speakerphone automatically turns on during call - HTC One Max

So i had this problem myself and also read few other members posting about this.
The speaker phone automatically turns on when making a call and that is annoying.
it seems like chrome might be the reason for this is CHROME!!!! the latest update to Chrome seems to fix it, hit the update button now! - http://www.androidcentral.com/chrome-update-fixes-audio-bug
But for those who are using an HTC One, you'll need to download this new version right away, as it fixes a pretty annoying audio bug that would cause the phone to launch straight into speakerphone mode when placing a call — damned near deafening, thanks to that Boomsound thing blasting from the front-facing speakers. Not everyone saw this bug — but for those of us who did, this is a most welcome fix.

I have not tested this yet, but hopefully wish that fixes it!

We have a confirmation from HTC, but that seems to specify only the One, so lets see. Did not happen to me today.

Strange thing with Z2

I have had my Xepria Z2 for 2 weeks now. Very happy with it. There is just one strange thing. From time to time it vibrates 1 time. I can't see anything on the screen.
Any ideas on this?

Actually, the call quality thing is clearly software. On Stock ROM, people were always complaining that they couldn't hear me. But on CM 11. 0 complaints. Not 1. I didn't try .314 ROM. But I think changelog suggests it's fixed.
Lol. Update Will hopfully fix it.

New Firmware update available (6.Dec.2016)

https://www.asus.com/zentalk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=120244&extra=page=1&mobile=2
It should take some time to update, still talking to asus though on the bootloader for the 5.7, still awaiting that answer. However yay finally.

Only real difference I've found so far is the always on backlight and the allways on screen, though if you have a case that turns screen on/off it kills that function...
Haven't made any calls so can't comment on that.
The update is around 200mb... It's not Android 7...

It would have been nice if there was also an always off for the backlight. I guess they skipped my request I can't imagine someone would want the backlight keys on all the time. To each their own I guess. They said there were camera improvements, but I haven't tested that out yet.

The Always On back light for the keys for me is quite useful when operating the phone in the dark. It it the same as a computer keyboard with back light. I'm glad they added this feature, otherwise it's as good as not having any back light at all for the keys.
I also see a definite improvement in the audio quality. Earlier while playing tracks with silence, there was a slight hissing sound (using audiophile headphones) and I had reported this to Asus. I checked this now with a few tracks and it seems like this is fixed. I hear absolutely no hissing and the audio is crisp and clear even at high volumes. !

That's interesting. At night is when the backlight annoys me. I'd prefer they don't ligh up. Glad they made someone happy though. I'll still wait and hope for an always off feature.

Definitely put in your requests through email and at the zentalk forum. Could be coincidence, but I almost feel like the 'always on backlit' was done at a specific person's request (seen here) because it was early on and they were so vocal on the forum for this issue. Also the forum's audience isn't that big - so more of a chance to be heard.

Music skipping/popping

Hi, has anyone had any popping, crackling, or skipping when listening to music? I get it about twice to 3 times per hour when listening to spotify or local music. There was one time in particular where i was listening to music, when opening the recents menu and opening a recent app caused a serious crackling distortion.
Should I return my phone?
Side note: have tried safe mode. Crackling still occurs. Have tried repeating the same file. Crackilng does not occur at the same time.
Second side note: on version 119. Phillipines has no updates beyond that.
Mine does it too. This phone has more bugs than a bush tucker trial!
Haha. Yeah, it does. I've also have had apps randomly open sometimes and another music player play for a few seconds when I press play on Spotify, then return to spotify. I'm planing to try and have my handset exchanged tomorrow at the store. Hopefully they will.
I do believe this phone has really great potential, if only it wasn't so buggy.
Had too sometimes.
However, I think problem is Oreo, not the phone!
I want to believe it's oreo, since everything else on my phone works great (minus the hiccups mentioned above). No wifi or reception issues. Not even sure I want to get a replacement and do a lottery again.
so glad to see its not just me. phone is terribly buggy. settings turning on and off. sometimes after being on the phone for like 5 mins, the phone locks itself. sometimes without me even touching the phone eg when im watching youtube with it propped up on my desk. has anyone who exchanged their phone actually received one that doesnt have these issues though?
whats up with the blue light remaining on in settings when you turn a setting off? UI nightmare
Hmm. This makes me think we should run a poll so we can identify the common issues everyone is having to rule out hardware issues.

A lot has to be with Oreo as these issues don't exist in other Huawei phones. Also i wonder if some of these unreleased roms that folks are using have bugs in it compared to the official roms received via OTA.

I'm waiting an update !
I have some bugs with contacts sync, gmail and music popping.
Except that, everything is fine !
Ah well, i guess I'll just lean on the huawei warranty instead.

Force 18:5 aspect ratio for unoptimized games

As the title says: Is there a way to force games into a 18:5 ratio? Most games don't work properly yet and have visual issues or are simply unplayable. I added 2 less extreme example.
PS: I'm talking about something like Samsungs app scaling settings. This phone is missing this option which is one of the biggest problems right now. Apps are obviously not always optimized for 21:9 yet so this is a neccesity. I hope Sony reacts to it as fast as possible.
Got a typo in the title. Can some moderator change this? That's a thing xda-developers needs to improve.
did you enable developer options and see if you can make any changes in there?

Yeah, couldn't find anything there. Can't check it again right now though, had to send my device in. Can check it again once it's back which will probably take 4-5 days. My speaker crackled a lot, probably a hardware issue.
so, it was defective right out of the box?

Yeah. They got it today so i guess i should have a new (hopefully) working one in 2-3 days max. It's really weird to not have a phone :')
actually, its a good feeling to not be annoyed for a few days with endless meaningless texts/spam phone calls..

Yeah, it just sucks that i'm unable to make some important calls/ hear music/ keep contact with a friend of mine. Makes everyday things much harder. Definitly happy once it's back

There's a software update coming 3/15 that could fix that.

I hope so. Currently waiting for them to either send it back (or to send me a new device). It only occurs in third party apps after all. Maybe my device helped them to find the problem?
didnt get anything on 3-15..anyone else?

Speaker Phone

Anyone else having an issue with the speaker phone going dead during calls? I have this happen all the time about 5 minutes into a call. Turning the speaker off and then back on helps but it keeps happening.
There's another thread rife with complaints about this issue, and it seems to be affecting all U.S. (at least) carriers more or less equally.
I suspect it's an LG software issue rather than a hardware one, but I obviously have no way of knowing.
I only vaguely recall that my old phone, the LG V30+, had a similar issue that was ultimately fixed via software.
Out of curiosity, have you tried using a different default phone/dialer app?
I use Google's Phone app, which should be available on the Google Play Store, if it's not already pre-installed on your device.
Edit: Here's the other thread.
