[Q] Volume Rocker Issue - AT&T HTC One (M8)

Just noticed today. My volume rocker feels a bit off. By that I mean that the Volume UP side of it is slightly raised and the Volume DOWN is slightly more depressed or flush with the device. Is anyone else's like this? Was it meant to be like this? Do let me know.
Thank you!

Mine are like that, just barely.

Just slightly here, too. I think it's supposed to be like that.

Mine's like that too. I thought it might be from fastbooting the phone too many times. Good to know it's normal.

Vibrator loose

It seems like the vibration motor in my Prime has "fallen loose."
Anyone else have this?

It's actually not though, that's the problem. I can't even feel it and it sounds like it's rattling against glue/tape.

Dammit, Everything else is so good on this one. Ugh!
Issue is covered in this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400681
There are 5 or 6 of us that have had the issue, I got mine replaced for it.

i would say wait it out dont return yet wait until stock fills up unless the thing is so bad you cant stand it
Mine sounds like a duck everytime I would use the keyboard. It really got annoying as everyone around me was like "WTF is that quack sound?".
I ended up turning it off all together...

not the only one
Just got my Champagne model, and have a Gray as well. Going to choose which one to keep.
So far, everything works on the Champagne, EXCEPT the haptic feedback. It pretty much just makes a noise, although every now and then it does actually vibrate the device.
The Gray has a bit of light bleed, and GPS won't get a lock. And haptic feedback on it, although not noisy as with the Champagne, is very weak.
So, I turned it off on the Champagne and am considering keeping it. It's awesome otherwise. Problem is, it still tries to do haptic feedback when manipulating things on the home screens and app launcher (like moving icons, etc.), as well as in the Gallery when selecting images for deletion).
Grrr.

yah i dont know why there still is some haptic feedback when you turn it off. I dont care thst mine doesnt work but its annoying when it still tries to do stuff when you turned it off. I guess eventually I wont be changing things atound that much so it wont matter but still, annoying.

Power/Lock button

Is it just me, or is the power/lock button annoyingly hard to press sometimes. I wish it had a more noticeable "click" to it, or was raised just slightly more than it is.
I've had the phone since it was released and I love it, but I was just curious what other people think.
it is harder to press than my inc2 was, definitely. a minor thing, but yes, i've noticed it as well.
It surely is a pain. Coming from the OG Inc it was a bit difficult to get use to the power button being on the other side.
This is one of the good reasons to root so you can get wake with the volume buttons! It works so much better.

what he said. and my volume buttons are just as recessed as my power button so its lose/lose with me lol
I agree, I feel that it's also a little bit too recessed that you have to press it longer or harder. It may just be that it's new unit.
I have to say, having used Razr, I am a little bit disappointed with Rezound
I really wish the buttons were like the inc 2, those ones are the best that I've used on a phone. I wanna try to raise these ones, since I've already taken it apart multiple times, but I really don't know how I'd even do it...

I wish it was easier to press like other HTC phones.

One of the only reason I use my otterbox case is for the buttons on the case are so much larger.
i was close to getting a commuter, but it was so bulky i didn't even bother..but damn those buttons were great

I agree 100%, the power button setup has always annoyed the hell out of me.
Whoever designed that setup should lose their job.
Nothing was worse than the sunken power buttons of the thunderbolt. I am amazed that wasn't mentioned yet.

this is why I avoid the power button.
I use volume keys to turn on, and a widget to turn the screen off.
works wonderfully.
I'm so glad I'm not the only person who thought this lol

Loose Power Button

This may seem a little OCD, but is the power button a little loose for everyone? I popped my case off really hard and I feel like I might have pulled it hard and messed something up. This is loose compared to the volume rocker though. Replies would be appreciated and call my nerves some.
Thanks!
My power button seems "squishy" while the volume and home buttons are more "clicky."
I'm guessing it's normal. I keep thinking the same thing when I take my case off and put it back on....
Haha thanks I was expecting someone to rip me for that post haha. Makes me feel 100 times better.

I asked the danish Samsung support and they answered, that it is normal that the powerbutton tilts up to 1 mm.

does anyone have a loose volume rocker? i understand the power button and figured that's how it was supposed to be, but the volume rocker is different in comparison. if you lay the phone flat on a surface, on mine i'm able to wiggle the volume rocker up and down. so front to back of the phone. anyone else's like this?

awesome. now i have to wait for them to be sold in stores. bahhh
My volume rocker wiggles much more than the power button. If I tap the phone anywhere near it gently, it even rattles.

Mine also has the up and down wiggle for the volume rocker...no so for the power button tho

looks like Sammy failed on the hardware this time. in comparison, all buttons were solid on my international SGS2 and my international GNex. it may possibly be because of the coating of the band around the phone and thus they had to use a different process.
edit: i will add, however, this is the very first Sammy device with no screen issues i've ever had. no banding, no bad spots. nothing. i was quite please in this area.
I might just deal with it. The ink spots aren't bad at all on my screen. Of course now I notice the rattle more.. Just moving it forward and backward semi swiftly makes a rattle noise.

yeah i'm worried about getting one with a bad screen if i get a good rocker. just fail.
received my second device today and i can confirm that there was a little more play in the first device. the volume rocker now matches the power button, on the second device, in regards to wiggle/play. cheers!

It was very annoying.. makes the phone sound cheap. Try to get a replacement.
Honestly, I thought the Nexus Volume and Power buttons were cheap enough (they're actually just plastic pieces with contact points). The S3 buttons managed to be worse.
mine is fine, tho the powerbutton is worse. coming from apple i can say i'm a bit dissapointed but everything else in this phone is top notch so in the end i cant complain.

When you pay 800$ for a phone, you would expect it to have Better construction. And what are the so called 'Real Problems'?

Yes!! And also the frame on my phone is cracked near the Headphone jack, Have no Idea how that happened though, It has always been inside a Silicone case and i have never ever dropped it or anything...
I've got a creaky power button.
I also have a creek sound when pushing down on the back of the phone opposite the volume rocker without the back cover on.
I am normally very... VERY picky when it comes to phone... this is my second s3 and to be quite honest I can't be bothered to change it again.
Every Samsung phone I have had there has been a problem with it.
If I take the back cover off and keep pushing it the sound goes away.. but it comes back sooner or later.
But I suggest you get a replacement because the cheap sound the volume rocker makes it very annoying.

Power Button build quality

Hi guys, I just received my G5 yesterday morning, and everything looks good (no gap on the battery module, well aligned, etc) save for the power button on the back.
When I touch it to unlock for instance, it makes a rattling noise, as if there was a loose part on top. Very, very annoying, because when I actually press it, it makes some kind of extremely cheap "double click" noise.
I was thinking about sending it back for a new one, but I wanted to ask first if anybody else was having the same problem, because if I end up getting a new one and it's the same, it's a waste of time.
Would you relate to that?
My button has a sharp click feel and noise. It wiggles a tiny bit, but I know for a fact its not defective.

Exactly, an acute "click"
Thanks for the feedback, I'll send it back then, mine must be defective in that regard.
