Is there anyway to backup your legally purchased Kindle videos? The files are split up into thousands of small files with the .atv extention in the system partition. Only Rooted devices can access them.
Is there anyway to back these up? If not is there an app that will dump the RAM of the player so I can take a look at what they are doing and see if that maybe a possible way?
Stupid DRM!

Hi all, have 2 questions re using Hero with media:
1- Still haven found an easy way or prog to make a playlist on the pc, and have it exported (inc the mdeia files of course) to the hero in one step. Hero doesnt show up on songbird, Windows MP syncs the files, but have to manually save and move the playlist to the phone. Am i doing something wrong? Just want an easy ipod like solution, so i can take what i need with me everyday.
2- Any way to play the media files i have on my pc on the hero over wifi when i am at home? Ie just browse my netowrk shares and play what i want, as i would from another pc? Tried some of the dlna options, but it needed to cache the whole file onto the hero before it would play which is kinda defeating the objective!
Thanks in advance!
Answer to my first question, for others who might be wondering:
Installed double twist and it seems to do the job, just as i wanted it!
Hello all,
Just came back from a wedding, and shot 2 videos in HD. One file is 2.16GB, the other 2.65GB.
Both files can be played on the S2, and can be copied to windows. However, windows won't play them (Mediaplayer, VLC), probably due to the 2 gig limit, and all splitters that I've tried won't open the files either...
Does someone know a solution on how to cut the files in smaller parts? (editing on the phone using the "Video Editor" won't work, does not handle hi-def files)
Never mind!
While writing the post, I started thinking... "c'mon... My S2 is awesome, but doing something on a phone that 8 programs on a regular pc can't? ...maybe it's the copying that goes wrong with >2GB files?"
So reconnected the S2, only now in USB-mode... Tadaah, the >2GB vids can play / split / etcetera again!
(so, thanx to myself, and topic can be closed )
Hey,
I have a few DVDs I'd like to take with me on my phone, and was wondering if there is a standard program everyone uses to convert the video onto the phone (and make the files a bit smaller).
I've searched Google and there are hundreds that claim to do it - but is there a couple of programs everyone uses?
Ta in advance

I use Handbrake. It's free.
Hello,
Is it possible to play a DVD's Structure or ISO (containing the "VIDEO_TS" folder) directly on Android with menus? If yes, how?
Sent from ParanoidAndroid 0.4a on Galaxy Note GT-N7000 using XDA App.
Yes. U first have to use a pc program called handbrake that will convert format for u, then u can watch it on ur device

Wouldn't it defeat the purpose of keeping the subtitle ?
Edit: I have found the solution:
Extract files contained in ISO file to your Smartphone and use Daroon Player
you'll be able to play a DVD with the menus.

Hi, is there a solution to stream DVD ISO directly to an android device?
I ripped all my DVDs (ISOs are all located in my NAS) and will not convert my collection to play it on my phone/tablet. If android cannot perform such a basic thing, I will have no choice but turning to surface and win8. Would be sad but if there's no choice...
I believe it is possible but you will have to look into DLNA and such, I do not have the possibilities to confirm it since I did not try it myself.
I think you should create another topic to have more chances of obtaining an accurate response.

You're right, I will try to create my own topic. I hope I can as I am still under the "junior member" status...

Hi, I installed XBMC on my android tv stick and it appears to play some DVD ISO files. I say some because out of about 15 I tried 2...one worked and the other didn't.
You'll need to download the xbmc.apk file from www.xbmc.org and have your security settings set so u can install third party applications.
Gavin
Is there a way to directly mount ISOs now or do I still have to extract the files? By the way, VLC and BS Player can open the ISO but they won't get further than the menue.

It will be only possible if you'd like to convert the DVD ISO, or "VIDEO_TS" folder to Android friendly format. There are some video convert tool can help you, like the free Handbrake, but it needs a third-party software still; or Brorsoft dvd ripper, it will cost you some $ or so, it will help you fast rip and convert your home or commercial DVD ISO image files or VIDEO_TS folder to a common video like MP4 for your Android device within one-stop.

Okay, but would that friendly format support menus?
Hi,
I've recently bought a wireless sd-card/usb/hdd reader for phones and tablets (RavPower Filehub to be precise) and it's very useful. Although, it's useful for storing files and access them with a file explorer such as ES File Explorer, there is a little drawback. Other apps can't access the storage, because they simply don't have any support for accesing wireless storage.
Now, it would be very useful if all apps were able to access all these files. For example, music players can't index the music, because they only look for music on the phone itself. I have to manually select music in the file explorer to play. Or, playing old roms (e.g. gba games). I have to copy them to my phone to be able to load them in the emulator.
I've read a bit here and there about mounting such a storage as if is just a folder on your phone. However, almost all of these posts are almost a year old (so I doubt they still work on Android 4.4) and talk about custom kernels and such. Now, I have a rooted Nexus 4, but I would like to keep it vanilla.
So, I was wondering if there is maybe a way to mount the wireless storage without custom kernels? Maybe something is possible with Xposed Framework?
Thanks in advance for any anwers
