My problem started a few months ago, when I'm calling to someone the another person can't hear me unless I put the speaker on. That is obviously because the phone uses the secondary microphone while on speaker mode. At the start it was on 50% of the phone calls, now it never works. I have GT-I9100
This is what I have already tried:
Factory reset and software update - DID NOT WORK
I replaced the primary microphone - DID NOT WORK
Factory reset without updating - IT WORKED WITH ONE TEST CALL
After the reset I updated the phone - DID NOT WORK ANYMORE
I rooted the phone and installed jaboo kernel - DID NOT WORK
I installed CyanogenMod - DID NOT WORK
I installed stock 4.0.4 Android - DID NOT WORK
I updated to first 4.1.2 Android (I9100XWLSJ) - I WAS ABLE TO MAKE ONE PHONE CALL, DID NOT WORK AFTER THAT
Now I'm sitting with the newest 4.1.2 without working microphone.
Any ideas what to do? I'm starting to be desperate. :/

Ok, so this is how it goes. Yesterday I rooted my Legend and flashed Cyanogen 6.1 stable ROM, but now the microphone won't work when I answer calls (it also seems to not work when recording videos, recording sound works fine)
I also had this problem on official Froyo but then I did factory reset and phone worked ok.
I did factory reset on Cyanogen but the problem remains.
Ill try to flash other custom ROM later this day but I wonder if someone has had and solved this problem.
Please help! Thanks!
My Legend have the same problem, it suddently stop working, I'm in cyanogen 7.1.
Just updated my o2 i9100 via Kies to latest firmware PDA:KJ1 /PHONE:KI4 /CSC:KJ1 (O2U)
Everything seemed to go ok and phone rebooted
Now when I switch on Bluetooth a message apears telling me there are open available bluetooth devices and then crashes.
Screen goes blank - quick flash of o2 Startup "water" and startup screen then media scanning complete and keeps looping until I can catch it by turning off bluetooth. Then its stable!!!
Newbe needs help please
BTW all was working fine before update
I have the same issue, also noticed that in 'Running Services' there are 2 copies of BLUETOOTH SHARE running, one showing 28.00KB, the other 0.00B, otherwise all other functions running ok.
Does everyone with the latest O2 firmware have this problem? I'd be grateful if anyone else could say if Bluetooth is broken for them too.
Thanks.
Updated yesterday (KJ1) no problems, switch on bluetooth, notification comes up showing available devices.
Downgraded and then let Kies try again.
This time all working!
Not sure what went wrong the first time as both times got exactly the same messages and success at the end.
How did you downgrade ?

I used factory reset.
remember to backup data first
Factory reset resolved Bluetooth issues, thanks
I've been having this problem despite several full wipes. This is happening on the leaked XXLPB (ICS firmware) as well so it doesn't seem to be a software related.
When I enter commands such as *#232337# (Bluetooth Address) or *#232331# (Bluetooth Test Mode), I can't find Bluetooth details (such as Bluetooth MAC address etc.). I'm wondering if I should send the phone for repair.
Would like to hear if this is a known problem and there is a possible fix other than a full wipe.
I installed cyanogenmod 10.1. Everything is fine, I update it whenever update rolls out. Today my sister was unable to call me. During that time wifi was turned on. I tried to call from my phone to my friends, I was unable to do so (after a while during call my phone beeped and automatically stopped the call). I was able to fix this issue only by turning on and off airplane mode.
How to fix this issue? People are unable to call me. Whats the point of having a phone than?
I own SGS2 I9100 with CM10.1. I installed everything by following their tutorial.

Backup your apps/appdata with TB Pro and then do a clean install of rom.
Alternatively first try flashing modem.
I had this issue with CM10 (4.1.2 JB) too. I installed CM10.1(4.2 JB) by following this tutorial (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2036229). I done everything right.
gastonw - everything is working fine. I think this problem occurs only when I am conneted to wifi. It doesn't appear instantly when I turn on wifi, but It does occur sometimes, after a while. (Sure, I will say hi for you )

Lol, next beer is on me.
Now, you shouldn't have to turn off Wifi to make/recieve calls, that's nasty. Try going stock, enable wifi and make/recieve a couple of test calls. If it flies, go back to CM.
I already tried that. With stock samsung's android - everything works fine. This problem I encounter only with cyanogenmod. :/

No CM for you then. Try another custom rom and from time to time go back to CM to see if the issue persist.
What an awful thing to hear What about custom modems (that modem file, which you can install through odin)? Would some sort of custom modem help to fix this issue?
Well, can't hurt, can it?
why don't you use the same stock modem when you are on CM?
Trial & Error is the best option here.

I didn't know that I can use any modem for any rom. Thanks, I will try that
OK lost sound about a WK ago after a factory reset, have got it rooted now and I am still on stock rom. A total stock ROM would be nice; however, any knowledge of how the sound on android can be fixed would be much appreciated. Also, I get a popping sound while typing even when turned all the way down; although, it is silent when mute.

In an attempt to fix the sound I have ran into an issue. RKbatch tool error download firmware fail at 97% happens every time. Used plenty different drivers and tools, event the ones with the firmware. Tab is broke with no os or recovery, can get it to show on device manager; however, can not get firmware downloaded, for the following problem.
Hi there
Since I updated my MI A3 to Android 11 the microphone sometimes doesn't record voices !
( I reset and flashed my phone so many times but didn't solve )
Upppppp
If you flashed stock with miflash... Probably the problem is hardware. I have flashed many stock and custom a11 firmware. And my microphone work well. A question. When you reflashed stock rom... You have changed the active slot? All updates are installed on slot b. So if want to make a good clean istallation... In my opinion is better set active slot to a via fastboot before flash. Try this. Also you can try a custom stable rom with oss drivers. But is important to make a good installation. Or the software problems may not be solved
Recently after owning a new car that is my first using Bluetooth handsfree option, I discovered this issue.
It seems the mic got somehow "stuck" to the car when I leave it, as the phone's normal mic then is okay. Just when trying to use the phone's handsfree mic in a call oder video calling in signal or hangouts it doesnt work. Even recording videos using the camera app is fine, but any handsfree option for any communication does not work.
Restarting the device or restarting bluetooth does not work. Somehow the phone recovers after sometime. When, why and how I do not know.
It definitely breaks down again once reconnected to the car.
with other bt devices have same problem?
Sadly I don't have any other bt device that is handsfree mic capable, I just own a speaker that is connected every now and then - it was my first idea to recover it by connecting to another bt device (the said speaker), but it does not work. Of course, the speaker is not connected using the same bt variant, the icon in the phone's settings is different.
mmmm... for this issue, the solution are: try delete all bt connection. if dont work try install latest software update. if dont work the definitive solution is wipe data and make a new clean installation. i suggest do this via miflash
