You can download the latest firmware for your Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500) from here, just make sure to change the country box to the country that is correct for your service provider. Once you have downloaded the firmware image you can use Odin and download mode on your phone to flash the firmware. To put your phone into download mode power off the device, then turn on the device holding the volume down button + home button + power button simultaneously, follow the onscreen prompts to put the phone in download mode. You will need Odin to flash the firmware to your device which can be obtained from here. I would recommend watching this tutorial video on how to flash the firmware to your device using Odin (Also make sure you have the USB drivers for your phone installed correctly on your computer or Odin won't recognize your device). Let me know if you still have questions I'll be happy to help you out.

[Q] I9100G Screen of Death

Hello gurus,
I am stupid.
I did not backup my Firmware.
I did not even look at what version it is...
Was so in a hurry to install Litening Rom 6.1
Now I have a pb.
Flashed via ODIN failed.
now I get Screen of death.
I can connect to ODIN and it recognizes the phone.
What do I need to flash ?
I tried few things... but didn't work.
I even tried to play around with the files... and found that the
problem is that sbl.bin and boot.bin seem to be protected...
whenever they are present in the file I am flashing ,I get an failed.
But when I remove those 2 files from the tar file , then It flashes normally , no error... but the phone does not boot... gets stuck at the Samsung I9100G writing screen.
Please help.. the phone is not mine ! It is a friend's ! Silly me right ?
Thanks for your help.
Can you enter to download mod ?
1. Take off the battery during 5 minutes
2. Your phone will be disconnected at your computer
3. Download the driver of your phone and install it
4. Take ON your phone and try to enter to the download MOD
5. Now you can connect your phone to Odin and normaly your computer recognize your phone
it worked for me and i hope it will be the same for you.
My problem is what firmware I should install !!!!
the PC recognizes the Phone already !!
Stock firmware for i1900 G is what you require .
jje
And I can find this where please ?
where do you live ?
Have you disconnected your phone at your computer before try to enter in download mod ?
Try that, take off the battery and press Volume down and Home, now plug the battery.
Normaly you enter to download mod.

I9100G update failure.

Dear All,
I'm in a critical situation,My device is totally stopped working when I have tried to flash a custom ROM (I9100GJPKH8_i9100GDZKH5) to my Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100G but the process failed and can't go further even I'm not able to restart my device the only option to restart is to remove the battery and once i do that i got message telling me that "software update fail" and it won't allow me to go to ODIN menu.
I have searched the net for the original ROM for my device model but with no luck ( Original ROM is: I9100gzcki1_i9100gozhki1_chn)
I seek your help in order to get my device back to work.
Thank you
So you can't enter in recovery-mode? Do u have a USB-JIG?
Check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458
Yeah, I'm not able to go to recovery mode.
what is USB-JIG?
Thanks for reply
I think u will be able to get into download mode. Try to get in there and download a custom rom for I9100G and not I9100 understand and flash using Odin. Hope it will help u.

I don't think u can get a USB Jig fast. U need to buy it from eBay. Between Wer u from?

OK. If you can get into download mode (turn phone off. Then hold down the home button & the volume down button. Keep holding these down then hold down the power button), go to Sammobile & download a I9100G stock rom & flash this in Odin following whatever instructions Sammobile have for flashing stock roms downloaded from there.
If you can't get into download mode there's a slim chance a jig might get you into download mode.
There's a thread over in the General section where people have offered to let other people use their jigs. You might want to have a look at that thread & see if there's someone close to you who might be able to help you out rather than you buying a jig on eBay & waiting for it to turn up in the mail.
You can diy one.

If you tried to flash a custom rom ANYTHING other than Juffo rom based on DZJk2 for Gingerbread on a I9100G using odin and you cannot get into download mode... you probably soft bricked your phone.
Buy a USB-jig (basically a microUSB connected to a resistor, there are multiple videos on Youtube you can make one urself or order it online)
Insert the USB-jig into the phone while its powered off, and you should be able to get into download mode automatically.
Go find the original Stock rom and flash it back and look up how to properly backup/and root your device + using custom rom.
There are not many I9100G roms out there, theres the Juffo Rom and the Dark rom for "ICS experience" if i am correct, someone can correct me on this.
** if a USB jig does not turn your phone on or boot into download mode... and your phone is powered off... you hard bricked the phone, and should go see a JTAG service to unbrick your phone.
Galaxy rom rc3 works great. Try out with Lucifr 1.21kernel.
Sent from my GT-I9100G using XDA App
unfortunately, the problem still exists.
I downloaded the files from the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458 except the kernel, could someone give me another link.
please guys, any help..

Root SCH-R760

Hey I have a SGS2 but its a generic handset from ACG. Its similar to USCC device but my kernel is completely different than any others on the web. If I use ODIN to flash a custom Kernel in my device will it result in data loss or any other harm? I am still kind of lost as to what using ODIN to flash a custom kernel will do to my device other than put CWM and SuperUser on my device.
I would also like to know this. I also have a SCH-R760.
I actually ran through the rooting method, and the Kernel didn't touch the Radio. I didn't have LOS, and I am running Jelly Bean on my device now. You can follow the links in my signature below =]
nice, if you need the stock ever shoot me a pm, and I can get it uploaded.
If anyone is just wanting stock root, it can be found HERE.
could someone please help me asap, im an amateur tech geek and well i tried rooting my phone and i downloaded the wrong kernel and now my phones stuck in airplane mode, no hardware info or baseband info please help me ! DD:

If you can get it in download mode, do a one click Odin back to stock and start over. For my phone I use EL29. Usually if you can get it to Samsung screen, it is only soft bricked and fixable. Good luck!
Install the Galaxy S 2 Drivers
Driver Download
On your phone, select USB Debugging and Unknown Sources from the Settings menu.
(unknown sources located in the application tab in settings at the very top and usb debugging located in the application tab in settings in under development).
Plug your phone into your computer with the USB Cable that came with it.
Download this easy rooter tool
Epic 4G Touch Auto Fixer
Run the e4auto-sfx.exe (aka Root and download mode placer)
Press E then Enter.
Then press H then Enter on your keyboard then press any button to continue.
Your phone will now reboot into download mode. (green android guy that with a downloading bar)
Download Odin if you don't already have it
Odin Download
Download this Stock SCH-R760 File
Stock Download
Select the PDA Option on your Odin and flash it.
This will restore your device to factory default settings. From there you might need to flash your carrier files into the phone since this will restore it 100% back to factory settings.
If you have more questions I am here to help.

Hey, I have a generic sch-r760. I already managed to root but I am wanting to install a custom kernel with cwm attached. Need to get a recovery on the thing and I'm looking for ROMs as well but if I can at least get a kernel with cwm I'll be on the right path
I am sorry to be 'That guy'... But this is not the right place at all for this question.
If there is a forum for the device in question, you need to go there and ask the question. If not you need to go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=456 and ask the question there.
If a noob comes in here and does anything on there E4GT from this post, they will be very unhappy.
I have asked a MOD to move the post to avoid confusion.

Thread moved to Android Q&A since it didn't belong in the Epic 4G Touch but doesn't seem to have its own forum.
Thanks for your understanding on this matter.

This guide works great for the SCH-R760x even though this is a US cellular site
Root Guide with CWM and no Triangle.
Team US Cellular posted some good stuff for this phone on their website. Haven't seen any mirrors on XDA yet

[Q] Samsung galaxy S2 with gingerbread rom not recognized by Windows nor Odin

Hello,
I've got a friend who never updates his old S2 phone so he always has the original rom (2.3.3, I9100XXKDJ, GINGERBREAD.XWKE2).
So, as I already used Odin to update som Samsung devices, I decided to update its rom to put the last supported for the S2, so the 4.1.2
I wipe data in recovery mode but after, impossible to detect phone on download mode from Windows and Odin.
The funny thing is that if I try with my S2 (with a 4.1.2 rom) in download mode, no problem, it's recognized by Windows and Odin (with a color square)
The only differences I see between my and its S2 are :
- version of rom and therefore version of bootloader which are very old
- his phone is always simlocked with his french operator, but normally, there is no reason to interfer with Odin, no?
However, once his phone configured (with always his old rom as I could not flash another), I tested the mode storage usb and no problem, the drive was recognized by Windows, but impossible to recognize anything in download mode.
Somebody has an idea?
Thanks

Hey there,
Since your friend has GT-I9100, you can try this guide to update his OS to a newer version: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/samsung-galaxys2-i9100-unroot-official-jellybean-firmware-460777
The guide is very good, as it provides official drivers and OS/PIT/MODEM etc. You should try to install the newer version on any other Windows PC(If you can try to arrange one), as your PC is unable to detect his phone's download mode.
Need any further help? Don't hesitate to ask.

Ok,
In fact, there is no problem to download the new rom to flash.
The problem is the detection of his phone by WIndows and moreover Odin.
If I follow your links and specially http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/samsung-galaxys2-i9100-unroot-official-jellybean-firmware-460777, I remark that in that page "USB Drivers " doesn't work unfortunately.
But that's strange, because I installed Samsung USB Drivers which works on my S2, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 and S5 4G+.
So why there is problem with his S2 and specially in download mode (as I said above, the usb storage between computer and his phone works...).
Maybe I could ask him to desimlock his phone with his french operator and retesting even if I think it's not the root cause...
I tried also to try samsung update menu from his phone, but as it's too old, it finds nothing.
Edit : Maybe also interesting to try with a WIndows XP virtual machine + Kies which is the official software, and maybe will recognize his phone to upgrade it.
Thanks.

G925F Unbrick help with a solution

S6 edge stuck on opening logo of "Samsung galaxy S6 edge" - it's not mine, so I can't know the history that caused it - but I think it's related to a bad try of rooting.
when trying to flash a new stock firmware from Sammobile getting the same problem - even after wipe and wipe cache.
on recovery getting this messege on the bottom:
dm-verity vertification failed... need to check DRK first...
this is what I tried to do to fix it:
1) flashed newest stock - still no do.
2) tried to flash with smart switch - it did flash - but it didn't help - phone still in bootloop.
3) flashed S6-UniKernel_v6-0001-ODIN or S6-UniBase_BOG8_v2 - it did helped, the phone worked, but I lost the IMEI and needed a certificate to fix the IMEI, I did it and the phone works fine..... BUT I can't left it with a custom rom 'cause I want the original updates and the original stock rom.
4) tried to flash the repair firmware G925FXXU1AOCV (comes with 4 files CSC, AP, MODEM and BOOTLOADER) which is 5.0.1, so it fails (tried also with pit file) - didn't do.
5) last thing I'm willing to try - is to split a new firmware to CSC MODEM BOOTLOADER and AP by myself... the only problem is - I don't actually know how to do it.
another thing I've noticed on the download mode it is written:
Current Binary: samsung Official and System status: custom
I was wonder if someone can give me a clue what to do, and how to fix this problem.
thanks!
What country are you from? Are you sure the phone isn't on 5.1.1??
Download the firmware from sammobile of your own country or the nearest country/countries, put the device in Odin mode and try to flash that one through Odin "AP" Okay "IF IT FAILS" (copy the Odin log and paste it on this thread. If it succeeds LET US KNOW PLEASE.
Be sure of the Android version.. If that's impossible my safe bet is to flash it with a rom for 5.1.1
You shouldn't mess with the PIT files!

hey,
first of all, thanks for the replay!
If I flashed with smartswitch - then it should flash the newest rom and the one who fits for the device.
what I flashed in odin is: G925FXXU3COJ1_G925FOJK3COJ3_G925FXXU3COJ6_HOME.tar
which is Israeli firmware and 5.1.1

was working fine and apparently on hungarian XEH firmware but not sure if it was on 5.02 or 5.1.1 when 16 year old kid did something or the other with it to put into bricked state.
have no idea of its previous info or condition as it was handed to me in a bricked state
only thing i can do with device is get into download mode and flash via odin...
have never ever been able to get it into recovery mode ever !!!! not even after any successful flashing
I can flash many stock files either the single tar files or either the 4 part multifirmware files
Can do flash and emergency recovery firmware through samsung smartswitch
but no matter what flash if its odin stock firmware flash or samsung smartswitch flash have never seen recovery and always can never get past the white samsung galaxy edge 6 with powered by android in white at bottom too
after succesful flashes in odin cant get out of download mode if auto reboot is ticked, only way out is to hold vol down and power. or get back into download mode then vol down to cancel/restart,
phone just never gets past that white message screen, sometimes that message will splash across screen continuouly like its turning on and off...like some sort of bootloop.... depending how i try to power/boot the phone back up again
and then sometimes it will just stay on the screen forever lit up and frozen/hanging...
strange thing that is happening now if you look at the last few attempts of flashing the 4 part multi firmware file and ticking re-partition to fix the pit files...
once i turn phone off out of download mode.... i cant power the phone/boot it up using just the power on button.
normally i assume to start the phone or turn phone on all u would need to do is hold power button.
so if phone is powered down or turned off after flash, power button alone will not turn it back on, have to go back into download mode and restart from there
i hope any of all that makes any sense at all
Here is a question for you.
When the device is OFF and you plug it into your computer, does the device then jump to the Smart Switch screen?
Btw IMPORTANT when you say that you "flash" the device through odin are you referring to the pictures on your thread where the logg states that it failed on "nand write" and once on "hidden.img" or did it actually pass after the complete flashing of all the files "hidden.img" included?
Firstly need to try this; when the device is stuck in the bootloop you have to do this.
It shows you this type of screen (1st)
http://www.pocketpc.ch/attachments/...49759183-s6-edge-bootloop-20151210_155028.jpg
(does it say kernel isn't seandroid enforced?)
Then this 2nd screen shows up
http://zidroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Galaxy-S5-Boot-Animation.png
RIGHT after the 2nd screen SAMSUNG LOGO disappears press volume UP, HOME and POWER you need to be VERY FAST.
Then once the (1st) screen pops up again, release the POWER then volume UP and HOME buttons.
Maybe it's possible that it'll jump into recovery, even if it does this is not the solution just a way to diagnose.
Don't worry we'll fix it!

If you have to flash it in any way to get it in a bootloop then the test isn't required! Don't do it.

This is what i gathered for you guys as a possible fix, it would work 100% if you guys didn't mess with EVERYTHING IN ODIN!
Because i have tested it myself several times.
READ EVERYTHING CLEARLY
4# When you mess with an s6 to the point that it does not turn on anymore and it only reacts until you plug it into a computer then it shows a screen "error occurred during update use Smart Switch..."
Well by that point Smart Switch mode partially takes over and you can only flash the device successfully in Smart Switch mode using Odin on the computer NOT Smart Switch.
(this knowledge will be useful later)
!!! PART 1 !!!
Here we go, follow this in detail.
STEP 1. You need to download the original Odin 3.10.6 from XDA here below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3109599&d=1420980613
STEP 2. Download the Kernel below:
http://mirror31.downloadandroidrom....nibase/S6-UniBase_BOG8_v2.tar?token=514002462
STEP 3. Open Odin on your computer as administrator.
STEP 4. Now connect your device to your computer.
STEP 5. Put your device/phone in Odin mode.
(volume down, home and power)
STEP 6. Make sure Odin has detected the device.
STEP 7. Load the Kernel in "AP" and wait 1 minute, then click START.
It should say PASS! However if it does not succeed, reboot the device and try it again in Smart Switch mode.
(It should actually pass the first try if these simple instructions are followed properly)

!!!PART 2!!!
STEP 1. Download this Firmware below:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/62003/G925FXXU3QOKN_G925FVFG3QOKN_VDF/
STEP 2. Open Odin as administrator.
STEP 3. Connect your device to your computer.
STEP 4. Put your device/phone into Odin mode.
(volume down, home, power)
STEP 5. Make sure Odin has detected your device.
STEP 6. Load the Firmware in Odin "AP" and WAIT a few minutes UNTIL Odin is done reading the file. THEN CLICK on START and install the Firmware!
!!! IMPORTANT !!!
1st Possibility, if Odin shows "FAIL" "hidden.img" then that's a GOOD THING!
your phone is allmost fixed.
(Let me know if that happens.)
2nd Possibility, if Odin stops at "Nand Write" you must start over, unplug your device make sure it's OFF, then plug it back into the computer in order to boot the DEVICE into SMART SWITCH MODE and then follow the "STEPS 2,3,5,6" again!
DO NOT FOLLOW "STEP 4" Leave the device in SMART SWITCH MODE. (read above "4#")
HOWEVER
If Odin shows "PASS" then DO NOT UNPLUG the DEVICE! Go get yourself a coffee your device should be perfectly fixed!
Just unplug it AFTER A FEW MINUTES and try to switch it on, if it doesn't boot up? All you need to do is replug it into the computer and see if it boots up by itself (this does occur sometimes).

You can proceed rooting your device ask for help for a complete root guide for this specific device/model SM-G925F.

I did flash that UniBase kernel and because of this I've lost the Imei number... I had to use Jtag box to recover the Imei.
so Beware when flashing this kernel.
I will try to flash the stock rom from sammobile... Hope it will help.

And look, we are not talking about the device but we are talking about ODIN! Does ODIN fail or succeed flashing?
IF ODIN SUCCEEDS WITH FLASHING, THEN TELL ME!
SUCCEEDS Like This;

Or
FAILS Like This; http://ajqi.com/wp-content/uploads/...or-and-nand-erase-all-for-Samsung-devices.jpg

when I flash it passes in Odin...
only problem is - the device stuck on the first logo (powered by android).
and on download mode it shows:
Current Binary: samsung Official
System status: custom
and on recovery it shows:
dm-verity vertification failed... need to check DRK first...
I did some research also
http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f77...drk-device-root-key-not-shoving-imei-1991601/
and
http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f684/dm-verity-verification-failed-1974767/
I'm not sure what is this rootkey issue, someone said that it is damaged, therefore it shows the dm verity vertification failure.

found another thing, will give it a try:

I also got the "dm verity vertification failure" today, but with me it happened because I was dumb enough to flash a G920I modem and bootloader on my G925F...
So it also bootlooped and everything, and then just like what you had, it asked me for Smart Switch. But then when I used Smart Switch on it, I got firmware from a totally different country than my own (think it was from Mexico or something), as I live in the Netherlands. And it even asked me for my phone's serial number before Smart Switch went on and flashed that firmware.
So I guess they only look at the CSC or something? Anyway, after that I got it into download mode and immediately flashed the newest correct firmware, and am happily flashing ROM's again Just download your own country's 5.1.1 firmware and you'll be alright, as long as you can get into download mode

yeah... already flashed the newest for my country.. it flashes well but still stuck on logo after.
from some reason after flashing, on DL mode it shows :
Current Binary: samsung Official
System status: custom
so the system status refuses to become official. even after using the smartswitch software.
I think maybe some of the partitions in the eMMC are corrupted.

I think that's because you've tripped knox (hence custom), but you do have official samsung firmware, (hence official).
Edit: Have you checked your kernel?

succesful flashes i mean passes, i can get many many stock files to flash and pass no problem now as wasnt the case when i first got the phone
It shows you this type of screen (1st)

thats the first screen i can never ever get past
(does it say kernel isn't seandroid enforced?) it doesnt say that... but previously when i was flashing twrp and booted tried booting the phone up it woud say recovery isnat seandroid enforcing, i dont get that no more as i am flashing stock firmwares
