread Hijacking -- but for people running this -- how pronounced are the wifi issues? I really don't want to cripple the wifi on my phone.

erm - no -- not kidding:
The project page points to:
legacyxperia.github.io
which further refers to:
the page github.com/LegacyXperia/local_manifests/wiki/CM10.2-kernel-3.4-status
The buggy - non-working list is:
Buggy:
Wifi (interruptions)
Wifi hotspot (interruptions)
Not working:
720p video recording is disabled (low frame rate & save ~22MB of RAM)
FM radio (audio is not working)
HDMI
For details, see the issues
I've used a lot of Rom's -- tried a few -- but haven't tried one which says the wifi is buggy. I was looking to see if someone had used it as their daily driver and had a glitch now and then -- or whether wifi works occasionally but mostly doesn't.
While I appreciate that a lot of people ask a lot of questions without trying anything themselves -- but that doesn't mean that every status or experience question is unwarranted, eh?

Not really worried about the full /Not working/ bits -- I can live w/o 720p video and fm radio and hdmi out -- but I use the Wifi hotspot reasonably frequently -- and use wifi at home all the time to keep things synced.

Wifi seems to vary with the router or similar. For me it got a lot better, almost ok.
Hotspot does not work well for me. Just stops working after a while.
I like lxp 10.1 a lot, but i don't use wifi/hotspot much. Try it yourself...

Yeah, I'm running Zelly Cream 3.01 at the moment -- it doesn't have google now -- but voice search, navigation and dialing all seem to work pretty well. So I think I'll give this a few months and see how it goes. What I really want is an Xperia Ray w/ 2core cpu and ~ 4x the storage -- selling for about $200. I'd buy four. If gogole can sell a Nexus 4 for $200 --- sony should be able to make money on an updated Ray for $200.

addon section on #2 post. just flash in recovery.
Nice to hear that you are still supporting this phone. Thumbs up to you smokerman.
Sadly I already moved out because my Play was stolen.
Currently I have the Oneplus One. Hope to see you there in the future.
Is there a list of what works and doesn't work in this rom. Is it stable enough to be daily driver?
Thanks to Smokerman for producing it and mikeioannina for all his work.
Nice man.... What's as bugs?
its stable enough for daily rom..but better if you guys see the video..only thing not working for me is camera..but on video i say somethings to get a better experience and some advices when you run the rom..battery drains fast also, kernel is not optimized as can be..but try it if you want..to get back to another rom or kernel is just fastboot the desired kernel and follow the installation steps that you use here for this rom..easy as that...
When can we see the working camera?
Bro, help with development of lollipop cuz its better and quicker than kitkat i believe.. and camera works.. everything does actually.. except data and outgoing calls atm.. do u want the latest build ?

indeed. Lolipop is even more powerfull than kitkat.
which one should i choose for rom and kernel
is this ? " cm-11-20141224-UNOFFICIAL-LegacyXperia-zeus.zip " and "cm-11-20141224-UNOFFICIAL-LegacyXperia-zeus.zip.md5sum"??
thanks
the md5.sum is just to verify that it matches the downloaded rom which is a lot bigger in file size. so just download the zeus.zip
@saqibkhan send me the files by pm please.
MIUI 6 its almost impossible(doesnt mean it cant be done, Lets see)..its heavier than MIUI 5 and 512 ram is low..with my MI 3 running MIUI 6 kitkat 4.4.4 and 2GB ram i have usually 500mb free..even MIUI 5 latest versions we have less than 100 free ram..and believe me , i ve tested a lot..thats why i recommend version 3-7-12 full to have a great experience and play games in xperia play, latest versions (3.9.27 is the last i ve updated) its super heavy and buggy..
I'm getting myself an Xperia Play in the coming days, but heard that ROMs based on the 3.4 kernel (including CM11) doesn't support the slide-out gamepad... Is that true?

Game-pad works but touchpads do not, only d-pad and buttons. Full gamepad compatibility is only possible on Gingerbread. On ICS touchpads work for most games. Since CM10 there have been efforts to have touchpads fully working but it has not been possible due to a lack of official Sony drivers for it.
Let me add something..touchpads and gamepads working on GB,ICS and JB..problem is many games for optimized for xperia play only support 100% GB..anyway we can play many games in JB and its still my favourite roms for xperia play..but for hard gamers than want the full experience is better GB..even so if you see my video review of kitkat on xperia play, i ve played super fast and smooth with gamepads..touchpads doesnt work at all.

Oh, that's okay then. Games I play don't require these touchpads anyway. Gotta see how this goes.

If you're going to use android wear then I'd recommend a new phone that is Bluetooth smart ready (low energy) which is Bluetooth 4.0 and up

MIUI 10 Hydrogen Port for Kenzo-Discussion

With due respect to the developers, can some one start to port miuipro rom based on miui10 from hydrogen to kenzo?
Reason for posting this thread is bloody beggar 'kisasanya'
He is now ask for payment for get link of miuipro ported rom.
Actually i had paid him twice but he didn't gave me link and puted me in block list so i cant talk with him anymore.
So it would be great if someone start porting miui10 miuipro roms from hydrogen to kenzo.
Thanks in advance and awaiting for positive response...

AGNi kernel for MIUI Nougat works and the camera works for video after installing the kernel, Magisk root and the blockscreen works for fingerprint or pin, dont block it self anymore.
:highfive:
its a good start
for gapps 100% working, dont try opengapps
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max-2/how-to/guide-installing-miui-10-google-t3812907
Its imposible to get that kisasanya roms for free, funny.
Anyway, like I said before, lineageOS 14 or +, is much better until you want to use split screen for games, to play 2 games at the same time.
Edit: and miui 10 its so bad atm, better try "MIUI 9 Hydrogen Port for Kenzo 8.7.1" or "miui.am 8.4.27 beta" who can run w/o any problem (freeze, reebot) while:
playing 2 pokemon go account at the same time, use firefox and whatsapp, all w/o problem; And repetitouch (it records my "touchs" and I dont even need to tap like crazy while "raiding"), etc, etc.
And the most important thing for me: new notifications shade. whatsapp can be replied with one touch (no dual finger needed), and u can keep some notifications ALWAYS expanded.
plus you need to flash "MIUI.AM Volte Patch Link"
miui.am and volte patch all from turkdevs.
Look at this: https://youtu.be/4KEL3zkfMHc
This ROM has an excellent managament of RAM, works a lot better than any PORT (alexandrin and kisasanya ROMS) I have the 2GB Kenzo and works great with all my apps and games (30 or more) For those who enjoy the MIUI layer I tell you, the best ROM since Android 6.0 MIUI 9 ROMS. I come from using the liquid-remix ROM (excellent by the way) but I'm a fan of the MIUI customization layer , and this ROM is by far (with some errors which I hope some great XDA developer fixes at some point) the best It has been seen and used in 1 year or more.
Can you post Payment screenshot here or whatsapp me on +917696013709
Does push notifications lights working on you guys?
Sim network don't work
Volte is note working on this rom also fingerprint scanner option is not showing. Please help!!

Which ROM you are talking about bro ?
My phone is Kate 3gbram, and I did a loot of stuff to keep 2 pokemon go accounts open at the same time (to play at the same), use whatsapp and firefox. If I didnt change some options, delete like 10 miui apps always in memory w/o reason, MIUI.AM didnt keep that 4 apps opened at the same time.
If u dont use pokemon go apps like this, then go LineageOS.
