C6806 - 14.3.a.0.681 us ftf - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Whats up guys. I have made a US C6806 FTF file from my most recent 4.4.2 update. It is flashed the same way all the other FTF's are.
This is a fully stock FTF, it is exactly the same as what you would otherwise download with your PC Companion System Update.
Here is the link!! https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5W8Ylg2cEfmMGlQbU9tSlQ4WWM/edit?usp=sharing
NOTE: This is not for the GPE Edition C6806, this is for the Sony Version only.

This recovery and root method also works like a charm, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2687549

For a stock rom, it doesn't get much better than this. You can hide system icons, re sizable grid for the sony launcher, not to mention the themes. I will be making a blacked out them for this soon as the white settings bugs me.

Downloaded and installed no issues on my 6806. Thanks for the upload!

Awesome, I also noticed that the recovery that is linked in that rooting/recovery thread is old. I would suggest using the newest version as you could have issues when using an older one.

I'll wait for the Rooted version of the ROM. Can't wait.

I'm rooted with original 4.4.2 build.
Is there a list of changes associated with this build somewhere.
Is this build worthwhile flashing?
if ou flash but leave the dual kernel in place......will you preserve root?
Thanks

This is just a fully stock FTF for those who want to flash via flashtool rather than using sony pc companion. Main benefit of this is your bootloader does not have to be locked to install.

thanks, so confirming, this isnt an upgrade from my original gpe build then?

This is not a GPE rom, it is the stock c6806 sony rom that just came out.

Flashing this to a GPe will end WITH A BRICK

You use "stock c6806". I'm confused. Is not the c6806 the Gpe edition?

Technically yes, but the answer is no. The GPE is a variant of the C6806, but it's bootloaders are completely different trust me, i hard bricked my old phone testing that theory, lol.

I've taken all the ota firmware and updates. Can I still root?

I've kept abreast of the current state of s-off and root for the past week and have done some searches but haven't seen a concrete answer yet.
Will I still be able to apply the s-off and root method using the prescribed procedures and software considering I've downloaded all the available ota firmware?
Thanks in advance.

If the ROM you flash doesn't already have the updates baked in, which they will, then yes.

Downgrade from stock 4.2.2 to 4.1.2

Since 4.2.2 for the LTE version is out now, has anyone tried downgrading back to 4.1.2 via FTF file and flashtool?
Does that work properly?

Everything went fine, only thing i noticed is that I lost all data including the HD pics and vids the tablet had when i bought it.
Thanks.
I have SGP311 and already made my own FTF file, my question was just if there will be any problems with the bootloader etc..

Bootloader Progress

I was wondering if there is any progress on the bootloader unlock, or should I just pretend that it won't happen?
Also, I noticed that there aren't any developers that have created a 4.3 TouchWiz rom. Is this development halted because of the KNOX security issues?
Thanks for the help!!
There are at least 2 TW 4.3 ROMs. One of them even has an Aroma installer.

This is the only one actually. It looks pretty good. Keep in mind, you need to be on MDK to use it since it uses a 4.3 kernel.

yeah, to be honest, I kind of was hoping for a bigger vender like Hyperdrive or Eclipse to do this to their ROM. Also, it looks like their 4.3 ROM is in early beta stages. thanks though!!
Anyone know anything about the bootloader progress?
Hi. I'm new to this, stuck on ME7 with Safestrap. Am I better off going back to stock and updating it OTA, then rooting? Is there a better recovery then that will allow me to update to 4.3 and eventually 4.4 Roms? Sorry the NOOB question.

You can easily root it by flashing Jackie's 681 kernel. I just did it myself and it works great.
From me. Sorry.
Hello. I have installed this firmware but the front camera in C6833 still don't work. Can anybady help? I have installed a clean instalation with full wipe with root and recovery.

Yes, but for 'now' (at the time the post was written) it's the best we had for root. In jackie099's thread there is an updated 757 version by ChillyChan

Yes you can, you could even flash it while standing on you head. Whether either will have beneficial effects is an different question completely.
To answer the new question: it will most probably work with out issue (I would guess that it's more likely to work if you are standing on your head)
Is the link down? Copy opens up, but no files for downloading

Root and stuff

Hi guys,
I'm an xperia noob here. I came from a Samsung galaxy s3 and an LG G2 and I'm not familiar with modding the xperia phones. I would really appreciate if someone could redirect me to the latest root method. If I were to root, do I need to unlock my bootloader? What would I lose if I root? What would I lose if I unlock my bootloader? How do I return back to stock if I need to? I would really be grateful for the replies from you guys!

Not quite, but it's still pretty easy. If you're on the 4.4.4 .167 firmware you need to check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/4-4-4-creating-rooted-update-package-t2933155
sorry my mistake, didnt know for that new firmware. But its still easy to do it, it requres only 10min of your time
Thanks for the newest root method, but what would I lose if I root or unlock bootloader?

If you only root, you don't loose anything. And with unlocked Bl you will loose warranty if something is wrong with the phone (camera function should be intact)

Either its possible or not, when a number of people on xda have done it I'd say its possible.
So less rephrase my post for clarity, in general OTA Upgrades are not possible on rooted devices, but a number of users have reported successfully performing an OTA upgrades to 4.4.4 on rooted devices without losing root.
