Battery not charging past 49% - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Noticed yesterday that battery was charging really slow an was actually loosing percentage while on the charger .. so it finally died .. I plugged it in while it was off an I did get the battery icon with the animated dots indicating it was charging .. I powered up left it on the charger for about 5 hrs while I slept .. woke up an was only at 50% .. Not sure if theirs a fix .. on latest update nc5d an k3 version 2

I had that problem, was the charging cord. The off brand USB 3.0 charger I bought off of Amazon stopped charging my phone.
Since the battery completely died, you could try getting a new battery, but sometimes it just needs to be dusted off as well.

Try taking out the battery and cleaning the area it charges with a cloth, I do that once in a blue moon, lol.

Does the battery spin? Put the battery on a hard flat surface. Spin it on both sides. If it spins freely then the cells could be bulging and the battery is on its way out. If that's the case replace it immediately. These types of batteries are dangerous when they start bulging and could start a fire. It might be a cable but it wouldn't hurt to check the battery too.

It could very well be your kernel. I've had that happen before. Actually lost charge while on charger. Wipe your caches in recovery reinstall kernel and cross fingers

(Q) wall charger

Hey guys last night i left my phone in charge and everything was fine until this morning i woke up and i realised that my phone isnt charging whit the wall charger but only whit my pc using my usb cord so i was wondering if my wall charger is broken or the phone itself because in my wall charger when i plug it i can see the green light on?
Thanks.
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
Hmm. Well if it works with the PC then the phone should be fine. My guess would be maybe a fuse in the wall plug part. Maybe one of the electrical engineers can chime in to help you out.

same thing happened with me weeks ago... its a charger related problem!! dont worry.. get a new one!!
This happens every once in while to me. Unplug from the phone and replug and wait for the phone's green light. If it doesn't start in 5 10 secs. reboot and then as a final measure (before buying a new charger) pull battery for another 5 secs. Hope this helps

Fairly serious issue that may cause me to return my Note

So here is my dilemma:
While on the car charger, I'm running GPS and Pandora with the screen on viewing the turn by turn directions. Well, this goes on for 2 hours. Battery down to %63....... WHILE ON THE CAR CHARGER!
I Went to Best Buy and bought a 2.1A charger to see if that helps. I charge it at night object a 2A charger from a TouchPad.
Any idea on how to actually charge this phone while I use it?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA App
On most android devices (not sure yet if the note is the same but I think so), fast charge is enabled only in the charger has pins 2&3 shorted. So, it's not only the amperage of the charger, but also what charger. I know the Motorola car charger does this, and crappy one in my car, but I haven't had any problems running nav, pandora, and bt calls and messages.

This kind of situation is not uncommon. Many phones cannot charge as fast as you can draw power, especially with GPS going and the screen turned on. The Note's large screen only makes this worse. You might want to try turning off things that aren't essential while you're using the GPS like wifi and bluetooth.
dude your driving a 5.3 inch display while using other apps of course its gonna suck some juice i would say you return it and get an iphone lol jk
Hmph that's odd. Mines chargining while useing Pandora with Bluetooth and GPS on more than its draining. When its plugged in to the car charger does is say AC or USB in the settings?

I realize the idea that it might not charge as well during use but to drain the battery while charging to the point it would actually be dead kinda makes me nervous to own this phone regardless of hardware demand.

Yes, 5.3" screen that should stay running while being charged. Think of a laptop or tablet. How are they able to accomplish staying charged while in use.
Funny you mention iphone. I am coming from one to this. I have NEVER had an issue with charging to %100 while I use use and on a charger. Many miles I've driven with Pandora, GPS, FB, email and a bunch of other stuff going on, hence why I question the validity of what I'm going through now.

Are we talking a Motorola brand charger or one that fits a Motorola brand? I thought ones that fit Motorola are not micro USB but mini USB. I just bought a TomTom universal USB charger that allows for 2 USB cables to be plugged into it. One is a 1A and the other is a 2.1A. I also bought a Belkin 6ft data/ charging cable the is USB to mini USB to micro USB with included adapter.

AHA!
That's your problem....
My buddy with an ATRIX bought one of those usb to the wall things with 2 plugs on it... it takes 12 hour to charge his phone from dead... and won't charge my boss's phone at all
And... from my job... I know that adapters degrade signal strength...
Your best bet is to get something that doesn't require a second adapter...
ie: wall wart/cig liter gizmo... wire... that's it

Well this all started while I was using a car charger that was included with an HTC Inspire. I figured it would power up the Note. The set up I posted before is the one I bought yesterday to see if the same issue occurs. I spent a lot of time looking for a 2.1A USB power point in hopes it would alleviate my issue.
I am curious though about the pin configuration idea though and fast charging.

I'm using Samsung's official galaxy note car dock. Works fine for me. Doesn't lose charge while using GPS, paying music, etc. It does actually charge it up.
Id buy one of those if t would work with a case on. I wonder if there are ant specs for.that dock online that would elude to the power output. I see the.home charger is only only a 1A.
I wonder if it could be the cable too?

Ridiculously slow charging?

My charging cable hasn't really been working well and I just noticed it only has four golden colored prongs inside of it. Can anyone confirm this isn't correct before I order a new one?
Edit yea its not the cable this thing is just barely charging.

mine does the same thing from time to time. if its charging slow unplug it and plug back in, then make sure the red light is on. i have noticed sometimes when i get a email or text and the charging indicator goes off(red light), it seems to only be trickle charging per say.

I don't think I have ever used the charger & usb cable that came with my Note 2. I have never had any issues with it charging. In fact, I am currently using a Motorola wall unit with a no name cable upstairs, & a cheap wall unit from Walmart & the cable from an Acer tablet. Both charge fine.
I'm using OEM charger and cable I installed an app called galaxy charging current and its showing a ridiculous fluctuation. I'm thinking it may be a faulty charger. It charges much faster on my car charger.

Charging faulty?

I've been trying to charge my phone lately my nexus s charger no longer charges as quick as it used to and my tab2 plug and s3 wire doesn't seem to be charging as fast. Could this be a USB fault or ROM as I came from paranoid ROM tried to go stock got a error and used the kies emergency recovery

This. I've been using my blackberry cable for a while now to since the stock chargers are really crappy. Besides, it disconnects with the slightest touch. I first blamed my USB ports for it, but when I changed the cable everything's fine

[Q] HTC Amaze won't charge once battery fully dies

Hello everyone
I have an HTC Amaze (bought it about six months ago) that won't charge at all - once the battery fully dies, it will not charge again and I know this isn't a charger related problem because once I insert my brother's phone battery (he has the same phone) into my phone it will work and it will charge (until it dies). I bought a new battery the first time it happened but the same thing happened once the battery fully ran out - it wouldn't charge again. Can someone tell me if this is a handset related problem or what?
Oh and I've tried charging it with multiple chargers, including connecting it via USB to a laptop. Nada.
Check your battery connections.

Basically take off your back cover and clean the golden connectors. Use soap lightly or rubbing alcohol or something. It should work. Also, clean the battery connectors and make sure it's DRY.

You may need to use an external charger to charge it. The battery is probably going bad. This happened to me last night. I took it out and put it in my anker charger, and now is charging again.
