Steps I tried to fix it.
1. Click Disable on the app. Does not work
2. Go to the app in Manage Apps and click clear cache and force stop. Does not work
3. Installed Doc No-Op app. This works, but it Car Home app still trys to open and Doc No-Op stops it, but this cause my screen to return to home page and bothers me i I am trying to text, email, browse internet, ect.
4. Installed NoDock trial, but want work because phone not root
5. Installed Titaumn Back, but want work because phone not root
6. Cleaned the charger port. Does not work.
7. Installed z4root, but does not work for G2 phones
8. Called Tmobil for replacement G2 but, the no longer carry G2. I like G2.
Do I need a new phone. I am fustrated.
I read that VISIONary can temporary root phone but can not find the app. Then I read that VISIONay is no good to root with.
All help is well appreciated.

Thing car home app is installed in the system/app directory.. To do any changes to any file inside system folder needs root permission.. Even to freeze or disable it using 3rd party apps you need root..

How do I root the HTC G2 phone?
Thank you,

By G2 I believe you're talking bout htc hero, if yes http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253.. You'll find everything you need there, if you have any questions post in the devices specific Q/A.. If you meant some other phone by G2 simply try to find your devices specific forum and ask for guide from there

I assume by HTC g2 its the HTC vision, that's the T-Mobile g2 or desire z?
If this is the model phone you have there is only one way you should root it, this is with the gfree method.
To confirm what your steps should be boot to bootloader (power on with volume) and write down everything line for line here

Rooted my phone, root seems ok, but i still cant tether

I hope it's ok to make a topic about this... Been looking around without finding any duplicate posts. I should note that i had an older rezound that i rooted just fine on gb and it tethered fine.
This new one had ics before i rooted it, and i get issues with any tethering app i use; even barnacle, which was the one i used last time. Ill post the error message i get in a subsequent post, but i think it had to do with difficulties making an ad-hoc connection or something.
Anybody face this issue?

Use this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether
Go to settings in the app, set devuce profile to HTC rezound or Samsung galaxy nexus CDMA.
Change setup method to net D master, turn off encryption and scroll down and check to enable routing fix.
Delete the Verizon mobile hotspot app and the system app TetheringGuard.apk
be sure to grant superuser or supersu root access

Awesome, thank you for your post. I followed you up until the delete the verizon mobile hot spot app and the tetheringGuard.apk. What is the preferred way to do this? I have titanium backup pro (that i normally freeze my apps with, I know thats not the same) could i do it through there?

Don't worry about answering this. You can if you want. I just tried it from the point I was at and wifi tethering is now working. Thanks again man.
Amazing how the settings actually matter... I know I had tried this app already lol
Yeap its very picky with those settings, and titanium backup is exactly the app I use to uninstall those two apk's

There will have to be a workaround because AT7T doesn't believe in Net Neutrality

Though post 24 here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2281818&page=3) looks semi-promising. We shall wait and see
And 25 sheds a little more light. Let me play
1.Get SQLight editor from the market
2. Get Root Explorer from the market.
3. use Root Explorer to browse to /data/data/com.google.android.gsf/databases/gservices.db and click on it
4. then click on “main”
5. Scroll down to gtalk_vc_wifi_only – highlight and hold
6. Press “Edit Record” and change the “value” to false instead of true
7. Reboot
I may be able to mod the .apk to do this, but in the meantime might be a good workaround (let us know if it works)
Yea i can't find this entry in gservices.db.. d'oh...forgot i fresh flashed yesterday and don't have hangouts installed. hang tight.. eh i still don't see gtalk_vc_wifi_only in gservices.db
Have you tried this yet?

Yes there's an app on the playstore that will do these commands. But it's for Google talk, not sure if it will work for hangout.

[Q] Help would be good...

Hii i just purchased the LG optimus G E970 and i was wondering that how do u move Apps and games to sd card in it??
i have the 4.0 android version...
Welcome and congratulations on your new top of the line device. To move apps around you can use a program called apps 2 SD. Or better yet rom toolbox. It let's you configure shlt on your phone precisely although you need to be rooted.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda premium
Thanks 4 the reply but apps 2 sd doesnt work as it takes the screen back to the apps setting and their is no option to move it to sd card....i dont know how to root and i cant take that risk..
You're out of luck without root.

You should just try to root it is really simple. Search for or and look around the forums.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda premium
To root your phone look for an app called 'Framaroot' here on XDA.
Try the options in the app, one of them will root the phone! :good:
If you do root your phone DO NOT REMOVE BLOATWARE WITHOUT UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER, otherwise you will get security error softbrick and need to restore with lgnpst program.

Help! Ultimate Rooting Failure.

Well, after not even having my phone rooted for a day, it seems like i have already probably bricked it. I hard reset my phone which normally wouldnt cause a problem if i didnt 1) delete the home launcher and 2) delete the keyboard app. So i can neither get on apps or type. Only thing i can access is the settings panel. My phone is a Kyocera Event running 4.0.4 if that helps. Is there any way to recover from my noob mistake or have i bricked my first phone? lol
Well i figured out if i can just install a home launcher on it then ill be ok but i cant figure out how to install an app on there without being able to access the google play store. Can anyon tell me how to install an app on my phone via pc? Thats probably the only way. If anyone can help id be very thankful thanks a ton:banghead:

Open the play store from your computer web browser, sign in with the same mail you use in your phone and get a launcher. It will download and install automatically in your phone.
Will it still install to that phone even though my email isnt on the phone anymore? It was deleted when i reset the phone
Sent from my SGH-T499 using XDA Free mobile app
Ops, my bad, i forget you did a reset. Well, you can open settings, right? Add your Google account again, then download the launcher from play store.
I wish i could but i deleted the stock keyboard apps too :banghead: if i could find a way to access my sd card, install an app on my phone via pc or get to the google play store then i could fix this. Next time i definitly wont be touching any non bloatware apps lol

Lg G2 Mini Root+Bugs

Hi folks, recently I bought my ney g2 mini and of course the same day I rooted it to have full access to the device via λroot.apk. 2 days later my lock screen stopped working as I disabled via the lock settings, though I didn't. So I full reinstall the original firmware via my PC and the original LG TOOL+kdz ROM and after that u re-root the device. Some days later I had the exact same problem. So I did a second master format and I let the g2 mini unrooted and guess what. It works like a charm till now. Does anyone else rooted user had this bug? Is there another verified method to root the lg without any problems?? Thx!
Perhaps a root-enabled app or a virus is doing it.

I rooted through towel root and had no problems whatsoever

Whell, I though so about some third party apps but not sure what that might be. Used to install busybox, titanium, root tools pro, lucky patcher and other staff. Maybe I ll try again some time soon..now I want to enjoy my lock screen ?
Whell, after a few days with no root, i decided to give it a try and re-rooted my phone. Today, i found my lockscreen desabled.. again! I have no idea if it's a virus or some third-party apps with root accsess that may affect my lockscreen.. i post a video showing me changing the diferent types of locking but nothing happens.. Any ideas?

I have had this kind of issue myself few times... Its only some of applications that uses root privileges_(most likely some xposed framework) Try to install one by one app which uses root, than u will see which one is disabling your lockscreen. In my case it was XIUmod for xposed
