I am trying to flash a `CMW Recovery` into my HTC Explorer device so i could install a custome rom:
Upon issuing command:
>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
I get this error:
sending 'recovery' (4728 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.877s]
writing 'recovery'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 1.467s
Can anyone please explain why is this happening and how can i solve this? Thankyou
Have you used the htcdev.com site to unlock the bootloader?

My Problem
Upgrading hboot. I've looked into the other posts. But in none (that i have looked at) they do "fastboot flash hboot". Maybe it's just the same?
I'm just following everything step by step (link)
Code:
$ fastboot flash hboot hboot_jellybean_260-8-168.nb0
sending 'hboot' (512 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.095s]
writing 'hboot'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 0.219s
What am I overseeing?
Note:My bootloader is already unlocked
Update: Might it have something to do with read/write permissions?
This exploit solved everything:

When you error 92 please flush image again immediately, you're supposed to rerun fastboot flash zip whatever.zip

Can I flash the firmware from ClockworkMod recovery?
Hi,
I’m following the steps listed in this wiki for the HTC One T-mobile. I’m on the 2nd step “Flash a custom recovery.” I downloaded koush’s recovery (link provided on Install_CM_for_m7tmo of cyanogenmod wiki), and when I run fastboot on it, I get these results.
$ ./fastboot-mac flash recovery ./recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.1-m7.img
sending 'recovery' (7270 KB)... OKAY
writing 'recovery'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
So I tried another image I found, but same results.
$ ./fastboot-mac flash recovery ./recovery-clockwork-6.0.4.3-m7tmo.img
sending 'recovery' (8830 KB)... OKAY
writing 'recovery'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
I’m in FASTBOOT w/ the USB cable hooked up and that screen shows these details:
*** RELOCKED ***
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.44.0000
RADIO-4A.17.3250.20
OpenDSP-v31.120.274.0617
eMCC-boot
Any help much appreciated.

You need to unlock the bootloader first. That's what the 'relocked' you see in Fastboot refers to - your boatloader is re-locked.

i messed up my device trying to flash a different carrier's firmware and now my recovery doesn't work. Every other xt1021 recovery image i try to flash it says preflash verification failed. All i need is the Cricket Moto E recovery.img and i should be fine. If anybody could get this file for me i would be very greatful. (i can't install OTA updates or ADB sideload updates without this file)

I'm very new to all this Lineage OS stuff and I wanted to might as well try it on an old android phone when I get to the part where i flash the teamwin recovery it says that

I've unlocked the bootloader and installed all the crap and still no go
Got it working the guide I was using to put the team win recovery wasn't clear that I had to unlock the bootloader via the Motorola website.
