Works fine on my evo but its only the demo i thought you said it was the full version? but when i extracted the rockband folder it said there were two corrupt files could that be the reason why?
Thanks to the OP. But just to confirm this is the Full Version correct, not the Demo?
it says it's the demo version and i only have three songs in my list
did u put the ca.jamdat.flight.rockband folder to /data/data ?
i tested on my vibrant and i get full version
gonna check the zip file
*edit* for some reason rockband.zip shows 2 files as corrupted , gonna check which ones are missing and gonna upload soon
I repacked everything and going to upload soon

Voodoo. I don't think it has any app limits like OCLF does. I can install other apps.
just tried, still showing Demo version.
Edit: The keys don't even come all the way down.
Ok heres a problem. The a2_drums_trks.dat is broken so none of the notes show up. a2_gtr_solo.dat was compressed wrong so solo guitar notes dont show. If you can upload those 2 .dat files I will test them. Do a simple compression.

everything works good for me, except when using star power. the notes show for a 1/1000th of a second at the very tippy top. so i kinda have to guess when its time to play the notes. Fun though, thanks OP =)
While this is cool this is still considered wares. Thanks tho hope it gets sorted out
As most of you may know, the music download apps on the market mainly suck. Well about 5 months ago I found one called cloud mp3 down loader. Its the best one I've ever downloaded but its now not available on the markets. The link is there but the download is invalid. Is there anyway I can send it to my girlfriends non rooted note? I'm running the collectives cp1 and she can rarely find the songs she wants.

If you have it installed, it's already an apk, just go to /data/app find the apk of the app you're looking for, it will most likely have a name like com.(developer).(app name).apk
Just copy that into your sdcard, rename if you desire, upload that to some place (drop box works fantastically for this purpose) then just send her the link.
Super simple.
Two options I know:
1. AppSaver from the market will let you save your app into an .apk that you can send her. I usually do this with bluetooth.
2. ESfile Explorer lets you back up an app and share the backup. My partner does it this way.
Sometimes I have had success googling "download for blobbidydo.apk" and have found the app that way.
I hope this is what you needed.

+1 for dropbox. I use it all the time. You absolutely don't need to be rooted on the other end to do this. Just long press the app in file explorer and share it to your dropbox account.

He said he was running the Collectives Rom...therefore he would be rooted...allowing him access to the data/app folder. Deodex has nothing to do with this. Root is only needed on his end. She can then download and install without root...but before you can correct me...she would need "install from unknown sources" selected.

I know your pain. But I bought a 32gig card and spent an evening copying all the old 8 and 16 gig card to folders on my pc (using an adaptor card and not through the phones and tablets) then merged everything into one folder and put that on the 32. By your screen name I'm seeing you have at least three cards to comb through!
Don't empty the recycle bin on your pc for at least a week after.
I've seen numerous people asking numerous times in the same thread on how to use OASVN to update to the latest release. So I figured I would go ahead and make my first contribution to help everyone out.
1. Download OASVN 'AND' 7Zipper from the Play Store
2. Open OASVN
3. Click "Add Repository"
4. Under "Name" feel free to type whatever you want your repository to be called
5. Under "Repository URL" enter: http://evo-4g-lte-sense5-port.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/
6. Under "Local Folder" you will see something like "/storage/sdcard0/OASVNlite/"Leaving that input will make your internal storage the primary download location for the trunk/checkout/ROM files (whatever you would like to consider those files to be called). Keep in mind: The files can get pretty heavy (big in size...) and take up a lot of space. Feel free to change that location if you want.
7. Click "Save"
8. Click your repository
9. Click "Checkout" and let the app do what it does (downloads the files you need)NOTE: IT IS BEST TO BE ON WiFi OR A STABLE 4G CONNECTION!
You will see "Operation in progress, please wait..." and "Performing Checkout!!!"
This can take a very long time depending on your connection speed.
10. Notice that your "Revision" changed from "0" to what should be the latest release/revision from googlecode and is ready to zipped up.
11. Get to the menu on the top right and click "Export Local Copy"
12. Decide where you would like to export the copy that you'd like to zip up and flash.Do NOT use your "Local Folder" unless you would like a migraine. You can use that folder ONLY if you export the copy to a different folder in that location. For example: "/storage/sdcard0/OASCNlite/r98" or whatever folder name you desire.
I use my external Class 10, 32gb SD Card by using "/sdcard2/*desired-name*" and have it saved there.
Also, since my OCD gets the best of me at times, I create a new folder for each export and save it as the revision number. I'm pretty sure you can use the same export folder over and over but I've never done so. I like to be super neat and really messy (don't ask please... thanks).
NOTE: Using your internal SD Card may save you a bit of time.
13. A "success" message should prompt briefly after the export has completed and your files will be where you directed them.
14. Open up 7Zipper and tap the screen.
15. Click "System Folder" and head to the location of your exported copy. For example: "/storage/sdcard0/OASVNlite/r98/"
16. Press the green check-mark button near the top of 7ZipperAND select ONLY THESE FILES/FOLDERS!
1. data
2. kernel
3. META-INF
4. system
5. boot.imgTHEN click the button underneath the red "X" to the right of where the green check-mark was (it looks like an image of a pull-down menu which is what it actually does... pulls down a menu).
17. Click "Create Zip"
18. Enter whatever name you'd like to call your .zip file that you will be flashing/installing.
19. Select your "Compress Level" that says "Default" by default (imagine that...)NOTE: IT IS BEST TO USE THE HIGHEST POSSIBLE COMPRESSION LEVEL! WHY!? I HAVE NO IDEA! THAT'S JUST WHAT I WAS TOLD SO THAT IS WHAT I DO! Lol. Using your Internal SD Card may save you a bit of time but if you didn't export your local copy to your internal SD Card then your S.O.L. since it'll save the .zip in the same folder that you selected your exported copy files/folders.
LET 7ZIPPER DO WHAT IT DOES! I haven't had any problems letting it run in the background while doing other things but of course you will notice a slight decrease in performance.
20. Reboot into your Recovery and flash the .zip that you just created.
SUCCESS! Hopefully.
I've seen a script you can use that was made by one of the members of the Alliance Dev Team working on the s5port. I'm not 100% who everyone was that incorporated that so if you want credit please send me a PM and I'll edit this post with proper credentials. I believe it was il duce though.
MAKE SURE YOU'RE ON A GOOD CONNECTION! WiFi preferred.
3G will work but it will take forever. Forever isn't an exaggeration either.
LTE will work but you risk losing connection.
Open up Terminal app
Type su
Type s5port
let Terminal do its thing
NOTE: This process will take some time no matter what you do. Just let it do its thing. It downloads the files it needs and then zips them up for you to flash. This is a hassle-free method, if you will. I believe that's about it.
Good looking out
BTW first

EDIT: I went ahead and zipped up what I had just to see what would happen, and I definitely must have done something wrong because the finished zip is only 105mb.

Hey, this happened to me too. It is probably because your download failed or you ran out of space on your internal SD card. I went into Settings and then Storage and clicked on "Misc" under Internal storage and deleted the OASVN files, redownloaded, and it worked. Give that a shot!
I also followed all instructions and it was also missing the boot.img. I just downloaded the file directly and zipped it all up and all was fine.

Thanks for your help. I tried again from scratch and basically got the same thing - no data and no boot.img. I have enough room on internal storage and have lots on my SD card, so I know space isn't the issue.
Maybe this is my phone's way of telling me I should just wait till it's released as a flashable zip, haha.
i'm getting the same thing, only a 108ish mb zip.. tried a couple times..
If you're not getting all of the files that means your download wasn't 100% successful. Happens a lot. Just need to Update or do another checkout.

Run the cleanup option on OASVN and try it all over again. Just be sure to have it plugged in and connected with a good connection... It takes a while. I got it to work for me.

Best to save a lot of time by making sure all of the files have downloaded before performing the export of the local copy. I haven't used OASVN in quite some time since I just got my replacement and haven't done any S-OFF yet so I can't test to see if there's just an issue with the program or anything... Worked fine every time I used it last month though.

Hi everyone,
I've been looking around these forums for days now, but it seems nobody else has had this problem. It's about boot animations. My screen just stays black. I have narrowed it down to the zipping process.
I've tried it with somebody else's bootanimation.zip to make sure it is not about my .pngs or .txt file.
When I put a downloaded .zip directly inside system/media/ or data/local…it works like a charm!
But as soon as I unzip and then zip it again (on Mac OS, Windows as well as 7zip for Android), it won't work anymore! There must be something apart from the "store" method and the permissions.
Things I tried:
(Mac OS Terminal) zip -r -X -0 bootanimation.zip bootanimation -x "*.DS_Store"
(Mac OS) "Keka" app (unofficial 7zip port) "store" method
(Windows) 7zip , "store" method
(Android) "7Zipper" app, "store" method
Phone:
Rooted Xperia Arc ("Anzu") with CM9 (also tested on CM10)
I need your help, I don't know what else I can do!
Well that's hard to say, it looks like you are doing things correctly, I use 7zip on Linux and windows and it always works when compression is set to store
Maybe upload the copy of working one and the one you played with and I'll take a look when I get home

First off - thanks very much for your helpfulness! I won't be able to figure this out by myself.
Att. #1 is an already zipped download.
Att. #2 is the exact same, except that I unzipped it and then zipped it again (via Terminal "zip -r -X -0…")
you have to zip it again using the store option in 7-zip

ok, so what you are doing is zipping up a folder nameded bootanimation, in this folder there is
part0
part1
desc.txt
but you dont want that folder!
so when zipping just highlight the three from above and zip those, do not add an extra level
than you will be all good!
let me know if you have further questions but im guessing you'll be just fine now!
@sambuculus
You may be interested in this.
If you have gif for bootanimation then use Bootanimation Creator from ROM Toolbox app (No PC, no zipping, software does everything).
I have used this and works fine.

Just did that, but it didn't work I actually think that the outcome is the same.
Instead, I had a TeamViewer session on a Windows PC. Here's the outcome:
Unzip Mac - Zip Mac : Doesn't work
Unzip Mac - Zip Win : Doesn't work >> that's interesting I think
Unzip Win - Zip Win: Works!
> I forgot to test if unzipping on Windows and then re-zipping on Mac would work…
So what finally brought my own bootanimation.zip onto the device was using the BootAnimationFactory on the PC. Pretty sure it would have also worked if I manually wrote the desc.txt but whatever.
For now, that's an acceptable workaround for me, but it bugs me that I don't know the reason it doesn't otherwise.
Very strange, the only thing I found wrong with the .zip you posted was the the extra folder in there, to double check I removed it and flashed it to one of my devices and it worked just fine.
But if you found a solution than good! Let me know if you want to try again with teamviewer or something
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
@demkantor It WAS the folder! It worked!
Info for Mac users:
I saw that opening a .zip on PC doesn't render a Folder like it does on Mac. That may be the reason why I couldn't see a difference on OSX, as it shows me the additional bootanimation folder, whether I zipped the whole folder or just its contents.
Anyways, thanks again for your help!
@hnkotnis Thanks for the tip! If only the color range on a .gif wasn't that bad, it would be a convenient workaround as well.
Thought I would just add to this to make it relevant to Android 7.0 and 2018!
I just had the exact same issue and i've been doing this for years, from Android v4, but now have an Android 7.1 device I wanted to change the bootanimation on. You do forget the little things from time to time!
I use Windows, you need to use 7-zip, I can't tell you how much better that is for LINUX-y based things you build, (also notepad++). Also the advice by divyamg28 was bang on for me.
make sure when you "add to archive", you choose "store" as the compression level.
This definitely worked for me
Hi
I've started around three other threads here on XDA but I never seem*to get anyone answering my questions for something that should be so simple.
Anyway I've been trying to flash a ZIP folder containing third party APK files via TWRP to go alongside my fresh install of Lineage OS. All of the user apps install perfectly fine to the '/data/app' directory, however, system apps that are installing to the '/system/app' directory are only getting half installed. Basically when I boot into the ROM I can see all of the system apps in the app launcher, and even navigating through the phone with a root explorer I can see that I can see the correctly copied folder and file from inside the ZIP folder. For example the Google Snapseed app is stored as the following:-
/system/app/com.niksoftware.snapseed
>niksoftware.snapseed.apk
What's weird is that if I open the apk file and install it with the Package Installer*successfully*installs it but with a '1' suffixed to the end and two folders and a re-named apk file
/data/app/com.niksoftware.snapseed-1
> lib
> oat
> base.apk
For a little test I moved the 'niksoftware.snapseed-1' folder from '/data/app' to '/system/app', deleted the original 'niksoftware.snapseed'*folder and rebooted my phone. As expected the app continued to work perfectly fine with no force crashes.
If you're wondering why I'm installing the apps under a system app, it's because the user(s) I'll be passing the phone onto will be non-technical Android users. When the user needs to do a factory reset, the apps I pre-installed will survive if they're installed as system apps compared user apps that will get wiped.
There is literally nothing on any forums anywhere explaining how to flash system apps via recovery taking the more recent Android the OS' that have been released in the last few years. Could someone please help me out here?
Many thanks
Will

Personally I never tried to install third party apps like that , but it could be interesting to test this out .
But I think you've made a mistake while trying to create the system folder :
You created this :
/system/app/com/niksoftware.snapseed
But the /com is not needed , I mean it maybe the reason of you issue .
So try to remove the /com :
/system/app/niksoftware.snapseed

I renamed all of the folders inside the zip folder so there is no '.' (dots) in the folder and file names and unfortunately the apps still crash. It's a shame there is no command that extracts the .APK files into their correct directories. I'd love to know how the OpenGApps package works because that basically does the same thing as my ZIP folder.

GApps does the same thing .
Basically it's a zip file with a script that copy all the file and the directories to the root directory of your phone.
I think the problem is the signature used bybthe third party apps. But that's just an hypothesis , I could be wrong I'll let you search more deep on that subject with Google , hope this helped a bit

The part that's going wrong somewhere is the folders that should be created alongside the APK files are not being created.

I made some videos explaining the situation.
The first video shows the app crashing on launch. The APK file is installed at
Code:
/system/app/Snapseed
I then proceed to install it which is successful and installs itself as a user app found at
Code:
/data/app/com.niksoftware.snapseed-1
Next I rename it and move it to system directory and delete the original directory so there isn't a clash of identical apps. Finally I reboot the phone.
https://youtu.be/mL6ePOMnDQw
The second video I show that it opens up perfectly fine. To show that the two folders inside the
Code:
/system/app/com.niksoftware.snapseed
directory are important, I move them to the internal storage Downloads folder and then relaunch the app. It now crashes. I restore the folders and then app once again works again.

Hi , the videos you made made me understand better your issue , but I've a question , when you moved the oat and lib folders to the system , you opened the Snapseed app successfully without any bugs isn't it ?
And because the installation folders are in the system , the factory reset won't affect them .
So is your problem solved ?

Yes you could say I have solved the problem but it's not the solution I'm looking for. I want to be able to install the apps in bulk during the flashing stage using a custom recovery like TWRP I'm using. The order I would flash would be:-
1) Flash Lineage OS
2) Flash OpenGApps
3) Flash additional apps (essentially third party apps from the Google Play Store)

If you want me to do it for you , just upload those files to Google drive and send me the link , I'll make your flashable zip and upload it to Dropbox so you can download it :good:.
The files you should upload :

I'd rather do it myself please if that's okay with you creating a guide, as I would like to learn how to do it for future reference? I use Notepad++ quite frequently and I use 7-zip to archive everything so I'm all setup there.
This is going to sound stupid but where do I get the Libs and Oat folders from except for copying them from Android? I am aware you can open the APK files themselves but I've never seen the Oat folders inside.
Many thanks again for your help so far.

I meant I need the Content of this folder for each apps you want to install as system apps:
/data/app/com.niksoftware.snapseed-1
> lib
> oat
> base.apk

You will need this to make the flashable zip.
Copy and paste those files to your download folder ( Internal storage ) , then transfer those folders (and the APK file to your PC in order to use it .
I'm preparing the guide and I'll post it in around 10 min , don't forget to press the thank button on the posts

So , let's start with what you need :
- The folder /data/app/com.niksoftware.snapseed-1 and its content on your desktop
Now what you should do :
1) Extract the 2 folders in the template I made you
2) Open the system folder and create a folder called "app" into it
3) Copy the com.niksoftware.snapseed-1 folder (with the content inside it) and paste it into the app folder newly created
4) Repeate the step above for each and every app you want to install as system app
5) Exit the folders
6) Select the META-INF folder and the system folder and compress them with 7-Zip
7) You are ready to flash the zip to your phone !
My Advice is to do this in your Desktop in first place, because it's more easy to see what you're doing.
When you get used to this, you may do it everywhere (even on your phone).
Don't forget to disable signature verification in TWRP ( if there is the option , I don't remember well)
And make a backup of your phone before every modification , we never know what can happen (but in this case, it'll be okay since we're modifying nothing)
Hope this helped you , don't forget to press the thank button

I'm just trying to find out if there a more time saving tool that will extract the the lib, oat and base.apk from the containing .apk file so I can do it in bulk on a PC.
The problem I have is that I have about 20+ APK's that will be flashed additionally on top of the Lineage OS ROM and OpenGApps. Thinking how long it took to do one installing it as a user app, renaming it, moving it to the system partition, I would have to do that for everyone. Even if I was to do this method the contents I extracted for one Android architecture (CPU chipset type) used on one device may be completely incompatible on another.

Unfortunately I don't know any tool able to do that.
And for the architecture , that's not really a problem
Because there are only 4 architecture :
x86 (rare)
x86_64 (very rare , mostly used on emulators)
arm (most common)
arm64 (common)
And the arm APKs work for arm64 devices , so you just have to do this for arm APKs and it'll be okay for almost every Android device . (Edit 1 : Not really sure of this info, should be good but I can't certify it 100%)
And I know myself that doing that takes time , but if you really want to do that , that's the only way I can suggest.
Do as you feel it , I hope my answers were clear and useful for you.
Let me know what's your decision,
Have a nice day

I'm going to go ahead with it. Like you said ARM will work for ARM64. Even if the apps become slightly outdated if I were to flash my ZIP onto future devices, as soon as the Play Store is installed it will hopefully update anyway.
