I have a LG G2 D800 (AT&T). When I put it into download mode, the download mode screen shows up but NOT the next screen (Firmware Update). Also the PC does not recognized the phone. I know the drivers are installed correctly because my other G2 is fine and the drivers get installed in the PC to adjust the serial port.
So my question is how can I use the LG FlashTool to go back to stock if I can't set the COM port to 41. My recovery and ADB are working and I am running Paranoid ROM. Is there other way to fix this other than going back to stock? Many thanks.

my phone freeze on the first screen with the galaxys2 logo and the yellow trigon...!!recovery mode mode dont work and when i am going in download mode the pc cant reccognice the phone..!!i have allready install the drivers...!!i want to install an official rom but odin cant see the phone.!!help
If you think you get working drivers installed, put your computer online, put your phone on download mode, plug the cable, and wait for it to install.
This is for windows 7, otherwise install the Samsung usb drivers again

That's hard.
If you do not get the PC recognize your phone in download mode, you have a real problem.
Try another USB port and cable.
Try to connect your phone to another PC.
Maybe you have to give it to a service center for repair.
Is your phone already out of warranty?
I had a similar problem where it freezes on that screen.
My problem was I installed an ICS rom with old version kernel.
Once I installed the latest CF-Root the boot was successful.
If Odin can't see your phone and you can still go into Download mode, I would check to make sure that Kies is not open and no Kies process is live (Task Manager / Processes), I think it's call "KiesTrayAgent", just kill the process and any process that has a Kies word in it.
Otherwise try another PC.
I'm trying to flash my S3 International (i9300XXUGMK6) to Cyanogen Mod.
The phone currently is running stock jellybean but was rooted some time ago with SuperSU.
First i tried the installer from the CYMod site, all went OK until "Flashing recovery software". The phone went into download mode but eventually the laptop times out saying unable to connect to device. Phone needs rebooting to get control back.
Second time i tried http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_i9300 instead.
Again instructions worked fine until the phone entered download mode. No "ding dong" USB noise from the computer and Heimdall exits with "ERROR:- Failed to detect compatible download mode device"
It seems at least as in download mode my phone wont "talk" to anything.
I've tried 2 different computers (laptop and desktop) and 2 different USB cables.
The phone works as normal in USB mode when not flashing ( to copy photos, view directories etc).
I've tried to redownload a stock firmware but i cant find a single working link now - they all use terraserver which 404s. I'm not even sure i can flash anyway as ODIN wont recognise the phone either with the same drivers off its site.
Any idea how to fix download mode or get it working so i can flash?

If you gotta Recovery access AND the latest and BUMPED recovery (for example TWRP), you can still try to flash THIS:
-download the ROM from the PC;
-then, install ADB on linux or windows;
- 'adb push path_to_TOM_on_your_PC (for example, on linux, '/home/user_name/Download') /sdcard/Download (folder where ROM will be pushed in your device);
-Then try to flash the ROM.
It seems weird that your device isn't recognize with Linux, but try this still..
@almars are you on stock? What caused your problem?
There is indeed a chance to save your phone. 99%chance
so before I had stock but now I do not think any system.
One day shut down with the message "the system will now be turned off" and began to restart. From that moment, the computer does not detect my phone. I started the recovery and performed Dalvik cache, date etc. I can start download mode but it is the lack of communication with the computer.
Now, after the power is turned LG logo already is and end, nothing happens
Hi casual_kikoo , unfortunately I can not use the ABD because the computer does not recognize the phone.
Drivers from LG and ADB, of course, installed

For me it does not work "Since the phone turned off, press power + vol down, release as soon as the logo appears and then hold vol down + vol up"
If nothing works you may have to open the phone to unbrick it and flash the right stock files to it. Also see general for several unbricking guides to see or you could still fix your phone without doing that.
Hay guys,
I got a big problem, yesterday I tryed to downgrade my brothers LG P760 and made a big misstake.
When I tryed to go into 'recovery mode', I just used the wrong keys (VOL DOWN + HOME + POWER ON/OFF). Now my phone doesn't boot up anymore, it just hangs at the LG bootlogo. I can go into 'S/W Mode' and into 'Fastboot Mode', but if I go into 'Fastboot Mode' my decive driver is hangs in a loop. Hanging all day and night to fix this problem, but I can't do anything.... I hope anyone can help me!
Windows OS: Windows 10
Phone: LG P760
ROM: CM 12.1
Thanks a lot!

Yea, this is the last tool I used and it went fast as nothing else yet, but while flashing the stock firmware it doesn't continue at 60% and saying "Verifying phone connection...".
And does it work with Windows 10?
Thanks for your help!
Fastboot & L9 & Win10 ain't good for me, too.
But D/L mode is more basic and thus more reliable. And there are basically two ways to unbrick, online with the official LG tool, and with LG Flash Tool 2014 and a KDZ image. Only the first option works without problems for me.

Thanks for your time and answere!
Yea, I also think it's the Windows 10 which makes problems, I can't get any driver installed for this P760.
So I can just download the official lg support tool and try it this way?
EDIT: And btw... I did exactly the second step already and had also problems. I didn't did the D/L mode step yet. Can you explain how it works, I don't know how to come into D/L mode.
Thanks!
In da other Thread! In D/L mode the phone should get recognized by LG driver and a virtual com port be installed. LG software only works with LG drivers, and they sometimes don't recognize the phone, except in D/L mode.
Fir other purposes the Google SDK usb drivers are best, but then there's the Fastboot issue. But ADB should work.

The 'LG Mobile Support Tool' says that the right firmeware is already installed and then he is starting to download V20O with 599,15MByte. But the thing is, that the phone will just go out of the S/W mode while the 'LG Mobile Support Tool' is downloading the V20O. After the phone switched off, my driver is looping and always saying it can't recnogrize it. It does it like 20 times and then the phone will go on and LG logo appears. Nothing more.... :/
My P760 never quit D/L mode before or during download. Afterwards LGs recovery may appear, which calls itself something like Service Mode. This is not good, though the stock rom should initially work, but there are problems when rooting etc. In such a case leave phone connected and flash a second time. The phone should reboot to the launcher, if successful.
This latest tool also allows you to boot your Samsung Smartphone and tablets into the download mode without pressing the physical keys. If in case your Samsung device physical keys are not working, then this latest Samsung tool is useful for all of you. The best thing about this tool is that it is not necessary to have the USB debugging active. The tool only detects your device and restarts it in download mode to do the flashing by ODIN.
How to use Samsung 300K Tool
This latest tool is useful for those users who have Samsung devices that do not enter download mode with the failure of keys.
After download file is complete simply Run for install.
Make sure that the Samsung drivers are installed
Before connecting the device open the program and the following screen instructions.
Now connect your device to the computer and make sure that the cable is properly or correctly connected, and the screen will change.
In this last step click on the figure of the image where the strain point and your cell phone connected or not enter the download mode quickly in 2 seconds, but I recommend doing the operation with the phone is connected.
Done.
Admin Edit: Attachment has been removed as it was flagged by Google as "uncommon download". Also locking thread.

The attached Samsung 300k file gives a CRC error when extracted. also its an exe and doesnt run on Windows 10. Is there an equivalent file that will allow my samsung galaxy T4 (sm-231 v4.4.2 Kitkat) to enter download mode? Its home key is not working right now. Using ADB i am able to enter Manual mode, but not Download mode! So ODIN does not recognize it ( ID:COM is not highlighted). I have installed the latest Samsung USB drivers.
any help will be most appreciated.

When the phone is booted up normally and the way you would normally use it, when you connect your phone and open ODIN, does it still not pick up the phone on the COM port?
And (I'm sure you do), do you have USB debugging turned on and all the other usual things (like you mentioned, having installed the latest drivers)?

yes, i finally used "adb reboot download" to boot into download mode. Now when i am using ODIN and trying to root my cell by installing TWRP 3.2.1-0-degas.img.tar, it says PASS (success 1/fail 0), but my mobile still shows "DOWNLOADING..." with a horizontal blue line. I can also reboot and load normally, but it seems TWRP has not got installed and still ROOTCHECKER says my mobile is not rooted. Am i using the wrong versions of TWRP recovery or ODIN etc? Can you advice next steps?

When you've flashed TWRP, the phone will stay in download mode. Nothing will change on screen, that is normal. You have to reboot the device manually, using the button combination it says, then immediately as the device restarts, you change the combination to boot into TWRP. All of these steps are explained in whichever thread or wherever you found TWRP.
As far as rooting is concerned; TWRP doesn't inherently root the device. It just replaces the bootloader to allow you to flash custom packages, like the one needed to root the device.
If you're struggling to get the device rooted and there isn't a very specific reason why you need root, then my best recommendation would be to rather just leave it stock.
As far as I know, flashing TWRP won't trigger Knox, so you'll still have that functionality. Recently, it's become less and less necessary to have root and fewer apps require it, as well.
Like I said, unless there is a very specific reason, you'll likely be better off just leaving it the way it is.
EDIT: I'm realising now the original problem was that your home button wasn't working. In that case, it'll be difficult to get into TWRP, anyway. I also made some assumptions about Knox, because this is on the Note8 sub forum. I don't know if your device has Knox. And You're on a rather old version of Android also, so I understand why you may want to root, but without your home button working, it could become difficult to get into the places where you need to be to make that possible.
