TrueSmart stuck in bootloop - Ornate TrueSmart

After using framaroot, which it said was a success, my TS won't get past the black boot logo. I don't know how to fix this. I installed the mtk tool, but it said that in order to use the program, my TS has to be OFF, but I don't know how to shut it off. I held down the power button for around a minute without any change. I'm not sure if there's some hard power-off for it but I'd really appreciate any help. I thought I could try removing the battery, but I can't remove the screws on the underside for the life of me.

Going to have to pull the battery. Probably going to have to flash the factory firmware to get the device running again as well.
This is why I keep pushing the EnSec patch as the other current quick root options are unstable and only do a very small part of the work needed to secure the device. Then there's all the optimizations that you have to end up doing as well.

No matter how hard I try I can't unscrew the bottom. Is waiting for it to die an option?

Not wise as there is no cut off for the battery. Both Adam Outler and myself found this out and had to directly wire the battery to a charger/USB port to charge it
Try getting a decent #0000 screwdriver and using that.

Mine was stuck in a boot loop, but adb worked in one part of the boot and I could access the device eventually.

Yeah I took them off, but they're just screwed in so inbelievebly tightly that it's taken me about a half hour to get just 3 of them off. I'm still struggling on the fourth.

Stop using framaroot. Geez.

Alrighty I pulled the battery out and put it back in. I haven't turned it on yet, because I wanted to try that unbrick/return to stock program, but when I plug it in, my computer makes a little connecting sound, and after about 5 seconds, it makes the little disconnecting sound. Anyway, the unbrick program isn't recognizing the device at all. Not for a second. So my question is: what do I do?
EDIT: Simply hitting the power button after removing the battery and putting it back in made it boot up as normal. I literally muttered "wut de HALE?" when I glanced down and it was back on the homescreen. And btw the root worked!

Good to hear you are up and running.
You now have a long list of tweaks, edits, file pushing and changes yet to do to make it a more secure and more usable. BTW, the security patch is incompatible with Framaroot rooting. Sorry.

[Q] Stuck at "phone ! computer" - did I brick it?

I just tried to update my phone to JI6.. I was rooted, with no lag fixes or GPS fixes ever applied. Update didn't work, just left me at the "Vibrant" screen for 30+ minutes. I tried to fix with Odin and JI6 file, but I unplugged the phone while in download mode before Odin started. Now I'm stuck at the "phone ! computer" icon. I've tried holding both volume keys and power while the phone is plugged in to the computer and then inserting the battery, but this doesn't work. I've also tried holding them all down after it goes to that screen, and it reboots, but always comes back to the same screen.
Did I brick my Vibrant completely?
This has been posted 2 billion and a half times already. You can still get into download mode. Just do what you would normally do to get into download mode but hold the buttons for a little longer until download mode comes up. Seriously, please use the search button people.
Your problem is you shouldnt be touching power to get into download mode.
First open odin.
Remove battery, put battery back in
Hold voth volume keys, do not touch power. Then plug in usb. Continue holding volume keys for a few seconds.
Or the way you were doing it. Remove battery, plug in usb, hold only the volume keys, then put the battery back in.

i've tried this a million times, is there any other way to get passed the phone ! computer screen? i've tried every single combination of button holds, battery removes and usb plugging and nothing other that that screen will come up.
You are not bricked. Follow these steps EXACTLY:
1. remove battery, sim and sd
2. Open Odin
3. Connect usb to phone
4. Hold down both volume keys and power
5. but battery back in
6. once the screen blinks, let go of the power button
7. keep holding both volume keys until the downloading screen starts
8. Flash back to stock. I always go back to stock after something like this just to make sure that nothing got corrupted. Also check the re-partition option.
9. Point and laugh at your phone with an evil henchman kind of laugh. The bastard didn't defeat you yet!!!
no luck doing that, only ever shows the phone ! computer screen

please keep us updated as to what happens. I had the same problem with my first Vibrant but I had borked it with Voodoo. Even though I COULD get into download mode, ODIN would never work to fix it, even with repartition checked. It would just say "DO NOT UNPLUG TARGET!" and stayed there for hours. For this reason I am VERY leary of using ODIN again. Luckily, my local T-mo was nice enough to replace the phone for me, no questions asked.
I really want to find a ROM or something I can flash with clockwork to get me back on the JFD baseband because I have a stock kernel and a nandroid that is stock with root, then I can just use the 1-click unroot and do the OTA and not have to use ODIN. At least that's my theory
Just keep trying it
I had this problem yesterday I unplugged early while doing a odin flash and because Odin had stopped responding then when I pulled the battery and tried to start the phone I kept getting the phone ! Computer notification on my phone what I did was pulled the battery and connect the phone to the usb cable and hold the up and down volume keys at the same exact time I was plugging it in. the phone looked like it was going to showed a loading screen like the battery icon was about to pop up but it then went black and the download screen popped up... Ta Da... Don't give up so easy I didn't get it on my first time either took me about 45 minutes before I got it to work download mode is tricky even without a soft brick my friend so just keep swimming
Please Help me
I have the same problem, and hardware locked. i bougth from other guy in craiglist, T-mobile say cant do nothing for me, because the IMEI number is of the other account not me. and the guy dont respond my calls. the phone is 10/10 new. just try update with odin and this has bricked.
somebody can help me with ideas
Try this, it is slightly different from what the guy earlier said..
1.) Take off your back cover, remove your sim & mirco sd card.
2.) Remove your battery.
Make sure you have Odin OPEN with admin privileges!
Make sure you have the USB plugged into your PC but NOT your phone!
3.) Hold the volume buttons.
4.) Put the battery in.
5.) Put the USB in.
Continue holding the volume keys & you should pop into DOWNLOAD mode within a few seconds
It worked for me when I did this.

Personally i don't believe the hardware locked issue, i got mine in late August, has the same manufacturing date as many others who claim to be locked, and I have never had an issue getting into recovery or dl mode. There is a ton of information out there on this, seek and ye shall find, just be ready to do a ton of reading, take your time and don't get frustrated. Its OK to walk away and take a break, do something else for a bit and recharge your mental.

Sent from my T959 running bionix1.7 with JACs OC/UV and Voodoo
I was getting the phone vs computer screen last night. I had flashed the J16 official tar using Odin. Everything went perfect. Phone restarted at 1st try with no issues. I then re-rooted phone again with no problems. Then I went to load the segmented battery icon. When the phone booted up, I got FC messages and it wouldn't actually get to the home screen. I decided to reflash J16 and Odin failed. The screen went from the download screen to a black screen. I had to pull the battery and try again. When I tried to put it in download mode again, I got the phone~pc screen. I just did a battery pull again and when I tried again, I got the phone~pc screen again but I just kept holding the volume and power buttons and it eventually went into download mode again. That time I was successful in loading J16. I re-rooted and left it at that.

Vibrant Boot Looping

Hi all, i am running the latest version of Bionix i went to hit the reboot option and accidentally selected the download mode button. I pulled the battery out before it fully shutdown, me being impatient. When i put the battery back in the phone immodestly turned on and tried to boot, and stays on the vibrant screen for about 2-3 seconds then shuts off and try's to boot back up again on its own. Also when plugged in it continues to boot loop, it never shows that it is charging, only the battery with the loading circle, then ****s off and repeats.
I am not new to modding, and i am not new to getting my phone into recovery or download mode. The problem is the phone does not respond to the hardware keys, and i am positive that it used to be able to reach download mode via keys, i do not have a hardware locked vibrant.
I guess my question lies in the realm of another way to reset the phone, maybe via shorting pins or something? Does anyone know of an alternate method that does not rely on keys or software to reset the phone?
Thanks in advanced!

I have been in similar circumstance. Have you tried the battery methods to get into dl mode?
Remove battery and connection to computer.
plug phone back into computer
Hold volume up and down
Insert battery while holding buttons
That should work because it will put you in dl mode before it has a chance to boot loop
You might have to have odin up and running before you do the battery pull

A jig is a mod'ed usb device that will basically force your vibrant into download mode. Just use the method mentioned earlier....ie
Have odin up and running.
Pull battery
plug in cable
hold vol up and down
put battery in
should get you into download mode. Sometimes it took a few tries with Odin already loaded to successfully do it, but you shouldn't have any issues.

Point being there is lots of ways to overcome this.
Hey man Ive been in a similiar situation as well.... this has been the ONLY way that has worked, not even the above mentioned methods.
Phone not plugged in at all yet. Battery pull for 10 seconds, put back in, BEFORE plugging in phone, hold volume up button (if this doesnt work try both volume buttons, sorry been out of the Vibrant for a while for my NS) while plugging phone in (still holding volume up button), hold till it throws into DL mode.
Hope that helps man!

I've tried that method, it used to work for me. This soft brick is different than any other I've encountered. The phone has never automatically tried to boot when i put the battery into it, it makes things harder. But thanks and ill give it ago again.

I think that method with the battery is just referred to as a jig by some people.
I would try the battery method with odin ready to go and without, and sometimes it takes a couple tries.
Also just try holding all the buttons while unplugged, for a long time, then on one of the boot loops as soon as you see anything flicker in the screen release the power button, then try all buttons, then just volume buttons. Sometimes playing with it like that just kinda forces it.
Does odin see it in com port? Do you have correct drivers installed to use odin? Sdk installed as well?

Also try different combos of being plugged in and not. And recovery or download mode. Recovery will be just as useful as dl mode.

A jig is THIS, it shorts out pins in the micro usb port forcing it to download mode. I am positive i have the correct drivers and the sdk installed right. This isn't the first time I've been soft bricked and i am very familiar with DL mode and Recovery, and how to reach them traditionally. This soft brick is different though for what ever reason. I am going to have to try this jig, and if that doesn't work, i think ill have to read up about the jtag pins on it, if anyone has more information on jtaging a Galaxy S please post!
Did you ever end up trying the jig? I'm having the exact same problem you were. Thanks
I hard bricked a vibrant by trying to flash a rom on a low battery. Battery died in the middle of rebooting thus killing my vibrant with no way of recovery (seriously, charged the battery and the phone still wouldn't turn on... at all). Anyway, while trying to fix it, I actually made a jig. It's a lot easier than it sounds. You basically cut the plug that goes into your phone off of the cord down to where you can see all of the wires. Once you do that you break off the plastic shell that covers the plug. You then use a 301k resistor (I couldn't find that exact one so I bought 3 x 100k resistors and a 1k resistor then twisted them together).. plug the usb side into your phone then touch the opposing ends of the resistor onto wires 4 and 5 and it should go into download mode. You don't necessarily have to solder the resistor to the wires but you can. It makes it a bit easier considering you can't touch the wire part of the resistor or the static will mess up the voltage. Otherwise, Amazon sells jigs for a few bucks.
I wanted to post the url for the site that I found useful in making a jig but because I'm a "junior user" I can't. So if you search for "usb jig" on amazon there are a few; if you want to make one google "how to unbrick samsung vibrant" there is an article on factoidz called "How to unbrick your samsung vibrant/galaxy s" which I found to be the most useful.
Hope this helps!
I bought a jig off ebay and it worked like a charm! Worth its weight in gold! I now have a working phone again after being phoneless for 5 days.
Failed to replace stock recovery now get only there.
Hi, similar situation please help.
From stock 2.1 I rooted with King root Chinese zip then to go for a new ROM I renamed a cwm zip in update.zip and I read replacing stock recovery..... and saw this cwm just a couples of times, as it revert to stock recovery and doesn't switch on anymore, show grey battery logo fixed when charging, and now after removing the battery for long it goes in stock recovery se2 , cleaned cache and data but nothing change.
Is there please a solution without PC?
Thanks

Strange

Just wanted to share my strange experience with all of you. Last night I was browsing through my phone and notice a strange looking icon in my app drawer. I don't recall the entire name but I believe it ended with widget. Well since I didn't remember downloading this app curiosity took over and I decided to launch it and see what exactly it was. Upon clicking it my phone powered off like it was going to reboot and I haven't been able to get a full boot since. When I put the battery in it tries to boot up on its own. I will get the the Samsung logo twice then it shuts off. I can get into download mode for about two seconds before it shuts itself down again. If I plug the usb cord into it, it will vibrate every couple of seconds until I remove the cord.
Almost sounds like the power button is stuck but I'm not sure yet. Going to continue messing with it after work today. Any ideas anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.

I was running Flappjaxx's base UCLF6 and had been running this rom for a long time. It wasn't in the rom as it wasn't showing on my phone the day before. I would love to figure out where it came from, heck I would love to just get my phone running again. It was in the apps list last night and that was the first time I had seen it there.
If I don't have any luck with it tonight I'm considering sending it off to mobile tech video's to try their JTAG service.
Pull out the battery, then insert the battery and put your phone in recovery. From there just reflash Flapjaxxx rom. Then freeze that app with Titanium BackUp.
But there have been a few members who had a stuck power button. And your symtoms sound right. That should be under a warranty, or any cellphone repair shop can fix it, or watch the toutube teardown video to see if its something you can do.

Appreciate the input ranger, I was kind of thinking it sounded like a stuck power button as well. Unfortunately, I can't even get to recovery so at this point my options are extremely limited.
I've used FJ's build forever as well, and have torn that rom apart more than once....but have "NEVER" found anything that would explain that condition..
I agree with ranger on the power button, but it sounds like a symptom, not a cause....
You should be able to restore the device from the samfirmware.com site I would think, as this will force push the original rom over for you. (closest thing to a JTAG without actually having it done)
Then flash CWM and restore from there......g
Wow, thats an ugly one there....g

Agreed, it sounds the exact same thing when my power button had issues. I took my case off and played with my button (without the battery) for a while, just kind of felt out what was going on, after that it hasn't given me much issues. But like Ranger said, that's covered by warranty so if you have a backup phone, that's what I would do.

Update for everyone. After work today I took the phone apart and played with the power button. While it was still in pieces I placed the battery in it and it booted right up. [Q] Phone slowly becoming unusable, Recovery is unaccessible.

I have no idea what went wrong or where. One day a few apps starting force closing. Then I got weird unlocking problems. Now google play crashed consistently on any search, as well as ****ing settings. I ****ing hate this phone.
-Rooted and unlocked via freegee.
-Installed clockwork over adb(everything was fine at this point)
-Flashed a few different ROMS
-Flashd beanstalk, and then the problems started.
-Can't get ****ing adb to connect no matter what so I can't flash a new recovery
-Considering beating in my phone with a bat.
Anyone have any suggestions for getting recovery working again? Clockworks app doesn't work, similar to what this fellow went through (and apparently solved) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258671&highlight=can+t+boot+recovery

I've exhausted everything I could find through the teenybin thread. LGNPST and teenybin gave me back fastboot, but I still have no recovery.
Oh yeah, and a sweet bonus: My phone refuses to go past the boot screen when booting and adb on both my desktops refuses to recognize my device! Anyone want a free phone before I smash it to bits against my face?
Update: For all you poor fools who are following the same path, heres what happened.
Left it plugged in all night and it continued to flash red for a while, and then show a full charge screen, then turn off. Repeated this throughout the whole night.
Come morning I perform a hard battery pull via this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45849420#post45849420
I wait a minute with the motherboard connector disengaged. Hold power button for 10 seconds. Plug back in, absolutely no change in my situation. I tried again for about 5 minutes, ditto.
So in conclusion, I broke my phone because I installed a custom rom and LG didn't want me to. I hope whatever team was in charge of developing this phone burns in hell like they so sweetly deserve.
**** you LG. ****. YOU. I want my ****ING money back. You make **** PRODUCTS.

Yeah its my fault for installing a custom ROM. You wouldnt be saying this if a desktop or laptop magically stopped working after reinstalling windows or linux. If those were as randomly, stupidly risky, people would be ****ing in arms at microsoft, as they rightfully should be at carriers. Whatever man.
If you can't access recovery or the phone will not boot then adb won't work. You said that you do have the ability to use fastboot though. Have you tried flash twrp from fastboot?

Why you install recovery over adb? I mean, when you unlock with freegee it installs the recovery you want (cwm or twrp), so no need for adb.
Have you tried to KDZ a stock rom and do a hard reset?

I tried LGNPSTING a lot of things and now the battery is ****ed. Hard battery disconnect did nothing. It'll flash its light and maybe show the lg logo when plugged in.. but other than that its frustratingly dead.
Just sell the ****ng phone man...
You got frustrated due to a lack of patience. You can flash recoveries via fastboot. If you actually searched well you would have seen that.

Doesnt work, and never did. The ****ing phone drivers are so ****ty and proprietary, no computer I used would recognize my phone. I actually managed to flash the stock AT&T rom to my phone through LGNPST, along with a recovery, or so LGNPST said, but of course another problem had to come up. Fantastic ****ing phone here.

Then it sounds likely that you're doing something wrong, have an antivirus conflict, or genuinely do not have access to one well-maintained windows machine.

You can melt the software side of these phones so badly and still recover with the Qualcomm tools after the fact, it's not even funny how bad things can go before no return. Flashing a rom didn't do this, period. I want to believe you just suffered from a fluke hardware failure. Even more so it sounds like the USB connector went ape and continued wigging out from there.
The universal drivers also work perfectly. Considering in every way this is the nexus 4 with an SD card slot and a better LTE amplifier, everything you're ranting about is invalid.
The phone is a sanctioned, flash to hell and back model. You need to do some soul searching and find out where YOU went wrong. Or at least get an el cheapo multimeter out and start checking continuity. If it turns out you broke the charging connector or the battery connector off of the board you can STILL be saved. Just put in some effort and try to find the root cause. Screaming and cursing on a random corner of the internet isn't solving your problem
Making up crazed excuses isn't doing any service to you or the other forum users either. Especially the driver ranting. They work flawlessly. Hell even the generic Google provided SDK abd driver works.
If you figure anything out we're here to try and get you back to good.

-edit- and leave the battery disconnected for awhile. The reason I suggest holding the power button while battery disconnected is in the hope that it will drain any remaining current out of the phone. There's no documentation to say it does or doesn't. So let the thing sit and be absolutely sure it's got a chance to reset. And check the battery voltage to confirm if it's dead or not. Since the contacts will be right there when it's disconnected...
That red light flashing / lg logo when plugged in is exactly where my phone and others was when needing a battery pull. It's fixed every phone I've heard of in that state. Try it again?
The same thing happened to me twice before. Both times I was able to recover my LG you get back into my recovery screen. What works for me is using Lgnpst back to stock jb. Next I flashed both teeny bins. Immediately after flashing the teeny bins, I open my LG up and pulled the battery. I waited about 10 minutes attach the battery back into the LG. Booted to the device and a factory reset my holding the power button in the volume down button. After the the device finished the reset I was good to go and my LG back to normal. This is what works for me give it a try... And good luck.

Well, another free day off, guess I'll give it a go again.
The connection of the battery to the mobo is most definitely intact. Pulled the plug to the mobo for ten minutes, plugged back in.
It still just steadily flashes red whenever I charge it. Nothing.
I'll try holding the power button while its disconnected, but I don't have a multimeter to check voltage.
Edit: Something changed. After sitting with the battery disconnected and a rubber band around the power button for 20 minutes, it showed a battery with a charge icon, then nothing. Havent had a screen for awhile. Pressing the power button, nothing. Holding it for awhile gets the full-charge battery, and if I keep holding it, the google symbol, and then nothing. I guess I'll try pulled the battery for 20 minutes again, Maybe it didn't fully discharge?
Edit 2: I've been informed that after a hundred battery pulls, the battery probably has something physically wrong with it. ****ing phenomenal goddamned phone here!! Why do I pay tech companies money for **** again?

go to a service, ask them if it can be repaired, if they say yes go home and wait for an idea
if they say no dont lose the hope
its a great phone, and as you see you are the only one with this problem
and with that angriness you will do nothing, remember you and only you are the responsable for any damage your phone suffers, not the developer of that rom

My Vibrant turns off with a tap

So one day my phone decides to not turn on. No clue what happens, pull it off the charger, then nothing. I try to flash stock hoping that would help but it would go into download mode or even acknowledge the fact that it's plugged in. After repetitively removing and putting back in the battery then plugging it in to get into download mode, I finally do it. I think the very first time I flashed to stock it just turned off halfway through. I kept flashing stock a bunch until it finally worked. I boot up, but it won't complete a full boot. I flashed stock again and here I am. It is perfectly capable of making a full boot, but tapping it with a medium amount of force immediately shuts off the phone. I checked and cleaned the battery contacts- nothing. But that was the only cause I could think of. I've tried other batteries and it's the same. I don't know what to do. I don't know why it's doing this. Any ideas? What can I do to fix it?
maybe a wire or some thing to do with you're power button has came loose.

How would I check for that? I've taken it apart many times. I took it apart recently as well, and everything seemed fine
I would check to make sure everything is plugged in securely and if possible adb logcat while tapping the screen to see what the out put of the log. it may take a while to pin point the problem but honestly I don't remember how I fixed that issue its been so long I forgot.
