the activation screen on an unactivated phone. you get it when you power on the phone. any app listed under apps on the phone. all phones come with pre-installed apps. one of these apps.

Try this trick:http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-htc-one/311993-any-way-bypass-activation-screen-use-phone-wi-fi-only.html
Apparently you gotta touch the four corners on the select language screen. Works on AOSP, might not work on skinned Android versions.

What happens when you press home button??
Or does your phone have a search button? Maybe you can access Google Now?

take sim card out, then bypass activation screen. go through Setup Wizard skipping/opting out of everything via Next/Skip/No. at end of setup, you will see Home screen. from there you can run apps, etc.
i had the sim card installed still. when i bypassed the activation screen, i only had access to Settings on the phone.
Glad you solved it.:good:

I was on a 5 hour flight earlier today, and while I was on the flight I got bored with my nook so I started trying to figure out the different settings that anycut can create shortcuts to..... Beware don't do it. 2 of them did nothing because of an error, and the last one I did said "you do not have permission" then my nook rebooted and erased most everything...
Except, the hacker keyboard was there, the search button said it was not installed, and I couldn't use the unroot.apk because I no longer had superuser access.
Doing the 8 failed boot attempts got me back to square 1, and I also figured out how to bypass the out of box experience. I didn't have wifi and it also bypassed my registering my nook.
FYI: to bypass at the factory startup screen, hold volume up and tap the lower left then the lower right hand sides of the screen in that order... A button will show up that says factory, click it and then hold the volume up and tap the lower right hand side of the screen. Another box will appear then you can click "skip oobe".

This will probably halve your battery life (which should be 8hrs+ with wifi, 10 without).

I believe one person (at least) had this experience and the general belief is that not registering caused some B&N service to constantly run in the background. If you see otherwise, please let us know.

I thought we have successfully debloat all the bn svc, didn't we? It's kinda moot since the ota seems to not care if you have registered or not.
On another note, i noticed the owner and account name in my settings menu changed to "unavailable" after i debloat. Anyone has any ideas?

I was desperate on the flight because now I didn't have anything to play with.
When my device originally reset, the oobe was giving me errors because I had deleted the devicemanager.apk to hopefully stop updates. But doing so made it impossible for me to get past the registration screen because necessary files were missing.
Did a google search on my iPhone while on the plane to figure out how to get past the startup registration and wifi process

Well you can just time battery usage and watch it go down, but yeah there are various battery programs to track it (betterbatterystats etc). It's not "a little bit" - it's almost halved. Sure, go test it and report back. More data points are always useful

I have found a way to bypass that annoying FoxFi lockscreen on my Verizon I545 GS4! If you have FoxFi "Already" installed follow these steps:
(1) Press Home button-->Settings-->More-->Security--> Trusted Credentials--> User--> FoxFi--> Scroll down and select Remove-->Home Button.
(2) Re-Start FoxFi App--> Install certificate "BUT" on "Credential Use" select "WiFi"--> Ok-->Ok again-->Enter PIN #--> Turn on Mobile Hot Spot and leave on-->Home Button--> Shut screen off w/pwr button-->Home Button-->Enter PIN #-->Menu--> Settings-->My Device-->Lock Screen--> Enter PIN # for the "LAST TIME"-->Then hit Swipe (no security) and Boom...You're Done!
(3) Now you can turn FoxFi On or Off and don't have to worry about that annoying lock screen...Enjoy!
PS...If that annoying "Warning Triangle" happens to show up (it may not show anymore) just-->Swipe down on the notification panel and press clear if you don't want to see it while FoxFi is on!

Yes it works with Nova. However, the specific steps noted by the OP are different. Basically, after you remove the FoxFi credential make sure you set the lock screen back to swipe, you need to use the wi-fi option when setting up the credentials, leave FoxFi on and turn off the screen, enter your pin, reset the lock screen to whatever you like, and then you are ready to go.
Thanks OP for finding the fix.

You're quite Welcome!
The steps I've provided were if FoxFi was already installed and the PIN # lockscreen was already in place. However if your way works also that is fine with me as long as we achieve the same result of enjoying FoxFi WiFi without that annoying lockscreen

What is TW?
I'm stock, unrooted and on 4.4.2 and I've had no luck being able to set anything other than a PIN or Password. I followed the steps exactly.
One thing that might be of note is that simply removing the FoxFi credential doesn't give me back the option to set anything other than a PIN/Pass, I actually have to click on "Clear Credentials" under Settings > Security to remove all certificates before it gives me the option to use a pattern lock or no lock at all.

LaTropa64,
TW= Touch Wiz is Samsung's Original Launcher...
LaTropa64, Reinstall FoxFi like you normally would, put in your pin and THEN follow the instructions I've provided. I believe you've cleared the CLEAR CREDENTIALS tab instead of clicking the TRUSTED CREDENTIALS tab. Just start from scratch and you'll be fine! So far it's worked on the previous members without any problems and they're utilizing TW (Touch Wiz) and Nova Launchers and they are enjoying free Hot Spot without any annoying PIN's and Patterns...
Good Luck...we're in your corner!

As for the recovery issue no idea.
Try this:
After sliding from top corner to bottom corner, for entering the recovery at boot, cover the whole touchscreen with your hand and release when the recovery menu pops up.

Hi All,
I bought a tablet from a hospital auction a few weeks back. It has pre-programmed content running on them. The content is Context Media Health services and they play on a loop. I have tried a full wipe, restore, factory reset and nothing is working. I cannot even add an account or get google play to acknowledge I have a device - probably because I do not even have google play and cannot get it to install. I would like to just wipe out all the Context Medical Health information and get them back to factory or just get that off of their in order to use them.
Model # UIT313B-U01
Android version 4.4.4
kernel version: 3.0.36+
build number: Android 4.4.4
Outform-TAB1310-13.3-Y4. 13-20160122
Can anyone point me in a direction or lead me somewhere. These are just the way they came to me I have not ran any programs on them to correct because I am not sure what I need to do.
I would appreciate any help and Thank you in advance!

If you can access the status bar(it may close itself, if so just tap it really fast), tap on settings.
Send the .apks you will need over Bluetooth(custom launcher, F-Droid, etc.) then run them.
After installing your launcher, enable it in settings.
Next time you go to the home screen, a pop-up box confirming which launcher to use will appear. Just tap on your launcher and select "Always".
DO NOT uninstall "MDM-Client". Every thing will break if you do!
The tablet will be in a workable state, I have not tried to install a custom ROM, but it would probably work.
I hope this worked for you! I have almost exactly the same thing you have.

If you transferred over Bluetooth, tap the triple dots in the top-right corner. Then hit "Show received files". Tap the .apk, press install. When that's all done, press the home button, select Nova Launcher, and press "Always". Now you have a different launcher then ContextMedia Health's launcher!
I'll look into getting the Play Store if you'd like.

I tried to on mine but I couldn't get it to work, but try this anyways:
Uninstall the Play Store you have currently installed.
Download the .zip that contains the four .apk files from here. (the file was too large to simply attach to the post, xda caps .zip file sizes at 20 MB)
Get them on the tablet, either by bluetooth or USB.
Install them in this order:
(1) accountmanager.apk
(2) servicesframework.apk
(3) playservices.apk
(4) playstore.apk
After that the Play Store might be installed and work correctly. I am not sure. It's worth trying though.
If it does work, but the play store looks old, don't worry. It will update soon enough.
I hope this helps you out!
