[Q] Blocked in 4.4.2 Not rooted, no recovery - G2 General

Hello guys,
This morning I installed kitkat on my lg g2 D802. I am now running it but I want to go back to 4.2.2. However, I lost the root when upgrading, as well as the custom recovery. Right now I can't seem to root it again, and Im unable to flash a stock rom, as when I am on lg flashtool, it says that the device is not recognized. Does anyone have an idea on how to get back to 4.2.2 so that I can root it again. I really need to because I need to flash the baseband again as I don't get any signal right now.
Thanks a lot !

This is not the correct forum for questions, you should read the sticky posts.
However, this might help:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142
Edit: this might be the better solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2672076
Be careful not to brick your device. You do not have a backup of your partitions, do you?

Oh, sorry for that.. The solution proposed is for linux, and I only use windows. I have a nandroid backup on my phone, but I cannot access it because I don't have the recovery anymore. I saw the second link and tried to follow the tutorial but I block when trying to actually flash the tot file, this is why I sent the screen capture.

For the Linux solution you could run a Live-CD/DVD on your windows computer.
If this does not work, look for downgrading guides here on XDA or google. There are a couple, just search for them. I will report back if I find something.

Looks like a global solution, although not very simple: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
It's the second sticky post here, just bellow "Questions do not go in GENERAL". But since you did not read the first, I presume you did not have a look at the second

I've searched everywhere and I second his question. None of the methods mentioned work. I've tried GingerStreak, Universal Androot and Z4 Root. The result... FAILED! Don't even get me started on SuperOneClick.... Looks fancy and when you think it worked, it returns with failure.
I have rooted 2.2.2 before and i know it works but Stock 2.3.3 with CWMRecoveryDoctorFix cannot be rooted for some reason.
I have even tried this and it gives a confirmation that my device is rooted... I check Z4Root and GingerBreak, both say my phone is rooted. But when I try to do anything that involves root access (like working with Titanium Backup or using SuperUser or RootUninstaller or RootAppRemover or RootExplorer), they all return saying that I DON'T have root access.
Pardon me if I'm offending anyone but if you know that Stock 2.3.3 can be rooted, then instead of being unhelpful and asking us to search (Which i carefully have and perhaps the pervious user did too), the least you can do is post a link that actually works on that version of Android because I cannot find a solution that actually works.
Peace!!

Success FINALLY!!!
Download the latest super user from androidsu.com... For the lazy bones... here's the link Make sure you download the Gingerbread one..
Now the fun starts...
Copy it to ur sdcard...
Boot into CWMDoctorFix Recovery (If it works with other recoveries, then I don't know)
Select "flash using update.zip"
Select the option to select the correct zip file
Select the zip file that you just copied into the SDCARD.
Give it 10 seconds.. (it takes less than that actually)
Then reboot.
It works. Other helpful links are available if you look into my profile.. Lemme know if it doesn't work for anyone else.
You're not offending anyone. You searched for the information. He didn't. Searching before posting is the number one rule on this site, and if more people followed that rule XDA Developers would be better for it.
For the record, one-click rooting methods aren't recommended simply because they do not work 100% of the time. The only method that works all the time is given in the XDA Wiki entry for the Streak and also in a sticky thread in the Development forum. It's information easily found using the search engine on the site.
I don't provide links out of hand simply because I want people to use the search engine to find the information for themselves. It's a lot more gratifying to find the information yourself than it is to simply follow a link. You tend to learn more in the process.
So think of XDA as a library and the search engine as the card catalog.
For anyone curious: chainsdd does in fact provide his own flashable zips for SU.
I didnt realize he did until after several interations of superuser.zip, but the official one isnt designed for any specific device to flash. As there are multiple ways for the update script inside an update zip to flash it's more reliable to use superuser.zip or it's equiv on your device.
superuser.zip of course has been heavily tested on the s5.

I understand what u're saying mate.. but there are problems with that.. I searched because I know I have posted steps to root, change recoveries and install custom ROMS and I just went thru the threads that I posted on to follow the steps. Having said that, the search options isn't the most convinient on xda.. the search results are a mess not to mention downright eye-sore (Admins, please take this as a constructive criticism and don't delete my account ). I wouldn't be surprised if newbies get put-off by the results and just decide to ask a question.
Stock 2.3.3 has been official only for 3 or 4 days for the rest of the world (not counting Korea). Hence it's even more difficult to find a 2.3.3 rooting info on here because XDA is inundated with custom roms and 2.2.2 rooting steps. No steps that that work on 2.2.2 work on 2.3.3. Hence we do need a thread that addresses that concern. This thread could be the one.. luckily my post is in the first page and might help people but if this post was long, not many would have realised the way to root it.
I have asked people to browse and search as well.. but also given them the link because the world is not full of perfect people who do the right thing by searching before asking.
Internet and XDA caters to novices, lazies, brainiacs, geeks, nerds, chefs and all sorts of people in between. Let's do the right thing and help rather than grounding people because they are lazy or novices and not geeks or nerds or chefs.
There's always the stickies in the dev subforum that answers exactly what you're asking pretty much. These do not care what rom is installed, they work universally for the S5.
There's information on the wiki pages.

Yep.. the Wiki hasn't been updated for 2.3.3. The Superuser.zip is still the older version and doesn't work on 2.3.3. It works on 2.2.2 though. Not the most helpful piece of information when you've got stock which is less than a week old.
It's not updated as there's nothing to change, I just tested it on 407 and it works without issue at all. You cant change what doesnt need to be change.
ofcourse it works.. it worked for me too and it says "successful" and Z4root etc say that my phone is rooted. But try doing anything that requires SU access and it will fail. The update fixes it.
Anyway, no point in playing this cat and mouse game. Now there's a thread with the actual 2.3.3 details which should help others. That was the idea from the start!
Well I dont know what happened exactly then, as I installed superuser.zip and my rooted apps work fine with it.

I rand StreakMod Recovery from Multiboot... then ran Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip
It says my Streak is rooted but Busybox and Titanium say it is not. I installed SuperUser from Market and it runs, but I never get a prompt to allow Busy or Titan SU rights?
I got it running, finally... it took a few times to "take".
Method...
used MultiFlasher.v0.1_350 to flash StreakMod Recovery
Booted into recovery and flashed SuperUser.zip (2.28mb size) from here - the one Winggie posted, Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed (626 kb size) did not work for me.
Hope this helps others.

big thanks !
Just want to extend my thanks to everybody on XDA for the development of rooting on the Dell Steak... a newb like myself was able to do most of the hard stuff... and ended up with a fully rooted Dell Steak 5 running the official release of Gingerbread
Ok your link is down but your process worked for me. I googled superuser.zip and found one and then installed it via CM (reboot) method. Once I had superuser on my streak it was just a matter of going onto the market and installing the update. Then to make sure it worked I ran Adaware which is an add blocker app that needs root permission and everything worked fine.
unfortunately...
I have spent 3 days trying to figure out how to root my streak 5 v2.3.3. I hesitate to even ask for suggestions because most times when someone ask a question, they are scolded because they were unaware they didn't ask in the correct place or they should have searched first. Unfortunately, I will say I have searched this whole site, Unlockr, YouTube, and I am still unable to find the exact steps with the exact files I need to accomplish the rooting of my phone.
I previously rooted my Streak 5 and when I upgraded to Gingerbread, I lost rooting somehow. I will not claim to be an expert but I am trying to learn and part of learning is not being afraid to ask questions. However, most of all the instructions i have found don't work or they are partial answers...assuming everyone knows where to go or what to do.
I have been taking notes in hopes I can find a successful process and willing to create a wiki page with these "dumbed down" step by step processes for the next person who can't figure it out either. No such luck. I can't install StreakMod or Clockwork. Z4Root crashes before it completes. SuperOneClick acts like it completes but always hangs on step #7 "Waitsfordevice" and never restarts. I have SuperUser Elite and Titanium Backup Pro installed (but until it's rooted, it doesnt matter). The Flashing Guide doesn't work...StreakMod Recovery doesn't work...Rooting my device didn't work...adding a custom rom didnt work...
I'm at a loss. I'm sure I am missing something. I've looked through most all of the Streak 5 forum on xda and still couldn't find answers. If any of you can lead me to a Streak 5 for Dummies...I would greatly appreciate it.

[Q] [HELP] Getting back to Stock

Hi Guys,
I have an HTC M8 International (Australia), and I was attempting to Root and S-Off my device to allow me to install the GPE Rom. Following a tutorial I found on XDA, I was able to root, and install the InsertCoin Rom, but it wouldn't allow me to run Firewater as my device is too new.
It also seems that because I am running InsertCoin, I cannot run SunShine as it doesn't recognise it as a stock ROM.
I realise I shouldn't have mucked around with it unless I knew exactly what I was doing, but I thought the tutorial would have held me in good stead.
Stupidity aside, can anyone help me get my M8 back to stock. As it stands, I now have no Wi-Fi, and charging is sporadical, needing to have permissions reset through TWRP every time I connect to USB.
I am running a Mac, and have TWRP installed on my device. Happy to provide any more information needed, I would just love someone to be able to help get my phone back into a working state!
Any way you can get a stock backup on your phone would be ideal. I know with the ATT variant I found a posted stock zip I had to extract and place in my TWRP backup folder.it can be as simple as that unless you made a stock backup than restore it and run Sunshine again
Below is a link to most all backups
Just fallow the instructions.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a recovery available for my version (2.23.841.1). If I download a copy of the stock rom from Android Revolution, would I be able to flash it through TWRP, or would it still require S-Off?

My mistake - it wasn't a stock ROM, only based upon one. Through a lot of playing around and flashing, I have managed to get a functioning device back up and running. I flashed with Android Revolution ROM, and that allowed me to install SunShine to gain S-Off. Also had to re-flash the firmware, as it knocked out my Wi-Fi. Following these steps was really helpful:

For now, it's running well. I used to have a Samsung S5, and I don't recall there being as many issues as this, but it's all a learning curve

[Q] G3 update but have root and custom recovery

A friend of mibe wanted me to update my phone so i could have advanced calling. But its an update and do notwont to risk losing root and recovery or worst face brick. I would love to have this update so im hoping is there a work around. Is there a way to root the phone again if it does wipe it out. Is there a way to download it and have my custom recovery install it. Please and thank you
If you're already on 12b, you already have advanced calling. Otherwise, go here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=57360121
It's like the second sticky down in the general section. Read, read, and read again before attempting to update your G3. Although it's pretty easy to fix if you mess something up, it's also pretty easy to softbrick.

The number at the end of the build number is 10B. You need to be on 12B or higher in order to use Advanced Calling. Also would have to enable it on your Verizon account. MIght be under "HD Calling".

If you're wanting to be rooted and update to 12B...
1. Root using Stump apk brute force method. Reboot.
2. Install SuperSU from Play Store, reboot, launch SuperSU, update binary, reboot again.
3. Install TWRP Manager from the Play Store, launch it and grant it root permissions.
4. Use TWRP Manager's option in the upper right corner to download and install the latest TWRP custom recovery for the VS985. It's already bump'd, I've verified.
5. Use the link @Johneedoe provided, download the 12B boot, modem and system.img files. Extract system.img from the system.zip.
6. There's a link in that first post, after all the download links to @autoprime 's Flash2 method. Use that through TWRP with the 12B img files you downloaded.

I'm not positive what you want your end result to be, but if you want root and TWRP on any version of the stock ROM, the easiest method is to use the built in LG Backup to backup your user apps, user data and limited system data to your MicroSD card, move anything else you want to keep from your internal storage, flash the 10B TOT using the .DLL that's extracted from the 35B KDZ, root using the Stump app on XDA, put TWRP on with TWRP Manager from the Play Store, reboot to TWRP, wipe Cache, Dalvik/ART and Data, flash whatever ROM you want and appropriate Bootstack. Bootstacks are in @xdabbeb 's VS985 v2.0 ROM thread in the Development (non-original) section. 12B Bootstack for KitKat, 24B for Lollipop 5.0.x and 35B for Lollipop 5.1.x and Marshmallow 6.0.
If you flashed a stock-based ROM, then you can use the built-in LG Backup to restore your backup from previously. Not much, if any (depending on what version of the stock ROM you come from, and what you flash) system data will be restored.

I have since unbridled by returning to stock, which is 10b again. Just don't want to mess up again, so trying to figure out why that system file(System12B rar) cannot or will not work. If left alone, that files flashes as an error, if I change the name, by taking out the number(12B) it bricks.
Correct spell is killing me, after I bricked trying to flash I dug around xda and managed to replace to 10b exactly like laser wolf has in this post(his picture matches my phone exactly), my problem now is not the zipped files, the other files are the problem, there all suppose to go into a file named flash, however on the download the system file had system12b. rar... According to the direction it should read system12b I'm, and directions say rename to system.img,,thats what I changed the name of the file to and it bricked, if I leave it as downloaded it flashes error on system img, I don't want to trial and error as I'm new to flashing files etc. Was wandering if anyone else downloads those files and gets a file named system12b. rar instead of system12b. img , and if so what am I suppose to do. Again sorry roadway warrior for not posting in the proper place, however this was where people were trying to go from 10b to 12b...ang help is appreciated!!!!
I didn't read all that. Sorry. I guess I don't understand what the purpose of a 12B rar is. If you want to be on 12B, root and put TWRP on 10B, then wipe and flash a 12B-based ROM like JasmineROM I think v2 or v3, or SkyDragon - probably the same, v2 or so.
By your description it sounds like this is some more difficult method.
Ok, thanks mate, been driving me crazy because that particular file means changing the name etc, but I will try your way.... Greatly appreciated my friend... Thanx

LG G3 (sprint) root not working, because I suck or something else?

So I am really new at this and have problems even getting through reading a sentence without having to google terms and read for pages... I am not getting far reading old posts on this specific phone because its from 2013 or there abouts. I keep reading about someone having luck with x rooting tool but with some older andriod version or whatever. I have watched a few videos on youtube as well but don't know which to trust or still even apply.
I am getting sick of the phone being a battery hog, lagging more that another older phone a nexus 5 with lower specs, and all the annoying sprint bloatware that may or may not be causing other issues. I am using hangouts and freedompop for my phone service anyhow. I just want a simple phone webbrowser, camera... I dont need to cloud print, keep track of my heartrate, have two screens open, tv remote, fm radio.... or to have sprint constantly be unclosable in the background. Just some of my motivations for attempting this.
I have tried kingroot (pc on a pos netbook, as the soon to be exwife took the good pc). I have also tried towel root. Kingroot tried for a while and gave up I was #95 with the same problem. Towel root just said something about a rare phone and that it didn't work. I will try whatever again to get a more proper error message but thats the best I remember at the moment :silly:
What current method should I be looking at to root this LG G3 phone? Is it a difficult phone to root or am I just making it difficult? Should all of the rooting methods that did work 2-3 years ago still work or no?
Let me know if I need any more info from this thing.
andriod version 5.0.1
kernal ver 3.4.0
build # LRXZ1Y
software version LS9902VG
model # LGLS990
OK so honestly with or without root the G3 was a major battery hog(that display is very power hungry and when I had my Verizon G3 I always had to carry a portable battery with me just so I could get through my work day... That being said-with root and a decent AOSP ROM and kernel you can kinda make it more tolerable- being that you're on Lollipop(5.0.1) means towelroot won't ever work, kingroot should work but without unlocking the bootloader with either "Loki" or "Bump" you'd just have root and no custom recovery to flash ROMs and the things you need. I know for a fact there is a few different threads in the LG G3 general and in the Sprint G3 threads to get you rooted and get TWRP flashed on there with no problems-- I'll post some links here shortly for you that will hopefully get you rooted and booted

@jere-m check these out https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/help/rooting-ls990zvg-problems-t3528679
Last Post says it all with a link- run the batch file and manually reboot into download mode, let the .bat file run and do it's thing and use Flashify to flash a Bumped TWRP recovery image... Hope this helps you out and if you have any issues or questions PM me or post here and I'll answer ASAP... (oh and please if you get any error messages please post exactly what they said and what was done to make the error come up) And make sure you have a copy of the ToT or KDZ file for the same model/version you are currently using so you can restore to 100% stock and try again.

Z5C stuck with TWRP

Hi,
For some weeks i have the Echo Issue on my Z5C. I read that modify the mixer_path could help, and just install TWRP will be enough do modify it.
So this morning I Unlock my bootloader and I Install TWRP by using this thread :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/development/twrp-twrp-3-2-1-z5-compact-t3748952
I Used the 23.02.2018 version with this command :
"fastboot flash recovery recovery-name.img"
Until that no problems, I can restart with the TWRP interface. But, when i just want to restart by using "REBOOT" from TWRP, the phoe stays stuck on the Sony picture.
I can reboot on TWRP but thats all...and i'm stuck here...
I don't know verry much about developement...
my build is 32.4.A.1.54 and i'm on android 7.1.1
Thanks a lot for helping me.
I did that too last nite
I see you got that pesky sony s1 boot driver disable driver signing in windows 10 just to get the phone recognized. that sucks.
I just got this phone after some deliberation. I read good things here on it. I did what you did. Bricked it. Stuck on sony picture and both LED colors light at same time looking funky. I was able to recover the phone. I joined this forum just to tell you. Hope you fix it.
I used flashtool-0.9.25.0-windows software, installed it. Then pulled the US firmware from sony named E5823_32.4.A.1.54_1299-2920_R1E.ftf Flashed that and bam factory image.
I am still afraid to mess with twrp until I am sure. If you found it let me know. Thanks. I am on a newer firmware and perhaps that was the problem with TWRP?

Z5C bricked after TWRP 220218.img- FIXED
I did this again. installed TWRP and was stuck in SONY screen.
Used recovery_suzuran_220218.img
Then just booted into TWRP
Installed lineage-14.1-20181207-nightly-suzuran-signed.zip
Had to drop it on internal storage. TWRP didn't read the SD card right.
After installing that it boots to lineage OS and then just installed
open_gapps-arm64-7.1-full-20190106.zip
Phone is up and running. Hope someone finds this helpful
