6. Do not post warez.
If a piece of software requires you to pay to use it, then pay for it. We do not accept warez and nor do we permit any member to request, promote or describe ways in which warez, cracks, serial codes or other means of avoiding payment, can be obtained. This is a site of developers, i.e. the sort of people who create such software. When you cheat a software developer, you cheat us as a community.

This is a sad day for pure android lovers. We will be missing the main man behind cyanogenmode. We will be missing samsung,HTC,Acer and may be LG from the main android scenario cause moto will get the first mover advantage for any new android release.Google will treat all other manufactures as second citizens and guss what Microsoft is waiting for this, they are already offering profit sharing between partners.

from the link in the first post:
In one of most important news from Android hacking scene, Steve Kondik aka Cyanogen has announced via his Facebook profile that he now works for Samsung Mobile. This lead developer and founder of CyanogenMod also stated that his side project CM is not affiliated in any way with this employer.
There is no word on how this will impact CyanogenMod, but there shouldn’t be much. CyanogenMod is a result from community of devs, with Steve contributing significantly to it.

May be but I am concerned about the second problem. Users don't want android to be in the hands of one company.we need more companies following android it can give us more choice more freedom and value for money.obviously we need Samsung for sgs2,HTC for their sense, sony for that PlayStation controlls,Acer for their value for money approach and LG for their **** coding.

Honestly, when I look around in the XDA forums and see how many mods you can find for a given phone model, most of them running faster and better then stock rom, I always wonder how come none of these talented programmers are not hired by the phone companies. Most of the time, in the software team they have people who miss the passion that these devs have.
On the other hand, it will be interesting to see how much he will be able to work for Samsung, as any big company has a lot of rules and regulations to follow, that he might not be very fond of.
So what's next?
We can expect Microsoft to pick up RIM and HTC much like it picked up Nokia, lock down computer hardware manufacturers with stringent guidelines and add stores to compete with Apple on service. Apple will aggressively build out its cloud infrastructure and beef up AppleTV to fend off the XBox. Google will continue to beef up its productivity apps and focus on consumer hardware. All three will compete on the next generation of answers-oriented, Siri-like search.
Even the carriers could be in play, with former Apple President Jean-Louis Gassée predicting that Google will acquire TMobile. Sound crazy? Comon Google needs stores to compete with Apple and Microsoft. And owning a carrier just raises the stakes for the other two even further. Its no crazier than Google buying Motorola. Game on.

Cyanogen to make Android 'more awesome'
Free whitepaper – CIOs feel the pressure to optimize the online experience
The creator of one of the most popular Android modification kits has taken a job as a software engineer with Samsung's mobile device unit.
Steve Kondik, the hobbyist hacker behind CyanogenMod software, confirmed the appointment with Samsung Mobile on his Facebook page and to several bloggers.
“I will be working on making Android more awesome,” he told AndroidandMe.
In a dispatch to AndroidGuys, Kondik indicated he had no plans to step away from CyanogenMod:
... it's a job and I'm glad that I can use what I learned from all this to do something cool in the real world I'll still be doing code review and some leadership for CM, but I'll be keeping it legit like always. ... I think we really broke away from the modding community. Most of us are professional engineers or in the field some way or another.

Are games with in app purchases worth the $..?

I like many of you love to play games when there's time to. But as I'm searching the Market (not calling it the Play Store) I find myself passing on games that although look good, I am deterred by the fact it requires in game purchases to fully enjoy the experience.
Now... I am by no means a skimper. I buy all full versions of every app on my phones. I would rather pay $20 (or whatever) up front and enjoy my experience without interruption. Am I selling myself short and missing out by not "playing and paying" or is my idea of paying a full up front fee valid? Set me straight guys/gals.....

Unfortunately thats the way games are now. Start for free, pay to keep going. Or rather free to play, pay to win.
I played Order & Chaos on iPhone and Android when my android phone did support it. Well worth paying for.
It is better for consumer to pay once. The companies can earn more by charging tiny bits at a time.

Thank you kindly for your reply. I guess I'm showing my age. LOL
I'm the "console" generation. Still used to forking out $ for "cartridges." I guess some habits are hard to break.
But your points are valid. Just depends on which side of the fence you're on..

Madman is right that is the way games are now. I only play one game that I actually make in app purchases, other than that I generally stay away from games that require in app purchases to actually make the game enjoyable. If you look hard enough though you can find some games that have the option for in app purchases but the game is still enjoyable without them.

Thanks VB. My biggest worry is that a $1 here a $1 there ads up to more than its worth for a game that may only take 30 minutes to finish. But you're right. I'm going to have to jump in and find out.
If you don't mind me asking what are you currently playing?

The game i spend on is Haypi Kingdom. There is no way to win the game so I dont have to worry about being nickle and dimed then the game is over. Thats the reason that i actually spend on it. I worry about the same thing when im looking for games because like you i dont wanna make in app purchases then the game be over.

Most free games are the ones that nickle and dime you to play....for instance pocket legends requires platinum for ingame purchases which requires real currency to get. .stuiped I know....most games that are more money upfront are the ones that are complete opposite .... some games I like are rpg... pocket legends/ pocket empires....things like that....I'm still searching for a good game for this note.
Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply. I'll give Haypi Kingdom and Pocket Legends a try. Cheers!

IAP is a scourge. I hate it and won't play them. Charge me one price.
In theory I totally agree Creek as I'm on the consumer side of things. But I'm going to give it a go so I can say I at least fully gave it a shot. But I hate being nickled and dimed on any level.... lol

thanks for sharing, i personally think that they're going to get so many installs from the publicity that they're pirating us
They are still going to make a nice chunk of change cause people are going to feel bad and pay for in game purchases lol

Quite a few games have gone this way, like Zenonia and Zenonia 2 were in the $3-$4 range IIRC, but Zenonia 3 was free but in order to survive, unless you do a TON of leveling up on easy stuff, you need to do in-app purchases to buy Origin of Life and such.. I wonder how overall sales go between the two models.
I played the game last night on my Nexus 7, didn't load it on the Note. Played well, although the controls feel weird to me.. And this is one of those games where the first 2-3 stages are easy then I'll get my brainz eaten repeatedly and I'll give up on it.

And here I thought I was the only person weird enough to have a Note and a Nexus 7.
Hahah, unlike you guys i don't need a 7" tablet,
10+" tablet is ok

Nope, sold my other TWO 7" tablets (Dell Streak 7 and Nook Color) to (mostly) pay for the N7.
10" is too big IMO, 7" is perfect for recreational stuff.. Reading news, playing games, Netflix, etc..
I've also discovered that having the Nexus 7 in proximity to my Galaxy Note makes the Note have much better battery life. Weird.
Since it's a free app can someone post the apk, I can't DL it

[Q] Code to break phone

Hello
So I found a massive list of secret codes for the galaxy s3 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2098642
I want to know which of these I can use to most effectively brick my mobile. Do not ask why. If you could look through and let me know, which would be most effective that would be great!
Intentionally brick your device? You do know that's insurance fraud, right?

Im not doing it for fraud or to get a new phone or anything, and I dont have insurance or a contract.
XDA does not condone fraud in any shape, form, fashion or code. If you wanted to legitimately brick your device for reason that would benefit the community, first you would have to be an extremely experienced and well known user, not have a registration date of Today and finally not post the same thing in 3 different boards that I am a MOD in.
April 1 or not, I have something for you and it isn't a Joke.
