Porting Kitkat 4.4 to a 4.2 base? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
Sorry if my thread seems noobish, but I'm not really proficient in making roms, programming, coding etc.
But how difficult is it to port a 4.4 rom to a 4.2 base?
I have an Ulephone P6 (mtk 6582, 720x1280, 1/8 Gb) and it runs a 4.2 stock. Since not so long ago there appeared a 4.4 update rom for Lenovo s930 which is almost simmilar to my phone except some slight features, and it has the same kernel in both 4.2 and 4.4 roms - it is a 3.4.5 kernel. My phone has a 3.4.5 kernel and pretty close specs, so I'm wondering if I could make a port rom from lenovo's without any specific troubles - I mean assembling/deassembling and so on?
Can anyone give some pro-advice or point to a descent tutorial? I have already read some threads about making ports, but still it is not clear if I can just use the simple "copy-paste" method or is there a deep hell of work and it is not so easy?
Thanks.

[Q] Custom ROM UI Porting

Hello there.
I recently changed my device from a Xperia X8 to the new LG L4-II (E440), but i noticed that development for these new LG devices is almost nowhere to be seen because of its Mediatek hardware (at least that's what devs complain about)
I used MiniCM10 on the X8 (JB 4.1.2) and noticed that both of these devices have the same resolution (although the LG has a bigger screen), so my question is:
Since both devices have the same resolution, and both Roms are Jelly Bean 4.1.2, is it possible to use the UI files from the custom Rom in Lg's stock rom, (SystemUI, framework-res, stuff like that) without bricking the software?
LG doesn't have a custom recovery and both phones have very different hardware, so porting the Rom for me is out of the question, i'm no developer... but since they have the same resolution, it would be fun to merge some CM flavour into the stock rom.
Thank you guys in advance.

no..bro yu simply cant copy the ui files for another rom...dey wont work... U may end up soft bricking or bootlooping ur device...
Yu must port it for ur device
and another thing yu cant simply port cyanogen from another phone to a mediatek device...it will never work....(may cause hard brick also)
only roms of mediatek can be ported for mediatek devices dat also the chipset should be same (like mt6577 to mt 6577) or (mt 6589 to mt6589) not from (mt6577 to mt6589) and vv
hit thanks rather typing

Android 4.4 Rom

Hi guys,
is there already a custom rom with version 4.4 available/in progress for mimmi?
Especially the speed improvement makes this interesting for me, I use at the moment the 4.1.2 ROM and it could be quicker.

[Q] Upgrading my (costum) rom to Android 4.3/4.4

Goodmorning, midday or night,
I have a rom that is currently running Android 4.2.1 on a mediatek device. I was wondering what files/what needs to be edited to upgrade my rom to Android 4.3 or 4.4.
I know I should modify the build.prop. But thats kinda it for the upgrade. Has anyone any knowledge about this?

[Q] Any 4.4.2 Kitkat Touchwiz ROM ?

Ok,
I have been eagerly waiting for the 4.4.2 Kitkat official update due to the bugs or whatever the 4.3 has. But as we know, we may not get the update. So, for the first time I am looking for a custom ROM, as the title says, I need any 4.4 ROM with Touchwiz, I've searched this forum and also Googled, I found the S4 Revolution but its 4.3, so, if there's any 4.4 Touchwiz ROM I am not aware of. I will be glad if you tell me. If not then I'm going for the S4 Revolution. Thanks.
How can you expect a custom touchwiz kitkat rom when you know there is no official one nor will be??
Touchwiz is closed source so apps can be ported at best but not whole rom...
Sent from my GT-I9300
Oh is that so? Since the note 3 launchers were ported, I thought even the whole ROM might be ported too. Lack of knowledge about the ROMS, sorry and thanks .

A few questions about porting

Hello,
I read alot lately about porting Lollipop (CM 12.1) to my device (Allview V1 Viper which is basically a rebranded Gionee Elife E3) but i have some questions:
1. As far as i understood, there are some problems with CM and Mediatek devices. However i saw some posts with people succeeding to boot CM 12.1 on these devices. Can this be achieved ?
2. If yes, can i use KitKat stock kernel with a Lollipop build ? (my common sense says no, but who knows ?) If no, how can i build a kernel for Lollipop for this device. I saw that Mediatek released kernel source, can that be used ? Also, can i use the drivers from KitKat ? If no, which and where should i get the drivers from ? Can i use any files from KitKat stock rom for a Lollipop port ?
This will clear some things for the beginning.
Thanks in advance
