Sweep2sleep
This is a kernel module for sweep2sleep. The new motion gestures are nice, but there is no way to put the phone to sleep with gestures. To make it worse, the power button placement is awkward. It bothered me so much, I've built this module. It is based on @show-p1984's sweep2wake2.
Swipe your finger from right to left over the navbar and your phone will go to sleep.
I will update this soon, with some improvements and also to work with GPE ROMs.
Download:
Sweep2sleep module for Sense 4.4.4 stock kernel (thanks @lyapota)

Sweep2sleep module for Sense 4.4.3 stock kernel (2.22 base)
Sweep2sleep module
Older version:
s2w_mod
Installation:
Flash zip in recovery
Un-installation:
While in recovery, do:
Code:
adb shell rm /system/lib/modules/s2w_mod.ko /system/etc/init.d/40s2w
Requirements:
In order to load automatically at boot, you need init.d support and busybox. If you have a custom ROM it should work.
For stock users, you'll need to insert the module manually:
Code:
su
insmod /system/lib/modules/s2w_mod.ko
Source:
Module was compiled against Nexus 5 kernel source with m8_defconfig. Some symbol CRC checks had to be hexedited in the compiled module.
s2w_mod.c
Thanks for mod
Out of interest, has it changed since the previous version? Will keyboard swipe still turn screen off?

I changed it, now it's only active directly over the navbar. Before it was almost the whole bottom third of the screen.

My issue with swipe to sleep on the m7 was that the home button minimised the app you had open. And I didn't always want to do that. This has basically increased my love for this handset 10x over. No need to touch that damn stupidly placed power button... AT ALL.
Thanks!!

This doesn't drain battery, the gesture is used when the screen is on.
The N5 has bad drain from sweep2wake, not sweep2sleep. The lcd panel has to stay powered on to recognize touches when the phone is sleeping.
Thanks, makes sense.

So how does HTC's implementation of dt2w work, screen off, moves, like at all, in pocket even, the screen is on to respond to tap or gestures?

That seems to be it. You have to move the phone before the gestures work.
I actually don't like that, because I can't doubletap when it's sitting on my desk. That's how I'm used to checking my phone.

Yea, I like the idea.... But not sure if it works out. Cuz then it's on anyway when moving around in your pocket wasting battery life yea? and could be turned on by your leg if you have some thinner workout shorts on, or in a breast pocket of your favorite flannel tee haha. I've heard that complaint already, I just grab from sides, raise a lil/giggle, then dt2w
Should this work on the Gpe version? Just tried it but nothing happened.

I am running BAMF Sense 3.0 RC3 (Imo's leanKernel running at Extreme with MR2), and I use WidgetLocker. Quite often, I will go to unlock my touch screen and my touching capabilities are not working - I can slide my slider, or do anything. I can hold down the power button to come up with the shutdown/restart options, but I cannot touch them to make it work. Sometimes if I wait a while it works again, or if I get another message/e-mail, but one time I had to pull the battery! I am not sure if this is a known issue or if maybe this is something with WidgetLocker, but does anyone know what I can do to fix this or have any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
Bump - anyone else have this problem? Is it WidgetLocker, and maybe I need to make it no longer use RootHelper or something? When this happens (it currently is), only the power button works - all others do no effect, although they make a vibrate noise when pressed as if there are. After 10 minutes it will work again...)
Just a thought... Bump your min cpu setting to 368 and see if that helps.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
Thanks, I did not think of that - I will change from Extreme to Normal (since Extreme undervolts it) and I will give that a try. Any other suggestions in case that does not work?
That's all I know man. I bet its a setting issue on the kernel.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
You could always try switching to dream kernel 2.3.0 or 2.3.2, which are updated versions of the sense 3.0 stock kernel from das bamf. But I'm guessing that your min cpu setting is too low, especially if its undervolted. I have lag setting it to 245/368 with screen off, but its just laggy.
I tried changing settings on Imo's kernel, still no avail. His kernel gives me great battery life so I am trying to not switch to a different one; I was looking in Das BAMF toolkit and originally I had Sense Lock Screen off, which is when the lock screen froze, and when I turned it back on, I still had the lock screen froze but now sometimes the Sense one came into view, frozen. And by frozen, I mean the touch screen doesn't work - I can wake on with the volume keys and power button, but none of the bottom buttons work too. I am baffled... What could cause this?

No idea, but the easiest solution is likely to wipe and flash again. For other lockscreen issues this has been the most successful solution.

And as for swype, I think in options, by hitting that button on bottom right or through settings, there's a way to reset or tell it to not remember, but no way to edit I don't believe. There's a way to get it to ignore some words but its been so long I've forgotten.

I am using CoolSense 14a.
I noticed that when the screen is turned off, the capacitive buttons are still active.
And if I slide my finger from left to right on those buttons, the screen will turn on. If i slide it from right to left, the screen will turn off.
I never noticed this feature before, so I dont know if its from CoolSense only.
But I would like to disable this feature, so that the capacitive buttons don't respond anymore when the screen is off, how can I do it?
thanks

Ok Thanks, I flashed the latest Cool Sense Kernel, there is indeed a new option to turn that feature off when installing it with Aroma.
Or you could have tried this app to toggle it ----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919965
It works with every cool kernel, also has options to toggle the backlight on/off in Sweep2Wake
There's an option in the kernel tuner app that let's you completely disable it or have it with the lights out too.

Nice one I will remember this for in case I have this problem and I can feel all smart
so i figured starting a general thread for bugs and issues would be a better idea to consolidate everything into one thread!
I've got the Verizon G2, so it would be interesting to see if other carriers have the same issue. These are all, for the most part, software issues.
for me, its:
1.) Launcher Redraw.
video example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gpn-hZnEPqg (ending shows homescreen launcher lag too)
I've posted a video yesterday, and will be posting another today showing how after almost every app, the launcher is redrawing, and therefore causes lag if you goto switch screens after hitting home. doesn't always do it, but does for the majority of the time. it does it enough that it warranted me rooting the phone to try to fix it, so I'm going to give v6 supercharger a go soon and do the bulletproof launcher. I'm apprehensive though because we don't have recovery to make a nandroid...
2.) *solved*Lag on notification drop down on lock screen
video example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLWUXOu68d8
did you set your wallpaper to non scrolling? if you didn't know you can do this, you can. if you goto gallery and select a custom wallpaper, at the top it gives the option of non scroll or scroll, which is awesome. however, beware.. when you do non scroll, for some weird reason your notification drop down will lag in the home screen. setting it back to scrolling wallpaper alleviates this. very weird
3.) Audio during video recording.
video example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oU6Sp5V5Hv0 (also shown is the "breathing" auto focus we all experience.)
The audio during video recording uses noise cancelling mics, which can be good as we've seen in other flagship phones. however, on the g2, they sound identical to the htc rezound from 2011. that phone had really bad wishy washy underwater sounding audio when the source was remotely loud. the g2 does the same thing sadly. other phones, such as the htc dna (shows that htc learned their lesson..) and the gs3/gs4 do not have this issue.. hell, even the galaxy nexus didn't.
I'm hoping that once we get developers on it, they'll make a modified camera that can allow for either the reduction in gain from the microphones, or to be able to cancel the noise cancellation to stop the underwater sound. on the rezound, htc somewhat fixed it with the ics update. here's hoping LG will do the same.
4.) Speaker has built in limiter/compression.
this is most annoying because i like listening to music on the speaker. sounds good but the thing is its being compressed and limited at a certain level, so you don't actually hear the best quality of the song. for example if the drums get really loud, it compresses and limits them down to your volume level, which takes away intensity of the song and just doesn't make it sound even. hoping to find a setting to turn this off...
5.) screen brightness changes with Auto brightness off depending on what's on the screen.
video example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=slwkFhpiYbs&feature=youtu.be
this is that content adaptive brightness crap that they forced on the phone. it changes based on more whites or more blacks on the screen, then dims and brightens accordingly. it's incredibly annoying and there's currently no way to turn it off. in titanium i found an app called content adaptive back light and then i removed it.. it still does it.
what issues are you having with it?
Sent from my LG G2 using Tapatalk 4
my wallpaper doesn't scroll and when I pull the notification bar down I don't have any lag.
I'm gonna post the video when i get home from work. it does it every single time I have non scrolling on the stock launcher, and once I switch to scrolling, it's smooth again. remember, this is on the lockscreen.

- Knock knock works 70-80% on the 1st try. Being a huge selling point of this device and something I use ALL the time I would like this to work 100%
1. There is a headphone CPU noise issue when charging. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448854
2. Transparency for status bar/soft buttons only seems to work for stock wallpapers.

Yes this is unfortunate and unreliable. I wonder if an update can fix this. They may worried about it being too sensitve.
On another matter, my Verizon version is prone to turning on the camera or note pad when in my pocket via the rear buttons. Even prone to turning on the phone when sitting on a table off because of the sensitivity of the rear buttons. Not sure if it is just the verizon model or both.

Your pic shows status bar shaded darker. I see truly transparent on stock wallpaper. There is a slight shading on bottom soft keys, but otherwise transparent.
Another thing I see -- transparent forces soft keys to be white regardless of what you select.
I got intermittent distortion with my Icon HD bluetooth headset during calls. Doesnt matter if the phone is in my pocket or just sitting on a desk next to me. This didnt happen with any of my previous phones (S4, One, Nexus)
Lock Screen Camera App Image?
Is this supposed to happen? If I start a swipe to unlock, the camera app image goes away, but then comes back...
Is this a shortcut to the camera? Usually if I swipe from an app on the bottom that is my shortcut.

I'm currently wavering bettwen Nexus 5 and G2, I like the bigger screen and better battery life of G2. But the location of the G2 screen locking button is annoying, it makes me really uncomfortable.
Yesterday I tried and found that I can lock and wake up the screen by double clicking it, which is a relief. But I'm also wondering if I flash the CM or other customized ROM into G2, will I still be able to do this? I don't like the stock Rom at all. Have you guys got used to the location of the button?

Yes, on CM you still have knock on by default, it's built into the kernel. Knock-off is coming soon, or there are mods that add the function back in.

So you tap the screen twice every time you want to lock the screen? But sometimes if you tap on the app icon, it will open the app instead of locking the screen. How did you solve this problem?
No, for off it needs to be a black spot when not in lock screen or the status bar. In lock screen, anywhere. Yes works on custom roms, but on custom rooms knock off only works from status bar unless third party app.
On CM, you can work around by using a launcher such as Nova Prime with double tap options and a free app from the at store that turns the screen off.
Set Nova to double tap = launch screen off app.
I just set my screen off time to 15s and never worry about it turning it off.
On stock LG Rom, the launcher has double tap off built in. You can also double tap the status bar from within any app.
I don't think I've ever used my hardware buttons. It's very intuitive.

That's what was generally said about double tap to wake, yet the phones that have this implemented, don't have drastically increased battery consumption because of it.
On the other hand, Samsungs half second delay after pressing home button, to wake after deep sleep (formerly just a "feature" of exynos devices, now with snapdragons as well) , is extremely annoying.
Don't see how would the screen always be active? Rather, the fingerprint sensor would be.

I don't believe battery drain would be an issue, but how would you keep the phone in a state to be read?
With double tap to wake and swipe to wake surely the waiting for action state is already developed.
Other possibility could be pressing the home button and sweeping the fi gerprint scanner at the same time to unlock in one motion.

I know. I talk about press (so the screen turns on) AND sweeping the finger at the same time.. This is working for me. I have to do a longer sweepe though.. And i have used all 3 finger setting to the same finger, probably a bit different portion of the finger every time..
Try it.. It works for me. Always unlock with one sweeping and pressing at the same time..
The disadvantage, i can unlock only with one finger.
The problem for me is that i have the home button to wake switched off using wanam exposed module. The phone was active in pocket way too many times.
