1) Firmware (aka FW) and APK development is completely different.
2) What do you mean for "modify"? Modify existing source or reverse-engineering an existing app and modify it?
3) The website is not working, at least for me.

Hi all,
I have been looking around for long time and trying different solutions to add Arabic (BIDI or RTL) support to my vibrant but with no luck.the only thing is just adding the font so instead of showing squares it shows the letters but disconnected and in reverse order.
Have any one been successful in porting the language support from the i9000 middle eastern rom? I tried but my phone will not boot and I don't know how to access the log at that stage to see why or what is missing.
Do we have a better built in support in froyo? Or it is the same?
I have seen many threads in many forums but most are not active for long time.
Any help will be appreciated.

I managed to make an arabic 2.1 rom. Everything works fine with exception of GPS. Just do not know how to create a flashable zip file for the rom to post it.

How did you do it?
Where did you get the files from? or you compiled your own?
Is it working now right-to-left and reshaping?
I would appreciate your help.
I am running now BIONIX1.6 rom (based on T959UVJI6). what is yours?

Can you provide us with that script or show where to get it from? maybe we can update it to work with the new rom.
There is an update rom running froyo 2.2 for Orange (I9000JHJP4) and has support for Arabic and hebrew, i tried to get some files from it to my 2.1 but did not work, i know i am missing more files that should be also integrated. that rom is for the international Galaxy S i9000 so it might not work with Vibrant
you can find the rom at samfirmware.com

I tested this patch without any changes and got the same error
I am trying to understand this java disassembled code to be able to fix it for the new ROM.
The patch already cover the full range of unicode characters for hebrew and arabic + other rtl languages.
Can anyone help me with generally understanding the disassembled code or provide links to some resources that can help?

Look at this thread, one guy is trying the same thing and he is getting the same error, and i think he got a work around in a hebrew site which i could not understand so you might find the solution to your problem there http://iandroid.co.il/forum/topic5657.html but for me I still need the Arabic character reshaping so RTL alone is not enough
And this is the link to the XDA thread where they discuss the same issues, and it seems that they are about to integrate the BIDI solution into the AOSP and CM

Welcome to Dev.
1. This is Dev. Not Q&A. Not "herpy-derpy I don't know how to mount rfs" fun time. We're not here to help you with your stupid problems that you could have just googled.
2. ALL-CAPS IS NOT CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOL. Even if it was, even cruise control needs a decent driver.
Now google, "How to mount RFS in (operating system, preferably linux), and see what you get.
Good? Good.
Now, lock or move.

This is Dev. Not Q&A. People shouldn't go to Dev to ask questions about general Android information. Furthermore, I'm here to publish to push forward (in the limited ways I can) development for the Galaxy Player. Dev's don't need crap mucking up this area.

Many times, no. It's not needed. For basic compilation, it's really not. Anyway, many people can just dump the files they need from the device itself.

@ BenG7, thanks for links with instructions of : -
Could it be as simple as extracting:
- libbluetooth_jni.so (?),
- libbt-aptx-4.0.3.so,
- libbt-codec.so (?),
- libbt-codec-aptx.so
from /system/lib from the default rom
and copy these into the /system/lib of the desired rom with the same permissions?
Have you tried it?
or do you want me to try it? I don't know how, but I will study your instructions in much more detail and reply later. I doubt I can make it work, not only am I not computer programming coding literate, but am also busy with work.
Still, it's great advice / tips.

No I haven't tried yet, to be honest I want to be cautious and gather all the information I can get before I try as I am no developer. Don't try either, look here, it's already been tested:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45831034
but surely there must be some developer tool that could allow to track these pointers, I am investigating the point
Thanks

/sys/android_touch/vendor (open it as a text file)
That tells you the make of your touchscreen. First step to seeing if it is compatible at all.
And you can't just make CM for another device work for yours by replacing a few files. It has to be ported to your device or compiled from source with all the right drivers and binaries. This requires a lot of developer knowledge, which you don't seem to have judging by your questions. So don't go messing around changing files in ROMs and trying to make them work. If you're really interested, learn about porting and compiling from source.

op2_o2_mp8.rar . A file used by oneplus support team
this is an official fastboot image
looking for someone with a fast computer to crack the password.
here it is

this is the actual official fastboot zip taken directly from their servers
this thread is only for those who want to help out with brute forcing the password
more information about this file is available on https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...d-give-the-password-of-op2_o2_mp8-rar.414549/

more coming soon!
note that I did not verify the file in the mirrors
I'll see what I can do. I'll also forward it.

Good luck.
More mirrors are there in the oneplus forum thread and the official support download link is also there in that thread. I'm going to try to make as many mirrors as possible on Sunday
This file has all the images you will ever need (except efs.img) to restore the op2 to stock
How did I get my hands on this file? Well, I have my own ways.....
Why do people want this package so badly? It's just the MSM download tool with Stock Oxygen OS 2.1.1 . Also, it's not fastboot. It's via qualcomm bootloader.
I actually managed to crack it because i got a server powerful enough to do so(my Xeon workhorse ). But i won't share ANYTHING around without permission of OnePlus. So it's for my own use for now if i ever need it.(i couldnt even guess how you can brick your OP2 so bad that you need a bootloader restore...)
There must be a reason that they protected these files. Because i can already guess that there will be dumbasses ruining their phone even more.
If you want to make progress in this password thing, Then make a petition and kindly ask them to release the files for public.
You guys must know that i'm totally on your side that hiding files is not good. But asking passwords is even worse. And they must have thought about it when they protected them.

Well, if you have the password and don't want to share it, then why did you reply to this thread in the first place?
It's okay, you don't want to share the password but do you realise that you're just adding spam to my thread?
Edit:- and a beginner like me who bricked his galaxy core 25+ times while building build.prop tweaks, roms and kernels, an odin/fastboot file would appreciate help me, If I ever decide to release my kernel.
And most rom developers want it too.
I'm not adding spam. It's just that if you want to achieve something, make a petition. Hacking in someone else's files is bad. Their not ment for end users as they are purely for the Support Team.
Recovering your phone via the Oxygen Zips via TWRP has the same effect as the files in this zip..

If the partitions on the phone are damaged/corrupt/missing, this file may be someone's last chance at fixing their phone.
I did start a petition. I got like 4 followers. That was not enough. The thread at oneplus is the petition that I started.

let's try
Well, make a change.org petition then and let the petition begin! I will sure vote for it. Just advertise it here and there on XDA and OnePlus forum and you can get 1k within no-time. You will just need a proper explanation of why you want it. What profit it gives to us and OnePlus. And make it as business(nice) looking as possible. I will help you with it if you want it.

I don't really want to be that guy, but please spare us the morality check especially after you are claiming to have cracked the file yourself.
If you did crack it allow someone else to follow in your steps since you are so against actually sharing the file/pass. Provide someone with the info on the method used (brute force params or dictionary, etc) , if it was cracked by you it will at some point be cracked by another, no sense in delaying it.
Or don't come on a thread to begin with and start boasting about cracking it... and then wait, Oh yeah and it's for personal use.
