Hi guys,
Is there a pre applied screen protector on the Tablet S? Looking closely at the corners of the screen to does look like it but I haven't found any confirmation of this. I have a scratch on my screen and would obviously like to fix that.
Note that it was exactly like this on my Sony Ericsson Xperia arc where I just removed the pre fit screen protector and found a perfectly unscathed glass screen below. SE however declares that they apply a "shatter proof film" to avoid cracked glass displays
Can anyone confirm for the Tablet S? Has anyone tried to remove it?
Thx
Mine never came with one lol
Are you sure? Looks exactly like my phone. You would never have guessed it is there and you need to look really closely.
I bought one last week, and I can confirm there is a screen protector on the Tablet. I bought it in The Netherlands

Yes, there is indeed one applied from factory, just as there was with my Xperia Play. I did go ahead and add an anti-glare protector on top of mine so I essentially have two protectors on mind now, but I think for most the hassle and frustration of trying to apply a protector without dust/air bubbles etc, simply isn't worth it as you are already protected.
There is a screen protector on the Tablet S just like most of the Android phones from SonyEricsson.
It is quite different from what you can get in the market. The screen protector from the factory is to prevent cracks or breaks. The screen protectors selling on ebay or whatever amazon are for anti-scatching.
I was recommended not to removed the factory screen protector on my X10 once before but I did it. After removing the screen protector, the glass is quite fragile like iphone's. It ends up with cracks at the edge when I dropped my phone from my pocket. Because I was sitting at that moment, the height is approx. 30cm.
Sorry for my bad english.
Mine has a screen protector. It's a 16gb one from the US.
Thanks, looks like the scratch is just on the screen protector then which is good news
On Xperia phones we know it's fine to remove (providing you don't drop it) but would like to hear from someone with a Tablet S. The my scratches aren't big enough to motivate the increased risk of breaking the glass, yet at least..
I have scratch on my screen already, so worry... now since everyone said there is a screen protector I feel better...
It seems redundant to put another screen protector over the factory installed. I can tell there is one on mine since it feels like plastic when I touch the keyboard...Is everyone still putting the sony screen protector over the factory installed?
I did, but it was a b*tch to do so with all the bubbles. But I managed to get them all, but one. See no reason why not use an extra screen-protection when you got one.
Has anyone managed to get this screen protector off the screen? It's a terrible dust magnet so i want to get rid of it and put on the "other" sony one.

I used a fine kitchen knife and peeled it of gently. I did it on the sony lcd-protection. Not the pre-installed one.

Have you found that the sony screen protector has reduced screen sensitivity... especially when typing?
can't said that I had. Did not play around with the screen before i placed the protection over it. It feels fine and responsive. The only thing is that it gets a little harder when it's hot outside and your hands gets warm, but that goes for all touch-devices I guess.
ditto
the matte finish is worth any loss in sensitivity, its fine with the official sony extra cover on and the matte is a BIG diff.
In fact it was a major selling point for me IMO, saw it in store next to the samsung tabs and the glare was hilarious. It wasn't until I was checking the box contents that I realised that the matte finish was due to an extra cover, but since that was part of the deal I didn't care. I didn't realise that it would have any impact on touchscreen sensitivity (?), in my experience with other devices I've not seen such an effect.
I also bought the matte one and applied it over the "other" (since there seems to be no way to peel it of) screen protector. The matte finish is great, and the touch feeling is much better than before. The original screen felt sticky and kind of rubberish when swiping with the finger, the matte one feels more dry. Great improvement!
Didnt get one in the Netherlands, but myn Tablet was a Demo machine in a store
I bought the official Sony protector and I actually really don't like it. I got it on with no bubbles or dust, and the matte finish looks nice when you put it on and feels nice when swiping etc.
Unfortunately, in my case, the touch sensitivity took a steep dive and made swiping vertical lists, vertical combo boxes, etc a real pain to do. By far the worst thing I've found is that the official protector leaves horrid fingerprint marks all over the screen, which kind of ruins the Sony's lovely sleek and shiny looks.
I love my Tablet to pieces, but the official protector I bought here in Australia is truly dreadful.
Don't be a fool, leave the factory applied protector on. It would be like peeling the safety film off of your windshield on your car. There is no practical benefit from doing it.
Either buy a clear aftermarket one or the matte Sony one, but don't degrade your tablet. If you have kids, however, encase it in carbonite ASAP.
I'm looking around and can only find ones for the Z2 tablet.
Has anyone found one online that they are happy with, or do they even exist? After owning the tablet for a year and a half I was finding the film that's already on there too scratched up and difficult to keep clean so I pulled it off finally. Felt good. Now if I can find a tempered glass protector like the one I'm using on my phone I'd be happy.
I have one from Amazon and i'm happy with it. It's a little bit smaler, but it's OK
@chaot88 : can you provide the link ? i also interested in buying Tempered glass for Tablet Z , but i couldn't find the T.H for XTZ :/
You've obviously misunderstood me. I bought a tablet Z2 Tempered Glass, as both devices are almost as large. The Tempered Glass is only slightly smaller, but with a slim case you see it no more

If you don't mind, would you be able to measure the size of the glass? I'm wondering how much difference there is in size between the z2 and original Z tablets.
You can look at the sonymobile Website under products/tablets The glass has the size for z2 tablet

can you post a photo? I want to see how big the gap is.. :highfive:
I've ordered one for the Z2 off of ebay. I'll post some pictures on here once it arrives in case anyone is still wondering if this will fit with the Z tablet.
@tinodevoe I just put on the XTZ2 tempered glass on my XTZ and it looks good enough for me. Totally unnoticeable unless you are trying to look for the gaps. Only thing I'd say is bad is the cut out for the camera is off but not big deal. I prefer my camera covered by glass protector when possible anyways so it won't scratch in front of the lens making the image come out funny. Check out pictures I've attached.

I would notice the cut-out for the camera, and I think it would bother me. The gap on the edge of the screen looks quite 'large'
Just got the tempered glass just now . Installed it and it looks really nice ! .. in my opininon , the camera hole and the gap really doesn't interrupt my view . Sure it is not 100% great .. but it is the perfect alternative way to get Tempered glass for Xperia tablet Z
here i attach some images with and without casing >;

Where i bought it ( the delivery was pretty fast .. ordered it last week and i got it today , means that the delivery time is 1 week ship to worldwide guaranteed ) http://www.ebay.com/itm/S1-Ultra-Th...or-F-Sony-Xperia-Z2-10-1-Tablet-/400697088368

:good: I ordered this one and have it on my Tablet Z as pictured above and below, fits great even though its for the Z2 Tablet..Installation was a breeze...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QY9LOKG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
The camera hole does not line up but I barely notice, and if you have a case its not noticeable at all ..
Trust me get a tempered glass screen, you won't regret it...
I also recommend this case as well, it looks great and all the ports are open for easy access...
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B4D0COG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
Its so much easier keeping the screen clean as well, no more greasy film or streaks , response time is excellent as well, no noticeable lag of any kind....
That hole is not for camera, it`s for the light sensor. The Z4 tablet has its light sensor about the same place as Z. Only the Z4 is smaller.
I stand corrected..
I was not paying attention to what I was typing....
After several months with this screen protector I am still quite pleased....no scratches of any kind thus far....
I just wanted to warn anyone who has the phone, I have ordered 4 different tempered glass screen protectors from Amazon and they were all labeled "huawei p9 plus" but once they arrive they are for the regular p9. they might fix this eventually but as of today 5/27/16 they seems to be selling the same thing with different packaging. here are the one i bought that did not fit.

I will try and contact the sellers and see if they plan on getting the correct size and will update here when i hear back.
thanks for the heads up
do you where to buy a good one ?
Unfortunately the P9 plus don't come with factory installed screen protector film. Im looking to buy one online but the Nillkin ones does not cover the curved part of the screen

I still havent found anywhere in the US to get a good tempered glass for the plus. I have ordered some from ebay... but they probably wont be here for another 10-20 days since its coming from china lol.
Finally received on today that is actually for the p9 Plus! now it is the same as the previous poster said NILKINs was, it does not go all the way to the edges due to the curved screen edge but It works great for me and is closer than any other ones i have ordered. I still have some on the way so if i get one better i will let you guys know.
heads up, It does comes from china, took 7 days for it to get to me.. thats not bad!

I received one of these from ebay today, looks pretty decent and seems to be the right size. I haven't fitted it yet as I got a custom (non tempered glass) matte screen protector fitted at a shopping mall while waiting for this to arrive. I may fit the tempered glass one depending on how I get on with the matte one.

Anything new concern P9+ in tempered glass screen protector or wallet case?
hi, can anyone confirm whether they've found a P9 Plus screen protector that covers the entire front of the phone? I know earlier two members said they might have found them but neither had put the glass on yet. i ask because i got two here in HK, and neither actually fit the phone's front completely (it does cover 95% of the screen, while not covering the side bezels at all... it just looks ugly because you can see the edges of the protector looking at the phone straight on). i suspect most sellers are passing off P9 screen protectors as P9 Plus ones, as the OP mentioned, this has happened on eBay too.
This is a really dumb question, but it is bugging me. The tablet arrived last week and the screen does not feel "smooth" and smudges really badly. Does this tablet ship with one of those protective plastic layers that is meant to be removed? I'm not seeing an edge and don't want to start digging around if there isn't actually a protector on there. I'm not talking about a screen protector that is meant to stay on but one that is meant to be removed after shipping.
Thanks,
Craig
Mine came with a removable "screen" when new but the actual screen is not like other mobile device screens ie anti-fingerprint. The a7 lite screen loves fingerprints and only when I installed an actual screen protector that minimizes fingerprints did the screen start feeling and looking better.
Ok guys I got the Xperia 1 iii after much thought and since I got it after getting the official Sony case and a screen protector I have been through 3 glass screen protectors in like the first couple of weeks and hadn't even droped my phone outside . I put this down to the poor protection from the official Sony case offers. So I purchased the Spigen case that offers the full bumper cover and replaced another Spigen glass screen protector for little under £15 and after putting it on my bed side cabinet last night and getting in the car this morning I noticed the screen protector is broken again .and I haven't even dropped it inside . So I'm down over £100 in the last month or so and geting fed up with trying to find a decent case and screen protector for the Xperia 1 iii
I also look for a good screen protector. Which one can I get on Amazon Italy?
I have read that it is best to avoid the spigen align master.
As a cover I feel great with the Spigen
Spigen case is great. You will not find a suitable screen protector because the edges of the screen are still "curved" thereby not allowing the protector to cover the entire screen edge-to-edge. I gave up on a screen protector for most phones lately due to this fact.

I think it depends on what you mean by edge to edge protection. If you mean it covers the entire front, bezels included all the way to phone edges than no there isn't one, though those screen protectors with black borders all around get pretty close. The draw back is that depending on the manufacturer, some of them have black borders covering the edges of the screen more than others, which can be noticeable and annoying.
There are also screen protectors that go slightly beyond the edge of the screen. As in you can see the border between the screen and the bezels right beneath the glass, but that's about it. I consider that screen edge to edge and I have been using that. As you mentioned, since the screen curves ever so slightly at edges, the edge of that screen protector doesn't sit 100% flush on the screen.
Some manufacturers give a kind of transparent filler glue that you can brush in the gap along the edge to fill it up and make it looks seamless instead of a visible air gap. However because it isn't a solid surface, the glass along the edges can crack if you press your screen edge hard enough multiple times, maybe from an intense gaming session. But under normal use, so far it held up.
I don't have recommendations, as I bought them from my local e-commerce site, although they are direct from China, so I'm sure they are there somewhere on Taobao or Aliexpress. I am not sure of which ones are these if I were to search on those platforms, or on your platforms like Amazon.
I use spigen glass and except the first one that broken easily i have no issue.
I bought spigen case but trashed it after a single day..too bulky...i bought a 10 Eur in soft clear silicon off amazon.it (Elyco Cover) Not the best against yellow tint but i smoke then no case will ever be safe from yellow tint.
But this cover is really really thin and don't ruin phone appearance
The spigen cover for iphone 12 pro was good, pretty thin but protective. The one for Xperia 1 III from spigen is really really bad, it protect well but increase the size of the phone in a nasty way

Not sure which Spigen case you are talking about but the one I have does not add hardly anything to the feel of the phone. Oh well, to each his own!

The Spigen ultra hybrid (in 2021 It was the only cover for Xperia 1III fine by Spigen)
And compared to the One i use now is sensibly bigger and bulkier, also i found the hard plastic parts in the rear of the cover pretty nasty.
For example on my old Xperia 1 i have the Spigen Crystal liquid cover and if you compare that Spigen cover with the One for X1 III Is pretty clear how the new cover made the phone bulkier.
It's not much, around 1-1.5 mm thicker, but the feeling Is worst, at least for me.

$12.00 can't be beat!
I really recommend the original cover with stand:
Osłona z podstawką do smartfonu Sony Xperia 1 III | XQZ-CBBCB - Etui - sklep internetowy Sony Centre
XQZCBBCB.ROW : Stylowa osłona z podstawką do smartfonu Xperia 1 III
scentre.pl
It is made of materials that helps heat dissipation and also anti-bacterial.
Maybe it's only a cover and expensive one but I can say it is really a good quality. So I can recommend it.
Spigen cases all the way. Had them since my Nexus 6P.
If you can get up to north Wales tech base they have what they call clear shield it's like that dbrand skin I have it on my Xperia 5 ii only prob is getting there and paying 20 pound of you want I can show pictures of the front and back o also have the like crabon type back cover and also have Duc ducis flip case I alternate between the 2 and go naked sometimes
Here's what I was on about
