Hello, new guy here. Thanks for having me here.
Did a search for the issue, but none thread found comes close. I did an update on Monday (24.03.2014) OTA to 4.3. Of course it failed - forgot to do factory reset before that so what I got was famous samsung screen with blue LED on. Long story short, managed to recover. I had all the usual after-update-battery-drainage issues, but after tweaking and forcing shut a lot of stuff it is much better. Except for screen.
When I use phone with screen on, the battery level drops almost visibly. I would estimate it at 1% for 1.30 mins. What's more - when I use Google Maps Navigation in my car, the phone loses charge even when plugged to the charger (old trustworthy TomTom USB, rated at 1000ma). Slow - about 1 percent for 7-8 minutes, but still. Oh, and phone gets very hot then. With screen off (power button or automatic off after 30 sec) the battery life is awesome and it charges like a sponge. even with constant H/H+ internet connection, audiobook player with headphones on and of course phone services. Comparing to "before update" its much better. Of course it may be due to lot less freeware (read: adware), but it is better.
However, screen is a killer in this deal.
60 hrs uptime, 15h 15min on battery, 47% of it screen usage. Next is Device Idle with 13%. During that time screen was up about 5h total, of that 3h while plugged to charge. I also went through two audiobooks totaling 20 hrs, browsed net (heavy with the downloads - 3gb total) for 2h, used Kingsoft Office for 2h and navigated with google maps for about 4h, did about 3.5h calls, emails check every 10 min (just headers), some texts and camera. All times approximated, but fairly accurate.
Phone is 1,5 years old, is and always was stock. Bought in UK, used in UK, locked with H3G (Three).
Does anyone have some advice? Tips? Tricks? suggestions? Much appreciated.

What you have is normal, you need a new charger is all and probably a new battery. 5hrs screen on time from a full battery is the best you can expect..

Well, since my SGS3 is 16 months old I would say that max screen for me would be bit less than 4h. Battery was used and abused (had message about it being too hot for charging a few times etc.), but right now it is more like 2h on scree time. And NOT charging while navigating is new. Started right after update. And this not charging issue is of supreme importance. I've a roving job over quite large area so I'm driving a lot. And sat nav is a must. And since it's draining battery even on charge it worries me as phone is used extensively - technical chats, calls, online and offline documentation etc.
Anyway, will change the charger. Battery... Have half a year till end of contract, so will think if I need the expense.
Oh, one more thing. On Monday my SanDisk 32gb SD died - that's why I updated. Wasn't sure which gave. I had unexpected unmount message with this card. Could this issue use more battery as well? different card now.

Sd card issues will drain battery. Charging stops when the battery reaches 50°C so if you are navigating and don't point an air vent at the phone it will overheat and stop charging.
Batteries last six months before capacity is reduced, after 16 months you will be lucky to have 50% the original capacity, less if it has ever overheated.

Oh, that I know. I'm hard on batteries, but not in phones. None of my phones ever had failed battery pack, but laptops... all of them. But that's not the issue.
Battery is essentially low energy chemical reaction, so obviously it will be degrading. No issue there. That's why I'm not shooting for max parameters and not worried about it, especially since update phone lasts more. Waaay more.
I changed chargers and it's the same (I have two more never used TomToms and one Tortoise rated at 2 Amps). So i'm starting to think that the issue is not batter, charger etc. I think Google Maps on navigation (which uses simultaneously Screen, GPS and internet) also goes on max on CPU and GPU. that's why tere is overheating and not enough power for everything.
So it looks like software issue. Google maps in particular. Do another factory reset? Everything is up to date. Or maybe I overlooked something?

Sorry for late update, but was out of the country and all that.
Thanks for suggestions. They were useful to solving most of the issues.
First, changed cables, not chargers. cleaned also contacts in the socket of the phone, so battery gets charged well and fast all the time. And is even better after couple of cycles of full discharge/full charge.
Probably because of having less "apps for free" it is simply phenomenal - normal sync (incl. emails), normal gsm, heavy music listening - takes about 5-7% of battery charge per hour, depending on signal strength. It is much worse when working with screen on, but still good - about 5-6 hrs of gaming for example.
There is still issue of excessive battery drain while using google maps, but this may be software issue. will be uninstalling/reinstalling it soon. Should help.
Will inform on that one as soon as status changes.

My S740 is now coming up to one year old. For various reasons I have had 2 batteries for the device which are both of a similar age.
Anyhow, normally I get a full days use out of a battery however on a very busy day I may end up changing to the 2nd battery around 5pm.
In recent weeks, every now and then the battery will be dead after only a few hours even under light use. After a full charge, it is fine again giving full days of use.
I have checked there are no programs running in the background etc and can't see any pattern to this.
This happens when using either of the batteries and is really annoying.
So if this random discharging a sign of the batteries failing or something more sinister? Has anybody else seen similar things? I am happy to buy a new battery but at £30 don't want to then find the same problems again

I've only been using this phone for about a month now and agree the battery can be quite erratic!
I don't think it's anything to with the phone 'failing'. I've had quite a few smart phones and to be honest it just seems to be common practice for these types of phones to have a strange battery life.
Some days from a full charge I can get up to 2.5 days! Other from a full charge it will run down completely in under a day.
I'm going to invest in one of those extended batteries, the battery capacity on those is more then double that of the standard battery. Sure it adds a bit more bulk to the phone but I kind of like that, will turn it into a proper beast!!
My phone's battery-life is also erratic (and limited anyway).
Always was, but with me also more now after a year.
For me it feels a bit soon for a failing battery. Normally in my experinence with Li-ion batteries, they work well for over 2 years.
Often I can relate the bad battery-life with extensive use (calling, internet), but sometimes it's almost empty overnight with 75% at the start of the night.
I suspect a non-linear decline of the presented battery-capacity is one of the causes: while decreasing it falls faster.
In my experience it stays quite a while above 80% and after the 20% warning I only have a few minutes calling-time left.
First of all, hello to everyone. I have been reading through a lot of threads here in the last few weeks after getting my HD2, especially the ones about battery life.
I have never owned a smartphone, so I have no comparison but I'm barely getting through 1 day of use when fully charged! And I'm not even using it that much yet, Wifi is off, no data transfers, just some texting and calls. I have installed Bandswitch and Battlog, didn't really help though.
Got the phone brand new (T-Mobile US) and haven't done any major tweaking yet, it's still pretty much stock with a few programs that I installed so far.
Do you guys have a similar experience or is it completely different? I love the phone, but if I dont even get through one day of use (and I want to use the phone in the future, not just for surfing but for music streaming or web browsing), I would have to bring it back.
Any help appreciated!
It's just something you have to live with, buy a spare battery, or the extended battery, flash a lighter ROM, adjust screen brightness turn off push e-mails etc etc.
I can get 2 days battery from very light use. i.e. a few texts and calls a day, no Wi-Fi, bluetooth or internet browsing. That's just how smartphones are.
So how do you do it on a daily basis?
My battery is fully charged in the morning and lets assume I'm using the phone for what I bought it for - some music streaming, gps here and there if I need it, some web browsing, calls and texts etc.
I haven't even started using most of the features of the phone and my battery has died twice on my already while I was out at night.
How can that be normal or acceptable? I can't charge my battery every 6h...

Maybe you shouldn't have a smart phone? Battery technology is ****, it's a shame, but it's true. The only thing I can suggest is a spare battery, I carry one everywhere.
I generally watch an hour and a half of video a day on my phone, text, call, use the internet and I can still make a 9 hour day with 40%+ battery left, and just incase I am out and about in the evening before I have a chance to get the phone on charge I have the spare.
But with that said half hours charge from the mains will give you a good 30% topup I very seldom have to swap the batterys and I use a pretty juicy ROM.

Given his kind of use, 2 days should be normal. Right now I'm squeezing 3 days out of this battery, and that's only because I swap it out when it's at 10%, otherwise it could be a little longer... and a few calls here and there is not the only thing I did with it... it's still my work pda after all
Since it's pretty much stock, unless it gets better with time (the first recharging cycles are the worst) and even after a hard reset it won't get better, it probably is something wrong not software related.
Install battclock and check the standby battery drain, shouldn't be much higher than 4mA, up to 7mA could be normal, any higher than that, especially if significant, and you've got something wrong, and found the cause to the short battery life.
First off, buy a couple of cheap oem batteries from here...
Now, these eBay batteries have performed slightly better than the original battery...
Some of us smartphone users are so used to poor battery life we have power charging cradles at home work and car just to keep the charge up... And have spare batteries every in case of emergency...
I take my phone off the charger at 6am to go to work... My avg day is 6-10 calls, 20 reminders, an hour of UNO, an hour as a wifi router and I return home at 5pm with 50-60% battery life...
they are trying to make batteries smaller and thinner so they can make the phones thinner and smaller so battery life is compromised. But you do need to give it some time to settle in.
Back up batteries and cradles to charge them are cheap and an easy solution. So are extra chargers to keep at work, in the car, etc. Most people can charge their phone at least an hour during the day and that should give you all you need.
The only smartphone that I didn't carry an extra battery for was the moto q9c, because it came with an extended life battery. But on these phones, that probably isn't the best option.
So what did you guys do to improve the battery life of your HD2? Are there any specific programs (I heared about G-Profile) you are not supposed to use or did you guys just deinstall all the T-Mobile Apps?
If I can just get 1 day of actual use out of it I am OK with that. I just dont want to have die every second or third day if I use more often than normal...
Any suggestions or may tests I could do? I feel like I could stream music on Slacker for about 90 Minutes and the battery would be dead...
EDIT: Just did Battlog for about 15 Minutes, my phone uses between 15ma and 31ma when in standby. So where do I start, how do I find the culprit?

Software and the end-user are the cause behind battery drain. I've got 2.5days out of moderate use so I don't think it's the hardware at all.

At the risk of looking like I'm trying to hijack this thread, I started a discussion on this particular subject a while ago as feedback on my finding after reading almost all the threads I could find regarding battery use on the HD2. Lude219 is 100% correct, the issue is always software related (yea, I know there might be exceptions to the rule) and my phone was a prime example of that.
See the thread below that explains how to measure your battery consumption, has logs and screen shots from users you have high consumption and also people who have systems where battery life is more than 48 hours so that you can compare your results.

I'm also sure it's software related. My phone would use app. 2% overnight with all connections closed. This i tested over months. Then suddenly without me changing anything drastic software wise, it pulled 5% per 3-4 hours. So after going thru all the cleaning routines nothing helped exept a good "ram cleaning" . Somehow or other the phone starts processes over time wich consume alot of power. One would have to look into it with a process manager to find out what exactly it is. WinMo seems to be quite sofisticated looking at all the running processes. So my view is , keeping the system tidy might be the only way to save the extra power.This is where the huge diffrence to other platforms seems to be, it can take quite a while until you have configured your phone the way you need it. I am useing the stock rom 1.66 German

But now, here is a thinker:
Last night, I let my battery drain all the way to zero and then recharged it at night. The only other thing I did was installing BSBTweaks and Touch X Taskmanager. I also changed my Bandswitch Settings to turn off data when not used and put it at 60 sec (instead of 500 sec before).
And I couldnt believe what I was seeing, I took my phone off the charger this morning around 8.30am and now at 7pm I am still at 84%!!! I did not use the phone heavily but sent and received a few texts, made 1 call and played around with it for a little bit. Similiarly to what I did in the beginning after I got the phone, but then the battery had almost died at 7pm!
I am super happy and hope it stays like that but cannot explain why all the sudden it is that different...

with battlog how do i do the test so it stays in standby? it keeps turning the screen on and off when i run benchmark
You may want to flash a new radio. Try a new one each day and measure battery life. I use radio 2.12.50 and have had a good experience.
yeah but with my radio turned off the radio shouldnt affect it shoudl it?
i use blackberry to stream pandora radio thru aux for about 8 hours a day and it still has 2 bars left after that.

you guys can argue with me all you want. i heard many excuses from users advocating the companies. such as. if you dont like this than pay more for a better product. well HD2 is a better product, its a 500 dollar phone damn it.

the final QA testing that is not beeing done by a company, so they can release the phone 3 months earlier, the consumers pay for the phone and test it.
we work for the company and we pay for it instead of getting paid.

Hello, I'm just wondering how long does your Titan last and how do you find battery life. I read all over the internet a lot of people very happy with Titan's battery, but mine is quite bad. I'd like to understand whether it's just my phone which has problems or it's normal.
How long does your phone last? Could you describe the average use you do during this time (do you have gps, bluetooth, wifi, push-mail and stuff on or off? How many calls, text messages, web browsing, games and such?).
Because I just realized that I can use it with all options on and xbox live and get from 100% to 10% in an hour and a half... Is it normal?
My Titan lasts two full days (around 48 hours) of normal use. I never use Bluetooth but wifi etc it always on.
Playing games drains the battery quickly so I often hook it up to power when I play gfx intense games.
Overall I am very pleased with the bettery life of the Titan. I get about the same usage with the Titan as I did with the Mozart. The bigger battery clearly makes up for the bigger screen.

I leave bluetooth and wifi on all the time, do about 2 hours worth of web browsing per day, listen to about 30 minutes of music per day, send a few texts, about 10 mins of voice calls and sync all accounts every hour, battery lasts me comfortably a whole day. HOWEVER if I am in a poor reception area for cellular, my battery life is significantly degraded because the phone is continuously hunting for a signal, this has been a problem on every phone I have ever owned including my nokia 3310!
Well, today I went out with 100%. I left gps and wifi off and 3G on. I listened to music half an hour, browsed the web for another half an hour, used Freda for reading a book another half an hour and then used othe apps with internet connection for ten minutes (no games though). After three (3) hours I was at 50%... I didn't see any lack of signal so I don't think that could be the reason. I'm not sure but I think there's something wrong with my device...
Since I couldn't find any difference before and after the update I don't think it's a software problem. Do you think that replacing the battery could be a solution?
Do you think this is a good reason to contact HTC for support?
Did you check the list of background tasks?
Maybe some app keeps doing something in the background, draining your battery?
Do you mean the list you find on options/settings->applications->background activities (or something similar, I'm translating from my language, maybe on the English version it's different)? There's only gmaps there and it's disabled.

Yes, that is the one I meant. How much battery life do you not get when playing games though?
Well, I just got from 90 to 80 in ten minutes. It's like games drain 1% each minute. This would mean around one hour and a half to get from 100% to auto-shut down... Now I'll see how it goes with playing videos...
I played with games for a little more than half an hour and got from 78% to 38%. So it's still a rate of 1% per minute... How is it for you?
For videos it lasted more, it drained around 4% for ten minutes of playing. I guess this is acceptable, or not?
I'd try not playing games or videos - just use it for email, some browsing etc... but without the intensive usage of games and videos. See how long the battery lasts then. Mine lasts for at least a day with normal use, sometimes up to 2 days if not used too much (although push email always on in the background, and some other apps with live tiles etc...).
Games do drain it pretty quick IMHO.
I think you should let the battery expose for a few more days and maybe there will be improvements like a break-in thing. imho, the battery is used more when playing games 'coz it needs more drive from the 1.5GHZ processor. As for playing videos/internet, it doesn't require much power from the processor and suppose that it doesn't even have flash so more conservation of power to it.

I unplugged it at 10am and at 5pm it went in saving battery mode (less than 20%) and I had to plug it one hour later because red blinking light was there. I had some doubts but now I would say there's something wrong almost for sure...

That is not good at all, I get way more than that, you may have a faulty phone.

That is very poor, I am getting great battery life and I have two email running all the time, facebook, twitter, using wifi, texting, internet etc etc. Get that battery replaced at the very least.
But I'm afraid it might not be just a problem of the battery, it might be the whole hardware which is faulty. I mean, i could buy a new battery and discover that it doesn't solve the problem, that would be a waste of money... Maybe I'm paranoid, but today I experienced even bad experience with phone calls, I couldn't hear the other speaking nor he could hear me and I had to call back three times for less than ten minutes of phone call. I read someone else had similar problems, so I fear it might be a faulty phone and not only the battery... But I haven't had other calls, maybe it was just a coincidence.
Just a quick survey. When you unplug the phone at 100%, before you start using it (without wifi, web browsing, application and stuff) how long does it say it will last? Because as soon as I unplug it I get a 13-15 hours, which aren't very much I think... Considering it should be considered almost standby mode...
Your battery will be covered under warranty by Htc, contact them and tell them the problems your having!
I did and they told me to do some procedures (like taking off the battery while the phone is turned off, or uninstall all apps or reset the device). I'm trying to do this things, if I can't solve I will call them again.
Yeah, that's their standard spiel for any battery problems. I would insist on a replacement handset - how long have you had it?

I just got the Titan yesterday.
I haven't had to charge my phone since then! It came with around 78% charged battery. I've synced about 6 emails, 3 social networking with my phone. Downloaded few apps, games, plenty of text messages, couple of phone calls. I've also customised and changed settings etc. Did plenty of youtube and internet browsing. Played Angry birds for about 16 odd levels, played unite for nearly an hour. Today it second day of the phone and I've got 26% battery remaining. Haven't had to plug in the phone at all!
Oh I did plug in the phone for brief time. That's when I downloaded the recent update via Zune. The whole update procedure took nearly 15-20 minutes, so for those minutes my phone was connected via USB. I don't know how much charge or drain this installation of update and restart might have caused.
In a nutshell - The battery life is much better than those nice reviews on the internet.
First of all, let me say thanks to Scott for all of his work on CleanRom. I know there has been a lot of discussion lately in his thread about battery usage. Some people are getting outstanding battery life and some people can't make it more than a few hours. I have been one of the people that can't make it more than a few hours no matter what I do. I did a clean wipe of everything before installing the ROM and have even tried to reinstall. The odd thing is my wife's phone does fantastic with this ROM. I finally decided to test things side by side lastnight. My phone should have had the clear advantage because I turned off all syncing options and froze any apps that had been downloaded just to make sure there was nothing running. Meanwhile, her phone syncs like crazy to facebook, email, etc and also has various apps running like weatherbug. I let them both sit overnight and after ~9hrs here are the stats I measured:
Battery % left : 79% (mine) vs 88% (hers)
Data used overnight: 75kb (mine) vs 744kb (hers)
Time awake: 3min 32sec (mine) vs 9 min 42sec (hers)
Time in Deep Sleep: 9hr 19mins (mine) vs 9hr 6min (hers)
Everything points to the fact that I should easily have more life left than hers. I am also attaching a couple of screenshots and the betterbatterystats files to this post. Maybe we can track down why everyone's battery life is so different. Tonight I plan to swap batterys between the phones to try to determine if my battery is the problem.
wow that's pretty good on your wife's phone but horrible for yours especially considering you turned off syncing.
I agree. I have no doubt that her phone could easily still be at 95% or more if I made all of the same adjustments to hers as I did to mine. That is why I am hoping someone on here with more knowledge about this stuff can help to determine what is going on.
It honestly might just be a faulty battery, I was having similar results with mine and my friend's phone, too. I tried multiple ROMs, Kernels, etc. But it slowly got worse and worse to the point that I would go down from 100% to 60% in little over an hour, doing nothing but listening to music with the screen off and auto-sync etc off. I bought a replacement battery, though. And this one is working just fine. You might just be having bad battery luck, or it might be your device, I know some people have returned their Rezounds because of battery life/heat problems, and the replacement generally fixes their woes.

Thanks for running this test. It would be very helpful to everyone if you could pinpoint this to a battery difference and I'm waiting to hear your results after the battery swap.
What helped my battery life most was to uncheck the box under "settings -> applications -> start automatically" It has something to do with a task manager. It probably wouldn't explain why your wife's phone does better but it could help both of you get better battery life.
bik- The betterbatterystats file is attached. I see a lot of activity on her phone but very little for mine. The only thing that stands out to me is I have alarmmanager waking my phone for 10 mins and she had it waking hers for only 5 mins. I am not sure exactly what alarmmanager is though.
HTGaming- Thank you for the suggestion but I have already done that as well. I think I have literally turned off everything possible on this phone because it is driving me nuts to burn through battery like this. My OG droid used to us 30% in a day max and now I burn through that in an hour if I am using the phone for anything at all. Pretty much the only thing I had running on the phone lastnight was 4g service which her phone also had.
Another thing you can do to compare the two phones is to install battery monitor widget to see what the drain is on the phones. I used to have decent battery life but ever since the update, it's been worse. The one thing I noticed is that now my phone draws more current when sleeping than it used to. The drain is consistently close to 300ma, whereas before it would be less than 200ma when sleeping.
You have to have the widget on for the monitoring to be active unless you change the preferences.
I swapped the battery's lastnight and here's the results. Hers is still clearly better than mine even though betterbatterystats shows way more activity on her phone again.
Battery % left : 84% (mine) vs 90% (hers)
Data used overnight: 279kb (mine) vs 498kb (hers)
Time awake: 5min 32sec (mine) vs 12 min 8sec (hers)
Time in Deep Sleep: 7hr 58mins (mine) vs 7hr 59min (hers)
Someone posted that they saw different PRIs on phones even after the OTA. Do your two phones have the same PRIs?

Im starting to think that some Rezound batches are differently tweaked than others. My first Rezound had great battery, I would stream music for 5-6 hours on 4G and would still be above 60%. My last two however were completely horrible, on 4-5 hours standby it losses closed to 20% with lil to no use. Same settings/apps as my first Rez. I regret returning my first Rezound, it truly was the perfect phone.
There really has to be a reason why some come with a 3.8 V bat. opposed to a 3.7 V. HTC wouldn't just send out two different types of battery for no reason.
You are missing 1 key info in your analysis, which people always seem to leave out when talking about battery life. The screen on time. I see in in the graphs but it's hard to tell the exact number. Because of the 720p screen on our phones, that makes a big difference. When my screen is on, the phone uses up at least 600 ma/hr. That is conservative, usually it is more like 700-800. We'll assume 600 for now. That's 10 ma/minute. Based on the stock battery, that is 0.6% per minute. So having a difference in screen on time of 10 minutes will give you 6% difference in battery life.
i am also unable to go for even most of a day on one battery charge - and i have 3 extra batteries that were from ebay that dont work even that long...
i do notice it when the screen is on the most - yest i used the gps for an hour and a hlaf without plugging the phone in and my battery lasted about 3 hours after that and died....

I'll try to answer a couple of questions in here. I got very frustrated yesterday so I flashed an ICS rom to see how my phone did with it. It is equally as bad. This morning, I got into work with 97% life, checked my email for about 2 mins and was already down to 90%. I have the screen display set to 30% brightness too. I am amazed that people can used 2-3 hours of display and still have 70% battery after 10 hours. My screen at 30% brightness probably drains 2% per minute. I think tonight I am going to try to install one of the stock RUU's just to check and see if the OTA upgrade possibly didn't install itself correctly.
HTGaming - I will check the PRI's tonight.
Bluesnake - Both phones were purchased the same day so I would guess they are from similar if not the same batch. Both have 3.7 batteries. Infact when I first got my phone, I could have display on auto, sync everything every half hour, use the screen for random browsing throughout the day and still go home with over 70% left. Somewhere along the line my phone has developed some sort of draining problem though and no amounts of clean installs seem to fix it.
b5fan - Both phones were off the entire night. I think screen usage was maybe 10 seconds for both of them. They literally just sat there on the nightstand while we slept and mine drained 2x faster with nothing running while hers ran facebook, email etc.
I checked the PRI on both phones and they are the same. I re-ran the stock RUU tonight so I will see if that makes any difference. I highly doubt it will but I am running out of ideas.

the only other thing I could think to check is the email type, push versus pull, and the frequency.

The screen time was probably just from me getting all of the data off in the morning like the screenshots and battery stats. Her email was on push and my email was set to not sync at all. Basically she had a fully functional phone and mine was set to do nothing which is why the battery drain is so hard to explain.
I did run the stock RUU image lastnight for my phone. I put it in airplane mode overnight and it was at 97% when I got up which is a huge improvement. I took it off airplane mode at 6am today and when I got to work at 7am, it was down to 90% so I guess I am in wait and see mode now. I have no email accounts/facebook accounts/ or anything else setup right now. It is only the stock image so there should be nothing draining battery today.
I can confirm the phone is no better now after the clean RUU install. Let it sit overnight and it was down to 80% this morning. I did not even setup any email accounts or download any apps yet. This is just the stock image from verizon.
The first week I had my 920 I was lucky if the battery was at or above 40% by 12 noon. The 920 is my 2nd phone line and I am using it mostly to learn WP8, to surf the web some and listen to a lot of podcasts, usually 6+ hours of them a day. The past 4 days the battery in the 920 is showing insane runtimes. It is currently 11:30pm and it has been off the charger since 8:00am, over 15 hours with overs 8 hours of audio podcast listening. The battery is currently reading 61%. I originally got the impression that LTE was killing the battery, but that is no longer the case.
I have a Share Plan with AT&T with 2 phones, a Galaxy Nexus (GSM model from Play Store) and a Lumia 920. I use my Nexus as my main phone line, to access GMail and Google Reader (a lot of Google Reader feeds). The Nexus has been off the charger the same period of time and is showing 41%.
For me wifi destroys my battery for some reason I get 15 hours with wi-fi on or 28 with it off
Interesting, mine will usually run for 24-30 hours before hitting 15%, including regular usage. 4G gives it a whack but generally I find similar to other phones, if low coverage it chews the battery
Reading all the doom and gloom of 4G LTE on various mobile phones, after my 1st weeks experience, I was expecting similar results going forward. But, after 2 weeks of use, the battery falls in line with the results you mention. And, with that I am not complaining.

It looks like the phone needs some days to warm up and get long lasting.
Also I see that wp8 is heavly optimized for background task in order to not consume a lot of battery eg: my phone lasts more than 2 days with light usage.
I listen to podcast for many hours and it doesnt affect the battery that much, in fact I'm surprised by it because I know audio playing takes a load on the cpu.
Mine.. overnight without charge or using the phone it drained from 100% down to 35%. BS
Two words: Background tasks.
Make sure you don't have unnecessary background tasks running. I have less than 5 and my battery runs more than 2 days easily.
How do you kill or monitor background tasks?
I had really good battery time of 19 hours the first day of installing the new firmware, then I enabled bluetooth again and it drains like crazy. its hit or miss but people seem to think that whatsapp drains battery. I personally would like to disable LTE (its really slow in my area) and just keep bluetooth that seems to give me 12+ hrs of battery.

You can block background tasks for 3rd party apps in Settings->Applications tab->Background tasks. There is no way to monitor these tasks because WP OS doesn't offer any such capability.
Unfortunately there is no easy way to block 1st party apps and if they are misbehaving (like sync something over and over), there is nothing you can do about it.
Turn on Battery Saver can also effectively kill all background tasks. But that's draconian. I still would like my smartphone do something in the background for me.
Don't forget, the biggest battery drain factor could be your cell phone signal. If you keep the phone in a fringe area, the cell radio will drain your battery very quickly while try to maintain communications with cell towers. This is outside the OS and you can't do anything about it.
I had a weird battery drain the day after the last upgrade. No apps running in the background BAR the movie that i had paused.. I lost 80% without using the phone in a 6 hour period (post charging). After a reboot it seems ok. Perhaps i should pause another movie to see if it happens again....
I must say that I have mine 2 days and the battery drains too fast... I dont know what to do .. Maybe because its new ? Some one can help me maybe ?

My battery is pretty inconsistent. MOST of the time it's awesome, and will last like 20-25 hours without needing to charge, but that just makes it especially jarring when every now and then I go to check my phone at 4 in the afternoon and it's at critical, and I have no idea what causes it.
Plus when it does die I have to put it on the charger for like 2 hours before it will let me turn it on.
I found interesting point in the battery life today, if the screen is off, the battery drain is in the range of 3-4% which is good, however, if the screen goes on the battery drops like 15% in just 25 minutes. After thinking I tried to set the screen sensitivity to normal and it solved my problem. I kept the screen on for more than 45 minutes and the battery went down almost 6% only which is good. I still have to test more to give a concrete evidence.

I usually run a battery discharge app Saturday night. Then a full recharge with the phone off. That usually gives me dependable battery life of about 12 hours a day for the entire week. If I forget and not run the discharger I notice it midways into the week when I only get about 8 hours out of it.

I used the sleep app last night after charging to 100%, and then I fell asleep with it on.
I woke up to find the sounds still going, and when I checked my phone worried that I killed the charge, I found it still had 92% left. That's impressive.
