Disabling Capacitive Button backlights on Unofficial AOKP 4.4.2 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

If someone could tell me how to disable the backlight on the capacitive buttons. I want to do it to save battery.
Im running http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2609761 AOKP 4.4.2 rom and its super stable. Just need to disable backlights.
Thanks for any help.

Install xposed framework, then install the gravitybox kk module. In there is an option for disabling the lights. Other than running a ROM with that feature baked in, this is your only option. Good luck!

its more of Rom specific, u can try the latest CM10 nihgtlies, since CM10 rom has Hardware Button 'Re-Mapping' facility included
Thanks, but I am not into experimenting too much. I prefer to find a good rom that fits most of my needs and try to live with it since I don't have much time to spend on customizing the phone as I am using it for work too
Miui and roms based on it have this feature. Only in lockscreen though...

I ll look into those. Thanks
ROM. Neatrom has it as well...
at the end I installed the P.A.C. and it works really well.

Is there a stand alone mod I can flash that will enable using the volume buttons to awake my device. Don't necessarily want to flash a custom rom to get this.

Try the BulletProof m7 kernel.
It is really easy to flash, and uses an aroma installer.
You can select and deselect options as well.

[Q] Hey guys! quick question

Is there a mod to turn off the capacitive button lights on the lg og e970 but still keep the functionality? I think it looks alot sleeker when the lights don't come up
Either run xposed framework with the gravity box mod, or some custom ROMs do this as well. I run that way on newest beanstalk.

It might save a tiny bit of battery. But I do it strictly for appearance. I run LMT for on screen buttons, and the lights annoy me when using the phone in a dark room.

Looks better off, I disabled the lights awhile ago, haven't noticed a noticeable increase of battery though.

Even in stock jb rom , you can disable the lights. Simply go to settings - display. There'll an option for hardware keys backlight. Uncheck the option.

Works for me from the toggle but not the volume up button. Tried a bunch of times, no luck. On Hyper you would have to push power button to light the screen, shut off screen, then the volumn up button would turn on the torch. Tried that too, no luck. Thanks though, having it on a toggle is more than i had before!

Yep.. They work independent of each other.. The toggle Flashlight / torch I added.. The torch for screen off the volume rocker I just enabled the setting.. The code to enable it must of changed slightly or it was pulled out completely like if you remember you can enable some toggles but they no longer work because the code was complete removed..
Kind of what they did with Blocking Mode / dormant mode.
And andybones pulled all the code and added it back..
Since then it was added back after me7..
Will see how things go.
Thanks for your feed back.

Did you flash them in order? What other mods are you using? I'm running JrKruse nc2 rom and it worked fine outside of the vol rocker plus r-hippy's inverted missed call notification but I believe it was when I flashed a theme that broke systemui.
All I can say now is check the file structure of some of your mods and see if they conflict.
I read it even works with the S5 launcher.
Sent from a mod junkies I545
I have the s5 messages, launcher, s - note, a couple theme apks, and the s5 quick settings things.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Try a clean flash of your rom then install the S5 launcher then this.
Sent from a mod junkies I545
Once you flash any other mods that have systemui or secsetting apks it will stop the function of the flashlight or systemui depending on what other files it's calling/ using. You will need to apply the changes to the same files to keep all mods.

Flash SuperSu as last piece of Install Procedure. So you will not be encripted.
1. Download ROM, Gapps, SuperSU and put it on the phone's internal storage.
2. Boot into TWRP recovery.
3. Coming from a different ROM? Perform a factory reset using TWRP. If you're upgrading from ROM, proceed to dirty flash.
4. Flash ROM, Kernel (Optional), GApps, SuperSU.
5. Reboot and enjoy.
