Hi!
I just got my HD2 last week and flashed it with standard energy 21908 july 8th version.
Not sure if this is related to this rom or just a general problem.
My weather won´t auto update unless I go to the weather tab when it will instantly update.
This started when I disabled "my location" and manually set my location.
Have tried different time intervalls, but always the same thing.
The reason why I didn´t want to use "my location" is beacuse it always left the data connection open even though I set it to disconnect after 20sec with bandswitch or Advanced config.
So a soulution to either problem would help...
This is getting annoying
Beautiful Widgets is set to get data from accuweather.com and I've got alternate geocoder option ticked.
Now, this problem only started happening when I flashed to VillainROM and, in fact, was the main reason I ditched VillainROM; gps/call reception was vile even with the KH3 modem.
The problem was that my location kept being reset to Birtley even after I installed FasterFix to assist with GPS fixing.
I've subsequently completely wiped my phone - format of both internal/external usb and a full reset in CWM before installing RevolutionROM. It works beautifully and I'm very pleased with the ROM overall.
However, the same problem has occurred and, despite reporting the correct location all day yesterday, I woke the phone this morning to see that it is again reporting my location as Birtley
Now, if I go to Maps it will also show my location as Birtley. I can fix it if I go to Maps and wait for Maps to update my location.
Then if I wait 5 mins and refresh the Beautiful widgets weather (in the Weather view>>>Home Menu) my location will update correctly.
Is this a google/latitude problem? As it can be the only place where a "cache" is storing that I briefly passed through Birtley the other day :x
I can't believe it's the Widget as it is a fresh install.
Edit: SGS2, RevolutionROM 2.6 with nin 2.1.2 ad KH3 on o2 UK.
I've set Latitude to be updated manually (location set manually) and I update it with Latify.
Every once in a while, I notice my battery draining faster than usual and I check my Latitude settings and there it is. Latitude has changed it's location update settings to "automatically update".
I've search and I can't find any real answer. Wondering if anyone knows why this is happening?
I swap sim cards out quite often as I travel between a few countries for work. Is that the cause?
Does nobody else face this problem?
Hello,
I noticed on this week that Google Play Service -module was using a huge amount of battery (~80 %), also noticed that the service was using a lot of storage (~2 GB). Aswell, the phone was totally stuck. I tried to uninstall the updates of that service and also cleared all the data. That helped for a while, but soon the storage use started to raise again very quickly. After that I did factory reset, but even that didn't help.
Because of no luck with factory reset, I started to investigate where that data is located. Found that file /data/data/com.google.android.gms/databases/context_MYNAME_gmail.com.db was getting bigger and bigger, the size was raising about 1 MB per minute. I managed to open the file when that was quite small, the file contained binary data, but I was able to see string "com.google.android.contextmanager.module.UserLocationModule" repeatedly. Basically something was writing data to that file in a loop and the phone was getting more and more stuck.
So the problem is most probably somehow related to the GPS locations. Seems like that the problem does not occur if I disable the GPS location system OR I allow the Google to get my current location.
Any ideas how to solve the problem? Thanks!
Phone: Nexus 5 (rooted)
Android: KitKat 4.4.4 (app updates installed)
Hello there,
for some months now I have an occasional problem with Google Maps. When I start the App, it won't find my location, even though permissions are set. Wiping the cache does not solve the problem. Restarting the phone helps for some days up to a week, but the problem keeps occuring.
Original stock ROM is running, everything is up to date.
Anyone else experiencing such a problem?
Is it possible it's tied to your location? Like spotty GPS reception in the area you keep your phone in when you open maps for the first time in a while? Will the restart fix it while you are in the same location where it didn't work before?
If it doesn't find your location, will placing it on a window ledge or somewhere else where the sky is unobstructed, result in a location fix?
No, it isn't. I usually get a GPS fix quickly even indoors. The last time the problem occurred, it was in the car. When the error shows up, I generally don't get a fix at all, no matter where I am and how long I've had Maps open. A reboot fixes the problem immediately and it then doesn't occur again for days.
I have had this since I got the pixel 6. Could never get gps to lock
Spoke to the Google support team, they said wait for the next update
Next update came and I still have major issues with gps
I would guess it's a hardware issue - submit a warranty claim
