Hi, my galaxy grand was rooted and had the Resurrection Remix custom ROM, but now I want to reset my binary counter, unroot and flash the stock ROM. I started by downloading the .tar.md5 file (stock ROM), then I loaded it in Odin v3.09 as the AP (which is the PDA option but changed its name I think) and flashed, but it says fail at the beginning and now I only see "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again". I already installed Kies and tried this, but after a really long time when the progress bar reached 70%, it said Dll load fail and this was the second time I do it through Kies, but no avail and yes, I'm pretty sure that I have the ADB drivers installed. I flashed CWM touch recovery and it works good, so now I can enter Download mode and CWM mode (or whatever it's called) only. I want to flash back to the Stock ROM which I already have, but can't figure it how to solve this issue.
Thank you.
I really need help with this..
Thank you.

EDIT: Request close. I solved it. Apparently, it was my bad, I downloaded the firmware of GT-I9082 while my phone is GT-I9082L (though I bought it here from Egypt not Latin America).

Hi all,
I've been having a few issues with my S2 (Randomly resetting, freezing, etc) - so I decided to do a factory reset - but it hasn't worked.
When I turn my phone on, it wont go past the galaxy logo. I've tried holding down VOLUME UP, POWER, and HOME - but it doesn't boot it into recovery mode.
I've downloaded odin (the phone is rooted) and was told to download a new ROM and then use the PDA button on odin. But the only file type it expects is MD5, tar and SMD. Whenever I download a ROM, I just get a ZIP?
I'm probably being stupid. Could someone point me in the right direction? I don't care if I lose data, I just want the phone working.

What ROM do you want to flash?
If it's a stock ROM, then extract the zip file and flash the contained tar/md5 file with Odin.
If it is a custom ROM and only provided as CWM-flashable zip file, then use a stock ROM to flash first and flash the custom ROM afterwards, when everything works again.
Here you can get the latest stock ROMs => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487, or pre-rooted stock ROMs from here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608071, or use Check Fus Downloader from here => http://fus.nanzen.se/ to check for the latest officiallly released firmware versions for your phone in your region and download it directly from Samsung servers.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I don't care which ROM I use - As long as I get the phone working again. I did download 7comp ROM but I couldn't find any .tar files?
I also converted the ZIP to a TAR but odin isn't picking it up ?!
OK - I've downloaded and installed the latest stock ROM you posted.
It seems to have installed, but doesn't go past the splash screen which says samsung galaxy Sii
Any ideas?
[EDIT] - Phone fixed. I was able to load it into recovery mode and cleared cache. woo
Well done ...now try to go on recovery mode ...if should be able to go....do full wipe...then clear delvik cache...then advance- fix permission ..
Then reboot system ....you are done...
Don't forget to say thanks..

Attempted to root the phone but it didn't work.
I followed a set of instructions, and was asked to wait for the phone to reboot. It now has the "!" rooted icon but won't go past the rooted screen.
System restore and clearing cache doesn't set it back to factory default. Any ideas?

Sorry for late reply. I followed a video on youtube showing you how to root the phone. It looked succesfull as the "!" did appear, but it wouldn't go past that.
So I rolled it back using the original ROM and have given up on rooting it. It's a shame as I really liked Jelly Bean

to root ur phone, just dwnld the .tar file of Siyah v4.1.5 fro the link below, then put ur phone into Dwnld mode and connect to ODIN in ur PC and flash by putting the siyah kernel file(.tar) in PDA section, ur phone will be rooted
http://www.gokhanmoral.com/gm/2012/09/08/siyahkernel-s2-v4-1/
PS- do see that u dwnld the file meant to flash by ODIN ie Download tar (for Odin)
Just flash a siyah v.4 rooted kernel through odin.
hey guys, I was running my S3 on the paranoid android(2.99) just fine but then I tried to flash 2.54 over my 2.99 install through TWRP. It flashed fine but then it was stuck on the PA bootscreen so then I tried restoring a backup through TWRP but it said no backups found even though I made 3, i later realised they were in a different folder and I couldn't get them.
Anway, desperate to get a working phone, I downloaded the I9300XXELLA firmware and flashed it via ODIN, it failed so I disconnected my phone and now it says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue, select recovery mode through kies". I cannot go into recovery or download mode.
Is there anyway to get my phone to work or have I successfully created a paperweight?
The phone was bought from India. If I need to provide any information, let me know, I'd love having my phone back.
First step is to source a USB recovery Jig to get to download mode .
That fails its a service centre .

either ask in the CM thread or flash a stock rom from sammobile.com then root all over again.
where is the cm thread for this phone...
In the meantime... I have tried to use Odin to reset to factory but it fails, so asking in cw thread would do no good if I cannot access cw... count is @ 13 and cannot add triangle either so I cannot take back... tried Kies but once again I cannot turn phone on... so if anyone can guide me to factory reset thread since I have been searching for 3 hrs I would appreciate it...

i think you've confused what i said with about 3 different things here~~!
odin doe's not do a factory reset, odin flashes firmware. can you get in to recovery or download mode any more? (i guess you can if you know your flash count is at 13) kies won't do anything since you are rooted and (was) running a firmware it would not recognize. kies is a pile of tosh! Delete it!
below is taken from a thread, i've provided the link and the part you need to know, Which stock firmware are you trying to flash through odin? and where did you get it from? use sammobile.com.
[EDIT] the CM thread is the same thread you downloaded the CM rom from.
Instructions For Flashing Firmware:
Extract the firmware
Open the included Odin
Turn off your device
Put your device into Download MODE (Home + Volume Down + Power)
Click PDA and select *.tar.md5
Then finally click START!

I have used Odin in the past with my first Epic to flash back to factory so that is why I tried with this one when I found the tar file, but it fails every time. I cannot get into recovery only download. When I try to get into recovery it says "Fireware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again"... CWM-Recovery-LTE-SGS3-v5.tar.md5 is the file I flashed from Team Epic... I downloaded CWM back in Nov over 5 months ago... no idea where it is now...
That file failed as well
So I'm selling my Note 2 and yesterday I did a reset but the device went to a bootloop, doesn't pass the flashing Samsung Logo.
My Device was using L900SPTBMK4 and I want to do a restore. Kies doesn't recognize it when in Download mode, does it when is on the loopboot but never finished the connection, stuck a connecting.
In odin the device isn't recognized when in download mode either, as Kies, it recognize the device when stuck a the bootloop. I don't to if is safe to try a flashing in this mode.
Using ODIN v3.09
Autoreboot checked
F. reset Time checked
I don't remember what download mode I suppose to choose from BL/AP/CP
I also have this file L900VPUBMK4_L900SPTBMK4_HOME.tar.md5 to try the flashing if recommended.
Thank you for the support
Forgot to tell, I don't have any recovery option installed.
I just can go to the Download Mode
Guys, the device has been recognized by Odin on my work PC.
Just need to know what file is the correct to be flash by Odin and what option do I need to check,
Regards
Downloaded SPH-L900_MK4_Full Restore_UNROOTED (Compressed Archive) and after that I ran it, was uncompressed and the I ran the uncompressed file called SPH-L900_MK4_Full Restore_UNROOTED.exe with the device in download mode and everything worked like a charm.
From the beginning I understood that this was what has to be done but of course 'my awareness' was about the correct file need it.
Thank you

I am successfully Flashing any and every rom I try using cwm.
My Problem occurs after flashing and successfully rebooting into new custom Rom, I am running the new Roms. Tweaking and Tinkering with ROM just fine.
but if I run out of battery or somply reboot or turn off my Sprint Note 2 L900, It DOES not boot back into the rom?? What am I Missing or Not doing ? How Can I get it to stick thru turning off and on ??
Any Help is appreciated, Just cant get it to boot everytime like Stock Rom does out of the box.
Thanks !!
Hi
I can't possibly state how foolish I feel right now, but I accidently flashed my Samsung Galaxy S2 I-9100 with a Custom ROM made for the I-9100G version. As a result my phone is now only able to reach the Download mode; not even recovery mode. However on connecting with Odin the test is repeatedly FAILED. I am now left with a stuck phone which when tried to be powered up is always stuck in an incomplete boot cycle. Do we have any suggestions / ways to get this corrected, or do I have to order a new phone!??
Please help...
Thanks!

Not yet. I may actually be a perfect example of one who should NOT try rooting..complete newbie in this world!!
In case you have any suggestions how to go about doing that please do share the same.
I took a backup of the stock ROM using Nandroid and had TWRM installed.
Of course, these are of no use until I'm at least able to reach the recovery mode!!
Have a look at my guide here on how to use the pit files: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ivatives/mod-increase-partition-size-t3011162
Download the stock pit file
Download the official stock firmware
Flash both in ODIN (tick repartition and make sure you have selected the pit file and the stock rom to flash)
Start the flashing process
